So-so BBQ, prices are a bit high, and they are REALLY slow. If you have time for a long lunch it can be fine. I’d go with the brisket over anything else there.

We decided to try something different for lunch today– and so we ended up at Kirk’s Bar-B-Que. For lunch, they have a few different meals that are $ 4.99. Think twin pulled pork or chicken sliders and fries. It was a fair amount of food for the price– but the larger sized sandwich meals seemed overpriced. This is not fancy barbecue by any means– and the sauce on the meat is far from stellar(nor do you have any options that I am aware of). If someone brought me this food without me asking it, I would eat it. I would be lying if I said I can imagine myself saying, «Hey, I’m in the mood for Kirk’s today.» The place also did not have very much business. Granted today is a psuedo-holiday for some companies… but if a restaurant in Southfield can’t pull a lunch crowd, they aren’t going to last. There is no such thing as a dinner crowd. Lastly– the fountain pop is Pepsi. :(

I’m not normally a guy to write bad reviews. I’ve worked in kitchens before and know how hard it is. But the new Kirk’s location in Southfield is a big disappointment. Granted I am used to traditional BBQ from Slow’s or Lockhart’s, this place is more of the chicken shack variety of BBQ. My first experience here was with a pulled pork sandwich. It was covered in very genaric sauce and wasn’t that good. Also, the service was slow with employees just standing around. The second time was for the broasted chicken and potatoes. They some how missed the potatoes and gave me beans(which tasted like canned) and the chicken was very soggy. This time it took almost 15 minutes. A little long for my taste for a quick stop eatery. I will not be going here again.
