Before Trident Mortgage Group, Roger was a rising star at one of the West Coast’s most successful mortgage brokerages. With the brokerage’s partners focusing on Roger’s professional development, he fine tuned his processing, underwriting and strategic planning skill set while outperforming his colleagues.

A few months ago I read an article in the LA Times with regards to rates for re-​financing. The article referenced Trident Mortgage. I called Trident and spoke to Rodger and told him that I would like to re-​finance. He promptly explained what kind of a loan he thought would work for us and what the exact cost was and also what rate we could expect. Within the week we had faxed the necessary paperwork and shortly thereafter we were approved. Rodger was extremely professional and explained the new loan so we could easily understand what we were getting.
Over the years we have re-​financed but I have to say that Rodger was the best at being totally upfront about rates, cost, and the length of time to complete our loan. I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of doing any kind of a home loan. As a matter of fact I called him again today to let him know if rates go lower we would like to re-​fi again.

I have to say that working with Trident Mortgage Group has been one if the best experiences I have ever had.
I only write reviews on business’s that provide a great experience and superior results.
In dealing with Roger at Trident Mortgage Group I have learned two things.
1. You have to have a great mortgage broker to find you the best loan package that fits your needs. Mortgage loans are complicated and have many ramifications on your financial future but these guys kept it simple to understand.
2. Over the years I have been fortunate to be able to deal with a few very talented people in finance but Roger is simply superior as he walked me through the process step by step to completion.
Quite simply if you choose another mortgage broker and you are not satisfied with their performance (ie, creating aggravation or costing you money) you should kick yourself for not going with the team at Trident.

I first contacted Roger at 10:00 at night and received a phone call back within 5 minutes. I knew we were comfortable with him after a few minutes. He walked us through the entire process. He isn’t pushy or aggressive either in person or over the phone. He simplified the process and was clear and methodical. Roger, with Trident Mortgage, is the best in the business. We have purchased and refinanced multiple homes over the past 15 years — none of them have ever gone as smooth as our most recent refinance. I strongly recommend Roger at Trident Mortgage without hesitation. You will be happy!
The first time I called Roger to refinance, he advised us that it was not the right time to refinance. He suggested we wait for a few things to fall in line before we started the process. A couple months later I followed up with him again and he recommended that we move forward. I appreciated his honesty from the beginning and he continued to be very committed, trust worthy, and passionate. He was looking out for our best interest, rather than only trying to make a buck.
As we moved forward with the refi, he quoted us for a «NO COST» loan. I was very skeptical of this during the entire process. When all said and done, not only was this a «no cost» loan (no fees), we actually made money (to be applied to the insurance and taxes that were due at closing). It was AWESOME!
Roger really went above and beyond for us in order to get this deal done. He was on top of it every second. We closed in less than 3 weeks. We greatly appreciate all of his time, hard work and dedication to us, as his clients. We will definitely be returning to him for our future loan needs.

I have alway dealt directly with my bank for any mortgage. But, the last endeavor took several months to close. I was repeatedly hassled about additional documents. I was told I needed to provide one document and then told to provide and additional one several days later. It surprised me how inexperienced and disorganized the bank was. I wanted to see if I could avoid it this time around and decided again dealing with my bank. Since my home value had increased substanially from the beginning of the year, I started looking around to better my rate and lower my payment. I would occasionally go to Unilocal to check out reviews for a new restaurant my girlfriends and I were going to day or two before. When I called and first spoke Roger, I was pleasantly surprised how easy he was to talk too. He was straight to the point and extremely professional. He exlained what he could do for me and how long it would take. Everything he told me he followed up and did. From the loan approval to the locking in the rate for my loan. Everything was documented for me to see. He kept me up to date throughout the process. In hindsight what I thought was a unique loan situation, in reality wasn’t unique at all. It just took the right person to explain and walk me through the steps of the process and to understand what was going on and why. His ability to make the process tranparent and simple made me very comfortable. My loan closed on time and without any delay. I attribute this the Roger’s experience and attention to detail. I highly recommend Roger for anyone looking for a straight forward home loan experience.

Roger Kumar of Trident Mortgage recently handled the refinancing of our mortgage. I have done Refis with other Mortgage brokers at least 4 times in the past.
If I ever need to refinance my mortgage, I will definitely use Trident Mortgage again. Roger is a professional, and he got our loan rate locked in just before the rates took a big bump up recently. He got all the necessary paperwork submitted to the lender and we closed the loan on time and in less than 30 days. His fees were extraordinarily low, and he shows you all the loan fee details in advance of the closing.
He kept me updated throughout the process, and he found a lender that offered a very competitive interest rate, and that would listen to reason. Let me explain about the saga of this loan if you care to read on.
Someone electronically filed a fraudulent 2012 Federal Tax Return using my name before I got my paper version filed. By the way, you can avoid ever having this happen by establishing a PIN with the IRS that one must have to electronically file. I didn’t find that out until after I had this nightmare of a problem.
The fraudulent 2012 return showed me as single, living in Texas (In order to steal my tax refund) even though, I have been married for 24 years, always file a joint return, and have lived in the same home in Encinitas, CA for the past 14 years. None of the lenders would fund our loan due to a ‘technical glitch” in underwriting guidelines which requires a paper or electronic tax filing to match identically the lender requested 4506T (Lender verified and obtained electronic request for filed tax returns directly from the IRS).
Even though the lenders had copies of my most recent two tax returns showing substantial consistent income, low debts, and excellent credit, they would not fund my loan, simply because of the tax filing (fraudulent) that shows up on the IRS 4506T and the inability for the IRS to just remove it from showing after corrected. No common sense and no way to technically fix this glitch in lending guidelines.
Roger didn’t give up and months later found a lender in his network that would listen to reason. He was able to get them to understand what had happened. He kept me updated throughout the process, and secured a very competitive interest rate.
I will always work with Roger on any home loans I may need in the future.

We used Roger at Trident Mortgage Group to refinance our home last month. Despite the nonsense many lenders were demanding, Roger managed to get us our loan as promised and on time. The rate was as good as anywhere we shopped. He was diligent and patiently explained everything, answered all my questions, even over the weekend and few times after hours on his personal cell.
Our financial files were a giant messy pile and despite our lack of organization, Roger managed to get our loan application approved and locked in quickly and efficiently within an hour of our first conversation. We were hesitant to use a broker after hearing horror stories from friends of ours who worked with less competent Mortgage Brokers. Nothing was further from the truth here! Professionalism defined! I would highly recommend working with Roger and his team. He saved us a lot of stress and hassle going to a big bank.

Roger and Ben at Trident Mortgage have worked their magic for me three times now. Every year, rates have been lower so I’ve gone back to Trident. Each time, I got a ½ percent reduction in my rate, always lower than I could find anywhere else. All three times the refi was at no cost to me, so there was no down side, just a lower payment.

We have recently refinanced the mortgage for our current home and got a new mortgage for a home we just purchased with Trident Mortgage Group. I found Trident based on the great reviews at Unilocal.Roger and Ben were great. They kept us informed throughout the entire process. We were able to get the refinance and the new mortgage done in a timely manner. We have a tone of questions, but Roger was very patient in answering them. It is hard to imagine any person or company being more helpful, efficient or easier to work with than Roger (the president) and Ben were. It was a real pleasure working with them from start to finish. They were immediately on top of everything and were also extremely good at explaining and educating about all the different factors and aspects of the loan process. Additionally, what drew me to them from the beginning was that they gave me their best loan rate right up front. Another company then tried to beat theirs but that company had initially given me a rate .4 pts higher. I highly appreciated their being upfront from the beginning and so went with them, not to mention the fact that I received an excellent rate with very low c. losing costs. Throughout the process they struck me as being men of integrity, and I HIGHLY recommend them and their business.

Great service. Great experience. I was always more comfortable using banks than a mortgage broker for my home loan. However my opinion has completely changed because of the experience with Trident Mortgage group. I have used Roger and Ben for 3 refi loans on 2 different houses over the last 2 years.
