MacArthur Place Hotel

My husband brought me here, Just came clean from breast cancer. He sent me to the spa, the Russian masseuse, was abrupt, rude and condescending. Said she had to go to the bank.? Well that’s great, yet thought it was very inopriat. I don’t want to hear other people’s problems, when I come to relax.

One at the best experiences The Innkeeper is wonderful the place is beautiful and so well well-​maintained The food is delicious I would highly recommend and you can walk to town when the weather is not so warm truly one of the best travel experience and would highly recommend

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I have stayed with MacArthur Place a couple times now and have enjoyed myself both times. The facility is always excellent, and the staff have been nothing but great to me with any questions I’ve had. The rooms are very classy and comfortable. And the pool is great!
I did eat once in their restaurant they have there. I ordered their kale salad and it was delicious. I have eaten once there only because they are very close to the Sonoma Plaza and easy to get to the restaurants, shops, etc.
I have highly recommended staying here to my family and friends, and will continue to do so. You will definitely feel the personality of Sonoma through staying with them,

Stayed here recently for a corporate off-​site. I highly recommend MacArthur Place Hotel in Sonoma! The grounds are so beautiful and peaceful! Michael and Linda at the hotel were awesome to work with. Whether it’s a girls weekend away, a work retreat, or a romantic getaway… call them and stay there today!

You decided not to venture deeper into the wine country, avoided most of the traffic and have already been surprised by an abundance of places that make you want to bounce in your seat until the driver pulls over to let you see. There is no long and windy road to comfort. It’s a simple turn into reception. The modest exterior masks the comfort of the actual rooms, that are surprisingly quiet given their proximity to the road. Location. Location. Location. This is a great place for a reunion, special event, or base camp to explore Sonoma. If you get a bicycle, you might not even have to drive all weekend.

The first time my partner and I visited Sonoma we stayed at the fairmont. It was nice but it just wasn’t our favorite.
Second time around we couldn’t decide on a hotel and we were about to book an airbnb when a friend told us about this place. We’ve stayed here twice and really enjoyed our stay. The heated pool was warm enough, the grounds are just beautiful, and the staff and attention to detail is outstanding.
If you book one of the spa suites there really is no need to leave your room. Just order room service and relax. The only downside to this hotel is that although it is just a couple blocks from the square, it’s not a nice walk.

This is my 3^rd visit to the beautiful MacArthur Place. I’m so glad I was introduced to this boutique hotel because everything about it is lovely.
Location: it’s perfectly located a few blocks from the Sonoma Square and has ample parking available on its secured lot.
The rooms are spread apart into several different two story buildings throughout the property.
The pool is centrally located and open until 10pm in the summer.
On the walk back to your suite you’ll run into a mega chess game and other games.
Rooms: the rooms here are expansive and the amenities are thoughtful. I love the extra touch of having lotion for turn down. And I especially enjoy the bath salts that are kindly left next to the soaking tub.
It also boasts a sofa and enough space to have your own porch.
Service: everyone is extremely kind and helpful. Stop by the library for comp cheese and great wine.
This place doesn’t disappoint.

I really loved staying here with my little family. The room was really beautiful and it was so nice and quiet. We live in LA and we were traveling for the first time with our newborn baby so we were REALLY worried about noise in the hotel room. There was no need to worry, it was very peaceful. The grounds were very clean. Beautiful manicured grass surrounds the pools area, reminds me of the Hamptons! Also, I’ve been fortunate enough to stay a a lot of luxury hotels and I gotta say the continental breakfast at MacArthur Place is among the finest I’ve seen – very gracious with their choices. The dining area is also very cozy. It was raining over the weekend and they had the fireplace on. It was so nice. The Manager, Ryan was really nice and helpful whenever we needed anything, and like I said, we live in LA so we’re really needy! lol. The customer service was just great. Ryan gave us advice on things to do in the area, café’s to visit, and directions. Another person who was very nice. I think his name is Bailey? Anyway, he was a sweetheart. You could tell that he really smiled when he answered the phone. He also was very friendly and brought me a candle for our room to get rid of the cigar smell my dad had brought in from his clothes. Then, he brought me a sewing kit for my husband to use on his suit, AND then later he brought me ice. I mean, I don’t know how many times I bugged this kid but he was incredibly sweet and friendly. The woman who works in the gift shop was also very friendly. Her name escapes me but she was a nice looking woman in her 60’s…The morning wait staff was also really smiley. You could tell they really enjoyed their jobs. They jumped in to help me anytime I needed help, like when I completely over-​estimated my abilities to carry 3 cups of coffee, a fruit plate and a bagel plate by myself back to our room! Great place to stay, Great friendly staff, beautiful grounds, right down the street from the center of Sonoma Valley. Management is running a well oiled machine over there!

Stayed at the hotel for our 20^th anniversary. Very nice place. Great service, very nice room. Dinner at the Saddles restaurant was very good. Great service, and awesome food. Will definitely be going back in the future.

Nice place for a getaway. Rooms have a homey feeling and are comfortable. The interior and exterior decoration is very inviting. Staff is extremely kind and the restaurant pretty good.

My husband and I chose to stay here for our Christmas break, never having been to Sonoma before. It was perfect! Beautiful suite, lovely welcome gifts, log fire, wonderful toiletries, etc etc etc! The staff could not do enough for us, and the cheese and wine reception every night in the Library was great fun. The complimentary breakfast was good, but the A La Carte was divine! Best omelette ever! We also ate in Saddles, their award winning restaurant, one night and what a treat. One of the finest steaks either of us has ever had, and the pâté was so good I bought an extra one to take home. All in all, a really wonderful place to base yourself to explore the wine country. We could not have been happier.

This is our first visit but won’t be our last. It is a large hotel with a B&B feel. Breakfast was included and delicious. We arrived just in time for wine and cheese last night. The hostess was helpful in adding suggestions for diner. We will recommend this place to others.

Best poached salmon I’ve ever eaten. Veggies cooked to perfection (for me I like them not too crisp and not too soft). Really enjoyed my meal here. It’s a cute little place with a buzzing bar area and a couple of quaint dining areas. Service was great. Wine, cocktail and beer selection her is outstanding. My guy really liked his ribs but said there was a little too much BBQ sauce — so maybe ask for that on the side of you don’t love it drenched in smoky goodness lol.
Cute décor with «saddle» seating in the entry and horses painted on the walls in the main dining area. An equestrian’s dream.
Overall you should check this place out — it’s walking distance from our home so we go here at least once a month for a couple cocktails, in their relaxing bar area, after a long day. Try one of their delicious martini glass cocktails, rimmed with crystal sugar … Mmmmmmmmm!

Beautiful little getaway with a lovely garden and superb ambiance. The staff is friendly and the accommodations are perfect. Stay in the cottages for the special treatment.

I’ve stayed at the hotel with my boyfriend for two years in a row during a work retreat.
Parking/​checking in: Our initial impression both times was a shortage of parking outside the check-​in office and restaurant. However, there’s plenty of street parking very close by, so that’s not a huge deal. Service at the check-​in desk is friendly and fast. There is a keurig machine with selected kcups for free use (although kcups suck).
Rooms: The grounds and buildings are charming. They’re very well maintained in the style of old country cabins. Both times we’ve stayed in Hawthorne, second floor. It’s only a short walk away from the main office, but also accessible through its own parking lot. The rooms are decently sized, with a king bed, fire place, reading nook (awesome touch), refrigerator/​food area with sink and the other obvious amenities. Bathrobes are hanging in the closet, DEAL ALERT: for only $ 155 you can take those babies home. But first, you can use them as you step out of the large jacuzzi tub or the open shower. We were a tad more impressed last year. The lighter was missing from our room so we had to call for it («but I want a fire noowww») and the jets button in the bathtub came off (though still functional). One more gripe: the restaurant stops serving in-​room at 8:30 PM and apparently Sonoma is a dead zone for late night eats. Yay. Totally in the mood for a drive to Petaluma. To top it off, the room food options are characteristically small and expensive.
Restaurant: We have never eaten from the restaurant’s menu, but have had a prix fixe style menu for our events prepared by the kitchen staff. Loved the iceberg salad with roquefort dressing, the vegetable ravioli, seabass with mashed potato and spinach and the tiramisu. The staff attending our table (Chase and Alexa) were both very friendly.
Breakfast: Buffet comes included with the room. It’s disappointingly small BUT for its size, the selection is good. Fruit salad is not just grapes and a bunch of melon that no one wants, instead several berries, papaya, pineapple, plus. Also homemade muesli with Chia seeds, hard boiled eggs, croissants. BUMMER: no espresso included. Last year I sprang the 5 extra bucks. BUMMER #2: the nonfree cappuccino wasn’t even any good.
Spa: Expensive but you get what you pay for. That’s to say, it’s very good. All masseurs encountered were adept at their craft and will go with the flow (super deep or very light). After our massage we spent a few minutes at the coed steam room, thumbs up. Pool, jacuzzi and ping pong table right outside.

Absolutely loved this hotel.
Let me preface that I did get an amazing deal since I was visiting on Christmas Eve.
But wow. Just wow. This place really excels at exceptional service, the rooms were large and well designed and the grounds are a beautiful maze of shrubbery and gardens. Even in the dead of winter, it still had magical green feeling that I can only imagine is pure perfection when in bloom. The bed was beyond comfy and the bathroom, spacious. TV — HBO is involved.
No pool, hot tub or spa for me this time, but it all looked really wonderful. I still regret not taking an opportunity for a quick steam — complimentary when a guest at the hotel.
The wine and cheese hour was really well done. I actually skipped it for nap time, but my hubs and sister said that they actually preferred some of the wine over the tastings we did at local wineries.
Free keurig coffee and tea in the front lobby area. If you see the resident cat that lives on site, give her a pet. She even has her own business card. :)
Complimentary breakfast — well, this isn’t your boring continental breakfast. Homemade granola with chia see pudding, fresh baked croissants and gluten free muffins, bagels with lox cream cheese and nutella. I also appreciate that you get to enjoy the on site steakhouse venue which is just delightful. You’re not shoved in a random, dull room, but eating in a light filled room with a fireplace, making our Christmas morning quite cozy.
Staff was wonderful. So friendly and warm.
Did I mention that it’s just a quick jaunt to town? Yep, only about a 5 – 7 minute walk.
Definitely a wonderful stay when visiting Sonoma. I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas Eve while visiting. THANK YOU!

This is our second time staying here, as the management did an excellent job of resolution of issues from a previous stay. The staff are the best asset to this hotel; courteous and attentive.
We were greeted in our room with a «welcome back card and a chilled bottle of champagne. Our room was spacious and very comfortable! As we remembered from last time the property is lovely with greenery and a private pool. We enjoyed the ping pong table and even a game of outdoor checkers in the afternoon.
The included breakfast is fantastic! We definitely ate out fare share of the fresh fruit, croissants, muesli, muffins and other items on the extensive buffet.
A great experience for a weekend away!

My husband and I stayed here during our birthday weekend. Upon arrival, we were greeted courteously and the check in process was simple and quick.
Upon check-​in, they gave us a map of the property and gave us directions to our room. Self parking and we always found a spot without having to circle around.
The room was very neat and clean with a small patio and a couple of chairs and a table in the patio. The bed was very comfortable. The lotion and other bath products in the bathroom were high quality stuff.
The hotel has free wine and cheese reception in the library every evening from 5 – 6 and that was a very enjoyable experience. The library is full of comfy couches where you can grab one of the books, relax on the couch with a nice book, and enjoy wine and cheese. There are also scrabbles if that interests you.
You also have access to the pool, whirlpool and spa. There is food service by the pool as well.
Breakfast is complimentary and it is one of the best breakfast spreads I’ve seen.
Walk around the property to see the beautiful gardens, flowers and the chess garden.
I highly recommend staying at MacArthur Palace and will consider staying here again when I visit Sonoma next time.

My husband and I loved our stay and experience at the hotel! We stayed in the cottage and it was perfect, charming and inviting! Bunky at the front desk was so wonderful, we told her what we like and she mapped out a great itinerary for us, thank you, Bunky! The grounds of the hotel were also just as charming, can’t say enough good things about our experience.
We dined at Saddles and enjoyed our meals and service! Loved the complimentary breakfast in the morning and the wine and cheese spread in the evening. Definitely will go back in a heartbeat next time we are in Sonoma!

Charming and inviting! This hotel is well kept, bright and full of amenities.
The rooms larger in size compared to others in Napa. Each small building has about 4 units but we barely heard anyone. The rooms have a chaise or daybed to enjoy the morning paper. Everything from the robes (super soft), lavender and Rosemary bar soap, lotion was of the highest quality.
Spa is on the grounds: My BFF had a massage and said it was one of the best she has ever had.
We didn’t get a chance to eat at the steakhouse but the wine and cheese hour was a nice touch after we checked in.
Room service arrived promptly: Pancakes were good but only came with 4 smaller medallions. They use farm to fresh local ingredients which we loved!
I would definitely stay here again! Great customer service and they are one of the few hotels that allow one night stays unlike Ledson.
