Always in search of the most delicious Mexican food in the BLC! Did a search on the trusty Unilocal app and figured what the heck, let’s give it a whirl. Overall we were satisfied. The best part of the meal was the tacos. Really tasty pastor, carne asada and carnitas. 4 different salsas provided, and 3 of them were super tasty! Margaritas for $ 6– yes please! They were a bit sweet(probably a mix) but a few squeezes of fresh lime gave them the needed zip. I got carne asada for a main. It was super thin and a bit tough, but decent flavor. Wife got fajitas, also pretty good, though felt a bit heavy on the cumin and oregano. Overall a tasty meal. Very reasonable prices. If in the area, I’ll come back in for a taco and margarita!

Most authentic Mexican in Reno. I’m writing this as I eat. The service is great; our waitress is so sweet. The salsa is complimentary and delicious. Guacamole is exceptional, highly recommended.

Awesome little hole in the wall always passed by and glad I finally went in. The owner is really friendly and was greated promptly at the door. It was lunch time so there were only 2 sitting at the bar. As you can tell by the picture the exact 2 guys at the bar. Lol. Ordered food and less than 15 minutes later it had come out faster than I had expected. I had ordered chicken nachos, and a special burrito, both were awesome. Also I forgot to order their ceviche as I had seen the guys at the bar had there’s. But that’s what will make me come back. Don’t know why it took me so long but glad I did.

Pronounced«Chima», this little mexican jem is tucked away in a strip mall off Prater Way. Chema Is a nickname for jose or maria. The owner Jose, has been in business for eight years. The origin of his recipes and cooking is Guadalajara. Every different region in mexico has a different twist on the same dish. For example tacos made in Tijuana are much different in taste, texture and ingredients. Deb and I both ordered the number 10 dish, two tacos, beans and rice. I ordered a chicken taco and steak taco. Both tacos were fantastic, the meat in both were full of flavor. The tacos are stuffed with the meat, cheese Tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lettuce. We ordered the hard shell tacos, the shell was fried, very light and thin and not greasy. The beans and rice are home made every day and are very tasty. We will be back for another tasty meal and to say hi to Chema.

Excellent food at Chema’s and they always make you feel welcome. The service is very good and the food is simply outstanding. If you would like mexican food that doesn’t taste anything like what the chain restaurants have give them a try. You’ll be glad you did.

TRULYAUTHENTIC Mexican food. The owners genuinely nice. The service was awesome. They came by to check on us but didn’t hover. On the weekend the corn tortillas are from SCRATCH! We were a group of seven people all of us agreed that this was probably on the top of our list as best Mexican food we have ever had and yes, we are Mexican and have a lot of Mexican food. We had an appetizer of shrimp with cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, and jalapeño in lemon juice which can be eaten with the chips or saltines, it was amazing and not often found on menus in the US. Our entre’s were puerco plate, chile rellenos, burrito, nachos, enchiladas and a steak combo plate and it was all wonderful. Looking for authentic Mexican food this is your place!

By far the BEST Mexican food in Reno-Sparks! Family-owned, super authentic and freshly-made — everything I’ve had is absolutely delicious, especially anything with chicken(chicken quesadillas) YUM! Within the last couple of years, they’ve slightly raised their prices(now for my husband & I to eat there it cost ~ $ 20, but I always have leftovers for another meal) but that doesn’t stop me from coming… it’s well worth it — I take everyone I know here! One of my favorite restaurants!

We visited Chema’s for lunch before a movie in Sparks. I really liked the owner, loved the chips and thin salsa as a previous reviewer described. Service was prompt and friendly. My margarita was okay, premade mix instead of freshly made. My partner’s shredded pollo was cooked to perfection. My kids loved the rice and beans. I think place has great potential.

We went there based on reviews on other online sites. It is a nice clean place. Service is good. We ordered chicken fajita, chicken burrito, beef burrito and a vege buriito. I had the vege burrito and it was okay. However, my family gave thumbs up one their food. Plenty of salsa, chips and other condiments. I will definitely go back there when I visit Reno.

A good Mexican restaurant and a contender for some the best tacos in the area. I found this place four years ago but I haven’t been back. Four years ago I was blown away by how good the chicken tacos were but found others not quite as good. This last time, the chicken taco was stil good, but not as good as I remembered. But the al pastor taco was better than I remembered before. This might be the place that gives Fresh Mex a run for the money for the title of best tacos in the Reno area. I also got the mixed fajita, which had beef, chicken and shrimp. It was also well done. All good quality ingredients carefully prepared. I’ve seen some other reviews of Mexican restaurants complain about the salsa. The salsa here is not chunky like bottled salsa from the supermarket. It’s Michoacan style. It’s thinner an it’s not made with jalapenos but uses another pepper and I think maybe some garlic. Rather than the spicy blast when you first taste more common salsa you get more of a spicy and(in a good way) smoky, tobacco aftertaste. It’s a distinctive salsa and I like it.
