Went in on Tuesday, 10⁄20 for the all you can eat ribs special. Ready to dig into some ribs and guess what… no ribs! The lady behind the counter was so disorganized and was like sorry we are out of ribs and could not say when they would be ready. Anyway I got charged full price and never got full service so I am bummed over the experience. I did manage to get three ribs, they were decent and the sides were very good. I had to leave because I was not ready to stay there all night!

Tepid meat, sides out of a can or jar, and sweet tea that tastes like Tradewinds tea. Huge disappointment. Don’t bother.

Staff was super friendly and courteous. We had the pulled pork and the triple 20. It was very flavorful. We will be back!

Our office ordered Billy Sims for our monthly luncheon and had the food delivered. The food was excellent and a nice change of pace. Many menu items were ordered including the pulled pork, beef biscuit, chicken, sausage as well as different sides. We chose to take one star off because the food was delivered a bit later than the target time. However, overall as an office we were quite happy and will be ordering again!

I’d like to give it zero. Our office ordered from here for our monthly luncheon — I am a poultry pescetarian so I ordered a chicken caesar salad. When I opened the box I found half the lettuce to be dead — black/dark green/wilted. After removing all of that I opened the cup of chicken which was placed inside in a sealed Styrofoam container(I presume to keep it hot which it was not). I immediately feared I would get food poisoning. The chicken is clearly microwaved and the color was a pale pink — yikes! It also had the skin on. After risking a bite it really tastes worse than it looks and the lettuce tastes old. Top that off with packets of Ken’s Caesar dressing which was also probably old. So, the lunch is inedible. It’s basically glorified fast food, but I would rather have McDonald’s than this and I don’t even eat fast food! Steer clear.

Really want to like this place. However they have a long way to go. First of all the counter is dirty with different types of meat just sitting there… First thought is will I get sick after eating here. Service is slow. The corn looked egregiously over cooked. Overall It will cure a comfort good food fix but seriously the royal oak location is awful.

First time I went to billy sims the manager or franchise owner did a great job explaining the menu and also giving samples. He was very passionate about the food which added to the excitement of trying food at a new place. Overall the food was very good, the price point is also good. I will be stopping by again to get food from Billy Sims. The only thing they are missing is corn bread!

I must preface this review by saying that my family heritage is from Lexington, North Carolina, so we are pretty picky about our BBQ, even if it’s not pork. It was my first time here, so I ordered the 3 meat platter with pulled pork, sliced brisket and ribs. All three were fantastic! BBQ sauces were both tasty, whether hot or mild. The ribs were that perfect mix of tender enough to fall off the bone, yet still on the bone, so you weren’t making a mess trying to eat them, BBQ beans were very flavorful, and the mustard potato salad was pretty good too. They got«Southern Sweet Tea» right, which is another big plus in my book. The staff was friendly, helpful, and patient with us as we read through the whole menu to familiarize ourselves before ordering. I won’t drive all the way across town for counter service BBQ, but I will stop in again when I’m in the area, and hope they expand my direction.

I liked the pulled pork sandwich, it was instantly served, no waiting. Good coleslaw. The Mac and cheese was sub par. Good smoke on the meat. My meal was 10 bucks with a drink is go back no problem.

I’ll sum it up for the impatient ones– it’s better than all the other chains, but of course nowhere near Slow’s/Brad’s/Union Woodshop. GREAT: chopped brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, bbq beans, new management GOOD: pulled pork, ribs, atmosphere, prices(3 meats for $ 14.99 — easily two meals OK: mac n’ cheese(bland, as other reviews say) but your kids will like it Be Aware Of: * Pre-portioned meats come out of a locker in plastic bags. I am sure they prepare it there, but it was just weird the first time I saw them open it up. I don’t mean to imply that it’s in an industrial package; it’s just wrapped up, ready to go. Other restaurants probably have much worse, but here they open it up right in front of you and that could freak some people out. * About a month ago when I visited for my second time, the two workers(looked like assistant manager and worker) were absolutely stoned out of their minds. They could not put together a sentence, cracked up several times, and were smiling the whole time with barely open eyes. I really didn’t care as long as they got my food right, which they did, but I couldn’t believe how baked and dysfunctional they were. I’ve never seen anything like it at a restaurant. When I went in yesterday, there was a new manager(extremely friendly and professional) and new staff, who were solid. Overall this place is worthwhile if you want some quick, decent BBQ at good prices without a long wait. At least as good(better in my opinion for the above stated menu items) as Damon’s/Famous Dave’s/Dickey’s/etc.

For a chain it was pretty darn good. Obviously not the best ever but by far the worst. Fall off the bone ribs, tasty chicken good sides. Don’t come expecting Slows or Bad Brads ect. but I would for sure come back. Like I said I’ve had better but I have had much worse and paid much more too. Give it a try.

yea, its good bbq! I’ve been in a few times now and feel it’s time for a review. The Service is great and the food is outstanding. I’ve tried the Brisket, Pulled Pork and Ribs, Mac and cheese, bean and slaw as sides. All were winners. The homemade sauce is tasty as well. the last visit was a carry out pick up that gal who took my phone order neglected to have made up. The gentleman working the food station apologized and offered to get it ready right away. and he did indeed get it right away. In addition to a couple sincere apologizes for making me wait I got 4 free ribs and a big hunk of brisket for my troubles. That, is customer service and valuing your customers time and money.

Love the pulled pork here, friendly employees and very clean establishment to say the least! Always have some sports on TV, the hot sweet barbecue sauce is delicious… I eat here about three times a week… Mac & cheese is a little bland, baked beans are fantastic tho. The beef brisket was ok. I will go back for the pulled pork over and over again, as a matter of fact I’m about to order some now and watch The Lions!!! #golions

My husband and I have been here about 4 – 5 times so far. I love the pulled pork and he tends to try various meats. He really likes the ribs, hot link, and fried bologna. In his words«Fried bologna?! Are you kidding me?» I think the sides are really good. We both like the baked potato salad and the mac and cheese. I love the pork and beans and he loves the cole slaw. It’s nice to be able to vary our favorites when we come. The price is fair. We spend around $ 30 for 2 meals with drinks. I took one star away because we’ve noticed they seem to run out of the popular sides. We tend to dine earlier– before 6– so this seems strange. Also, I wish the toast had garlic butter on it. Regular toast seems bland but that is a minor complaint. Oh, and their turtle brownies are awesome. I’ve never seen so much caramel. Not sure why so many bad reviews. I’d give it a try!

My husband and I are fans of BBQ, so when we saw BSBBQ going in on Woodward, we knew we had to try it. Now, take in to consideration that this is a new store and some of the kinks have to be worked out, but all in all, we were impressed. We are both big fans of Slows BBQ in Detroit and we both thought the brisket, ribs and pulled pork rivaled Slows because #1– the price is very about 40−50% less than what Slows charges and #2-the quality of the meat was just as good, if not better than Slows. The first couple of times I visited to pick up carry-out orders for my accountant husband during tax season. He really loved the pulled pork sandwich. I like the ribs, which have good flavor and were very meaty. These are not the fall off the bone ribs, but just the same, they are good eatin’! I loved the fact that you can order meats by the pound as well! You can order prepared pulled pork(go ahead and try to say that 5 times fast) for 11.99/lb, take it home and make up a bunch of sammies ! Yum! The sides were ok — standard mac n cheese, pork and beans etc. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars were the sides. The green beans are canned and not so good. I liked the Mac and Cheese and my husband liked the pork and beans. I really wish they had collard greens as a side. That would make it the perfect BBQ place for me!

Hard to put this review in the right context. It’s not Slows, but it doesn’t take the 3 hours, end-to-end, that Slows does. I think the pulled pork is very good, but the sauce options need improvement. Sides are solid, maybe with an improvement in the Mac or baked beans. But again, it’s a chain, so you’ve got to stay flexible when making this food choice. It’s a solid, fast BBQ option(which is unique on this side of town). Good job by this young operating crew.
