Faro Systems

We were extremely pleased with the service Scott Chappell of Faro Systems provided. In the crazy DC house hunting race, we ended up doing three inspections before buying our house (two pre-​inspections in bidding wars) — so we spent a lot of time with Scott. Scott was knowledgeable and went above and beyond to answer questions and provide us with not only information about the house, but recommendations for care and upkeep. He provided a detailed report in a timely manner, but was also available for any questions we might have after the inspection now that we are homeowners. I could not recommend anyone more!

Scott went above and beyond for my home inspection. Beyond the thorough initial inspection, he made himself available for several follow up questions. Even now, a couple years later, I still ping him with questions about my home (recently about a issue with my back deck). He is always willing to answer. I’ve had an excellent overall experience with him and Faro Systems.

Scott Chappell was a great home inspector. He worked with my wife and I to identify several small issues with our 1950s rancher, which was newly renovated. Scott didn’t mind if we asked detailed questions or followed him around the property during his inspection. He spent about 3 hours performing the inspection and had sent us his full report by the next day. Thanks to his careful attention, my wife and I were able to ask the sellers to repair each individual item. We would definitely use Scott again.

Being a first time home buyer his detailed inspection was greatly appreciated and he took the time to go over his process and methods, giving tips on home maintenance, which will help me save time and money in the long run. Called yesterday morning, met with Scott at 1pm — he was friendly, professional and very thorough. He answered every question and concern I had, made suggestions and provided advice on other concerns I had. I was completely satisfied and felt that I truly got my money’s worth and more.

This review is about Scott Chappell, home inspector at Faro Systems. I can’t speak to the other inspectors from Faro Systems.
Scott was recommended to us by friends in the area are handy and practical. They thought he was thorough and detail-​oriented, which are good traits for a home inspector.
We really enjoyed Scott’s professionalism and the patience to explain things to us, both during the inspection and even after. He arrived on time and immediately chatted about the process and his background, then we went to the basement to start. (Order of our little one story house was basement, then outside around the exterior, then ground floor, looked up in the attic, then up on the roof).
He was thorough and welcomed our many questions. We had a relative who is amazingly handy look the house over before Scott’s inspection, so we had a bunch of questions. I think he appreciates people who are paying attention, or at least he seems not to mind at all our multiple questions during our thorough inspection. He did the write up very quickly (that same night) and even a couple days later on the weekend added some things he realized he omitted. Even months after the purchase, I had a couple of additional questions which he promptly answered with good ideas.
I recommend him highly whether you are considering purchasing a house, which is one of the largest investments you’ll make, or if you just want someone to give your current house a look-​over to make sure you are keeping us with stuff that is hard to see.

Scott Chappell of Faro Systems was recommended by our Long & Foster agent, Stacey Styslinger. We had a great experience from the beginning to the end. Scott was early and was dressed professionally. I add the last part to contrast to some other inspectors we dealt with during our house sale and previous experiences.
We received a solid, prompt review the same day as the inspection on July 22^nd of this year that detailed the 3 hours top to bottom, inside and outside along with follow up responses to questions raised walking thru a 1930s house. Scott was clear on the scope of his inspection but was also willing to offer his thoughts beyond. We did have to pay an additional expense that went above the initial quote although that was explained as well. He has also made himself available to come back for additional questions or review.
It was nice to know that Scott was credentialed by a reputable association as well as investing more into his training. In terms of disclosure, we do not know Faro or Scott outside of this experience and accepted our agents recommendation. We would recommend him to anyone considering a home inspection in the DC area.
