Went to the Friday night fish fry and the place was packed. Found a table for 5 and waited and waited and waited for someone to take our order. We had a great server(Eric) who really was friendly. And we’re still waiting and waiting for our order to be taken. Finally the server finds our waiter in the mean time the people next to us left because our waiter never brought them their food. The waiter did bring them their food once but the order was wrong. The waiter never came back with the right order until after they left. This waiter was terrible. He just didn’t know what he was doing. The food was good once we got it but the service from this waiter was terrible. Been there before and had great waitresses.

The friday night fish fry is pretty good. They have a great hall and everyone sits at bench style tables and chows until they can’t breath anymore. Some of the fish soaks up more grease than the others but it’s way better than LJS. We have had them cater out office parties and the fried chicken it out of this frickin world. It’s very meaty and crispy like a potato chip. The place is nothing to look at, but that’s the point. Shut up and eat.

WOW!!! I used to work here for 10 years in high school and in college. I started off as a pearl diver for 6 months, then was moved into the kitchen as a sous chef, then an associate chef. These were some of the best years of my life! The VFW Hall is well-known for their buffet style of cooking. The V hosts a lot of weddings, funerals and graduation parties throughout the year. Their most well-known dishes are polish sausage w/sauerkraut, roast beef with gravy or Au Jus sauce, the best friend chicken I have ever had and the mosticolli with homemade meat sauce. Fridays are of course Fish Fry nights, and you haven’t had a fish fry until you have been to the V! Hands down the BEST I have had anywhere. The lake perch is very very good, along with the catfish and shrimp. The fries are OK. Their purpose on the plate is to soak up the grease from the fish, so I never really ate them in the past. The V also serves a great surf-n-turf special, along with baked cod, stir frys, pasta dishes and baked or fried chicken. If you haven’t had a chance, visit them on a Friday night. Cheap prices, great food. And a clean kitchen! Seriously, I remember scrubbing everything from the ceiling to the floors. The dinning hall looks aged and a little out-dated, but it’s a great place to visit!
