Solana Beach Community Pre-School

Solana Beach Community Preschool is amazing. I’m writing my first Unilocal review, because I have to share how much we love this special place. Joanne and her incredible teaching team make learning so hands on and fun for the kids, while helping them gain confidence and social skills. My son attended for 2 years, and on the first day of K, he was excited for school and ready. Joanne’s team & the multi-​age format are great for developing confidence. My son was so proud of himself for helping the younger kids his 2^nd year. My daughter will start here in the fall, and we can’t wait!

Two of my three children have attended SBC Preschool. We love the intimate, family feel and extra care we receive from Joanne and her excellent, caring staff. They always offer suggestions if we are having issues and make us feel like part of their family. Highly recommend!

This is my first review on Unilocal though I use it all the time. I was compelled to review the preschool because it’s really changed our lives. My middle son is shy by nature but craves social contact. We had him in a part-​time montessori style school that he absolutely dreaded. He cried every day going to school. Outside of school he even seemed sad and moody. We changed to the Solana Beach community school because we had heard so many amazing things. Now he has the happiest kid on the block. The school is very play based and he absolutely loves going to school. The teachers are amazing and the ratio is 4:1. I was worried because we put him in five days a week and I was worried it would be too much but Mrs. T (amazing) reassured me he would do fine. Sure enough by Friday he is still begging to go to school in the morning (mom hurry up!) His mood has improved outside of school. His grandparents even noticed after the first day. He says now that he loves school and I think he feels successful there. Our 2 yr old daughter is there too and loves it just as much. Thank you SBCPS. You have made life so amazing for us!

We could not have chosen a better preschool to send our daughter to. Joanne and her talented team of teachers taught our daughter so many valuable life skills (making friends, working together in a group, problem solving, conflict resolution, becoming independent, etc) in a fun, loving, and nurturing environment. Because of this fabulous school, she has thrived socially and is more than ready for kindergarten.

One word: Incredible. Both of my boys went to this preschool for 2 years and absolutely loved it! The teachers are so organized, thoughtful, and look to teach to each individual child’s needs. There is structure yet a very nuturing environment and a school that has a long history in the Solana Beach community. The learning through play and social development was perfect for my kids. As soon as we entered the front door, my boys were off and playing and completely forgot about me. It was very difficult graduating to kindergarten but my kids still go back to say hi to their teachers. I also loved the time from 9am to 2pm – good preparation for full day kindergarten. You won’t regret it for a moment if you choose this preschool… your child will love it and will be well prepared for the next step.

This is the most amazing preschool! My daughter went here years ago and we are still very close to the teachers. Plus, my daughter is still friends with many of the children and some of my closest «mom» friends were women I met through this incredible school.
Don’t let the strip-​mall location fool you… once you are in the gate it is like magic. It is such a happy place full of love and encouragement. My daughter was incredibly shy when she started at the school and they helped her come out of her shell and thrive!
If you are looking for a great experience for you kids, then please go visit the school, talk to the teachers, and watch the joy on the kids’ faces.
