The Alliance for the Arts ensures the availability of creative opportunity for our community. By connecting arts patrons (that’s YOU!) to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, we together create a legacy that serves our county’s most passionate and most needful citizens.
The Alliance for the Arts is the official nonprofit fundraising arm of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Through our fundraisers and membership program, you support:
Dr. Raymond M Olson Community Performance Grants for local arts groups to take the stage
Kids and the Arts School Outreach Program, to give underserved youth the professional theatre experience
Theatre development through events, infrastructure upgrades, and inspired partnerships
History
Established in 1994.
February 19, 1981 — The Alliance for the Arts is created. Dr. Raymond M. Olson is named Chairman of the Board of Directors.
October 1982 — 1st Annual Meeting of Alliance for the Arts membership.
May 1985 — The Alliance for the Arts is officially endorsed by the Thousand Oaks Council and City Redevelopment Agency as the organization responsible for raising a multi-million dollar endowment fund for a cultural center in the city.
1985 — The Alliance for the Arts initiates Financial Feasibility Study for Cultural Arts Center.
1987 — The Alliance for the Arts enthusiastically accepts the task of raising a $ 3 million endowment fund for a cultural center in the city.
1989 — During the 7th Annual Meeting, the Alliance passes a resolution committing to the effort of raising a $ 3 million endowment fund.
1991 — The Alliance creates «We Need a Place» Campaign to boost efforts to establish an endowment fund in support of funding the operation of the new Civic Arts Plaza.
