I’ve never been to his shop in person but I have ordered used parts and called for advice. Very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. He made time to talk to me about two land cruisers I was looking at. His advice saved me alot of headache and money.

what a difference! Thus far I’ve had Mudrak’s do my suspension, disc front brakes, power steering, and a few other things. It is well worth the money to have all of the above mentioned things done by a professional outfit, Mudrak’s. I purchased my first parts from Gary when I was 15 for my 69 FJ (windshield frame). 20 years later I’m stoked to have Mudrak’s be able to help me with my Landcruiser needs!

Just today I got my FJ Cruiser worked on; ARB front bumper with lights and an ARB roof rack. I have to say Gary and his team are awesome! Top notch work, super friendly and knowledgeable. I will be back here for future work and if I have nothing left to do on my Cruiser, I will simply come back to see all of the awesome things he is doing.

I cant speak well enough about Gary and his crew at Mudrak. That shop is really passionate about the cars they work on and the craftsmanship is second to none.
Gary came up with some very smart and extremely solid solutions to make my rare toyota a perfectly running vehicle. Even though its more than capable on the trail, I use it as a daily driver and its never been better.
Gary wont compromise on quality and his business practices are extremely fair and honest. I now live a few hundred miles away from his shop but as soon as I get the itch for something else, ill definitely ship the truck back up to Mudrak.
I had a new front and rear end installed, all new steering components, rebuilt both axles with lockers, new suspension, exhaust, disc brake conversion, and custom fabrication all over the place.
Your car wont be in better hands.

I have read about Mudrak numerous times on FJ 60 forums but never had the chance to visit the shop or speak with them on the phone. I called to ask a question on the method for fixing the «oil galley» plug because mine had popped out when I started up the rig the night before. They were extremely helpful and took the time to walk me through the process on the phone. That is pretty awesome service, especially considering that I am planning on doing the work myself. I would definitely recommend these guys for work on your LC!!!

This shop more than exceeded my expectations. I had some front suspension work that needed done. I called three shops in the east bay who could not figure out what I needed or how to do it. After about three seconds on the phone Mudraks knew exactly how to fix it and had me in the next day. Well worth the hour drive.

1990 FJ62. It needs some work before I’m about to drive it across country, and my first mistake was not taking it to Gary and team.
Steering knuckles redone, differential fluids replaced, mudflaps redone, and various other tedious little things that needed to be attended to — all for about ¹⁄₃ the price that other places quoted.
They knew I only had one day to fix it, so they cleared out all other jobs to help me out.
Then they loaned me a car so I could todle around Sonoma for the day.
I don’t know how compliment them more than five stars, or by giving them my highest recommendations, but I’m trying here.

Outstanding work, deep knowledge, caring service. Gary fixed up a myriad of niggling issues on my 1971 FJ40 which I recently drove 2500 miles down into Baja and back. It ran flawlessly.
If it goes on a Land Cruiser, Gary has fixed it, fabricated it, installed it, driven it and improved it. Don’t take your Land Cruiser anywhere else.

After taking my 1970 FJ40 to Gary, I understand why every single forum about Land Cruisers suggest that, no matter where you live in North America, this is the place to take your Land Cruiser.
Gary couldn’t be nicer, his work is exemplary, incredibly trustworthy, and his prices are below reasonable. I’m so lucky to live within an hour of his shop. You can not go wrong here.

Gary is one of the most knowledgeable LandCruiser mechanics/​builders in the States. He is very reliable and his work is absolutely top notch. I’ve been taking my FJ40 to him for years and have always been very impressed by everything he’s done. He can source hard to find parts and is generally a huge pleasure to work with.
My one reservation is that more often than not, I’ll get an upfront quote for work to be done and the work that actually end up being done is significantly more expensive. I don’t mind a whole lot, as Gary won’t complete work that doesn’t need to be completed, and what he does do is very well done. But occasionally I do wince a little when I get the final bill that is considerably more than initially estimated. By no means am I suggesting that the charges aren’t valid, in fact if I had a regular shop do the same work it would cost a lot more and be of lesser quality. But over the years I’ve learned that what I’m going to pay is probably more than Gary initially estimates…
That said, I will continue taking my vehicle here for many years to come. It’s great having such a top notch FJ/​HJ mechanic in the Bay Area.

If you own, drive and off road a Toyota Land Cruiser you will not find a more knowledgeable master mechanic guru for these 4x4s anywhere in the Bay Area. If you’re like me and have an unusual turbo diesel powered Land Cruiser you are just plain lucky to have anyone even know how to work on these things in the Bay Area.
In 2007 I had the misfortune of trusting a «well regarded» FJ40 builder in Canada to make me one to order. It was to be a «turn key» rig that I could trust to get me to and back from Tierra del Fuego and was promised to me from this builder as being as such. What I received (and far past the original agreed upon delivery date) was far from complete or reliable.
Since delivery on Oct 2009, my Land Cruiser has gone thru a series of visits to MUDRAK for the proper attention, repair, upgrades, and overhauls it needed to get it where it needed to be and should have been in the first place.
My Land Cruiser is now reliable, improved and fun to drive on and off road.
Gary is a wizard with a Land Cruiser. Look no further than MUDRAK. As the numerous vinyl bumper stickers attest to on the customers’ rigs at his shop, «MUDRAK Improved», is exactly that.

If I could give this guy and his shop more stars I would. And if I could sum Mudraks up in two words, it would be quality and integrity. Ive owned cruisers for over 30 years and have spent alot of money at other northern california specialty shops. going from one shop to the next shop looking for someone who really knew cruisers or someone that I could really trust to be honest and fair and finally found that at Gary’s shop. Gary is a great guy who won’t try to sell you something you don’t need and is a master sleuth. He takes the time to talk with you and answer your questions and seems to always be available by phone (me must have a great wife!) He is a busy, busy guy but if you want a mechanic for life at a really fair price, its worth the wait.
