This is my second time here to get my tires fixed for my chair. The staff is kind enough to come out to get my tires so I don’t have to push on flat ones. They brought them right out and did payment and all without me having to get out my vehicle Great place with awesome service!!!

Came here to see if they could fix a wheelchair tire for me. They fixed the air stem valve and filled it for no charge. That was very considerate of them. They didn’t have to but they were nice to take a look.

I love Derby! I have bought 5 bikes there and I they have been great. My favorites are the Electra bikes and the Haros. They have Giant, Specialized and more brands. My father and brother buy their bikes there too. They also do my tune ups and service work. Go see Bill and Abe and tell them Scott D recommended them!

WE LOVE ABE! We were referred to Abe to have an older bike tuned up and have some updates done. He advised us of what would be best for the bike based on our suggestions. He didnt try to upsell unecessary items just to increase his sale. He is EXTREMELY knowledgable and knows his stuff. The bike is perfect and we enjoy every ride. Thanks for a great summer Abe!

Going into Derby is like taking a step back into the «good old days» where each customer receives individualized treatment. The owner, Bill, is very impressive. He is not only a subject matter expert on finding the right bike that suits the individual rider, but also listens to his customers and remembers each customer after several years. I ask Bill an honest question, he responds with an honest answer. Bill’s advice was not driven by the price tag on the bike, but rather on the pricelessness of my comfort and enjoy-​ability. Derby is truly an establishment where a handshake is the golden rule. In addition, the store offers a professional fitting service that is worth every penny. Shop with confidence!

I feel like I’ve found one of the coolest bike shops in the Denver area. Delightfully claustrophobic, this place is packed with so many good quality bikes and gear and knowledge. The staff here are busy because they want to actually help you and they’ll take their time doing so. Their selection is actually *much* better than some of the larger bike shops, and you know that you’re getting a good investment on a good long-​term purchase here. If you want cheap (and unreliable), stick to a big-​box store. But these folk obviously care about a good product and a repair job well completed.

Abe at Derby is probably the best bicycle «consultant» around — he takes the time to listen to your needs, asks the probing questions that help target your cycling goals, and presents the available options that would fit your needs. Sure you can find a «professional» that will do the same and fit you into what you want, but Abe just does it better. The selection of bikes at Derby cover most anything you could want among the various brands that they carry meaning that you can find the starter bikes for your little tikes, BMX racers, cruisers, rock movers, road racers, and hard-​core specialized bikes for serious athletes. I was happy with a purchase that I made for my son, and came back to buy bikes for the whole family as a result.
Sure, there are plenty of local and chain bikes stores where you can find a friendly sales person to help you buy a bike, but most of the time I don’t really feel the need to go back. The experience and customer service of Abe, and the rest of the team really put Derby at the top of the list when I suggest a place for friends to go when looking for a new bike. I ranked them ⁴⁄₅ stars only because I had reservations about the service staff — a situation that has since been corrected.

Great friendly service. They are very informative and helpful! I have bought a bike there in the last few months and have had my other bike serviced there. They have always been very wonderful.

I took my trek bike to these guys in pretty rough shape for a tune up and they returned the bike to me in practically brand new condition. I put the bike away for a week before I could ride it due to bad weather and when I got a chance to ride it there was a flat tire. They replaced the tube for free and they did it within 10 minutes. Good place to service a bike. Nice guys with a good attitude also.

This bike shop is located a few blocks from my house, so I wish I could give them a better review, but I just can’t. As others have mentioned I found the staff to be a terrible combination of pretentious and unknowledgeable. For instance when I asked about a presta valve core removal tool I was told no such item existed. Now I know you guys deal in cruisers and are not on the forefront of performance bike racing/​touring, but come on… don’t argue with me. Then I wanted to buy some Stans Notubes from them, but it was about $ 20 dollars more expensive than anywhere else and I got attitude when I asked about it because I clearly don’t know what I’m talking about. There wasn’t a price on the Stan’s kit so I don’t know if he was making up numbers or what. I doubt I’ll visit again which is a shame because they are so close to me. I can handle paying a bit more to support local, especially just to grab a few tubes or something conveniently, but I’m not paying a premium to have an ill informed shop monkey act like I don’t know what I’m looking for or talking about.

I really liked buying a bike here because they check the bike out before it leaves. Try to get the same at target or walmart. I bought the last one at toys r us and it only lasted two months before it fell apart.

Bill and the crew were great! I purchased my bike online, scheduled a pickup with the shop, and when I arrived my bike was ready to go.
They also made a great recommendation for fenders that fit my bike perfectly.

I would like to preface this with saying I have never had to write a review before, ever. I stopped in a few days ago to try to get some information about a women’s road bike. I stopped in and there was a man standing by the doorway who obviously worked there. No joke, he never even asked if he could help me. I said hello, I’m looking to get some information about road bikes because I’m doing my very first triathalon. I wish I were exaggerating when I said, the man ROLLED HIS EYES at me and said, «why?» I thought he must be joking… so, I smiled and told him it’s something I’ve always wanted to try to do. He then again said, «Why?» in a snarky tone. I said, «Well, I used to be a swimmer, so I’d like to try out the biking and running.» He said to me, (oh my gosh I couldn’t believe it) «You’re just gonna keep saying things that make me keep asking you WHY!» He was awful. He proceeded to tell me how he lives in Wash Park and how he rides his bike so fast around there he has to avoid the cop’s radars. He was absolutely rude, condecending and made me feel awful for wanting to try something new. My friend that was with me had to walk out because he was so angry at how the man was treating me.
Spiky bleach blonde hair and tattoos don’t make you awesome. Respect does.
If someone is trying something new, they need a friendly hand to guide them through their questions. You should never feel the way I did when I walked out of that store. Fortunately, I was able to go to REI and I found some amazing people there. They were helpful, kind and patient with me. I spent money there… I will never, ever spend money at Derby Bicycle Center. I also have many friends who I know will ask where I got my gear… I will make sure they know how awful this man at this store was and to never go here.
If you want questions answered, if you want to have an enjoyable experience purchasing a bike, do not go to Derby Bicycle Center.

Just bought our family’s 2^nd bike in as many months at Derby. The staff is amazingly sweet, helpful, and patient. Prices are incredibly reasonable too!

I purchased my first mountain bike from Derby back in 2010 and they were great. Last week I decided to go back in and see Bill, I wanted to se what kind of bike would be best for my type of endurance road riding. He was very attentive to my budget and helped me pick out the best bang for the buck in my budget.
After I purchased my new Jamis Zenith Ventura 1, I went back today to get a professional fit to my new bike. I also upgraded my pedals and new clip in shoes (first time in these shoes). Tom did an amazing job, he is worth every penny and provides a very detailed service.
I have been at a lot of the local bike shops including Performance Bikes and Bicycle Village in Westminster. Both of these stores are ok but gave me the big box retail feel, service wasn’t very personalized and I had to wait just to talk to someone.
The owner Bill and Abe are amazing! They will take great care of you and really do have your best interest at heart. Stop in and give them a try, they can help you get the right bike for you.
I will be back in March to get a bike for my daughter and also plane to ride with their staff this spring. A+ in my book, shops like these are hard to find.

After going to Wheat Ridge Cycle and being treated like second rate citizen for just looking at a bike under 3k, I was really not in the mood to go somewhere else, especially somewhere with somewhat questionable reviews. I’m glad the hubby convinced me to give these guys a chance.
I was VERY pleasantly surprised when we were greeted by a friendly smiling face the moment we walked in the door. They have an extremely large selection of bikes, and accessories, which allowed me more than one or two mediocre options. I had to compromise a little, but I certainly didn’t settle, which was my expected outcome.
Abe took the time to understand where I am as a rider, and where my spending levels were. He explained the difference between the bikes I was looking at and what an extra $ 500-​$ 1000 would get me in the long run. Yes, I spent about $ 500 more than I really wanted to, but at the end of the day I feel really good about it. Abe spent at least 1.5 hours with us, making sure I had a set up that worked for me. I could tell he wasn’t interested in up-​selling me a bunch of junk I don’t need, and he even spent time explaining things to me that he knew darn well I wasn’t going to purchase. The more you know, right?
At the end of a really frustrating day of bike shopping at multiple shops, I walked out not only feeling really good about my purchase, but also feeling like I had spoken to the first person in a bike shop that wasn’t a pretentious jerk. Derby has a customer for life, well done guys!

Pretentious, crowded, and rude
It started off with me going in there to buy a tube for my tire and asking the difference between thorn resistant and tubes with liners and I got the most sarcastic response. I decided to look around and could hardly look at anything due to there being some part or bike in the way of everything. When I finally got to the items I wanted to look at the prices weren’t marked which doesn’t really bother me because I’m not afraid to ask. However, the guy working the desk/​register area grew more and more irritated with every question. I only asked about three different items till I was stared down and I left. This place is a joke of an existence and I’m glad other people have had better times there, but it is obvious that if you’re under 35 and don’t have a family they don’t want you there.

Christmas time of the year and new peddles for two cycle crazed kids will be the best thing under the tree! Bill, the owner remembered me and my son from earlier in the summer when we stopped in to buy some tubes and a bell! He let my son test ride a bike and was very helpful. I remembered that and the fact that a buy back is offered on bikes was key with growing boy & girl of mine!
The only warning I would offer is if your claustrophobic or only like one or two models to choose from don’t step inside Derby Bicycle Center as the selection will make you dizzy! ;-)

This is the quintessential bike shop — wall to wall bikes, parts, and accessories. I’ve bought a few parts and accessories at this store. Every time I’ve walked in the door I was greeted by someone asking if I needed help finding something. A good place to find stuff that the big box sporting goods stores don’t have in stock or even carry. I subtracted one star for the parking lot… Hey, but… what parking lot?

This little bike shop is the closest one to my house up in Thornton so I tend to stop there when my ride needs a tune-​up or, in the case of my most recent visit, it’s an emergency. My friend and I are all set to go out on the first ride of the season when, of course, I busted the valve on my tube. We took a chance, stopped in to Derby and they were so nice and friendly. One of the techs immediately stopped what he was doing so he could replace the tube for me.
I know, I know, I need to get better at these little fixes myself. But until I do, I really like the fact that they are available, service-​oriented and have a fully-​stocked shop with everything you could possibly need for a road trip.
If your bike needs a tune up or servicing, you will most likely need to leave it with the shop because their service area is so busy. But the turn-​around time will be reasonable.
Also, they have group bike rides every weekend. Sign up to get on the email list for info about where and when they are going. I’m definitely going to give their group rides a try.
All in all, I think this place is pretty legit. I didn’t purchase my bike through Derby, so I can’t comment on side of the business, just the service end.
You can tell the techs who work in the shop have a love-​hate relationship to their jobs: they love everthing about bikes and hate the fact that they can’t be out riding all the time!
