Food and service was below out expectations after looking at 4 star Unilocal reviews Our sushi order was messed up and then we were asked to pay for the wrong order and the correct order which I had to argue with the staff to take it off the check. Hibachi portion was generous but tasted like a Chinese Buffett instead of a fresh hibachi meal. We won’t be coming back here.

I found this restaurant using the Unilocal app while in TX on business in January. It was close to my hotel and after a long day of traveling I was ready to grab a quick bite and relax. The place wasn’t crowded but I sat at the bar anyway. The food was served quickly and was good. The service was fine and the servers were courteous but not very personable. Still, the overall experience will not keep me away next time I’m in town.

We always order from here but this is my first time tasting other things that i did not order. I made sure to try a little of everything and everything was great my boss order the chicken and broccoli, the broccoli was very crunchy and still flavorful the chicken was amazingly flavored in fact i pour the sauce from her chicken and broccoli on my fried rice which made my shrimp fried rice even more flavorful than it originally was. My other co worker had mixed veggies and tofu, not a big tofu fan but she enjoyed every bit of the meal. WHATEXACTLYMAKESAKISOAWESOME… THEYDELIVER. So they are always our first choice amazing food and they bring it to us at work so we do not loose any extra time going to pick up our order. The food gets an A but the fast delivery gets an A+.

By far the best chinese food in sugar land. They have amazing sushi as well. Wish they would add online ordering so I wouldn’t have to call for delivery.

This place is probably the best sushi bistro in town! I love this place, my favorite food is sushi and this place makes me love it more and more every time I come here. They also deliver, I’ve probably had the deliver 5 times a month! My most favorite sushi they have is the Nemo roll, it’s AMAZING! Also I recommend the spicy scallop hand roll, if love spicy this hand roll will rock your mouth! Im so happy that this place opened if it didn’t I would be stuck with the other sushi bistros that are good but not Aki sushi good!

I came here on Monday at around 3pm for a late lunch. Luckily they have Happy Hour from 3pm-7pm. I was impressed with their Happy Hour menu which has a variety of dishes. For the beverage, I opted to try something call«Japanese Sprite» which is suppose to consist of watermelon, melon, lychee, strawberry and original [guess it means sprite]. Now, I was thinking that my drink would be served in a glass, but I was surprised to find that I was given a bottle of the soda — chilled but unopened. Anyhow, I decided since it’s not opened, I will just save it for a later time so I took the bottle home. I ordered a variety of dishes off the Happy Hour menu: miso soup, agedashi tofu, jalepeno roll, shaggy dog roll, escolar(2 pc nigiri) and Red snapper(2 pc nigiri). I find everything tasted pretty average though I did enjoyed the fried shrimp tempuras in the rolls — batter portion did not seem too hard nor too soft, which makes the shaggy dog roll and sushi a little better than average but not excellent. For the sushi, I didn’t think the fish was fresh. A small part of the rice of my escolar piece also fell on the table as I was picking it up to put on my plate. Nonetheless, it’s not bad. At the end of the meal, it comes the time for the check. The waiter accidentally charged my bill at regular prices rather than happy hour prices. I am sure the waiter just forgot, and he was nice to apologize about it, but I am glad I checked though. One thing that really did annoyed me was a knocking sound during the whole meal. I was sitting at my booth, and I kept on hearing some knocking sound that kind of freaked me out at the beginning because I thought someone was knocking on glass, but I I didn’t see anyone knocking on the glass in the front of the restaurant, and there was no glass in the back. Then, I realized I was near the restrooms, so I thought it was because someone needed to use the restroom, but it was continuously throughout the whole meal I was hearing the knocking sound. Finally, I went to the restroom area to find out what the heck is going on. It turns out every time someone goes in and out, when the door closes, it makes a sound as if someone is knocking. It was super annoying. Maybe during the time I went, there were less customers and less noise, but I would advise others to avoid sitting near the restroom towards the back. Service was quick, interior decorations was nice and decent(a lot better than other Taiwanese/Chinese owned sushi places) save for the knocking sound, but nothing to rave about. Will I come back? Yes, if I want to try their happy hour menu again.

Although the venue was small and quite packed, the service was excellent. The friendly staff made the experience a pleasant one for me and my friend. My sushi rolls were quite tasty and filling. I was looking at other items on the menu and made a mental note to try them next time. Looks like I found a new favorite place to eat. Definitely going back for more.

Seriously one of the best sushi spots in town. Great service and awesome sushi! This is the go-to place for the wife and I when we’re stepping out for a bite to eat! Today I had the scorpion roll and she went with the volcano roll. The scorpion roll was great but next time I’m going to stick with my favorite, the cowboy roll. The presentation of the food is always a surprise, we didn’t expect the volcano roll to have a burning flame in The middle. I always wonder why this place isn’t more packed, I’ve never had a wait to get seated. I can go on about how awesome it is, but just come in and try it. Btw, red bean fried ice cream is a nice subtle desert to end a great meal.

This place is our favorite place in Sugar Land for sushi. They are fast and the restaurant is clean. We usually do the sushi happy hour and get the monkey brain for appetizer which is awesome because it has a huge piece of avocado wrapped around artificial crab meat and fried. All the rolls are great… our favorites if you liked tempura fried rolls is the Telfair roll. We also like for raw fish the Twister roll, rainbow roll, and aki roll. Yummy in my tummy! The tempura fried red snapped is very fresh and light. We get totally stuffed and the prices are very reasonable. Restaurant is always busy so you know the seafood is fresh.

This is my first 5 star review for RESTAURANT and I only giving this review based on the FOODDELIVERYEXPERIENCE and FOODQUALITY that I got. I haven’t eat inside their restaurant, just ordered service. About the food, I’m no sure who cook their food, but all I can say is that they are awesome for my taste. I usually get Combination Lo Mein, and Shrimp Tempura, and their General Tso is awesome, the best so far in my opinion. By the way the restaurant is a combination Japanese and Chinese style, so if you order Fried Rice you will notice the rice is a small grain, but the taste is again top notch. Hopefully their business will last longer.

If you are craving sushi. Go nowhere but to Aki’s sushi and steak. I take out a cup of miso soup and a volcano roll for dinner almost twice every week — and what can I say. I simply love their preparation! The crunchy garnishing on the top of the volcano roll makes it extra yummy(and the chef puts a generous amount too!) Portions are pretty good. The menu says 8 pieces for most sushi rolls but you surely end up getting close to 12!(No complains!) Won’t say this place is cheap… but hey! you are paying for good food! Sushi for pickup is usually ready in 10 – 12 mins. So far, I have never had to wait. The staff is pretty friendly too. Final thoughts — if you are based in Sugarland and looking for a sushi place which could potentially be your«regular» then you’ve gotta try Aki’s. PS. This place is right next to HEB, consider doing some quick grocery shopping as your delicious sushi is on its way!

I came here for HH on a Saturday night and enjoyed it! The HH menu is pretty good and there’s tons of choices. My mom and I ended up sharing the vegetable tempura, shrimp tempura, hot and sour soup, house salad, miso soup, crunch roll, caterpillar roll, spider roll, and jumping yellowtail roll. The jumping yellowtail roll was my favorite, but I didn’t particularly like the sauce on top– a bit too creamy and rich. I would ask them to skip that next time. I will be a repeat customer for HH– it was a steal at under $ 50 for all those items and the service was EXCELLENT!

I can’t remember how I had heard about this place but I finally got around to trying it out today with my kid and I was very impressed! Not generally a place where you would think they would have a restaurant like this and from the outside you would probably think that it wasn’t as good as it was but when you walk inside you will find the décor tasteful and understated. The setting is comfortable and the prices… especially the lunch price is what catches your eyes! Really great! My son and I ordered off the lunch menu and the presentation was tasteful and just right portion wise! I even asked the waiter if he could make me an Arnold Palmer and he was very accomodating! So for a good Chinese/Sushi place in Sugar Land check this place out! The waiter told me the place has been open for 2 years and I would have checked it out much sooner if I had known it was so good! That’s why I love Unilocal because after reading the reviews I said I had to try it out! I’m glad I did! :)

I was never drawn to checking this place out due to the fact that it’s so dark from the outside and that its in a small shopping center. A little intimidating eh? I didn’t know what to expect. But all the amazing reviews made me curious indeed. The place is small. Very clean. The menu is pretty extensive. They have Chinese and Japanese dishes. They have AMAZING specials(lunch and happy hour). The sushi is really fresh and the rangoons are to die for. I love getting the shaggy dog, crunch roll, jalapeño roll(hot but not spicy). And guess what… Sunday’s ALL day happy hour prices. Secrets out. Not gonna lie I thought twice about telling you. I love this place and will continue to recommend it to friends. They pretty much know me already. Check out my check ins ha! They have me hooked.

Very decent sushi restaurant and also not too deep into«Downtown Sugar Land.» It’s right next to HEB! The store itself on the ourself looks ginormous but once you walk in and see for yourself, it’s honestly not that big. Happy hour is on weekdays from 3PM-7PM. Prices are of average happy hour and kind of similar to the regular menu but still cheaper. The hostess seated my party and I, then we were greeted by our waiters. It’s plural because I actually had two waiters! One was a trainee. He wasn’t bad at his job. The service was good. We ordered: Monkey Brains– Lightly fried avocado with crab meat. All you can really taste is avocado but I mean, that’s not a bad thing. 4⁄5 Fried Calamari– Tasted like fried octopus to me. It was lightly fried and laid on top of fried noodles drizzled in sweet and sour sauce. It was okay. 2⁄5 Spicy Tuna Roll– Average. Nothing special. 2⁄5 Crunch Roll– Had shrimp tempura inside. Sweet sauce on top was overwhelming. 2⁄5 Volcano Roll– I only ordered this because of the cool presentation; there was a little flame on the side. But the roll itself was basically a tuna roll. Not spicy. 2⁄5 Shaggy Dog Roll– This roll can never go wrong. 4⁄5 Chopped Scallops– I would definitely get this again. Sauce was perfect. 5⁄5 I would come again.

Aki is definitely a solid sushi place here in Sugarland! My friend was back home in SL and we decided to grab dinner and of course sushi crossed our minds. We ordered everything off the Happy Hour menu, which lasted from 3−7pm. First order of business, we ordered a large sake($ 4). Then, a few rolls – rock n roll, yellow tail, spicy tuna, and so on. Sushi was pretty good and I really liked the fresh yellow tail! Can’t complain when a sushi place serves up fresh, delicious fish. Service was also on point. Our server was helpful with all the questions we had regarding the drinks and even the yellow tail fish. If I am ever craving sushi and I don’t want to leave sugar land, I know where to go!

This is me and my best friend’s favorite happy hour spot once a week! $ 4 large Sake and rolls are all delicious and perfectly priced. We always get the jalapeño roll, tiger eye, and Zero Sen(yellowtail, my favorite). Never have had a fishy roll here. Fish is so fresh! And anytime you get a tempura roll it comes out hot right outta the frier! Which is why any roll with cream cheese inside is the best… Melty! :p Their miso soup and ginger dressing salad is also a delicious starter! And comes out right away!

The boyfriend was craving sushi so we decided to stop by here for the first time since we were in the area. When we stepped inside we both noticed the décor was kind of… off. It didn’t quite feel like we were in a Japanese restaurant. When we were seated and received our menus we then realized why we had that feeling… Aki is a japanese/chinese restaurant. The paper sheets in our menu were dirty and had a odd odor to it, but we didn’t use it too much because the HH items were on a separate menu. The HH menu had great rolls at great prices so we ordered a seaweed salad, shaggy dog roll, and two special crunch rolls. The seaweed salad was okay. For some reason our salad was sitting in a pond of water. The shaggy dog roll and special crunch rolls were delicious though. Our entire meal cost a little over $ 30. Overall, the HH menu makes this restaurant really worth going to. If you can’t make it during HH, their regular menu isn’t too bad. On the regular menu, the average cost for a roll was around $ 10 with their most expensive roll being $ 14. We will definitely be back some time soon. P. S. The sushi menu, presentation of each roll, and even the plates are strangely similar to Samurai Japanese Steak and Sushi’s in Bellaire, TX… like almost identical except for different names for the sushi rolls.

Don’t let the location next to HEB scare you away. Aki serves good food quickly. with friendly service at a decent price. Dropped in on Thursday night for a Daddy Daughter Dinner Date.(alliteration is fun!) He’s hard to please and was happy with my choice.(i know you don’t know him, but trust me y’all, that means a lot.) The place was half full with a lively atmosphere(there was a group having a birthday party that was a little too loud, but, ya know.) The waiters were attentive and food arrived quickly. Plating was pretty and portions were generous. We had the baby tako appitizer to start. I ordered 2 rolls, the Jalapeño roll and the Dragonball, and dad had the sashimi b which is 9 pcs of chefs choice. I enjoyed my rolls, but there could have been more heat in the Jalapeño. Dad liked his choice, found the fish fresh, tho he thought there could have been more of a variety. There was a large menu including habichi dishes. I was going to get the combo fried rice to take back to mom but she decided she was good at home. Our neighbor had reccommended the dish so i will order it another time. Check it out! I think you won’t be disappointed
