Not the same at all! It’s not«bad» but it’s still not the quality I’m used to at hip hop. The prices went up, I guess as a result of the new unnecessary menu boards and the quality has gone down. They also stopped using styrofoam boxes and started using these flimsy paper boxes that don’t keep your food warm and are honestly just awful. I hope they can go back to how things used to be but I’m taking a break for awhile.

I’m really shocked by all of the positive reviews. The restaurant looks pretty decent but the quality of service and food is really poor. Last night my husband and I decided to try this place out for the first time. We were both disappointed. The young men at the front were too busy flirting so they managed to screw up a pretty simple order. The chicken wings were rather small, most of them were bad even. The wings were too salty as well. The fries were undercooked. Everything that everyone was hyped about I just didn’t see. That was my first and last time visiting this place.

I am simply imploding over their fried green beans– so delightful! The string beans are springy and fresh and they are fried in the most delectable spicy batter. They even stay tasty cold. I don’t know if they can cook their chicken or shrimp in this batter, but I will request it next time. The corn nuggets are dreamy as well. The chicken tenders were tender(moist and flavorful with crispy shell). This chain sprinkles America’s favorite drug on every fried food item– sugar crystals! That is unusual.

Not too shabby. Taste: salty crispy and greasy. Which can be a good thing when you’re in the mood for it. The chicken is way too small. Smallest wings ive ever seen. The fried cat fish is pretty good. Customer service: solid

Nothing like a 3 wing and fry seasoned right with a bean pie, of course they gotta be the pies from supreme bakery.

I really like this place. The fried cat fish and catfish nuggets are great. They have platters that come with fries and coleslaw. I usually call in my order and it’s ready when I get there. The food is always hot. I have made large orders of chicken and fish for parties. They even make large orders on the spot.

Completely skeptical of the name. Went in on the late night and had some chicken wings and fries that were truly awesome. It’s the seasoning. I’m not sure what’s in it, but it’s awesome. The taste is truly unique.

Was in the mood for some tilapia and corn nuggets. And as always they give you a good portion of fish just never enough corn nuggets but I’m always satisfied. If your on a diet don’t come here, you’ll be completely off track. Anyway it’s good eating here!

Don’t be thrown off by the name, as I was at first. Last week I tried them out for the first time, and I’m glad I did. First off, I would like to say that I don’t consider this place«soul food» by any means; it’s more like«fried food.» Nonetheless, the food tastes pretty good to me. I’ve been looking for a tasty fried fish place near me. I ordered trout and french fries. My order came with three large pieces of perfectly seasoned and fried fish and a huge portion of fries, and it was all like $ 7. HHF&C is best just to pick up food to-go; the ambiance, to me, isn’t worth dining in, although they do have tables. The service is alright; they aren’t breaking glass ceilings in customer service, but they aren’t rude either. It isn’t «fast» food, but that’s okay because they cook to order so that your food can be piping hot. This will be my go-to spot when I have fatty, heart-attack inducing food cravings.

Good food! Hip Hop is your typical hole in the wall carry out place. Their entire menu is fried, so definitely not for those looking for a healthy meal. I usually get the whiting and wings combo, and have never had a bad experience. Ask for extra seasoning!!! It’s definitely a must. Also, I suggest calling your order in ahead of time to avoid the 10 – 15 minute wait.

Hands down best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Anytime friends or family visit Hip Hop is a must go. Hip Hop provides huge portions in addition to very reasonable prices. I recommend the 6 or 10 pc wing special. This isn’t fine dining and hip hop doesn’t try to be something it isn’t. It’s simply finger licking good fried chicken.

The food is sooooo good. Of course the chicken is delicious, and I had catfish nuggets, and shrimp. Make sure you call in your order. Most of the time it is ready for pick up, when you arrive. I would definitely recommend them to my friends, and family. Now that I have finished my whole platter, I want to go under my desk and take a nap :-(

Fish and chicken all fried with fires in teh same batter. What about allergies? Customer services worsens ans their heads swell with each new location opening all around the area. The owner bragged«Yeah well we will have 10 of these by 2012». Thank goodness Im a nurse cuz these fatty foods will keep me employed. Thanks Hip Hop Chicken for your chain of greasy spoons

Awful… Ordered 20 drumsticks, whiting fillets, fried shrimp and fries. Whiting fillets were overseasoned and just, I don’t know how else to put it, nasty. I asked the cashier which fish most people normally order, and that’s what he suggested. The fried chicken was distasteful. GOTOROYALFARMS if you want some tasty fried chicken! The best thing I got was the fried shrimp. It was actually pretty good. Or it just tasted good since everything else was disgusting. Sorry, 1 star. Methinks not.

This was my first visit to any Hip Hop location Upon entering it looked clean, place was empty considering it was dinner hour so waiting was not going to be an ssue. The staff seemed very quiet and they were young but that’s not really an issue either. got a combo for 8.99(popcorn shrimp and 3 chicken tenders with fries) an order of corn nuggets for 3.50(there were about 10 small pieces) and a large half and half for 2.00 my friend got the tilapia dinner with fries and an order of 5 hush puppies My dinner was a total of about $ 16.00 The chicken tenders were huge and fried hard and crispy., the breading didn’t fall off like most places and had a good crunch to it. Though seasoning did lack. Not a bad thing because now you could really taste the chicken itself. Upon biting it was hot as hell which means the 10 min wait for your food will be worth it! It’s fried fresh! be patient and you shall be rewarded Juices poured out and the chicken is probably the most moist I’ve ever had! There were 10 small shrimp fried hard as well and were very tasty, no complaints at all. It comes with a slice of white bread which is forgettable and they offer coleslaw and a multitude of complimentary sauces, the fact the guy offered them was definitely bonus points for customer service! The corn nuggets are the best I’ve ever had, fresh and delicious corn just oozing out once you bite into them. The hush puppies however, are forgettable, seemed very dry and bland. i have high expectations of any cornbread product, go for the corn nuggets instead! My friend was very pleased with the tilapia and both our fries although seemed like your typical sub shop fries were crispy, nicely seasoned and plentiful, and of course it’s nice that they are free with any combo or platter so really can’t complain about free fries. We both could not finish our food the portions were huge and worth every cent, easy to say that what you are paying for is easily 2 dinners worth so you are getting a big bang for your buck even though your total meal cost is over 10 bucks Lastly the half and half(Arnold palmer consisting of iced tea and lemonade) was a big size for only 2 bucks, but definitely much sweeter than I’m used to, I do think it will balance your salty fried entrée well, that’s a compliment not an insult because if you go here you are definitely a fan of salty goodness! All in all, I’m a fan and will want to go back here a lot! It’s not perfect but certainly the best cheap and tasty experience in town without a doubt! Highly recommended!

Hum. I had a serious hankering to see what real soul food was all about, so I dropped in here for a sampling. Fried chicken, fried catfish, fried corn fritters, fried okra, fried hush puppies… and not-fried cole slaw. Maybe I over did it. But it all seemed mushy. It all tasted the same. And the 2 orders of coleslaw that came with my meals? They were literally in little tiny condiment-sized cups. Two bites a piece, maximum. I’m not from around here, so I can’t claim to know what it’s supposed to be like. But I’m afraid to say the next time I want me some fried chicken, I’ll spend the extra buck and hit up KFC – or Royal Farms.

Honestly, I wanted to hope that my experience at Hip Hop Fish & Chicken would go bad, mainly stemming from the name to the small size of the location. I was hoping that this place would for a lack of better words, flop. Tony Yayo type flop. Yeah I know, petty. However, I can say I was surprised, big time. I know that a lot of customers rave about the chicken. I wasn’t in the mood for chicken, so I ordered the Fish dinner special. With the dinner special($ 6.88 including tax), you order fish or chicken, which comes with French fries, Cole slaw, and bread. You can substitute the Cole slaw for extra fries for no extra cost. I ordered the Whiting Fillet, in which I received three exceptionally-sized pieces. The fish turned out very good; the way the fried fish was prepared gave me a delicious kick in seasoning that I like in fish. The French fries were cooked well, but the extra fries were too much. I’m still working on finishing those as we speak. There’s a couple of tables to sit down and eat within the restaurant. My biggest gripe about Hip Hop Fish & Chicken is definitely parking. There are only about five parking spots near the restaurant, which is next door to a hair shop. If you know the Loch Raven area, you know that this place is not in a good driving location. Other than that, I give this place my kudos. Gold certified, so its not a flop, like the last LL Cool J album.
