We are located in South Lake Tahoe, in the Majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains of California at world famous, pristine Lake Tahoe. We are conveniently minutes from casino gambling, world-class entertainment, Lake Tahoe access, boating, skiing, restaurants and shopping.

History

Established in 1975.

When lodging came to Tahoe, the El Rancho Bijou was build attracting vacation seeking individuals. (Staycation was a word that would describe these outings some 30 – 40 years later). The El Rancho Bijou changed it’s name in the late ’90 to the Tahoe Chalet Inn, reflecting the uniqueness of it’s rooms. Family owned and managed the Hotel has always been one of the premier lodging properties in South Lake Tahoe. As the Heavenly Village with the Gondola came about, the Hotel continued to serve the skiing, hiking and lake related adventure seekers.

Our traditions were started by a previous generation, but the current generation is keeping this Hotel ready for today’s travelers. Come join us at one of South Lake Tahoe’s best known hotels. Chances are someone you know stayed with us before.

Came to chalet with friends. We booked the hotel on
and chalet tried it with us by increasing the price when it was already paid. Old woman on front desk was first unfriendly and had a very bad customer customer service. My first impression was either she hates people of color. Room is pretty good and the hotel is close to everything. Parking is small I didn’t see a swimming pool or hot jacuzzi. Breakfast was basic to the 5x power. It’s better to accept the ihop by one get one deal the motel offer. Some amenities offered online is not in the room. We still had fun tho.

Labor day weekend, and we decided to stay one more night. Everywhere was booked or charging outrageous prices for crappy rooms. I stumbled on a Unilocal coupon for tahoe chalet, and we stopped to see if they had a room. Indie at front desk was awesome! She offered us a room for less than my coupon. Then Gerry, the general manager, offered us a suite for a great discount. We had to take the suite! The room was way off in the back, really private. Surrounded by trees and lots quiet, plus loads of wildlife! Beautiful room with a spa tub and comfortable bed. We will definitely be back! 10 stars for service!

To be completely honest, I did not come to Tahoe for a «five star hotel» experience, I came to enjoy the lake, and for a nature-filled late summer-getaway-weekend, so I was completely aware of what I was getting myself into.
Yes, the rooms are quite outdated. I think some simple, cost effective improvements, like new sheets and comforters, could really bump them up while maintaining that Inn quality. They call themselves the «Theme Inn,» I don’t know about that, I couldn’t seem to figure out the «theme» of our room (#105)??? The room was small, let’s call it «cozy,» but decently clean. I was a bit disappointed to find there was no fridge in the room, as this is always extremely helpful.
I really like how they allow dogs, and for only $ 30, that is a deal!
The thing that really got me was the customer service. I worked in customer service for 7 years, so I know how it feels to be sitting behind that desk. I also know how easy it is (not to mention, polite) to greet someone when they come in, even if it’s just with a smile or a simple, «hi.» I encountered several staff, NONE of which greeted me when I walked into the lobby during the whole weekend I was there. I also had a rather unpleasant conversation with one woman on the phone before we arrived ~ I’ll spare you the details, but she was just plain not friendly.
The breakfast is just OK, lots of pastries, cereal, etc.

We stayed here for a wedding we came to, the place is very quant, the price was good, the bed was comfy, we had a fridge, TV, and the room isn’t super big, but good enough for you to be comfortable and do what we needed to do. central location to shops and event areas and the lake itself. Its a little outdated you can slightly hear some creaks in the floors and barely a neighbor noise, but not enough to complain,. I would come here again, its cute

What a wonderful little hotel! My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in a standard queen room. It was small and a little outdated but who cares!!! You’re in Tahoe, you shouldn’t be in your hotel room the whole time! Everyone who worked there was so nice and helpful when we had questions about things to do. The gentleman with the pony tail that works there gave us ideas and directions and was so nice and helpful. The water pressure in the shower is wonderful! I was so surprised. Our AC didn’t work but there was a big fan in the closet that we pulled out and it was perfect. I had a wonderful time here and plan to come back again!

This is a cute place. It isn’t modern but it is clean. We had an issue with our room reservation and the people here made it so we got what we needed. There’s the usual motel room up front by hwy 50 and behind that was a garden, chapel and specialty rooms. We ended up in a little apartment type suite with a kitchenette. They also have romantic couples rooms decorated with different themes in mind.
Our room was on the small side but adequate. What impressed me was although the employee was overwhelmed with a huge number of check ins she made sure each customer was taken care of.
To put the volume of traffic on perspective the celebrity golf tournament was on this particular weekend.

Experience was NOT well. Bought a Groupon deal whose pictures made the hotel look beautiful, only to arrive to a small, out dated room. The carpet was old and moist (we walked around with sandels). There was NO AC! Only those old school wall heaters. We had to use the fan which only blew warm air. The walls were thin; we can hear our neighbors talking and people walking upstairs (which meant we didn’t sleep well). To top it off, there was a power outage while I was in the shower (which was small and outdated too)! I wanted to just get out of here fast! Even with the Groupon deal, this was NOT worth my $ 100! Would not recommend.

I checked prior reviews and thought this was a decent place that had themed rooms which seemed interesting. However, the moment I checked-in I knew I had made mistake. Do yourself a favor and book a Best Western room instead. Everything in the room was so out dated and old (crt TV, old carpets and blankets) The bathroom was in need of some serious renovation. The sink had a crack, the tiles looked dirty and the floors creaked.
The free breakfast was bland and did not match up to the other free breakfasts we had in other hotels. The swimming pool didn’t have water.
All in the experience was below expectation and I wish I had just booked a standard hotel and paid much lesser.

My fiancé and I just stayed here on May 29^th and 30^th 2015. We went to Tahoe with the intentions of finding our wedding venue for our May 2016 wedding! Well we found it alright, we saw this place and needed to look no further! It is beautiful, and very reasonably priced. The room we stayed in «The African Queen Suite» was gorgeous as well. I cannot wait for our wedding next year, thank you Bryan for showing us the venue and arranging our wedding!

I decided to take my teenagers to Lake Tahoe for the first time and we chose this place to stay. As a first time customer, I was very pleased at the customer service, price and the room we were given. Barbara, who works the front desk, went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We loved our room so much, we stayed an extra night! Over all, a great trip and I will stay here again. My only suggestion is not to book through Expedia or any other online entity, contact the hotel yourself and save some money.

This is by far the worst place I stay at. I do not recommend this place at all. Customer service was so bad. Maybe it was just the lady that day but she was no help at all. Our bathroom toilet was leaking. Our comforter was dirty and had spot that was still wet. I book a room at getaroom and pay $ 255 & when I check in I had to pay $ 188. Queen suite with no microwave and refrigerator. When they said they have microwave and refrigerator. I will not go back to this place nor will i recommend this place to my family and friends.

Walking into our room was like walking into my dream bedroom. It had awesome colorful curtains and an amazing four post bed.
I didn’t like that the heater went on way too hot even after we turned it down. After we turned the dial down all the way off it still was on, so we ended up blowing the pilot light out. The continental breakfast was very bland and not that great. The overall experience not worth the $ 100 for that one night.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. We had the best experience/time of our life at this place.
We visited other chapels in the area and didn’t think that any of them even comes close to Tahoe Chalet Inn. We went to Chapel of the Bells for information and literally ran out the door when we saw a couple who just got married there, asking them for pictures of their wedding that they completely forgot to take throughout the ceremony. Even though it was paid for.
We worked with Alvyn to plan our wedding and it was extremely last minute. He was very helpful and was very prompt in responding throughout the whole process. This place was perfect for a small, intimate wedding. Just the way we had wanted it. The chapel is beautiful and the little garden with gazebos is breathtaking. We lived at the Themed suites at the Chalet Inn and it was amazing. The suites were excellent, really private and away from the other suites. The suites were really warm and cozy and had excellent décor. Alvyn made our special day even more special by getting us a cake and champagne. We had a beautiful basket in our room with goodies and a beautiful frame in addition to all this. The day of the wedding, everything just fell in place and it was a smooth and stress free day. Thanks to Alvyn for planning everything so wonderfully with great attention to details. I didn’t think everything would flow so flawlessly with everything.
Alvyn was extremely friendly and he became a part of the family by the end of the wedding. He made our special day a beautiful memory that will be with us for the rest of our lives. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I arrived at 2am and the front desk was closed. There was a note left with a phone number to call in order to check in. The room was cramped and cluttered with old furniture. The shower was small and the water pressure was aweful. While taking a shower the water temperature would change from warm to extremly hot or really cold. No AC in the room, no fridge or coffee. We got a room downstairs on the main hallway and late at night there were people braking glass bottles outside our room.
One of the nights the parking lot was full so we had to park behind the building. When i went out to my car the drunkies were peeing next to my car. UGH! The only good thing was the location but other than that I wouldnt recommend this place.

, je voulais y passer 1 nuit. Accueil jeune, dynamique, authentique, sans faux sourires (j’ai tendance à né pas trop aimer). Très jolie chambre «romantique», dans des couleurs violettes (chaudes), chauffée au gaz (thermostat réglable, effet immédiat). Couverture WiFi parfaite (ma chambre était tout au fond). Puis la neige est arrivée durant la nuit. Au petit déjeuner, la discussion improvisée avec le propriétaire et son papa était tellement sympa (et la neige a semé un tel chaos dans la région) que je suis resté une nuit de plus avec un immense plaisir. J’en suis reparti bien reposé et tout déçu de né pas rester encore un peu… (la réceptionniste, Erika, avait un charme fou) !

The plan was to stay one night… and I’m so glad that it was only one night. Drove up from San Diego for a first time visit to Tahoe. I booked this room because it was decently priced at $ 91 for the night (July 4^th weekend) but I have to say we did not get a $ 91 hotel room.
The room didn’t smell good upon entering. The bedspread smelled like cheap perfume. Found ants crawling on me while laying in the bed. The carpet felt damp, wore my flip flops walking around the room the whole time.
The shower DID NOT drain the water. I was standing in about 4 – 5 inches of water while taking my shower. Does anyone else think this is gross?!
There were TWO things that I liked about this place… we were able to get a later check out time AND we got coupons for breakfast at IHOP.
We won’t be staying here again.

Pros: Really cute rooms, great heaters, wonderful staff, puppy friendly in some rooms (but not all, which is great for people with allergies), not too noisy, and I could hardly hear the highway even though it’s right off of 50
Cons: Internet is essentially nonexistent. This may not matter to some, but internet helps me find things in the area, and its a drag to not have it, especially when they say they do. Breakfast is… like most continental breakfasts… prepackaged pastries & cereal.
I would definitely stay here again, but it wouldn’t be in my top 5
