Quest Diagnostics

My medical group switched blood labs to Quest, so I came to Unilocal to read the reviews about the various locations.
From some of the reviews, I dreaded coming here, but since it is closest to my work and opened earlier than the others, I decided top give it a try.
Wow, I am pleasantly surprised!
Check in could not have been quicker, easier or less painless, especially considering I was a new client of Quest.
I was called in just a few minutes after check in.
I informed the phlebotomist Danielle that I was traditionally a difficult draw, and as we talked, discovered my paperwork was not correct, my medical groups issue, not Quest’s fault.
Danielle took the time to get it straightened out so I didn’t have to return for a second blood draw. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that!
Danielle’s draw was painless and precise. No probing around inside my arm to find the vein or switching arms back and forth like so many times before. Once again, greatly appreciated!
I found the front office staff to be friendly, professional and efficient.
Danielle was also friendly, professional, extremely efficient and seemed to genuinely care about my difficulty having blood drawn.
Thanks to Quest of Thousand Oaks for making a usually difficult morning for me quick and painless!

Drove here with a blood order test I got online which lists their hours and they turn me away for not having an appointment, although my test said nothing about appointments only. Hardly anybody was there, either. Pissed. Off.

Was not aware that this was a by appointment only on Saturday so I showed up at 7:40. Not one person was in there but they still declined to take me. I sat in the parking lot watching to see if any appointments were going to show up. NONE!!! Two people walked in shortly after me and left immediately. No appointment. Amazing!!! Paying people to just sit around. Seems they could take someone in if no appointments are scheduled. Will never go back there. Horrible service!!!

First, I’m sure this quest diagnostics is a good business but this review only pertains to my experience.
My doctor gave me a quest diagnostics pamphlet with directions to this location and showed that they were open on Saturday’s and welcomed walk ins. This is a lie. When I got there, there was a hand written note on the door saying «by appt. only». After they basically refused to take me in, I politely complained. Apparently it says on their website that they only take appointments only on Saturday but there was never a reason for me to visit their website.
I wish the staff understood better how inconvenient that was for me. I’ll admit though, the staff was swamped and had little time to interact with me. That makes me think this is a management issue.

Office staff was courteous and the phlebotomist was friendly and efficient. The blood draw was painless and while it was being drawn, I watched a man in his mid-​twenties whimpering and crying («it hurts so much pull it out pull it out pull it out») while they drew his blood. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing but the staff that handled him treated him with more respect than I could ever muster. That is saying ALOT. Five stars for their patience and professionalism today!

I’ve been here three times for routine blood tests. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about! I found the staff to be friendly and professional. Even without an appointment (you have to book WAY ahead), I was in and out in a half hour. My veins are often a challenge, but the phlebotomist was great each time – no hunt and peck.
I’ll continue using this office and highly recommend it!

I have never been treated so rudely. The inefficiency of this office caused many complaints while I was there but I was trying to be nice to the ladies in front and they were still rude. I was number 8 on the list so I knew there would be a wait, but they only took 2 people back in 45 minutes! When I asked about coming back with an appointment (as those 2 mentioned before had) she refused to help and told me in a «not so nice“way to go to the website next time. I went to the Newbury park lab and was in and out in 40 minutes. Polite friendly staff and I was number 7 on the list there. Go to the Newbury Park Lab!

My experience with this lab was longer than I’d like it to have been…
So I get a prescription from my Dr to get my blood drawn, okay I hate needles but let’s do this. I go in the next day (Thursday) at around 12 and sign in and wait, I didn’t know they had lunch from 12:30 — 1:30 so I felt sort of bad that I showed up so late. The staff seemed annoyed, sighing every time a new patient walked in and signed in on the sheet. I get that, you wanna go to lunch ASAP, we’ve all been there. But maybe hide it better…
They call me back pretty fast, I sit down and wait anxiously. The nurse comes in and starts typing things into the computer, asks me a few questions, no biggie. Then she pauses. Apparently my prescription and the tests listed weren’t specific enough (do I get an igg or an iga? or both? is this test only testing for one thing, or another?). So I have to wait for them to call my doctor and I’ll come back. They say they’ll call me if there’s an issue.
As I’m about to leave I say «hey should I take my prescription paper with me?» and the nurse replies «no, we have it here and made a copy it’ll be fine».
I wait for the rest of Thursday, Friday, Sat-​Sun, and Monday. No call, I assume they must have got my info? I go in Monday afternoon and they let me know they haven’t been able to get ahold of my doctor… «The phone rings forever and nobody picks up» Hmm. very unlike my office, but I say ok, I’ll try calling them too.
Before I leave: «Oh, wait, did I not give you back your prescription?» «No…» I get the paper and go, shaking my head.
Tuesday (today) I call my Dr’s office and they pick up within the first ring. … I get the info and speed over to Quest, («oh yay, you got it!») where I wait a while and then am called back, get the bloodwork done, and get out asap.
I’m not sure why it took them so long to get the info, or if they even called at all? The staff seemed pretty apathetic and just bored to be there in general. The girl that did my blood at least had a conversation with me, which was nice and strangely friendly compared to how stone faced they all seemed at the front desk. Luckily blood work is just a thing you gotta do, I won’t be volunteering to come here at all, only when I need to.

Poor customer service and very unprofessional. Out of 3 employees I observed, only on had a name tag. Staff not friendly and pretty rude to a few clients. One of the phlebotomists was complaining about other staff members. Everyone in the waiting room could hear.
Heard a staff member come to front window call a client. Another staff yelled from the back to let her know that she was already working on her. The one at the window them complained to the one in the back about not marking the name off the list. Very unprofessional, this is a conversation for staff meeting not yelled between front desk and back room.
The phlebotomist that drew my blood was rude and not at all friendly. After she drew my blood she ordered me to, «hold this.» Referring to the cotton ball on my arm. A please would have been nice or even a smile.
I’ve been to a few other quests and the service has always been jumps and leaps above this one. I’d avoid this place of you can.

Blood draws have always been a nightmare for me. I’m one of those with small or invisible veins, so the conventional blood draw is not possible for me. I’ve been going to Quest for about fifteen years because of one person. She is now at the Newbury Road office and she is a master phlebotomist. Her name is Bonnie and she alone has managed to allow me to go for my regular draws without fear, bruising or pain. The service has always been efficient. I’ve never had a long wait if I’ve made an appointment and the paper work is handled well by all the staff.
There have been occasions when Bonnie was not in the office and I’ve had a few mishaps so far as difficulty getting in the correct vein, but Bonnie has the gift. and experience to make what is usually a terrible, but necessary experience, bearable.
So anyone who shares my tiny vein problem… find Bonnie at Quest!

First let me say that Suri sucks! If you search for directions for this location, she will send you to the old Civic Center on the hill by the Oaks Mall. Bad Suri!
That said, take the 101 and exit Moorpark Rd heading West (toward the mountains/​ocean). It will be just past the light on the right hand side in one of the bungalow buildings #305).
I showed up @ 1:25 (they reopen after lunch at 1:30), walked right in once the doors opened and was processed and out in less than 10 minutes. The guy who drew my blood (phlebotomist) was friendly, funny (I love a good sense of humor), and professional. No complaints at all.
4 stars because the waiting room could be a bit more snazzy and offer water or something. But, not really an issue for me since I had no wait.
