Lotus Nails & Spa

If you enjoy getting a good massage as part of your pedicure, stay away from here. It is a rip off. I didn’t like it the first time I came in and today, without realizing I’d been here before, had the same terrible (nonexistent really) massages on my feet and legs. So not worth it.

First off, this place is BEAUTIFUL ! I instantly fell in love with the décor and was positive I was going to have a great experience. I went in with a picture of how I wanted my acrylic nails to be done. And was greeted by Hana. Upon sitting down I asked her if she knew how to do ombré and she said yes and asked me to pick out colors. I started looking through some colors to match my picture but didn’t see any so I shows Hana the picture and asked if she can help me find the colors.
She looks at the picture and tells me it’s just one color. I tell her, no it’s a white and soft pink to do a French tip ombré. She looks again and brings it to the owner. The owner tells her it’s color changing nail polish. Once again I say it is OMBRE ya know where one color fades into the other? Do you know how to do ombré? Then she says ohh okay. Yeah we can do ombré.
I am looking around I don’t see any samples of the designs or colors they can do. So before she starts with the acrylic I ask her to show me a sample of how the ombré will look like and she grabs a plastic nail and starts with the white and then grabs a thin nail brush with acetone and drags is down and then says we only do ombré on glitter.
I told her to just do the acrylic and I will find somewhere else to paint my nails. While she’s doing acrylic I find a nail shop right across the street called Jessica’s Nails and they can do ombré !

First things first, I like this place. It’s clean and the people are nice. I don’t often get my nails done, but have been pleased each time. However, I normally come here for eyebrow waxing and unfortunately today’s eyebrow wax was horrible! I didn’t notice until I got home, because I felt uncomfortable with how the lady was maneuvering my head on the table (I just wanted to leave as soon as possible because of it!) She was pretty aggressive with how she jerked my head around. Let’s just say she took off a massive chunk of my brows and did them way too thin after I told her I liked the thickness. I hate how they just do whatever they want and don’t consider your face shape or how your brows are naturally shaped. Now I have pencil thin splotchy brows — ahh! I really wish I had more confidence to speak up because now I’m scared they won’t grow back. I will definitely be getting waxed elsewhere.

I have been going to Lotus spa and nails for 13 years. I remember when it was Super nails over on South 12^th and Christine was the best kept secret Tacoma. The only way you could have Christine see you would be by personal referral and I was one of the lucky people to get in. My sister and I religiously came to Super nails as it was know back then. twice a month and spent 3 to 4 hours during that time having our nails done pedicures manicures and eyebrows. To say that Christine is exceptional is not enough. She hands selects every one of her team members and asks the customers for feedback on their work and their personality. Lotus spa and nails puts nordstroms to shame. Christine now does my eyelashes and people stop me on the street and ask me who does them. She and her highly skilled team are family .they welcome you when you come in the salon they remember you and you leave there feeling loved and pampered

Awesome place!!! I discovered this place when I lived in Tacoma. I have now moved to Auburn, and have tried a few places up here, but no one does a better job than all the ladies at Lotus. I gladly drive the extra 40 minutes for their great service and skills.

I ended up getting a severe infection in my nails because of her «work» I had to cut my nails extremely short and haven’t been able to even paint them. It’s been 3 months!!! How can you call yourself a nail salon! My thumbs are so messed up and short and my nails crack at a certain length. Seriously frustrated and angry. And very disappointed, the salon is nice and it looks clean, but obviously they aren’t, or that worker was not properly trained.

They DO NOT do shellac. And they do not do gel nails correctly. Or at least the girl I saw, Eva, does not.
I called for an appointment and specifically asked for shellac. When I showed up they asked me if I was there for gel. I said no, shellac, and they said ok. A few minutes later Eva came to get me and asked me if I wanted gel. No, I want shellac, ok.
She gets started and she is ripping at my cuticles. Snip then rip. If the clippers aren’t dull, which they didn’t appear to be, then ripping away from the nail bed is unnecessary, painful and you are more likely to get an infection. And I did start bleeding, which did not deter her from continuing to rip away.
She’s not particularly talkative, so I’m just looking around while she gets started and look down and see she’s using gelish, which is gel (CND is shellac). I say wait, I wanted shellac not gel, and she tells me they are the same thing.
No, they are not the same thing. Shellac is thinner than gel and takes more time under the UV light because it is a mix that includes some regular polish in it (which is why it is thinner and less goopy than gel). I don’t know that I was purposefully misled, but at a minimum they do not know what they are talking about.
She’d already started and I didn’t want to feel like a jerk, so I let her finish while thinking that going forward I’m going to have to make sure to specifically ask salons if they use CND before I sit down.
What I got was a regular manicure done with gel polish, which is also not correct. When using gel or shellac you need to seal the tips (paint over the exposed edge of the nail) to keep moisture/​oil out and because when you cure it under the UV light the polish actually shrinks up a bit. Without sealing it the polish will bubble up/​chip/​etc much faster, although it will still be better than a regular manicure. My nails were also cut unevenly. Started out not too bad, but then she filed them different lengths after the initial cutting.
Sure enough my cuticles were extremely irritated and started to get infected after all that ripping and bleeding, but luckily I caught it early enough to pour some rubbing alcohol and antiseptic on my fingers to keep it from turning into a full blown infection.
In addition to the fact that I won’t go here again because they don’t offer the service I want, I also would never go back because of the poor technique. If I want an unprofessional manicure I can give myself one and save the $ 30.

Everyone is wonderful, Christine the owner is a amazing person, her daughter and her husband are too. I have been to numerous salons and this hands down is the best, the environment is spectacular but what is even better is the way you feel right at home.

Came here with my bridal party for toes and fingers and it is great! We were treated so kindly and they offered us everything we wanted! The atmosphere was a beautiful day spa with great prices! They made sure everyone was happy and even made sure to encourage me to relax despite the stress that leads up to the wedding! Definitely will be back for all my beauty needs!

It was a great place to have our pedicures and nails done for my sister in laws wedding, super friendly overall a wonderful place to go to ! :)

The shop is ran by an well mannered, articulate woman (I forgot her name). Her daughter sits in front in reception. First impression is professionalism. Rather than walking into an open space and having «can I help you» shouted at you, a familiar setting found among majority nail shops, you walk right into a front desk with the back semi/​enclosed. There you are greeted by the owner’s daughter and either asked to have a seat in the waiting area or head back to an available technician.
So far I’ve had my nails done by Eva and David. They have different techniques, but both do a great job and understand what you ask for. My biggest pet peeve is making a request, receiving a head nod as if they understand and not getting what I asked for. You get what you ask for at Lotus.
I do have one complaint. Not solely directed at this nail shop, but all nail shops. Gel polish isn’t best utilized on artificial nails. It’s designed to make polish last on natural nails. Reason: everyone knows manicures chip sometimes as quickly as the day you got it. The oils from a natural nail enables chipping at a quicker pace than with gel or shellac polishes. So why push gel polish onto a customer who has artificial nails? The answer is obviously money, more money for the shop. Since these shops won’t tell you, I will. Gel polish is unnecessary for artificial nails. Save your money. Regular polish will last until your next fill, or longer. Gel actually separates from an artificial nail quicker than a natural nail. These are tips the nail techs should be telling us. After all they are the consultants.
IF this was a practice used at lotus, I would have given them four stars. In the end it is what the customer asks for, but it doesn’t hurt to give advice. ;)
I like that each technician wears a name tag at all times. It makes it easier to remember and request your fave artist upon returning.
To leave on a positive note I do like how meticulous both David and Eva are in their work. David took his time and made sure every nook and cranny of my nail tip was filled and filed to perfection. These are also, qualities not often found in every nail shop, especially while they are busy. Thanks, David!
By the way I moved to Tacoma a 2 and a half months ago and I’ve been to 5 different nails shops. Although there are many shops within a mile radius from me I drive 15 minutes to get to Lotus.

Got one of the best mani and pedis here! Great attention to detail with my nails and cuticles. My shellac french manicure is flawless and my feet feel amazing after the thorough scrub and massage. The salon is clean, has nice modern décor, and the employees are all friendly! I also got an eyebrow wax which was perfectly done. Best nail salon in the area!

Very enjoyable, and papering service. I came here with complete dead feet. I am so glad I came today. What the difference a 1hr+ pedicure can make in someone’s life. I had the $ 50 firewalker pedicure with all of the add on including French tip. Amazing service

Today was my first time at Lotus, and I have to say that I was incredibly impressed by their service. The ladies were absolutely wonderful, friendly, and courteous. I had the pleasure of having a mani/​pedi and both were done exceptionally well. I could not be happier and would highly recommend this nail salon to others.

David is wonderful! I’m convinced those aren’t just eyeglasses he’s wearing, they must be magnifying glasses. Impeccable work on my pedi. I always keep my nails trimmed but I needed a good sloughing since I work standing 8 hours/​day. He pays very good attention to detail & focuses on the rougher areas. Great massage — and for my polish he applied two coats, went back with a special brush and nail polisher remover to clean up — applied another coat — then touched up again! He was very pleasant, great small talk. This was a walk-​in but next time I’ll be sure to make an appointment just so I can have him do his magic again!
Just as an fyi, this is not a rushed process, thank goodness — plan to spend about 80 – 90 minutes for a superb pedi.

I went into Lotus for the first time last week just for an eyebrow wax. When I first walked in, I thought «WOW this place is so nice! It doesn’t smell like chemicals & is clean as can be!». I was greeted immediately & was told politely that it will be just a few minutes. While I waited, my 7yr old son & my 4yr old daughter kept complementing on how nice everything was. I waited for maybe 10mins (not bad for a walk-​in). My eyebrows were perfected as soon as the lady was done. I saw a review on here about how the chick can’t way for her brows to grow back… not sure what her deal was. I was so happy & pleased, that I am going back this Saturday to take a bday girl for the «Princess Manicure» & 1 for myself!

I love this place. The ladies are all so sweet and they care. They pay attention to you when you tell them you have sensitive feet or areas.

Was so excited for mani pedi while home for Christmas. Made 10:30 appointment, was told to wait in the front. 20 minutes later, no one had spoken to us or explained why we were waiting so long.
At 11:00, they put us in pedi chairs and all went fine. However, when we moved to get manis, Tracy (who did my pedi) left me to do an acrylic set for another customer and told me Wendy (who was helping my mother) would do my mani. So I waited 20 minutes while her mani was done, then she waited 20 for mine.
What is the point of making an appointment if it’s going to be so grossly ignored? The actual nail service was great, but I am furious at all the wait time. My time is much more valuable than this, and if I’d known about the multiple waits, I would have made an appointment elsewhere.
