Unreal BBQ. You’ll get a TON of bang for your buck and leave feeling crazy full. Love this place and the people who work here!!! Definitely coming back!!!

Pleasantly surprised! My family really enjoyed their meals. The meat was seasoned good and tender.

Ordered the lunch brisket sandwich and broasted potatoes. Brisket had no flavor at all. They give you a small cup of Bbq sauce and it tasted like open-​pit. The broasted potatoes were really good. They were huge wedges with great seasoning (garlic, salt, pepper). Seems as if they were really fried I’m not sure. They tried to serve southern style sides, but I would Definitely not touch them. Its sorta like if you go to a Chinese restaurant and see a non-​Asian person cooking it, I would not order it (just me). Sorry, but I will not be back.

Great chicken and mac n’ cheese for a great price! They are cook to order so call ahead if you’re in a hurry.

I enjoyed my smoked wings the BBQ sauce is great the corn is good and the baked beans are awesome would be back again for something different.

Good food, crazy long wait. Depending on how you like your BBQ it may or may not be worth the wait. There is currently a groupon which may be used too. Brisket is good. Pulled pork awesome, ribs are good too… Great atmosphere and staff are fantastic!

People were very nice and welcoming. Ribs were moist and delicious as was the breasted chicken. Glad to have a good barbecue place close to home.

I have been to Arkins on several occasions and the food is terrific! I usually get the Brisket Dinner, but have had the Chicken and Pork as well. Everything is smoked slow and tastes better than anything in the area. Good Work!

We finally stopped in on a Saturday to try some bbq here. I ordered a pulled pork sandwhich and added a side of baked beans. My husband got the smoked whole wings with potatoes and cole slaw. A few minutes later we were told they were out of pulled pork and offered a brisket sandwich for the same price. I’m not a huge fan but it was either that pulled chicken. It took a few minutes and the owner brought our food over personally and apologized again about not having any pork. He had added extra brisket to my sandwich! I could barely eat half. It was very flavorful and tender. Not at all a disappointment. My husband enjoyed his large, meaty wings. The broasted potatoes were excellent — large, seasoned wedges. My husband liked his slaw. I liked the beans but am not a huge fan of green peppers and onions in them so I’d probably try a different side next time. All in all, solid bbq. I’m sure we’ll return!

Arkin’s is a GREAT BBQ place. Good atmosphere, great owner, awesome music, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, some of the absolute best BBQ I’ve eaten! Not just some of the best in Metro Detroit, but some of the best in general. Arkin is using tried and true smoking methods for all his meats, and he runs a great business.
I’ve had just about everything on his menu, and he does it all with the utmost respect for the creation of great food. He uses sauce sparingly, which is awesome! The meat stands on its own (and it’s tasty!), and if you like sauce, he’s got a SOLID in house BBQ sauce for you, which I love. Everything from the Broasted chicken (which is super unique and flavorful!!) to the smoky brisket and ribs hits the mark for well-​prepared BBQ goodness. I recommend the Pit Sampler as a way for you and the family to taste all the sweet meats Arkin offers.
There are two things you have to keep in mind when you go to Arkin’s:
1.) It WILL take time for your food, and that’s a good thing. This is NOT ‘fast’ food, it’s GREAT food. Arkin’s work is an art, and his process takes time. Believe me, it’s worth it!
2.) It’s still a new, family-​owned shop and Arkin is clearly diligently working out the best way to serve up his delicious food to us each day. Every time I go in, the service gets better and better.
I would recommend everyone give Arkin’s a chance. Your stomach and your soul will thank you every time!

This is all I have to say about this place. I try to get out and find great food anytime I can especially when it’s a new BBQ spot but this place really need to rethink how they handle there meat. They might have great tasting food when it comes out if the smoker but then they put it in a stand up warming over for who knows how long then by the time you get your order the meat is just bland and tough as nails not to mention burnt the brisket was tasteless no flavor at all just meat didn’t even taste like beef. When we walked in the door it smelt great and we were ready for some great BBQ and I thought I was going to get some beef ribs but they stop selling them already if they only had a better way of holding there food they would be better I would be willing to give them another chance but the pics speak for themselves.

The ribs were tasty, smoky and tender. The sauce was tasty
The smoky tender ribs had been in the warmer/​oven too long, the taste was washed out/​muted.
The ribs were falling off the bone (overdone) and had no chew.
The tasty sauce was bland, and seemed to lack any real flavor other then «tasty»
The greens were too peppery, the potato salad was solidly good though.

I’ve been to this place multiple times and had different items on the menu before having an opinion of this place.
The service and food quality are the most important factor so let me dive in. The food is above average nothing too amazing or spectacular. Their cornbeef sandwhich is decent but they have no authentic signature barbecue sauces. You have to beg to get sauce, I’ve never been to any other barbecue joint in metro Detroit where I had to ask for sauce.
The service has been one of the worst service experiences I have ever had, ever. Their lack of organization and lack of cleanliness helped me make up my mind about this. The first time I ordered a rib dinner they served me cold ribs. Cold ribs at a barbecue place, talk about disappointing. I don’t pay for food to get served cold barbecue, not to mention a customer had to tell a guy behind the counter to change his glove, he was about to touch his food after handling raw meat. The second time I ordered wings the cleanliness was a huge issues, they handled raw meat then touched the handle of the broiler to shake the wings around, then proceeded to touch the containers with the sides. The third time they overcharged me for a meal, I had to correct them. Seriously !?
The staff is poorly trained, it is composed of mostly family members who don’t know how to run a business. They have all the equipment one would need to run a barbecue place but no systems in place. I have seen them argue or confused about their role and serving the customer. They serve some customers better than others, I don’t know why but I also don’t care either. If your going to be nice and polite to the lady in front of me and offer her toppings on her sandwich, Why can’t I also receive that treatment.
There are too many other barbecue places around with amazing food and amazing service to even consider coming back to this place.

While seriously understaffed and lacking in any sort of organization the food so far is a win. The barbecue sauce is a must try, had it on a half rack and I want pleasantly surprised. If Arkins could get their head on straight maybe hire another cook it would definitely get 5 stars.

Food was subpar. Service was politely distributed but horribly disorganized. They took out order without writing it down. Therefore they kept asking, «what sides did you have?» It took way too long to get our order because they kept forgetting what we ordered. Other customers waiting seemed to be experiencing the same issue. This place needs a system badly.

Let’s just say a new addiction has been identified. I purchased the special «any 2 sandwiches-​pulled pork, pulled chicken or smoked corned beef for $ 11.99» there is a coupon on the back of menu. I choose the pulled pork and the smoked corned beef on onion roll with sauce on the side. It comes with a sampling of fries. The meats were juicy and very flavorful, the fries were just as tasty. The most tastiest BBQ I’ve ever had at an establishment!!! I will definitely be back and soon.

Very good beef brisket… smoked flavor and juicy. Pretty good broasted chicken. The broasted potatoes and slaw were just ok… but overall very good first experience …
will definitely try again.

I had such high hopes for this place.
I got a beef brisket sandwich, it was HUGE. Sadly, it was also dry, $ 3 of mac and cheese was a ripoff.
Can’t go back. I miss the former tenant, Vinny’s so much.

Ok I’m putting them in the middle. The food is great specifically the ribs and the sides. I haven’t had the opportunity to taste their smoked chicken wings because the last 4 times that I have tried to order them they either closed early due to no food or just like today at 4:45pm they are all out. They must do a better job with managing the food supply vs the demand. Most new businesses would love to have this type of demand but I am unsure how Arkins Sweet BBQ feels about satisfying it’s clients taste buds!
