NC Nails

Love love this spot! I’ve tried other places my friends have recommended around San Diego (Plaza Bonita omg the worst!) and keep coming back to Vivian! She always sets me up with the most beautiful acrylics and pedicures. She takes time and pride in her work and it shows. Yes there may be a wait since it’s just a mom and pop shop but it’s well worth it. A call ahead can save you time. I will keep coming back love them!

Could be a wait just like any other place. The difference is the work. I will always be coming here

Vivian has been my nail tech for 6 years. I followed her here from her old salon. She and her husband are a great team. Sweet honest people. I’ve NEVER had an infection or any complaints. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and we need our pampering also. I love Vivian she is the best. Pays attention to detail. Great foot massage. Yes it’s not a quick service. But I go in on my days off so I can just sit in the massage chair and relax. 5 stars for Vivian!

Looks sketchy on the outside but had a great mani pedi here. Took their time, excellent customer service, and just really sweet people. I’ll be back!

Si recomiendo este lugar te arreglan las uñas de un modo que quieres regresar porque son cuidadosos en lo que hacen .hay unos minutos en los que te dejan esperando porque pues solo trabajan ellos dos y hay personas que llegan a depilarse la ceja etc. Entonces si es curioso que van pasando de cliente en cliente por ratitos: p pero vale la pena la espera. lo unico que recomendaría que cuando vayan tengan pensado que no saldrán rápido… ahhh y no esperen ver nada elegante o bonito porque el lugar esta sencillito, pero tienen mucha clientela :) y me da gusto por la pareja que trabaja aquí son súper amables y tratan de que todos sus clientes se vayan felices :)

I posted a picture of what my toe looked like a couple days after I got a pedicure at NC nails. I have been going to this place since January of this year. I tried talking to the owner about it over the phone and she wasn’t trying to hear me out. They have always been nice, but she was extremely rude this time. She told me I must have hit my toe or something and hung up on me. I couldn’t believe that she didn’t want to hear me out Or even offer an apology. I realized she didn’t care about the situation. This was an infection from a bloody pedicure and tools not being properly sanitized. Not a stubbed toe.

«Wax on, wax off»: okay tired phrase, WAAAY over-​used, but I never thought I’d have a waxing experience that felt that simple. No ripping, no lingering redness, and nary a stray wild hair missed. So honestly, it felt like warm wax applied and removed, no flinching!
Mani-​pedi: done been reviewed, I have nothing to add.
Close your eyes to the grime. It’s a sign they’ve focused on their clientele, not the store, and it’s clean where it counts.

Cons:
–Took 3 hours to finish my pedi & oval acrylic nails.
–The store is old (20 yrs) so it’s not the fanciest

–Vivian & Luc are a great team!
–Price was very reasonable.
Came in with a Minnie/​Mickey photo seemed to be slightly difficult to do so I pulled up another photo which they Vivian was able to replicate better. Luc pedicure was great. He paid attention to detail and cleaned my feet very well. My nails were fine. Some slight confusion on design, but for the price they are good. I can do my own acrylics so I’m really picky about my nails. It took a while so my expectations may have been slightly higher than the results but overall a decent experience. I haven’t found a local (within 3 – 5 miles) shop that I really love in this area so it might be a sign to make the trip out to see my regular nail lady but for the pedicures and possibly an in between fill, I would consider coming back when/​if I have the time. 3 stars for customer service, pricing and location to my house. Lost 2 stars for store appearance, length of time and possibly my high expectations. Look at the photos, read my other reviews and maybe it’ll make more sense.
If you’re looking for affordable work that matches the price point and have a little extra time on your hands I recommend seeing this couple because they are truly great people.

This place is convenient because the location is nearby. It’s rough on the outside, but the owners (I believe they’re the owners) are so friendly & nice. & We all know the hardship of a draining cell-​phone battery, but I was able to charge my phone while I was getting my nails done. I got a shellac gel mani & spa pedi for $ 40. ($ 34+$ 6 tip). I’m not really big on getting my nails done, so I honestly don’t know if that’s a good deal or not, but y’all can decide. All 20 of my nails were looking busted when I walked in (I ripped off my acrylics right before I went, so you can imagine how rough they looked + i didn’t even bother on cutting my nails to make em even, lol.) & now they’re gorgeous, so I’d say it was worth it. Lol. I’d go back. :]

It was my first time there and I loved it!!! I got a mani n pedi. I could tell it was the owners there and the husband did my pedi and the wife did my gel mani. They were both very gentle took their time and I love the outcome. I will definately be back again without a doubt. The place Is little and kinda hidden but trust me they do a great job!!! I am beyond satisfied!!!

I’ve only been here once and it was for a pedicure. The woman and man, who I believe are the owners, are friendly. I like the way my pedicure was done. The only thing I didn’t like is that I was there for almost two hours. Dont get me wrong, If you don’t have plans and have the extra time, maybe this place is for you.

I really wanted to give this place more stars but it wouldn’t be an accurate review. The one star is for the owners who were nice and my polish looks decent, but I have to downgrade my review for how filthy this place is. The bathroom was infested with ants and there were no towels or paper towels for me to dry my hands with. The linens used during the pedicure felt like sandpaper and the massage time (my favorite part) lasted for about 2 mins total for both legs. I would be embarrassed to take my girlfriends to this place.

I absolutely love the work they did on my nails when I came in! Although it doesn’t look like much, Vivian and Luc certainly don’t skimp on quality or care. They take their time, making sure that you get the best job they can give! I will definitely be back!

Okay, the reviews are right. It could use a major renovation.
BUT… The owners Vivian and Luc did the most amazing job on my nails.
I have never had them so perfect and exactly how I wanted. They are narrow and perfectly lady like.
The pedicure was awesome. So affordable!!!
It was $ 20 less than where I usually go and they did an amazing job.
Not a quick nail place by no means they really take their time and make sure that each nail is amazing.
Will definitely be back!!!

Although this place doesn’t look like much on the outside, the service is great! Luc and Vivian are very nice and welcoming and I like the small cozy atmosphere. They really took the time to make my toes and nails look clean and beautiful! And the prices are very affordable. I am definitely coming back here and would recommend it to others! P. s. I would suggest to call in advance for an appointment since the place is kind of small.

Great hole in the wall salon! Small but great quality and reasonable prices! Took my mom in yesterday and although she had been long over due for a pedi and was actually embarrassed to get one, Vivian convinced her to let them get pampered (: I do a lot of jumping around/​experimenting with nail salons, so I hope to be back soon! Highly recommend it! But make sure to make an appointment! It can get crowded!

I’m a plain jane kind of girl — just pink and white acrylics. I love pink and white acrylics, but because it’s the only type of set I get, I am very picky about what they look like.
Was recommended to NC Nails through a coworker. I saw that she had a pink and white full set and loved her nails. I came here yesterday right after work. I got here around 5:10 and there was nobody in the salon, which was great for me because I had NO WAIT.
The ONLY slightly negative thing was that I was there for an hour and 40-​ish minutes. I haven’t gotten my nails done in over a year, so it was really nice for me because it was an hour and 40-​ish minutes of relaxing and pampering, but if you’re in a rush or used to the typical one hour, beware. I have no regrets about the time it took and would come back knowing it was going to take over an hour because my nails came out FLAWLESS. Vivian, I think that’s the lady who did my nails, really took her time and inspected every nail to make sure they were uniform and perfect. I really appreciate that. She didn’t take any short cuts doing my nails. If she saw something wasn’t perfect, she went over it to make sure I was 100% happy — I didn’t even have to say anything to her. Now, THAT is great customer service.
Not only was the service great, but I paid $ 38, $ 32 for my pink and white full set WITH GEL and the rest was a tip. TALK ABOUT CHEAP! I don’t know what the standard price in San Diego is because I’ve never had my nails down here, but compared to my hometown and Los Angeles, $ 32 is a steal! They do charge $ 1 for their machine if you’re not using cash, just a heads up.
I moved down to San Diego a little over half a year ago and I haven’t found a salon that I really love. I had a few back where I’m from and then a few in Los Angeles when I went to UCLA. It is REALLY hard to find a nail lady that you love and would willingly go to again. I will definitely be a regular at NC Nails.

Dont let the salon’s appearance fool you. Vivian and Luc are friendly, professional and capable manicurists and pedicurists. Vivian also performs expert waxing. I’ve been coming here for months and I am always pleased with their quality of work. There prices are reasonable.

This place doesn t look nice and fancy from the outside, but the service is great. It is a family owned salon and the owners are very nice and friendly. They did great jobs on Shellac nails. All my nails look so pretty and the charges are much cheaper than other salons I ve been visited. So happy I found this place, definitely will come back there more often, and would recommend it to everyone that I know.
Another thing i want to mention is that they open everyday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm (except Sunday closed at 5:00 pm). But if you plan to come later than 7:00 pm, just call ahead and let them know to wait for you, they are pretty flexible which is awesome.

Great people great place. They are always crowded but always good. go on a day that the people say so when no one is there. I will go again.

I went here a day before my wedding and I went on a whim. It was the best choice I have made in regards to choosing a nail spot. Do not be fooled by the exterior or location of this joint. The customer service Vivian, her husband and daughter gives is the BEST. She did a very good job on my nails and 3 weeks later my gels STILL look new!
Her daughter even read me a children’s book as I got my pedicure. =)
I will be coming back!

This is a small spot — parking is limited. But my nail lady Vivian works here. She does waxing too! She’s the best, at least in my opinion. It’s so difficult to find a nail lady you trust and would see over and over again. I’ll follow her where ever she goes.
