Accurate Smog

I agree with the comment from Carlos E. I have been getting smogs here for years. I just did a smog and noticed the difference in atmosphere there, go to find out different owner.
The new owner claims they accept coupons, all they did is raise the price to fool people they are getting a discount.
Customer service is gone. High prices!

Don’t waste your time looking for any other place! This place is honest, fast and affordable.
Your satisfaction is guaranteed, I bring all my cars here and I would recommend them to anybody!

I’m pleased to have found this place open on a Sunday. There was a small wait since there were a couple cars before me but they let me know it would not be long as one car was just about to leave. Even with the wait I think the whole thing took twenty minutes. They were very friendly, quick and efficient. I used a coupon without issue and had a good experience. So good in fact, I will probably come here in the future for my smog tests.

Under its new ownership it is terrible
The tech there, Nelson, is very rude, arrogant, and is not helpful.
Don’t waste your time going here. There are plenty of other places nearby.
Reason is because the guy told me all I had to do was clear four out of five certain things and when I went back he changed his mind, said he doesn’t remember anything about that, and was rude and told me to get the F out of here.
That is not what I call customer service.
Do yourself a favor and keep on moving.

I’ve been coming to this place for years and have had over 9 smog checks here for various cars with 5 drivers in my household and 4 cars not hard to see why. After the 2^nd visit with a coupon told not to bring it any more my discount is tied to my cell and email address so even if I move discount can be referenced. I have also referred several friends .
Now I am warning New owners terrible customer service, terrible attitude. The only reason for the one star was the assistant was a nice guy who seemed like he was trying hard but intimidated by the boss. He was gruff, had issues with people even bringing up coupon, admonished NEW OWNER NEW RULES well go get new customers!

Nelson did an awesome job. I went in for a smog test and I didn’t have to wait. Service was quick and effective. Highly recommend their service.

The service is good, they’re reasonable with the time estimate. The price is reasonable too if you have a coupon. The people are nice, the shop does tend to get backed up so call ahead and get a sense for the wait before you head over. It’s a bit hard to find as its tucked back behind the Jiffy Lube and I don’t think there’s a sign out near the street (or at least not a noticeable one).

Just got my 2002 Subaru smogged before finally registering.
I was in and out in less than 20 minutes with enough time to spare and do the rest of my day.

Awesome! I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Gave me $ 10 off without me even asking. He also gave me some free advice on how to clean the connectors to my car battery, which were corroded (use baking soda and water). I’ll be back!

Awesome Customer Service! (Update 3÷14÷16)
The owner, Olga T., contacted me directly to apologize for her technician’s error. She immediately took care of the problem and went over and above what I was expecting as far as resolution. It’s not that Accurate Smog made a mistake. We are human and mistakes happen from time to time. It’s what happened afterwards that impressed me and deserves Unilocal’s highest rating. Accurate Smog is a 5-​Star company and a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend them!
False Advertising. (original post 3÷10÷16)
Accurate Smog’s website advertises a vehicle smog check for $ 29.95 plus certificate with their coupon for vehicles 2000 model year and newer. My 2004 Chevy should have cost a total of $ 40 for the smog check. When I arrived, I presented my vehicle registration renewal paperwork which required a biennial smog check along with a printout of Accurate Smog’s coupon at time of service. The technician accepted all the documents including their coupon, but he charged me $ 50. I asked the technician 3 times about the price of the smog check and why it differed from their coupon price. I even asked what the normal price was. He says, umm $ 60? I believe this business uses false advertising to lure people in, then charge whatever they want. Go to Accurate Smog if you want to be ripped off!!!

Update to review below: A gal named Olga contacted me, so I called her and she apologized and was concerned about my negative review, and did apologize for my experience. She offered to smog my car, I think for the cost of the certificate, which was nice of her. I declined as I don’t want to come in contact with the employee again. I updated to 2 stars from 1 star, still negative as my experience was what it was, and hopefully she will work on the customer service at her business.

I’ve taken my cars here for the last couple of years, and never had a problem until today. They always have a coupon on their website, which they should and have always honored. (it is $ 10 more for older cars plus the certificate cost).
I drive up and the employee tells me he will have to check with the owner, Tony (who is not there) to see if he will accept the coupon. He goes on to tell me that the place is under new ownership, but it has retained the name. I wait about 10 minutes and still Tony hasn’t shown up. I then ask the employee if they have accepted other coupons in the last month since Tony has been the owner. He tells me they have, but he doesn’t want to lose his job. Just about then, Tony shows up, and is gruff and rude. He tells me, it will be $ 50, which I think is the correct price, but he has attitude. He looks at my coupon which I had to screenshot and print through photoshop, so it was larger than the coupon would have been if it had printed off their website (it wouldn’t print the graphics). He tells me it isn’t his coupon (not only does he have attitude, he isn’t very bright either it would seem… Or maybe just didn’t want to do it.
I am thinking to myself, do I really want this guy to test my car? And I decide, I had had enough of his attitude, so told him I was leaving, and gave him a few not very nice words to express my unhappiness with him wasting my time.
Smog stations are a dime a dozen, so why would anybody deal with someone that acts as if they don’t want or need your business?
You cant pay much attention to the past reviews as he recently purchased the business.

Not bad of a place! Great guy. Professional. Fast. Which is basically what we look for nowadays right? lol. There is a 10 dollar discount if you check into Unilocal too but he gave it to us before I even had a chance to pull it up to show him! Head on ovah!

Our car registrations came in recently with both requiring smog checks so my husband called our mechanic, Hiro Auto Service, & they referred us to Accurate Smog.
My husband called to make an appointment & they just told him to bring the cars in. No appointment? Hmmm… I guess they’re not as busy on the weekdays. My husband made 2 trips; he was in & out within 15-​minutes each time — fast, friendly, no nonsense service.
Some of the local smog check stations charge $ 45 with a free re-​test if you fail your initial smog check. I’m going to assume AS charges a competitive rate because I forgot to ask my husband about Accurate Smog’s fee. FYI, AS offers a $ 10 discount with your Unilocal check-​in on their regular price smog inspection. Are there other types of smog inspections?

Called in and asked if he had time for a smog check right at the end of the day. And asked for a price. Pretty good price compared to a lot of other places in the same area. I called around and he gave me the best price plus I got the $ 10.00 off! Would have been 5 stars but it’s kinda hard to find. Not there fault. Thank you again! Will be coming back!

Friendly and fast. The two guys that were there were really nice. There was no wait but I called ahead to make sure they weren’t backed up. Price was the same or less than other places I checked.

Stay away from this place worse service and long wait. this white dude has attitude like his making you a favor. we are paying his lazy ass to do the job. never going back.

These guys are awesome. they explained everything that was wrong with the car as best they could and recommended a good macanic that would help us… there service is very fast…

I was extremely pleased with the professionalism at this business. Although the wait was short, Jessie offered us bottled water and a relaxing place to sit. The cost for the check and certificate was very reasonable in contrast to others that wanted nearly double. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes.
I would definitely recommend this business.

It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t the best.
Even though they were kind enough and offered us some water, they need better customer service skills. Both workers can use improvement in their communication skills. This is a business not the streets.
Also, my bf drives a Diesel vehicle and I overheard the tester say he’s not allowed to do Diesel smog to the receptionist (or he’ll risk his license being revoked) yet he still did it. Thanks? Oh well, that’s the risk he’s taking right.
I have yet to do a smog test on my vehicle, but I know for a fact I won’t be returning here.

I went last month to try and get my 28 year old car smogged since it had failed prior at the CA Smog Referee. After some repairs, I printed out their coupon and went to Accurate.
The technician took a look and said that he didn’t want to deal with it and that he recommended that I go back to the Smog referee when the paperwork said that any CA smog shop would do.
I appreciate his frankness, but it really wasn’t anything scary that he couldn’t have done– he just didn’t want to deal with it– and as a business owner, that’s his right.
