Lucha’s Comfort Footwear

Today must have been record breaking sales at Lucha’s. I arrive 10 minutes before closing to purchased a gift for a family member. I quickly choose the color and style, note –I was wearing the same pair of Birkenstocks I was about to purchase.
No luck, out of the size. So, I chose another color. No big deal! I was told my the sales person, he would not be able to help me anymore due to his MANAGER wanting to leave. They were closed now.6:03pm. So, I was asked to come back a different day. I love you Amazon.

This is a customer service review.
I called in because I was a fool and got melted butter on my new suede shoes (and yes, they are blue.) I have seen this shop in my town ever since I was a little tyke and decided that I would need some professional assistance, because let’s face it, DIY is for hipsters and I don’t carry mass quantities of organic vinegar and baking soda.
Long story short, Lucha’s does not do shoe repairs; however, their staff was so incredibly helpful and gave me honest recommendations of who I should call – all local – in the spirit of family business back-​scratching. Hipsters like family businesses right? Ok, cover blown.
Longer story short, Lucha’s embodied what quality service to a frantic patron ought to be. So thank you and good day.

I was ready to drop $ 300 on a pair of comfortable work pumps that I circled for about 5 minutes. No «hello how I can I help you». Practically had to measure my feet myself. Then I got a lecture from the older woman (owner?) about how the flats I walked in wearing will only let my feet get wider. But did she suggest any shoes to try on? No, just left the salesperson with me to fetch me some shoes. Needless to say, I was not sold! Looking online for a pair right now.

I don’t know why the a few of the other reviewers had a problem. I have know Lucha’s for years and I have always had nothing but a fantastic experience.
It is a blessing to have a store with an owner that is so passionate about what she does and only wants the best for her customer.
I would never shop anywhere else. Do you really think that the sales people at Nordstrom understand how to fit comfort shoes? No they don’t, all they care about is making a sale as quickly as possible.
I also like to shop small to support the community
Lucha’s also has a fantastic selection. Best of any store in LA area.

So we walked in and the greet was… We close in 10 minutes! Really… You figure as a place of business you would want to stay open to provide the customer enough time to buy a pair of wonderful shoes! However, was thrown off guard by the greeting, I just wanted to get out of there and take my business else where! Thanks rude girl at register!!! You lost probably $ 200+ of my money! I needed 2 pairs of shoes! (Would give a negative star if I could)

RIP OFF
My wife and daughter bought shoes there costing over $ 400 and which caused blisters and pain the first day they wore them. Lucha’s refused to take them back even though we returned them immediately.
This would not have happened at Nordstrom’s.
DON’T SHOP THERE.

A month ago I purchased 3 shoes from Luchas. Two of them didn’t work so I ended up returning them. Keep in mind my mother and I have been customers of theirs for over 10 years. Through the years her and I have purchased several shoes. Today I went in because I still needed every day shoes. I have a metal plate in my left ankle which requires some more time when picking out safe & comfortable shoes. I tried on a few pairs and decided on a size 9 from a great Austrian company. It just so happens one of the owners ended up going to get my selected shoe. She came back and said «we will have to order it because we don’t have the size you want in the color you want.» I explained to her that I am going back to school out of state in 2 days and that option would not work out for me. I walked with her to the counter to get the name of the shoe and purchase a pair of socks.
When we got the counter she started raising her eyebrows at me and lecturing me that I am a customer who costs the store a lot of money because I do several returns. Then she said every time a credit card return is processed they are charged a fee. That is when I politely told her my mother and I have been customers for a very long time and instead she shamed me for doing returns instead of appreciating the fact that we are long time customers who make purchases. She raised her voice and again reminded me with a condescending look and tone (so basically shaming me) that I am a person who does a lot of returns. She said «we have spent almost an hour on you and now you are going to buy this shoe online and we will lose money off a customer who does a lot of returns.» I was horrified at her language and equally at her tone.
I understand being a small business, because my family closed down a business because our business didn’t make ends meet. I understand the argument about returns costing a business money. But this is a store that has been in business for over 20 years. They are an established and reputable company and one customer made 2 returns and is now being shamed?! I asked her have you seen the shoes I am wearing? and she replied «no I don’t look at customers shoes.» I took off and very calmly showed her that what I am wearing was in fact purchased at her store and I was very happy with my purchase. She then leaned over the counter pointed her finger at me raised her eyebrow at me, raised her voice at me and started going again on the fact that I am a customer who makes a lot of returns and I am costing them money.
They have forever lost my business. You assume a certain level of risk when you open up a store and I am not an abuser of their return policy. I should be entitled to my return without the shame and humiliation that came with it. What was so odd is that she has never before today helped me with my shoes so how would she know unless someone told her? I didn’t get the woman’s name but she had short black hair and glasses. Why was I humiliated for my return? Why wouldn’t she end it after saying it once? I was buying something the whole time she was yelling at me and scolding me for being a returner. Oh yah and before my shaming happened she said I was going to get charged so many fees for doing a special shoe request since they don’t have my size/​color in stock. Her inventory is lacking, I am going out of town and don’t want to get stuck with their fees.
Her attitude was dreadful, cruel, apathetic and didn’t care about customer service she was out to punish me for returning my shoes.

After I was turned on to Luchas, I trust that I will find a pair of shoes each visit. And some shoes can be refurbished! They have a large sale area and I’ve found a few pairs 20% or more discounted. The quality of the shoes are excellent and this is reflected the price. I have flat feet and a foot surgery to boot, quality foot wear is a must.
I took my husband there because he was unable to find a pair of dance shoes. He found a pair of an androgynous style, they ordered his size and he is happy on the dance floor at Funky Friday’s.

Great store, selection and customer service, Lucha the owner very knowledgeable and patient. She was able to help and recomended some great shoes.
I will defenetly return here for my next pair of shoes.

Old time great service. I’m on my feet 8 hours per shift. The Payless and DSW were not doing it for me. Lucha hooked me up and now I feel great.

I believe that timing is everything in customer service. It is difficult to provide good customer service at lunch time and at the end of the day. So with that being said, I had a great experience at Luchas. The sales young woman was patient, knowledgable and helpful. She had to special order a pair of shoes and to make sure they would fit, she ordered 2 different sizes for me to try on without me even requesting it!!! The shoes arrived within the week. I later returned bringing my friends who have jobs that require standing on their feet all day but it was near closing so understandably we felt rushed. There was no rudeness just a gentle reminder that they will close soon.
All in all I purchased 3 pairs of shoes and now this is my «go to place for comfort shoes «.

I bought a pair of Keen shoes in Lucha’s today. My wife recommended this place after buying some Birkenstock sandals there last week. They have a decent selection of men’s shoes here. Mostly brands like Mephisto, Keen, Birkenstock, etc. I like more stylish, street-​wear shoes and found a few that fit the mold. Mostly Keen, which is a great brand. All I expect out of shoe store service is that they are friendly, fast and give me relevant options. I don’t need to be best friends with someone or hear about their day… I don’t care. I come for the shoes, and maybe some socks, that’s it. They did an excellent job and I would pay a little more here than buy online just to support the local economy.

They have a great selection of shoes that will cushion your feet and making walking a lot more comfortable. They are a little short on sales staff, so you may have to be patient to get help. The shoes are very high quality and a bit expensive.

First time in. Easy parking. Good selection. Waited on right away by someone who knew what they were doing. Pleasant and helpful. I recommend!

I have several friends who swear by Luchas, and have managed to find «comfy» shoes that are also reasonably attractive. Okay, I’m not talking Jimmy Choo sort of attractive, but good looking shoes.
Today I went in and was actually quite pleased with the selection but the women who worked there were ridiculously unpleasant… not to everybody but to me. They were not particularly busy when I walked in. I spent a good 12 – 15 minutes walking around looking at shoes and nobody greeted me, let alone asked if I might need assistance.
About 12 – 15 minutes later after I walked in my boyfriend walked through their front door (he had been next door at B of A) and within 30 seconds he was warmly greeted and asked for assistance.
I finally managed to hunt down someone to help me and got nothing but attitude:
Me: I’d like to see these in a size 39.5 and also a 40 please.
(6 seconds of silence while she stared ate me not moving)
Her: ((bored, flat and arrogant tone of voice) Uh, what size do you usually wear in American sizes?
Me: Usually a 9.5 but it depends, so I’d like to see a 39.5 and a 40.
Her: (Not a word as she turns around, walks away and starts talking to the other saleswoman)
It took several minutes to mosey into the back room; Several more to mosey back out. While she was gone I found another pair of shoes I was interested in trying.
When she came back out:
Her: Uh, they don’t make that shoe in anything larger than a 39.
Me: Really? [In my head I was thinking that I wasn’t really sure that I believed that little bit of information] Okay, well I’d like to try these in a size 39.5 and a 40.
Her: ((completely cold, terse, uninterested and annoyed) Well, if the sample fits you you can try that one!
Me: Uh, I tried it, it doesn’t fit. That’s why I’m asking to see it in two other sizes.
Well, what a surprise, they didn’t have that one in my size either.
Long story short? Because the sales people (all of them) were so cold, unpleasant and borderline hostile to me I left without trying the several other pairs of shoes I was interested in purchasing.
Good news? I wrote down the names and took pics, came home and went on Amazon. found ALL of them… yes even the ones «they don’t make in anything larger than a 39» in the sized and colors I wanted. AND many of the styles were on 30−50% mark down. Even the ones that weren’t were running about $ 10-​$ 20 less than they were at Luchas!!!
I ended up buying 6 pairs of shoes. I probably would have bought equally as many at Luchas if they could have been even marginally pleasant to me!
I’m a BIG believer of supporting mom and pop businesses, but it’s not likely I’ll support this one in the future. They’re literally 2 small blocks away from me. I’ll probably go in to see things, get ideas, maybe even try stuff on (it could be fun to go mess with the unpleasant lady) but unless their attitude changes notably it’s highly doubtful I will ever make a purchase there.
So in summary my rating is: Great selection, ridiculously unpleasant sales help.

I come here to buy shoes for work, and amazing! I really like the ambience here. All staff are nice and they are really knowledgeable. Luchas have a really high quality products which u will never find it from other store! Their shoes are super duper comfortable! Love this store so much!!!

Bought my first pair of Dansko clogs here 11 years ago, customer service was great.
Came here today to buy another pair of clogs or kitchen shoes. Walked in and there were a few elderly couples here being helped. I was browsing at all the shoes they had and picked a few that caught my eye to try on.
Needless to say I left empty handed. Why? I was never acknowledged or asked if I needed help. The girl who worked there didn’t seem too enthused about helping anyone and seemed like she was being bothered. I agree with other reviews when they say the customer service sucks. This is a speciality shop and when people come in you acknowledge them and ask if they need assistance. Make them feel welcomed, even if they are just looking. They may come back in the near future because of this. But I know I wont… because I wasnt. Train your employees or quit if you hate your job that much.

I have always been the «man with the feet,» except when I was the «boy with the feet,» which should give you a sense of how long my feet have been a bother (I’m 50 now). I am so grateful to Lucha’s. They offer excellent shoes for the wide and troubled foot. Today, I tried both the SAS and the Anatomic and went with the Anatomic.
I’m really astounded by the negative complaints on their customer service. I have had only positive experiences there. They are not all over you which I appreciate. I am always acknowledged and any of my initial questions are answered. I’m then left to browse until I find what I want to try on.
I’d also take exception to the label «Pricey» on the page. Comfort shoes are by nature made in smaller runs than have less demand. No true «comfort show» is cheap. Having spent years buying shoes for those who have wide feet, I would say that their prices are moderate for what they sell.
I highly recommend Lucha’s to those who have troubled feet or those looking for great shoes to walk, run or travel in. One small bummer is that they don’t take American Express, but many smaller business just can’t afford the AMEX fees these days.

You can find a lot of high-​quality shoes all in one place. And they have a wide variety of good, supportive shoes that don’t look frumpy. However, I still left the store not feeling totally happy. It’s not the kind of shopping experience where you «can’t wait to go back.»
I had been forewarned by all the Unilocal reviews about the customer service. I have concluded that it’s a «hit or miss,» depending on who you get. Overall though, you get the sense that the owners have not intentionally trained their workers to be good customer service people. Some of them can be helpful, but you feel like they are a little withdrawn. Helping you comes off like a chore they dislike. Customer service means you serve — that is your main role. Friendliness, warmth, a few smiles go a long way. It is as if the owners are deciding to hire people who don’t naturally have the basic personality needed for service.
Run With Us or Whole Foods would be a good model to emulate. The workers do all they can to consult with customers on what they need. Because there is so much consistency across workers at these stores, customer service is obviously a priority in their staff training.

As the name suggests, you should only come in here looking for good quality comfort shoes. If you are looking for a super uncomfortable Beyonce’s high heels, I would suggest you to look somewhere else.
This place is huge! They have large selection of great shoes from SAS, KEEN, ECCO, BIRKENSTOCK, MEMPHISTO, DANSKO, etc.
Most importantly, people here know shoes n feet. If you have issues with fitting into shoes, you seriously need to be here. You can expect your feet to love you even more.
Some people on Unilocal might say they don’t have the best of the best customer service. Ok… If you are nice, I’m sure people will treat you nicely too. ALSO, don’t come in 5 minutes before closing time and expect people to be super nice to you. We all had long days.
