Everyone here is so sweet and helpful. They have everything you need for dance class weather it be Tap, Jazz, or Ballet. There are dance stores closer to home, but it’s worth the drive to give them my business. The owner Alice is wonderful, as are her employees. Prices are as expected for dance shoes and attire. Bringing the girls I nanny for here was a walk down memory lane. I even got a couple of things for myself to wear with jeans for nostalgias sake (and because they are so pretty)! They have beautifully detailed leotards as well as basic ones. Pants, shorts, skirts, sweaters, leg warmers, tights, etc. Come here first!

Adorable shop that was heaven for my four-​year-​old, who ran around excitedly trying on all the tutus to prepare for her first ballet class. The store staff was very kind (and tolerant!!!) and did a very thorough ballet shoe fitting as well. I never took ballet, and so the staff expertise here to get us all ready was excellent and much appreciated!

Looked all over town for leotards and found this place last!!!
It should have been first!!! All the leotards and dance wear for children and adults you can imagine! Great styles many colors!
And Deanna is very helpful and efficient!

My mother bought my first pair of ballet shoes from The Red Shoes and i bought my daughter’s first pair there. I trust Alice“s experience and expertise to fit ballet shoes and clothes properly. I like the friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The Red Shoes is a throwback to when you could get help buying the clothes and supplies you need for dance classes. You could go online to purchase your dancewear but if you aren’t sure what you need, good luck. Alice and her team will help steer you to what you need and help you with sizing. If you aren’t sure about what you are buying talk to your dance teacher before you wear your gear. Don’t try and return your stinky worn clothes. Plan ahead, the majority of parking is street parking.

I love the Red Shoes! In this age of big box and online stores, how wonderful that a real dance store exists, on a charming and historic street in South Pasadena. I always make it a point to walk around after I shop there. They have a great selection, and whatever they don’t have, they will order for you. I would much rather spend my money there than at a «dance superstore». I found the staff really know their stuff, and they are so nice.

The Red Shoes is a great local source for dancewear and dance shoes. The service is always great with real people present to advise. This is great, especially when some expertise is needed in fitting pointe shoes, etc. Alice, the owner, always takes a personal interest in her customers… Can’t get that from a discount catalogue.

Wonderful people working there, good pointe shoe fitting. I have been going there for as long as i can remember and by far this is one of my favorite dance stores ever! If you are looking for a dance store then you should check this one out! Service is great as well!

I came here about a week ago because I didn’t have any yoga clothes with me and didn’t want to spend a fortune like I normally do on yoga wear.
I was fortunate to stumble upon the cutest lavender shorts that were hugging my body. They are XS and I just wish they had larger sizes! I also scored with a bra top for $ 10, but my favorite piece are these cute blue leg warmers. The quality is well worth the price it is thicker and not like the bad quality pieces you find in Santee. Hahaha.
I also got info about where to take dance classes & look forward to defining my sexy shape…
The owner and her friends are very helpful and friendly… I saw these cute dance tops and with tights they would look darling…
I cannot wait to come by here for dance shoes and more and learn how to dance!

My son has been dancing for years and has taken ballet classes for some time now. He’s had private lessons and been a member of numerous ballet academies. Although he knows that boys typically do not dance on pointe, he loves it and dances that way all the time. His ballet instructors often let him use their pointe shoes and he dances on pointe during class. He’s gotten pretty good.
Now, we walked into the store asking to see their pointe shoes and this old grey haired bat told him that boys cannot dance on pointe. My son asked her again to see the shoes, and she continued to repeat the same thing over and over that boys cannot dance on pointe and could only use ballet slippers. I wanted to show her over 20 video clips on my phone of my son dancing on pointe to show her its done all the time.
Now I understand that is not the norm, but at the same time he was a 12 year old kid asking to buy something that he was willing to pay for but she refused to sell them to him. I know very little about ballet, but I do know about children and I do know about business, and i would never have let a client of mine walk out of my office with the same crestfallen disposition that my little one did when he walked out of that store.
But really I kept asking myself what the hell did she care anyway, he could of taken them home and set them on fire, who gives a shit?
This old lady should be ashamed of herself and publicly flogged for her rotten attitude and outdated mentality. Such ignorance has no place this world, much less in a store that owes its existence to the arts where social paradigms and constructions are supposed to be challenged.
I hope one day this lady walks into a local establishment only to be told they don’t sell to old grey haired women. Sounds silly right?

My sister, my mother and I have been buying dance wear from Alice for years. She is very knowledgeable, accommodating and takes a real interest in each one of her customers. In a time when so much is available online this wonderful little store provides an invaluable service in fitting shoes (especially pointe shoes) which you really just have to try on to know if they fit. We’ve always received the best service and feel their prices are competitive.

My little three year old recently started ballet and tap class. She was so excited, but I was not, thinking only of the amount I would have to spend on shoes and what not. I could not find cheap tap shoes anywhere!
Well, I ventured to the Red Shoes knowing they would have them and cringing at how much I anticipated paying. However, they had reasonable prices on shoes. $ 25. Not too bad. I also bought a little leotard that the bubbah grabbed and wouldn’t put down.
The best part about coming here is the great feeling I have supporting a local business. It’s a tiny shop filled with only dancing accessories. The associate was very helpful and knowledgeable and she gave the bubbah a little tiny dancing figurine which didn’t leave her hands for hours. Very sweet little shop!

I recently started doing more ballet again in hopes of getting back into shape after having a baby. I have always wanted to try pointe again after a brief stint with pointe back in college. I tried on my old pointe shoes and sure enough, my feet have gotten bigger since the pregnancy :(I asked my ballet teacher for a referral to a good dance store that can fit me for a new pair of pointe shoes. She told me to give Red Shoes a try.
I went there on a Thursday evening since that is the only day during the week they are open past 5:00 PM, the parking was tough due to the Farmer’s Market across the street. The girl who fitted me knew exactly what shoes to fit me in when I told her my situation and experience. She fitted me in 5 different pairs and gave me the details on every shoe. I had done some research prior to going there as well as asking my teacher for advice. The fitter did a great job of putting me in the right shoes and brand for my feet.
I made my choice and have been very happy with my purchase after wearing them for a few classes now. I noticed they also have a large selection of leotards and other dance wear, but I didn’t get to look around. I will be back for my future dance shoe needs!

Rude service. Limited and outdated selection of clothing and shoes. Highly over priced. Most of the employees I have encountered over the years are clueless about the products.
If you need dance supplies and don’t know your size or maybe can’t wait for products to ship to you from Discount Dance, I would suggest visiting Gigi’s Dance Closet in Pasadena.

I have never been to a store like this, but my daughter just started ballet and needed pretty much everything. They were very helpful and didn’t make a fuss when I needed to exchange her shoes for a larger size. They even stayed open for me because I was running late. I can’t say much about pricing because I have nothing to compare them to, but I didn’t feel like it was outrageous and everything seems high quality. From what I gathered through trusty Google, the brands that they carry are the popular brands so I’m happy… So is my lil one!

I have been going to Red Shoes for my pointe shoes, flat shoes, tights, leotards and warm ups for over 20 years.
Alice, the owner, is highly knowledgeable and really cares about her customers. She fitted my very first pair of pointe shoes when I was little, and I consulted her about pointe shoe fit over my career as a professional dancer. It is really important to go in the store and actually try on your pointe shoes, as fit is so critical. Alice was so wonderful over the years that I still drop in to Red Shoes even though I’m retired from ballet.
The staff is welcoming and helpful. I have never had a bad experience at Red Shoes or with any employee there.
I love the range of leotards they have! The prices are competitive and it is nice to actually try on leotards etc. to see the fit, rather than ordering on-​line. There is also a bargain bin where you can find some really great stuff.
Furthermore, the store is in a charming area of South Pasadena, so going there is a great treat.
