TAMARA DAHILL has been doing hair for over 20 years and opened A Tamara Dahill Salon in 1994 in Toluca Lake. Originally from Alaska, she attended the Vidal Sassoon Acadamy in London and then interned at the Vidal Sassoon Salon in Hamburg, Germany. Throughout her career she has worked on numerous celebrities and done hair for television, film, and print. In addition to being the owner of A Tamara Dahill Salon, she is currently the Vice President of the American Board of Certified Colorists. Tamara loves her stylists here and looks for many more years to come in Toluca Lake.

Alex is the best! I came in for a color correction and she matched the exact color I wanted. I was thoroughly impressed by her technique and how efficiently she processed my hair. She was able to bleach my hair while keeping it healthy. So impressed and happy with her work! It cost more than usual but it was worth every penny! It’s very hard to find a trustworthy stylist and she is exactly that! Can’t wait to go back!

Howie is a total nightmare. He advertised his deal on groupon for a haircut and color package. Now here is where it starts. I called to make an appoiment and he told me that he closed out all his groupon’s and to get a refund from groupon. I don’t know if you know that groupon does not refund any vouchers after the 3 day period. So he said there was a misunderstanding with groupon so he stopped honoring his vouchers. Groupon did not refund me, the business did not take the groupon so I lost over $ 100 dollars down the drain and I wasn’t even informed until I called to make an appoiment. So what was the point of advertising your business when you mislead your customers? It was a total waste talking to him and he tried calling multiple times and texting me until I blocked his number. Total A hole! I hope your business suffers more because of your misleading!

Anjeza is nothing short of a magician! I’ve contemplated going blonde the past few years but never took the jump bc I was sure it would ruin my virgin locks! Anjeza completely put me at ease and assured me that it could be done. I wasn’t 100% sure of exactly what I wanted but she was flexible and assured me that we wouldn’t stop until it was exactly how I wanted it! 2 weeks later and I am completely in love with what she did! My hair feels healthy, looks natural, and is better than I could’ve imagined!

Marci has been so amazing! I trust no one else with my hair. She saved my damaged ombré from a previous salon and took me to a natural blonde with out any further damage to my hair. She talked me through it every step of the way so I knew what was happening to my hair. She answered every question I had and kept me very comfortable. I highly recommend her to everyone.

This review is for Howie H. He was excellent!!! I came in this morning to get a cut and overall color. I had a very basic idea of what I wanted but was open to suggestions. From the very beginning, Howie was kind and patient and was obviously very knowledgeable about hair. Like… super knowledgeable! I say this as a person who frequents salons and has heard many talent hairstylists speak about their craft, but none struck me the way that he did. Great communication skill and easy going, Howie took his time and seemed genuinely excited to do my hair… which is awesome! I highly recommend him!

This review is for Howie, I recently purchased his groupon and was shocked. Why?
Two reasons
1) I got there and immediately could tell he knew way more hair theory and technique than any of the so called «master stylists» I’ve gone to in the past
2) he’s so passionate about getting your hair to look perfect and worked so hard
In short this was the best hair experience I’ve ever had. My ombré and highlights look amazing.

This is a great salon. Marcie cuts my hair and I swear she is a magician. My hair is fine and straight and she manages to give it body. No one else has ever been able to do what she does with my hair. I absolutely love her!
I also take my daughter to Marcie for color and cuts. Marcie is fantastic at helping my daughter get exactly the right shade of red. Her hair always comes out beautifully!

My friend and I had been talking about dyeing out hair a crazy color for over a year. We finally decided to do it last week. I had just started researching salons when she came to me claiming her co-worker’s godmother has been doing hair her whole life and will do it cheap, all we needed was to buy her the dye. I was unsure about this plan from the second she suggested it, but she insisted it would be fine, so I went along. The end result was my virgin hair defiled by an 80 year-​old stylist who really knew nothing about the science of coloring, then she charged me $ 1 for every year she’s been on this planet to add salt to the wound. I spent the rest of my evening in my bathroom crying. I had to get this fixed, like, NOW!
I called A Tamara Dahill Salon mostly because it was really close to where I live and they had fabulous Unilocal pics of people who got their hair dyed fun colors and they all looked great. End result here was EXACTLY what I wanted! Nikki is truly and artist, she took the leftover color I bought and used her freaking magical hair skills to mix them with colors they had in house to make the perfect tones and ohmygod, I am so happy! Absolutely recommending Nikki and the salon to everyone and definitely going back for cuts in the future.

This review is specifically for Marcie at the salon!
She is a fantastic hair stylist. I have been to her many times for color and cuts and she always does a perfect job. Yesterday, I got a Brazilian blowout from Marcie. I have never received more compliments on my hair! She’s amazing.
To top it off, she is always super friendly and makes sure that I feel comfortable. Sometimes I can get a little crazy about my hair and she is always super patient with me. Her assistant, Mary, is also really friendly and always keeps me at ease! Love these ladies!
The salon is cute. It is easy to find street parking or there is a lot in the back.

Brief follow up with the incident with Howie
First they were going to take care of it under certain conditions. Not concerned with the poor workmanship but my Unilocal response. I was leaving for Florida where I had to have someone else redo it. (Have work documented and photos of what it looked like after Howie so called finished.)
Came back to Cali and figured I’d rather work it out then fight.

Want to talk to me take it to court…
Even worse the salon was going to help and I was told there is nothing they can or will do!

This the first review I have ever written, but I’m so happy with the color of my
hair. It is all different colors and looks very natural. It makes me look younger and I feel more confident in my job dealing with the public as a dentist. I was sent to Diana by an employee and I love Diana because she listens to what you want and tries to achieve what you want! She doesn’t cut your hair shorter than you want it, etc. and she is almost always pretty much on time! It is really working out for me. Thanks Diana

I’ve been a client of Tamara for at least 15 years and I consider her not only a Brilliant hairdresser but excellent colorist as well She now calls me her most «difficult» client (just jokingly) as I always want something new and different every time I come in Tamara is imaginative and creative and always comes up with something fresh and makes me look gorgeous The salon is always immaculate and her staff is friendly and approachable Make an appointment on a Thursday– It’s wine and cheese night If you’re searching for a stylist give Tamara Dahill a call I promise you won’t be disappointed

I came in for a haircut. WORST experience of my life. Mary completely butchered me, then humiliated me by claiming that I instructed her incorrectly when I had shown her 6 different pictures of the same BANGS and LONG BOB style cut. I’ve attached a picture of my hair before and after. I wish I had never stepped foot in this salon. Now it’s going to take me 6 months to a year to grow this crap out.

This review is for Howie–
Super friendly and very accomodating. I texted him a picture of my hair which has been untouched for over a year, simply because I’m too lazy. I showed up for my appointment– and we discussed the color and I shoowed him a picture of the style that I though my compliment my facial structure. The kid is a whiz!!! I let him do his magic on me and it came out great!!! He layered the treatments and the best part~ he set up the tent in the parking lot and Howie colored and highlighted my hair outdoors. It was a perfect day to do it. He also served me mimosas!!! Howie is a genius!!! Super sweet and very attentive. I would recommend him to my friends and family.

Seriously just got the best haircut and color of my life.
Anjeza Dixon will forever be my go-​to hair stylist in the LA area. I needed a new look — she gave me a perfectly done long bob that instantly made me feel super trendy and I didn’t even miss the length that was cut. My hair looks healthier and thicker than ever.
For color I wanted my ombré brightened and freshened up. She literally hand painted every strand (balayage color treatment) so the result is this gorgeous, gradual color– no lines or harsh transitions ANYWHERE.
I could not be happier with my hair.

I go to drybar once every few days to get my hair done, however the closest location to me is Studio City, so it’s still a bit of a drive. I looked up places in the Toluca Lake area and this salon popped up. I called them and asked the price for a blowdry. I was only willing to spend 45 – 50 since thats how much drybar is. The receptionist told me $ 40. I thought okay… good price and I made the appointment. I walked in and was seated right away. Cute little salon, with trendy décor. Howie was my stylist and he was really sweet and friendly. He touched my hair and told me he would blowdry and iron and that it would cost $ 65. I was irritated because had I known thats how much it would have been I wouldn’t have even made the appointment. After I explained my situation he was nice enough to lower the price and ended up charging me the $ 40.
I probably will come back here in the future if need be, but overall the situation was kind of annoying. I don’t like being taken advantage of, but luckily it was handled in a professional manner.
