Grilled taco was ok, but the fried taco had no fish in it! We opened it up and it appeared the sick little fish inside had disintegrated. Ick! Nothing special here — very confused by the great reviews.

Should be called Rude ys, I swear the ladies that work the counter couldn’t possibly be more miserable looking and yes indeed they pass it on to the customers. look you bitchy surly unhappy people, if you don’t like your job then quit.

I love this place! Best avocado salsa! Also they have the best food. Lately I have been addicted to the Surf and turf quesadilla and grilled chicken burritos. Their crispy tacos rock too! Yummy!

This is the place — Amazing carne asada and cheap food. I used to live right by here and I would text them my order and walk over there and my food would be ready by the time I got there. They recently installed beer taps as well. They also have a market there where you can buy Queso, soda, beer, etc. It’s some of the best Mexican you’re going to find in north county.

This place is the best! Their chicken caldo and tortilla soup are to die for. The fish tacos and shrimp burrito are also scrumptious.

Our company works in Solana and are always ordering lunch together. We LOVE Bongiornos Pizza(5 stars) and always noticed the little Mexican food spot right across the way. One day we finally ordered from here resisting the amazing pizza across the way. The shrimp tacos were A-Mazing. The salsa had a little kick and there was a perfect balance of ingredients. One of the most important factors, the corn tortillas. I am usually a flour tortilla girl and these corn tortillas would have been chosen over any flour I have ever had. They killed it! I highly suggest trying this place!

Anyone who knows anything about Mexican food knows that greatness is often found in hole in the wall spots. Rudy’s fits the bill perfectly. I get the same thing(carne asada burrito) pretty much every time, and it never disappoints.

After a hike and a kayak nearby my mom and I were starving so we Unilocaled for a little Mexican food since its way more authentic near the border. Enter this little gem! You know you’re in the right place when it’s both a market and a restaurant. Their stuff is so good they’ll let you stock up! After looking around at the menu and the fresh masa sign, we decided on tacos, tamales and of course the Carne asada fries! All were literally amaaaaazing. I am a really harsh critic on fries and thought the steam might make these mushy but alas, they remained crispy and thin and added great balance to the beef salsa and sour cream — omg I’m literally salivating just thinking about it. We immediately ordered tamales for the road so we could share the deliciousness with my dad — and they were just as yum when we got them home! There isn’t much for ambiance or seating but it’s spacious enough and the service is super quick so I’m sure they get people in and out without too much wait. When we left the place was filled with families with young kids and dude groups alike — refreshing how good food can bring people together! Would definitely come back!

As long as you’re not too shy to venture a little«hole in the wall» Rudy’s Taco shop is definitely a great little hot spot for your go-to Mex cravings. I have never«dined in» but I definitely have many pick up orders tallied under my belt(pun intended). ;) The Carne Asada chips are absolutely scrumptious for a great«sharing lunch situation» — Or maybe not share, just depends on your inner carnivore. ;) Oh but I always order the salsa, quac, & sour cream to be individually packaged on the side. Just to encourage absolute freshness. TBH though, what is ordered more than anything would be breakfast… The chilaquiles plate & the Machaca plate are both MMMMMMGOOD! I’d also recommend the chicken enchiladas in red sauce. :) They have no restrictions on the menu or time of day you order either, which is nice. Then there’s the matter of Rudy’s being actually located inside a mini-market? SO, you can also get fresh, hand made tortillas, corn or flower. They sell coca-Colá that was imported from Mexico…(Which for those of you that know, coca-Colá tastes so much better from Mexico!) And last but not least(just seriously interesting) they also have a Mexican money exchange service, smack dab in your face as soon as you walk in. There’s a whole Bullet proof window and all! What the? Lol, so basically, Rudy’s is your one stop shop, all things Mejicano! Viva la Raza! ;)

This taco shop makes the best street tacos in Solana Beach. I love the Carnitas tacos, very traditional. Plus, they serve a nice selection of beer, and have a good little patio.

Best Mexican food in all of San Diego!!! It is a hole in the wall, but I promise that you won’t be disappointed. They have also expanded to serving draft beer now also. I love this place!!!

Rudy’s a good hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. They are a great local alternative when I am in need of a quick meal. For me, they are about burritos. The breakfast burritos with bacon and potato are first class. I like that the egg is not thoroughly scrambled so you get bits of crispy egg white in the mix. It’s nice to know you’re getting fresh eggs. The carne asada is great as well for lunch. I am a big fan of their green avocado salsa. The restaurant itself is pretty bare bones with a bit of outdoor seating without much of a view. They have a coolers on one side convenience store style with beverages and a few prepackaged items to go. The staff is always ready with a smile and plenty helpful. It’s a good local business.

I hope the food is better than the service from the girl at the counter. As little personality as possible and doesn’t even look at you at all. I asked what the difference between Baja style and grilled style fish and she answered like I was stupid for asking. Am I the only one that doesn’t know what Baja style is? Update: I had the grilled fish burrito and it was pretty good. A bit overpriced for the size and price wouldn’t be too much of an issue if they had good customer service. I asked for more avocado salsa cause it was out in the salsa area and she hardly acknowledged me and never filled it. I got tired of waiting to eat my lunch and grabbed some red salsa and sat down outside. Started eating and looked around a bit at the patio area.

Rudy’s taco shop? Should be called– was sold to a gringo who changed everything, nickel and dimes you on every order, and went cheap to make a buck. It’s the red headed stepchild of Eden Gardens-embarrassing. My credentials? What you call«Mexican food» I just call food. All 270lbs of me eats the stuff most days of the week. I know the difference between all the different regions of SD. Nothing’s better then TJ style fish tacos in south bay, but I’ve digressed… Rudy’s food, is no longer the best quality, it is not cooked with pride or love. It’s smaller servings size is noticeable. They have rode too long on the glory that was the«old Rudy’s» when Rudy owned it. I guess that’s what you have to do as an owner to pay for those over priced craft beer taps you put in. Save your $$$ and drive to Encinitas…

Easy to get to and isn’t too far from the race track. They have handmade tortillas and chips and really delicious carne asada. There’s a bar a small dining area inside and a patio outside with a new fence. Service is slow when busy but worth the wait. Give this place a try when in the area. You can thank me later.

Grilled shrimp taco was amazing! So was the avocado salsa. I also ordered a crispy fish taco, and I would recommend skipping that. We visited Sunday for lunch, and despite how busy it was, the line to order moved quickly and our tacos and burritos were ready very fast. I would come here again!

Very good food! The buttered shrimps are my favorite, the food is amazingly good. They only thing that I didn’t like was the mess around The counter where the napkins and forks are…

I got a breakfast burrito with just potatoes, egg, and cheese(no meat). The burrito was probably 70% potato, 20% egg, and 10% cheese. So obviously way off. The potatoes also tasted very fried which I wasn’t expecting. I would’ve definitely liked more cheese. They do give you a heaping side of sour cream(for an extra cost but a larger cup than I’m used to getting). The salsa was very good. I guess you get what you pay for. I probably won’t order the burrito again but I’ll give it another try.

Upon entering, it looks like part of the dining area is also a small grocery store and a western union booth behind really thick glass. Ordered the chicken rolled tacos, that came with plenty of guacamole! The chicken was moist and had a nice mild red chile spice flavor. The tortilla was lightly crisp and cooked just right. The fresh guacamole is delicious along with the combination of diced tomato and lettuce topping the whole thing off! Definitely will be coming back for more tacos!
