The Beachcomber Inn is an affordable, private membership timeshare resort and public rental property that has a home-like feel. Every unit has a view of Lake Tahoe. We are the only timeshare property in the Lake Tahoe Basin that can guarantee that you have a view.

The units have each gone through a modern remodel. Most have full size kitchens where home-cooked meals can be prepared, the others have efficiency kitchens with 2 stove top burners and an apartment size refrigerators. All rooms have flat screen TV’s and DVD players. Studio and mid level one bedroom units have fire places to keep you warm on cold nights. One free parking spot and wifi is available. Public transportation is within walking distance.

We have an indoor spa and dry sauna that is open year round. Our outdoor pool and spa is closed during winter months. Bring your boat or jet skis because buoys are available for rental (lake level permitting) and paddle boats and paddle boards are available for rental during summer months.

Units are available for trade thorough Interval International and RCI. Nightly public rentals are available Expedia.com, and Booking.com.

History

Established in 1980.

The Beachcomber Inn was established in 1980 as a timeshare property. Due to environmental and building restrictions at the time, new development was not allowed, so conversions of hotels to timeshares were the norm. The Beachcomber is situated along 200 feet of lakeshore, giving this property one of the most sought after elements of a stay in Tahoe — the lake view from every unit. Updated units in 2000 and again in 2011 make this a remarkable experience that few can realize due to the size of the property (only 21 units).

The location and view are everything at this hotel! The staff was really nice and accomadating. The room was not the swankiest but definitely comfortable and clean. They only guaranteed WiFi in their lobby area but said they would be updating that in the next week. I loved being able to walk down a few stair steps from the property right to the beach with my daughter and the free movie rentals in the office was definitely a bonus! Oh yeah and not to mention that the price made this place a great value!

this place is amazing!!! just booked another 2 night stay. hopefully getting the lake view again from the living room and bedroom. the room we stayed at was well kept and had all the amenities I desired. recommend this place to anyone and plus restaurants and bars are walking distance too :)

I found this place by accident and decided to book a night for another winter tahoe vacation with the fam. This was the only place I found last minute for an affordable price during a busy holiday weekend right after the new years. I was pretty impressed with the location and the amazing view! We will definitely come back again!
I just wish our bed linens were changed because they had stains on them. Also, they have a tiny parking lot and they only allow 1 vehicle per room. They are very strict when it comes to parking.

First time at Lake Tahoe and this place was the absolute perfect place to stay. Not only did we get upgraded to a 1 bedroom for no charge at all but the view alone was just amazing! Everything about this place was so perfect and clean I’ll be sure to come back! It was also conveniently located near Safeway and bunch of other great little restaurants

My mother and I chose this place to spend one night in South Lake Tahoe. Upon arriving, the staff was very friendly. We were shown our room and immediately very upset that we only booked one night! The room was spacious and overlooked the lake. Everything was very new and clean and the attention to details were definitely impressive. We especially enjoyed the large patio with a table and chairs so we could enjoy some wine before dinner.
I would have given this place 5 stars except for one thing: at the front desk I was given a sheet of paper with a long list of «Guest Rules». Once in the room I began reading and it was all pretty much common sense rules, so I stopped reading. Thankfully I went back and read the rest of the list which included a rule that all trash must be taken out and dishes washed and put away, otherwise you’re charged 25 $.
Thankfully after only one night we didn’t have much to clean up. but it would have been nice to know this verbally, instead of on a piece of paper that could have easily been dismissed.
Regardless, we are excited to come back next summer for a longer stay!

Francisco came down to the spa after I called the office yesterday at a 4:45 PM and he freshened it up like a magician after the kids and a Windy afternoon polluted it. We have been coming here since 2006 and we love this place. It is not a hotel it is a timeshare so yes you have to do your own dishes and garbage. But the view and spot are amazing. Most if not all of the units have been remodeled and the staff are very helpful

This was a much needed getaway and for the price, it’s hard to beat. Honestly can’t wait to go back! Kitchen is brand newly renovated, separate bedroom from everything, it’s like an apt. Really loved this place and hope to come back soon.

we made a quick trip to tahoe, so I booked this room thru
. I was pleasantly surprised at the great price I received with something right on the lake, but then when we got to the room, I was so happy to find such a cozy room with the amazing view of the lake. I got to take advantage of their indoor jacuzzi andb sauna, was amazed their was a clubhouse with pool table and variety of games & puzzles. not only did I get to see the sunset from my balcony, In the morning watching the sunrise from my room was an experience not to miss. There is a kitchenette with all the amenities, and they give plenty of cream and sugar for your coffee.
I will be returning and recommend this gem if you plan to stay in tahoe.

The room was clean and fresh. The staff where informative and extremely friendly. It’s located just off the highway so you hear no traffic noise while your windows are open to take in the beach view. If you can get a room here, book it!

I stayed here in February 2015. Overall, I didn’t like the place because it’s very outdated, dingy and dirty.
Cons:
1) Carpet floor was very dirty. My daughter was barefoot while walking around and the bottoms of her feet were black.
2) The décor is outdated.
3) No maid service. You must empty your own trash throughout your stay & put your dirty towels outside to get clean ones. Upon leaving, you must empty the garbage & dishwasher or get a $ 25 charge.
4) The towels are nasty and beige colored. You can’t tell if you are getting clean ones.
5) The dishes in the cabinet are dirty.
6) The tv is old — they aren’t flat screens.
7) There are no elevators.
Pros:
1) Conveniently located near stores, shops & restaurants.
2) Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe.
3) You are right on the water & have beach access.

Ahhh-mazing!
I’m in love with this hotel, and won’t be staying anywhere else in Tahoe if I can help it.
We got the Junior studio, it was on the first floor and we had our own private beachfront balcony. hellllllo! It doesn’t get any better than that!
The front of the hotel is very unassuming, you wouldn’t think it would be anything special, but it really is.

We stayed in a one-room and two bathroom suite. The place was spacious with two queen beds and a sofa bed. I loved that it had a fully equipped kitchen where I was able to prepare breakfast when needed. We had a dinner table but many times we ate outside where the porch overlooked the lake. This resort might be a bit oudated but its best feature is having the lake right at your doorstep. We were able to enjoy kayaking and other outdoor activities with the family. Unfortunately there were a few downsides. The lack of an actual spa and fitness center (they only have a treadmill and a small whirlpool) was a bit disappointing. Also, the units lack an air conditioning system. I think they should start looking into investing on installing ceiling fans in the rooms since it does get a bit hot during the summer. There were many days when we had to open the sliding glass doors to get some air. Other than that, we had a really great time here. The rooms were clean and comfortable and best of all we had a beautiful view of the lake.

Very cute place. I’m a local, and I took my two boys there to rent paddle boards at their beach. Alyssa (at the dock) was very pleasant and helpful. She gave them some good tips and they had a great time.

We stayed here using a time share. We were soo impressed with this place. I loved how small and quaint that it was. The staff was so welcoming. We loved the common game area to play pool at night. There were bbq grills on each balcony so that you could grill outside. It was very clean inside with plenty of linen and towels readily available. We will stay here again if we return in the near future! And the view of the water and mountains was beautiful!!!

This is by far the best kept little secret in South Lake Tahoe! Totally affordable and the most amazing views from every room :) The staff are awesome and always willing to do what they can to make your stay even more enjoyable. I probably spend at least a month there every year and wish there was a way to make it up there more often! Love it!
