History

Established in 1955.

Wolfe’s was started in February, 1955 by our father Robert Wolfe and our Grandfather Charles Wolfe. We are known for our ability to get out spots that other cleaners cannot. Our flagship store is located in downtown Stamford next to the Avon Theater. Our satellite store is located in the Springdale Shopping Center in Stamford, near the New Canaan border.

My brother Kerry and I own and operate Wolfe’s Cleaners and Wolfe’s Cleaners North. We took over the business from my father when he retired in 1990. The cleaning business is in our blood. Our Grandfather Charles owned a very popular Drycleaners in Middletown, CT before joining our dad in Stamford in 1955. We have extensive experience in removing difficult stains and treating your clothes gently.

We sent our king size down/​alpaca comforter to this dry cleaner place to have it dry cleaned. Despite specific instructions to have it dry cleaned, they didn’t follow the directions and our down/​alpaca comforter blanket which we paid over $ 300 dollars directly from a trip in Australia shrunk in half. It should be common sense that if they are going to clean a down comforter/​blanket, they should read the instructions on the tag first on the blanket before doing the dry cleaning. This is totally unacceptable and very careless of them and shows a disturbing lack of detail of getting a very straight forward task.

Came in to fix the the clasp on my skirt. A lady attended to me immediately and very politely. Refreshing and great to be greeted that way on a morning before I head to work. Then she started to fix the clasp immediately. Knowing my boyfriend is a customer, she said I didn’t have to pay. I left her a tip for being so kind. I actually left with my skirt clasp fixed a few minutes later and it was done well. I certainly will be returning here for any dry cleaning/​tailoring needs. My boyfriend also recommends Wolfe’s.

They are accomodating, I’ll give them that. Happy to turn garments around same day and at least they do the work on premise.
If you have nice clothes that you would like to continue wearing take them elsewhere. Several high-​end dress shirts taken here came back with faded colors and cracked buttons.
The cracked buttons thing really gets me. Stop and look at the shirt before letting it go out! Can I wear it after I leave? Will I get to a business destination and realize I brought shirts with broken buttons?
And really… what is going on with cleaners that buttons are being destroyed on shirts — either melted and deformed or cracked and broken off? WTF

They do a decent job on your clothes, but the thing that always bugged me was just how dirty the floor was there. The last time I went in this spring the place was covered with dried bits of leaves; dust was everywhere. I’ve moved on to another service since then because of that.

I got 2 Groupons for them… I used the first. I gave in 9 items to be dry cleaned, and got back 8 with no notification that one was missing. If it wasn’t a unique dress that I knew for certain I had sent in, I may never have realized it was missing. I had to call twice before they were able to locate it and return in. 1 of the other items I sent in came back with more stains than it had before. I decided to get a refund on the second Groupon. Fool me once, shame on me.

I’ve been going to Wolfe’s cleaners for 20+ years and have never had an issue with their work. A few times they’ve even pulled off a miracle. I would recommend them to everyone.

I find Wolfe’s cleaners to be very reasonably priced and do an excellent job on my clothes. I had couch covers cleaned there also, and was totally satisfied with the results. The staff is friendly and courteous, and expedient.
No issues here. I highly recommend them.

Do not recommend, they ruined, destroyed an expensive item of clothing and then would not Pay to replace the item or fix the damage they had caused, stating their insurance would not pay out! Very poor, disappointing service and now left with a big bill to replace this item myself!
