On a cold Monday evening, we decided to eat out for a change and tried Casanova’s since we live nearby. We were happy to get a prix fixe menu and ordered soup, salad, and pasta. I really enjoyed the pasta fagiole and my husband enjoyed his salad a lot. I got chicken parm which was awesome, and my husband loved his meal as well(pasta and meatballs). For dessert we had some spumoni which was incredible. Definitely plan on checking it out again!

I have drven past this place many times and never ventured in because I remembered it as a small pizza and snack bar as part of fun station. I didn’t think it would be worth it. However, a friend recommended it and we were pleasanty surprised. The food was good and not too expensive. The bread basket hot and delicious. They had a singer which was nice. The sevice was attentive as well. Some people may find portions too large, but you can order half orders of pasta. We will be returning regularly.

Superb place for great food! I have been here a few times the chef/owner is amazing! His service is good & he is very great with making your order custom to your need & request. Everyone eat different these days. Vegan. Paleos… Kosher. Halal. And his nice with understanding what you want. He’ll make it and his not gonna bang you over the head with the pricing either! I love there shrimp salads & their burgers also! Make sure you stop by and try out their brick oven pizzas too! Happy eatings!

Love their food! Always delicious! And their prices are very reasonable. I usually pick up food and eat at home so I can’t critique actually dining there.

Being a wounded warrior this restaurant made me very upset. I was going there to relax and enjoy a delicious Italian meal but instead my meal was completely ruined. There were no handicap accessible bathrooms despite having a relative call the restaurant ahead of time and the manager confirming that did have handicap accessible bathrooms. So I had to leave. I believe this is against NY law since the restaurant changed names after 1991 when the father passed and the son took over. It is too bad since I know a lot of the food is good. But I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone especially for lying to earn a buck.

Place was recommended to me by a friend. Nice casual atmosphere, and very clean when I visited. Server was attentive and good. The bread and sauces they serve here are amazing. Entrees and appetizers were bad. They had nice presentation, but tasted awful. All the sauces were watery and flavorless. Perhaps it was their bad day?

Casa Nova is extemely family oriented and reasonably priced. When you sit down you are welcomed with an assorted bread basket of bruschetta toast, foccacia, italian bread and some of the most DELICIOUS Garlic Breadsticks I have ever had paired with a plate of olive oil for dipping, bruschetta or eggplant spread. Penne and Vodka and Chicken Franchese are favorites for us. My children love the bread basket alone! Their selection is plenty and I havent chosen a bad thing yet. We have had a party in the party room and our guests have left very happy. The staff is cordial and kid friendly which doesn’t happen often these days in other restaurants. We have seen the owner serenade his guests on their birthday and been made to feel welcome each time we have gone with our children. We have added Casa Nova to places we eat frequently and have had gatherings for our son’s baseball team. The only complaint I can think of is that my kids never want to leave: o)

Since I’m not familiar with Staten Island, a friend recommended this place for dinner and very glad she did! We were seated immediately and our order was taken promptly. While we waited for our clams oreganata appetizer to be served, soft music piped through out the restaurant as we sipped on chianti and munched on a basket of warm bread including focaccia and breadsticks. Overall the clams were well seasoned and tasty followed by a house salad. When our entrees were served, I was taken back by how much food was on the plate. I ordered the chicken francese and my boyfriend ordered scungilli and linguini; both were excellent! The ample portions were enough for leftovers the next night. To top off the meal, we shared a red velvet cake along with a cappacino and expresso on the house; the cake’s icing was a little too sweet for my taste. In summary, we both enjoyed our dining experience at Casanova. The staff was very attentive, food prepared to our liking and for the amount of food we had, the price was reasonable. Will certainly return with friends in tow next time!

After reading some of the negative reviews of Casanova, we must have eaten at different restaurants. I was there last Saturday night for a birthday party. The food was EXCELLENT — from the antipasto to the dessert. I am of Italian/Sicilian heritage, so I know how traditional Italian food should taste. The garlic bread, bruschetta, and focaccia were the best I’ve ever tasted. The eggplant parm was delicious. I ordered the filet of sole oregonata, and even the side of broccoli was fab. The owner made us feel warm and welcome. The atmosphere is casual, and the prices were just right. Highly recommend for a nice family Italian meal.

I don’t know what these other reviewers are talking about. I had an amazing experience at Casa Nova, and LOVED the saturday night Karaōke! The food was great, the chicken sicilian a was top notch and our waiter was very pleasant. Maybe the employees were not there at 11:00 because the place does not open for lunch until 12. I will definitely go back.

Perfectly reasonable Italian food, average service, decent house wine selections, casual atmosphere. My qualifications: born & raised on Staten Island, with an Italian grandmother(who has trained my fiancé in sauce making :)). Beware of the prix fixe menu, unless you want leftovers — portions are big(especially if you fill up on the bread basket), and so you will probably not finish your food(much less make it to dessert). Fine dining it’s not, but I was happy with my chicken parm.

Wow… Servers playing cards at the bar instead of waiting on tables, some knocking back beer in side room, wheezing A/C, dirty glassware and specks in water. Eeew. Could put up with a lot if the food were even passable, but apparently mammoth servings trump food quality and taste. Want canned red sauce, overcooked meat, pasta swimming in oily yellow liquid, limp lettuce for a so– called salad, or freezer burn on your dessrt? This is the place. And what a dump it is.
