Heavenly Mountain Resort

This is a review of the SUMMER activities. In their defence, the activities only opened 4 days before our visit.
I agree with Kailyn K’s review. Unlike Kailyn, I was tied up in a meeting until 11:30, so didn’t get to the gondola station until 11:45.
We were «sold» three activities passes for myself and my two oldest daughters at the bottom booths. My wife and youngest daughter just bought tickets for the gondola.
The gondola is definitely worth the trip. The views at the viewing platform half-​way up are brilliant.
The activities look excellent. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try them all. The bottom ropes course was excellent, however we were in the first group of 15 in the line at 12:20 and we weren’t admitted until 1:20 (even though we were told the wait would be 15 minutes). By 3:30, we had done 2 runs on the course (the rules were supposedly 4 runs or 1 hr). The staff was friendly and very safety conscious, but there needs to be more coordination to get people through.
We got off at 3:30 to go and line up for the zip line, but were told it was closed already because the wait was too long. (We found out later that they had let more people on — we saw many disgruntled dads complaining at the ticket office and assume the let a few of them on).
We went down and had a quick go on the rock wall — which was great. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The whole thing had great potential, but I wouldn’t recommend getting activities tickets after lunchtime, and I hope they learn to get people through the events faster and more fairly.

Heavenly adventure peak. Overpriced. $ 90 to wait over 3 hours to do 1 short zip line. Tubing was closed, rope course, carts, etc closed by 3. Total rip off.

We paid the $ 90 to go up and have full access to the activities on the too of the mountain. You can go up and do the observation deck and hike for just $ 44 and honestly I wish we had done that. Right now over half of the 10 activities are closed and the lines for those that are open are horrendous. They were understaffed and the wait times were ridiculous mainly due to the ineffective way that they get people ready for the activities.
Furthermore, we got there right when the activities opened and no one told us that you had to sign up for their longest ropes course so we were really disappointed when we went over to go on it and found that all the time slots were already full… had we known we had to sign up we would have reserved a spot. Instead, we had to wait an hour in the hopes that people would not show up for their assigned time. (Which did end up being the case).
We were able to get to only 3 of the 5 activities that were open and were not able to hike at all and we were there almost from start to close. The park wasn’t even that busy so I cannot imagine what it will be like at peak season.
It did have a few redemptive qualities that allowed the day not to be a total bust. The views were absolutely stunning!!! The staff was extremely friendly and handled the many customer complaints as best as they could. They were also very safety conscious and their facilities were very nice. They just really need to work on the way that they traffic people through the activities.
If you are planning to go before all of the activities are open and they get in a groove (this was the first week they were open) then save your money and just do the $ 44 ticket and if you want to do one of the activities you can pay for them individually at the top. Hopefully they can get their act together because they have the potential to be really great. Unfortunately today, there were a lot of unhappy customers since as I stood in lines and walked around the park just about everyone was complaining about these same issues.

Ok this is the good… ALMOST EVERYTHING!
The rooms are nice, well sized, very accommodating. The staff is helpful and warm. The ski lift is right there. It is beautiful. The day care (we used the preschool ski school option for our 3 year old that was too young to go into group lessons) was great and she loved it. It was a little pricey but worth it; $ 180 per day included her day care, lunch and snack, ski rental and an hour or two of ski lessons. There was also another cub club area that looked fun. The hotel is within walking distance to the casinos, so mom and dad got to have some fun at night. We loved most everything. And the snow was great this year!
The only downfall… a little pricey (but that expected and not enough to drive the review from 5 stars to 4). The restaurants attached could use an update, they grill was good but not great for a resort charging that price for rooms. But the big kicker was that I found a condom in the main tub of our suite (gross) it was in the drain and obviously overlooked. I am not a germ-​a-​phobe and my other half and mother-​in-​law are, so I had to keep it quiet or all hell would break loose. So I quietly stopped to tell the front desk one night on our way out, they were way too nonchalant for how disgusting it was. Anyway, I just bought some bleach and bleached the tub, removed and took care of it myself, but really… not even shock from the desk help? Just a quick, I’m sorry is it still there? Haha
Anyways besides that last piece of info, it was a 5 star stay… maybe we will do it again next year, I know I’ll check the tub first before settling in though.

I’ve been to Heavenly twice now. Weather permitting, this resort has the best views in the whole Lake Tahoe area. You must experience this place!
Lift ticket lines are generally pretty manageable, and if you purchase online ahead of time, you’ll save yourself the wait altogether. Tip: Reserve your tickets at least 3 days ahead of time online to save around $ 30.
The mountain itself is huge, and spans two states. It’s best to pick a meeting spot, if you’re skiing with friends because cell reception is spotty. There are plenty of great spots to choose from, many with lounging chairs and beer vendors. So I guess what I’m saying is that waiting can be fun here!
If you’re into the party scene, don’t miss the Tamarack Lodge, complete with go-​go dancers and a dance floor. If you don’t like pulsing electronic music, and overdressed partygoers who took the gondola up to be here, there are plenty of other options.

My 15 year-​old son and I signed up for an all-​day adult first-​time ski lesson at Gondola.
The first half hour started out fine … our group had a patient, friendly instructor in a small area with a gentle slope. He had us put one ski on at a time and get the feel of moving around on the snow. Then we put both skis on and got the feel of stepping sideways and then skiing slowly down the short slope and then making a wedge (what they used to call a «snowplow») and stopping. We were getting our confidence up and everything was good!
But because the group was large we were split up, and another instructor took over. That’s when the problems started. The new instructor — while clearly a very good skier — was not a good teacher for beginners. He took us (via a rope pull thing, where you grab a handle and you’re pulled up the slope) up a modest slope (maybe 100 — 150 feet long). The first thing he wanted us to do was to ski down a slope between two trees. This might not have been too bad but the slope was SLANTED so that as soon as you started to move you started sliding sideways down towards one of the trees! Most of the class freaked out when this happened and fell down so they wouldn’t hit the tree.
Then he wanted us to go all the way down turning back and forth as we went down the hill. «Turn? We don’t know how to turn!» we told him. He looked surprised. «Nobody told you how to turn?» He tried to demonstrate. «To turn left, put all your weight on THIS leg» he shouted. «Which leg?» we asked. «The DOWNHILL leg!» (Or maybe he said UPHILL leg … in any case I still don’t know the difference).
So … going down the much longer and steeper slope I managed to turn once or twice but then I was going too fast and couldn’t slow down despite desperately trying to make my skis into a wedge. «Stand up straighter! Bend your knees! Throw your chest back! Move your hips forward! Don’t stand up so straight!» CRASH!
It turns out they’d never really told us how to stand up on the skis!
After 3 or 4 attempts down, all but one ending with a crash, I’d had enough of this. So had my son. So had a woman in the class who was actually doing better than us, but muttered to me «I don’t care if he wants us to go back up and do this again — I’ve had enough of this!»
My son and I quit at lunchtime, both saying we never wanted to ski again.
But I must say that our experience was in complete contrast to my 12-​year old son, who was in the kids class and had a very fun and successful day, using the ski lift and going down a real slope («Big Easy») five times. He loved it and wants to come back! (I gave the Heavenly kids ski school a 5-​star review).
So maybe the key is to get a ski instructor who understands how to teach beginners …
And I will say that all of our experiences with the staff at Heavenly were great. From booking the lessons, getting the equipment, asking for help («where do I go now?»), everyone was friendly and professional.
Anyway, a few further notes:
Parking: We were advised to park for free behind the casino next door. I was hesitant about this but by the looks of it EVERYONE in the parking lot were skiers, so we went ahead and did it.
Get there early: Get there way before your lesson starts — at least an hour an a half or earlier — because getting fitted out for boots and skis takes a long time.
Water: I brought a water bottle in my backpack up the slopes with me and lucky I did because I think I would have passed out otherwise. On the other hands my sons didn’t have water and it didn’t seem to bother them.

This was my first time at Heavenly. Previously, I have only been to Northstar which I really loved. As a somewhat beginner snowboarder, I have to say that Heavenly’s mountains are pretty challenging. So I wouldn’t recommend this as a place for beginners.
I was a little shocked at the price for a lift tickets and the food prices are astronomical. I wouldn’t recommend eating there unless you want a $ 13 hot dog.
The slopes were nicely groomed but they were also incredibly crowded.
The people who greet you at the base of the hill were really friendly and informative. I liked them a lot.
However, some of the lift operators were really rude. Twice they made nasty comments to me. I am somewhat of a beginner and make mistakes, such as not loading exactly at the line I was supposed to load at. They weren’t nice about it at all. And another time they were rude about a rope that fell in the line we were in. Clearly accidental but the guy was incredibly nasty about it, saying it was our fault and that he now has to wait for someone to come fix it. You would’ve thought we broke the entire lift the way he was acting.
I wanted to give this place a better rating and was expecting more after I heard good things about this place. But I won’t be back. Will stick with Northstar or Squaw.

Good runs for experts, but crowd up quickly. Poor signage, rather expensive, and beginners are unable to get an affordable lift/​lesson package.

I hate heavenly for so many reasons, and I hate it everytime I go. This last time was no different, but my friends were going and giving me a ride. I should have just hung out at Harrah’d and sat myself at the blackjack table, I would have had more fun.
The mountain is terrible for beginner’s, the runs are ugly and it’s always so crowded. The classes are too expensive (I took a class there a few years back) and this time I could over hear one of them yelling at their poor student. It didn’t look very supportive at all.
My biggest complaint is the rental dept. I had to wait in line for over an hour and a half (!) While other people seemed like they were cutting in the «VIP line». The young guy working there told me the VIP line was for pre made reservations. But it was ridiculous how my line didn’t move At ALL! I finally finally got through but then, I couldn’t believe it— when I got on the gondola I realized they didn’t give me poles!!! I was so mad but at least I still had a signal on my cell so I called the number on the receipt and they said they’d send some up. So then it was more waiting for me up at the top. I arrived to the resort at 910am but didn’t actually get up skiing until 1130am. I’m so mad because I should have just bought a half day lift ticket because of their stupid rental dept. It was asinine too because when I walked out of the rental dept, I realized that I could have rented everything right next door at _​_​_​_​ (forgot the name) and there was NO LINE at all!!! I know because I needed cheap sunglasses to buy so I walked next door. I couldn’t believe how friendly they were and how there was NO LINE!!! I felt like walking back and telling everyone in that terrible heavenly rental dept line to get out and come next door, but frankly I thought the mean young tall guy working there would yell at me or whatever.
Then, at the end of the awful day of skiing, the line back to the gondola took FOREVER and it was ridiculous how people were cutting by going into the handicapped elevator and the worked there didn’t do anything to stop them.
I really hate heavenly!!! I’m NEVER ever going to get dragged there again, even if I had a free lift ticket. Like I said, I would have had more fun at the blackjack tables at Harvey’s.

It was my first time snowboarding and my friends and I got the package deal of lift tickets, snowboarding lessons and gear rentals for only $ 175! That’s an incredible steal from what my friends tell me because I honestly have no clue.
Parking is crowded quick, so you’ll have to come early! Sign in and you’re on the way to get your gear. That Saturday was super super packed!!! The weather was so beautiful and I was sweating through my snow attire. I had to peel off layers so that I don’t die.
Luke was my group’s instructor and he was calm, patient, super funny and extremely helpful. He knew who needed more help and who didn’t. He was considerate to those who learned quicker and taught them separately so they wouldn’t get bored. I unfortunately was a slow learner and needed to take my time. (Only Bc I’m a wimp)
The lifts were super cool and the slopes are awesome. They even gave out hot chocolate near the end of the day! That’s so cute.
BUT THE FOOD COURT WAS RIDICULOUS. the prices of the food was completely outrageous. $ 7.50 for a basket of garlic fries, a cup of Mac and cheese was $ 11??? WHAT IN THE WORLD. note to self: bring food in the car and eat that instead.

Pre-​College life I bought a season pass every year for Heavenly because it’s not really the cheapest pass but I personally think it’s the best bang for your buck out of all the resorts in Tahoe. It’s got good slopes and the price is reasonable compared to the more upscale resorts. I think Squaw and North Star are just a little too bouge for me and I just like the laid back attitude at Heavenly more — also I can afford to buy fries here so that’s always nice HAHA
PRICE:
I started paying around $ 350 – 399 if I bought early, I think now they’re a lot more expensive IMO. Not sure if it would be worth it but I’m planning to check it out for the ²⁰¹⁶⁄₂₀₁₇ season. The lift tickets are around $ 80 – 90 for college students, so that’s not too bad!
PARKING/​TRAFFIC:
I usually get up around 4AM and drive out here from Sacramento and I’m able to find parking very easily — the slopes aren’t super far away, and the walk through the village is kind of quaint and enjoyable! I ski until around 3PM and head home to avoid traffic. A nice ski day is pretty easy and chill! And I’m always looking forward to them :)
FOOD:
I go super cheap usually and I pack a sandwich in a little camelback so I don’t have to pay for the food — and there’s a great little quiche place right nearby the resort {Can’t remember the name} so I just get off the mountain and eat, normally. It’s definitely cheaper to eat off the mountain than on so if you’re trying to save money but you still want to have a good time, bring snacks!
SLOPES:
Great, fresh powder. It’s a pretty huge mountain and there’s always a variety of slopes available for every level. I’m an intermediate skier and Heavenly is great for some blues and blacks. But it’s really up to personal preference whether you like the way the place is laid out. When it gets super sunny and there hasn’t been too much snow you’ll want to be kind of careful because trails can get icy quick! But they’re all fun and I enjoy the mountain every time I go! ONE THING THOUGH: If it’s your first time going it can be a little confusing to navigate even with a map — they definitely don’t have the best signs out and some of them have been covered by trees that haven’t been cut away by staff yet. SO you might get lost — be careful!
SERVICE:
Staff is laid back and friendly! I’ve taken classes here and the instructors I’ve had are very down help you out with what you need to work on. The staff helps out a lot at the gondola with just helping you get on, taking your skis, etc. I’ve been to resorts where they’ve just literally been there sitting and watching as you struggle with all your equipment. I like how attentive the staff is here!
So overall, I still think Heavenly is a solid place but their prices just keep rising! That’s probably my only con though, I’m always pretty happy with my experience here.

First time here during the Valentine’s/President’s day weekend and it was worth the price of the lift ticket! Since I had never been here, I thought the price of the lift ticket was a bit pricey — especially compared to the rest of the ski resorts around the Lake Tahoe area. But after boarding here for a day, the view and the runs were amazing!
We arrived right when the resort opened on Sunday (8:30am) and there was still plenty of free parking. Premium parking is also available for a price ($ 20 I think).
You can buy your lift ticket when you arrive (usually there’s a line) or you can buy them in advance online! Separate shorter line to pick up online ordered tickets.
The lift ticket is a card (EpicMix Card) that you can just put in your jacket. They’ll scan it through your jacket, so you don’t ever have to take it out! It’s pretty awesome and high-​tech since it also tracks the vertical feet you skied at the end of the day.
We stayed on the California side for a good mix of blue runs the merged into some of the green runs in the middle of the mountain. Plenty of black diamond runs too (more on the Nevada side), I think. The view at the top of the mountain on the CA side was amazing! There are many photo ops up there and going down the runs, you get a great view of the Lake boarding down.
There is also a good mix of eateries sprinkled throughout the resort too for a break. We stopped at Stein’s for a hot dog (pricey though). Would definitely consider bringing snacks next time! If you do bring snacks, bring them with you in a backpack or something. Once you go up the mountain, you don’t want to go down (it’ll take too long to get back to the car).
At the end of the day, you can either choose to take a blue or black diamond run down to the bottom to go home or take the lift back down and take in the view as you’re riding down!
We maxed out our time at Heavenly and they were having happy hour! We got a voucher for a free taco with a drink purchase from the bar. Steal and great way to wrap up the day!

The good — Arguably one of the best resorts for skiing in the Tahoe area.
The bad — Money money money, moneyyy. Moh money. This what many say about the Vail group: The will do anything to make more money.
The ugly — When you call on the phone, do not believe the people that answer (if you are lucky to get them on the phone to begin with). They told my wife over the phone twice that season tickets for skiing include mountain biking in the summer. Not so (ended costing us $ 300 additional for day riding passes)! On another occasion they told me over the phone that the price for ski classes when paid for over the phone was the same as online. Not so! Online is about 20% cheaper (about $ 100 added ski class cost for us and so we later did not sign up the other older kids as a result). To summarize, it cost us more money to visit than we expected. Otherwise, the rating would clearly have been better. This year we plan to ski about two weeks because we have the passes and booked the lodging in advance. I do not expect to ski here next year.
NOTE: I do not usually post mediocre reviews (three stars). But in this case I am torn between the great resort for skiing, and the hollow phone service and related costs.

Heavenly has the highest peak in the Lake Tahoe area, but it also has some of the longest lines! Try to go on a Sunday if possible – it will be less crowded than Saturday. Also, try to skip the gondula and drive up to the other side of the mountain. It took me like an hour to get my lift tix and get up the gondula. Overall though, a fun experience!
PROS:
–There are so many slopes – you can always find a slope that’s not crowded. Also, it usually clears out the close you get to 4pm.
–Amazing view of Lake Tahoe from the gondula and the peak of the mountain!
CONS:
–They close at 4pm since there’s no lighting! This was so disappointing!
–Tickets are more expensive than other resorts – upward to $ 130!
–Even though I bought my ticket online, I still had to wait in the same line as someone who had not bought their ticket yet, because I made my purchase through a third party! All I needed to do was transfer my printed ticket to my Epic pass, but had to wait in line with all the other people. This made no sense to me.
–I couldn’t find any free parking.

Though the winters are cold, I’ll make the most of it and chase the snow before beach season arrives. It may not be for everyone, but snowboarding is something I thoroughly enjoy. Even if I’m a gear whore. That and during the spring and summer, golf just seems so boring I think I’ll pick up wake boarding.
Enough of the intro —
So I’ll break this down without making you all read a wikipedia page of useless background history.
Rentals — Comparing to what we have on the east coast, which is $ 60 for board and boots. Regardless if all you need is just one of the two. Heavenly resort supplied one of our guys with some Flow single BOA boots for $ 30 for two days and they looked pretty new condition. Not bad eh? What killed it was, that we arrived before the Gondola lines were forming to open. By the time he got done waiting in line to pay, the line had all but disappeared. So over 30 mins. Good idea, get your rentals as soon as the store opens so you don’t bum out your friends waiting for you.
Lift tickets — Buy early online and if it’s three days or more, the prices come out to $ 108. Two day passes, it’ll still be $ 125. Even smarter idea if you have signal, forget waiting in line for a lift ticket. Buy the ticket right on the site, and pick up for the VERY SHORT will call line. Unless you just like waiting in lines, then that’s all you.
Slopes — As the week progress, the powder was pretty good Wed-​Thursday, then getting more compressed as Friday went on. By Saturday mid-​day and all the people attending, it’s pretty much packed in.
There could be more markers especially when a trail leads to another trail that when it takes you to various lifts right before a split.
Getting to the California side and back to the gondola’s is a pain, even more so when it’s a weekend. The only lift back is the Sky Express and with the crazy long lines, we waited one foot binded in for about 15 – 20 mins. Even then riding the Skyline trail, there aren’t markers to direct you especially if you’re bombing the runs. Just remember, California Trail takes you to, you guessed it, the California Side. Try not to forget that when you’re going full speed from the Skyline Trail.
Newbies — Avoid the big easy. It’s so flat and packed, you’ll waste more energy trying to get back to Tamarack and trying not to catch an edge. Just hit a decent blue nearby. You’ll have more fun.
Would I come back and recommend Heavenly? For first timers, why not especially since you can get a good deal on an AirBnB nearby and walk. There are casino’s nearby so there’s stuff to do after shredding and resting up. Just bring your own lunch if you want to avoid outrageously priced subpar food.

I can’t get over how amazing this park is. It’s name aptly describes the conditions: heavenly.
Came on a Monday after it had snowed the night before. Service was awesome. My group had ordered lift tickets a week ahead and saved $ 25. They werent mailed to our house (in socal) on time, and when we talked to guest services, they immediately printed us tickets, no hassle. While boarding I lost my lift ticket and got it replaced hassle-​free after I showed my ID.
The ski lift pass can be recharged for multiple visits, so you don’t have to throw away a pass after a day! Another plus: you only have to scan your lift ticket at the bottom of the main lifts. Then you pass through subsequent lifts higher up the mountain without needing to be re-​scanned.
Snow was the softest snow I’ve ever felt. There were both groomed and ungroomed areas that you can visit depending on your love for moguls. There weren’t that many terrain/​park areas, but who cares when you have powder? If you want to take a break, there are many restaurants at the tops of multiple mountains.
I love you so much, Heavenly. I wish you were closer. But it’s okay, I’d drive 8 hours to see you again. Or fly.

I LOVE HEAVENLY!!!
Heavenly is a great mountain for intermediate-​advanced skiers. The terrain is diverse from California to Nevada and the views are unparalleled. The view of the lake in California is spectacular, and the contrast of the snowy mountains against the desert in Nevada is stunning.
A skiers paradise.
For those who don’t ski or board, there is a gondola and tram to take you to the top and take in the views.
A must see when in South Tahoe.

We love Heavenly. Super close to our house & tons of runs. Recently my son dropped his phone while waiting for us to pick him up. It dropped in the most random, hard to reach spot off the deck & into a drain. It was at the end of the day. Security listened to our problem & walked over to the area. They told us they would let maintenance know. We went home thinking it was gone for good. The next day, we went to check before heading back up the mountain. We could see a ladder nearby. Two guys approached us & asked if we were the ones who lost the phone (obvious since we were staring upwards. They said they found it & just turned it into lost & found. WOW, were we pleasantly surprised. They easily could have «said» that they looked but we love that they actually did. Thank you Heavenly for going the extra mile. We appreciate you.

Kirkwood is actually my preferred ski /​snowboard resort in South Tahoe. However, I recently visited Heavenly with some friends. The power conditions were sick! Therefore I had a lot of fun. I also like that ski passes are now all digitized. However, I really didn’t enjoy the long wait to buy passes and at the lifts. Nor did I appreciate the high food and drink prices. But I’m sure I’m in the minority.

This mountain is what skiers dreams are made of.
The place is paradise… I mean Heaven!
I went there right when they opened partially in November and I was blown away by the view. The view of Lake Tahoe skiing down the slope is to-​die-​for!
There were few slopes/​lifts open when I was there for the opening weekend, but it was fun nevertheless. The restaurant was also good, burgers were filling and garlic fries were tasty. Not insanely expensive — just about average price for ski resorts.
The lift tickets and rentals were definitely expensive ($ 119 for single day lift ticket whoa) but once you start skiing down the slope and see the view you’ll realize it was well worth it. I recommend taking a video of the lake from above. (I just used my iphone and it worked great)
Other ski resorts are cheaper and can offer great runs as well, but not the same view.
The Gondola ride (~20 mins long) can also be used to bring family and non-​skiers to the base of the mountain to explore the area.
Beware: during stormy days they put the lifts and even gondola under wind control — aka stop the lifts — and so your plans might be hindered for atleast a few hours in certain conditions. Other resorts like Sierra wont have that problem. (but they also wont have the gorgeous views!!!)

Was here MLK weekend. Granted, it was more crowded than it probably normally is, but had to wait in line for 1.5 hours to buy a $ 135 lift ticket. When the lifts only run for ~7 hours, taking a 1.5 hour chunk out of my snowboarding time is huge, and at their prices, nearly a $ 40 value.
In my opinion, it’s simply unacceptable to treat your customers this way.

Coming here multiple times over the past 5 years, Heavenly is definitely our go-​to fix since we can’t have Whistler village and Whistler/​Blackcomb by us. It’s like a smaller version of that village and set up which is nice. The village itself is fun to walk around especially for après-​ski post snowboarding/​skiing.
Value: Lift tickets are ridiculously priced. $ 150 for an adult lift ticket at the window, $ 106 online. It seems like a lot for one day on the slopes. Factor in rental if you are going that route, and that will easily run you $ 200 – 300 for one day.
Food: The food actually has improved since the last time we visited here. On the Nevada side, the East Peak Lodge actually had some amazing salads. But again, SO pricey. 1 sandwich with a side salad and drink was $ 27. !!! Better off bringing your own food.
Staff: Everyone here was SO friendly and accommodating. Super chill people and we were always able to find someone to help us at the lodges. On the slopes, it was a bit harder to find help — ski patrol was almost non-​existent on the weekend we went (MLK holiday).
Lifts: most of the lifts here are high speed lifts which I prefer. If you go to the Nevada side, there are still some old school lifts that seriously feel like you’re driving behind a Sunday driver. Hard when you simply wanna hit some runs.
Terrain: I’m an intermediate rider and prefer blue open runs, which they have many of those here. However, after a powder day, those get choppy and ground up pretty fast. Not totally a problem for me — but what is a problem is that there are SO MANY CATTRACKS. UHG. Painful for a snowboarder. You have to have major speed and a good wax job to power through those. Otherwise you’re walking, which sucks. It’s more skiier friendly, honestly. However, despite the cattracks, when you get on a good open run, man, it’s so good. There’s a lot of blacks/​double blacks with glades, off piste stuff, but I can’t comment much on those areas.
Vibe: Lots of locals go here it seems and people seem to be super chill and really helpful — we got lost on the Nevada side (always happens… dk why?!) and all we had to do was look confused and people instantly offered help. Man, the vibe was so cool. Conversations on the lift were also pretty fun as well. This place draws a lot of international folks too, which was pretty cool.
CHILD CARE: last but not least. This is actually the primary reason why we keep coming back. I have a separate review for their child care if you’re interested in the deets. It’s expensive but highly worth it.
Overall: Cool vibe, tries to be like Whistler Blackcomb, IMO in regards to après-​ski, which isn’t a bad thing. Lots of open/​wide runs, but also lots of narrower and flatter cattracks which can be a pain for snowboarders like myself. Value isn’t the greatest, but this past season it has been having some consistently great conditions which make shelling out the extra cash somewhat worth it.

Corporate cowardice and thievery. To allow guests to get up on the mountain each day only to literally close the place down over weather. This was not a one day experience, but multiple days where they did not honor the contact inherent in the $ 125 lift ticket. Skiiers take the risk.
Waited 3 years for this place to get snow and this is what you get.
Go anywhere else but here if you are in the area.
International travelers be warned that this could be a huge waste of money, travel and time.
It’s so bad that the locals actually just take it in stride and seem to expect these activities.
They should shut the whole place down in the morning and not gather up the $$ then basically funnel them off the mountain.
Poor management and borderline criminal.
Heavenly you are OFF the list of ski destinations forever.

This is a tough review to write. It is such a beautiful place and so family friendly; however, it is also a tourist trap and ridiculously expensive when comparing it to other resorts, mountains, etc. in the Tahoe valley.
I love the area, the gondola to the top is great, parking is somewhat easy, the staff is «oaky» and there are tons of activities no matter what you came to the snow to do.
So why do I give it only three stars?
One: overall price for lift ticket
Two: rules – for everything
Three: drink and food prices
Four: you cannot receive a martini until after 4 o’clock
Five: the fact that they try and force you to ‘party’ around 3 o’clock
Six: staff that offers different things to different people
I was really off-​set by the treatment in the Taramack Lodge, but you can read that review if you are interested in my complaints there.
It seemed like no one really was in sync with the way they wanted to treat guests. When you are asked to pay the prices Heavenly requires, you should also be respected as a guest on that mountain area. I feel this piece was left out of the training for much of the staff.
The trails are amazing.
The view is absolutely beautiful.
The lifts are comfy and run a few minutes after the «cut off» period for those hard core boarders and skiers.
These things are cool. But the rest is a loss.

We were warned of queues but surprisingly, with a little fortune on our side, the queues was very manageable. Spend our first day up the slopes from the heavenly mountain gondola. The view is breathtaking but for the novices, be warned that there is only 1 green run.
The second day was spend from the California lodge and it provided a more varied experience. Definitely recommended for novices for more options and more of a challenge. A good mixed of other more advance runs for the advance.
100 bucks per day for the ski pass if book online.

We scheduled a ultimate 4 class about a week ago, and it was AWESOME!!!
MOST OF CREDIT goes to our coach PAUL. He was really NICE, FUNNY, PATIENT AND HELPFUL. And you can never go wrong with a British accents. In my observation, most of coach there are very nice and helpful.
The only problem we run into is when we booked for two spots in the class and received a confirmation email to proved it. But when we got there they said there is only have one. Luckily there is still spot for my wife. Otherwise it is going to be a really bad day for us.
SO IF YOU GONNA TAKE A CLASS IN THIS PLACE, CALL BEFORE YOU CAME TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE YOU IN THEIR SYSTEM!

I agree with the reviews about the prices being ridiculously high but when you love boarding, it’s worth it. Well… the tahoe local season pass pays for itself (480.I bought late) Unlimited rides @ Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood plus 6 buddy passes, ski with a friend discount passes AND 5 free days at Colorado or Utah! Beautiful views and great runs, you get what you pay for.

WEBSITE PRICES FALSE ADVERTISING. Their website advertises a «Third night free at heavenly!» Offer valid for stays 11÷20÷15−12÷18÷15. Offer states: «33% off ANY three nights or longer.»
I chose a 3 night stay at Forest Suites Resort at Heavenly Village from 11÷20−11÷23 for their 2 bedroom suite. The subtotal comes to $ 566.24, and I was very excited about this offer. When I add this to my shopping cart to purchase their website says «oops! Sorry for the inconvenience. Our site is experience unexpected problems. Please try again later.»
So I call their customer service to order this deal and over the phone they tell me my total would be $ 862. I explained that on my end it shows $ 566, the gentleman on the phone then sees the $ 566 that I’m talking about and he says he’s gonna have to call me back due to a computer glitch.
About an hour later another lady calls back and continues with my over the phone booking and when she tells me my after tax total with lift tickets was over $ 1100; I re-​explained their online price is $ 556 pre tax for just the lodging so I asked how much they were charging me for lodging. She repeated the $ 862 price and said the online price is a glitch and that I can’t get that price for my room. She gave some excuses like the number of people (4 adults/​2 children) and the room I chose aren’t included in that deal. I explained the website advertises ANY room and they should honor the price advertised. She tried to explain that I was already getting a good deal at the $ 862 price and there was nothing she could do.
I asked her to send me an invoice via email so I can look at the breakdown of the bill, but I didn’t get that either. Very bad business practices not honoring advertised prices. Their reason for not honoring the price doesn’t make sense. Also, their website STILL shows the room I want at $ 566?
