ACMA – Applied Combat Martial Arts

Prior to joining ACMA, I had trained Hung Gar for about 2 years. The training methods were ideal for the skill level I was at, but after awhile I wanted to seek out something more. I inquired about training with ACMA, under Sifu Jason Bartlett, and was lucky to be offered the opportunity.
For the last (almost) 5 years, I have trained hung gar at ACMA. For the last 2.5, I have also trained short fist boxing, weapons work, and san shou during the season. Sifu Bartlett has the experience and knowledge to provide a set of great teaching skills, that I have not experienced anywhere else.
ACMA is not focused on fast progression and turn around, it is focused on building a true skillset. Unlike many of the schools and clubs you see today, where hitting a bag as hard as you can 1000x or avoiding getting hit in the face is the focus, ACMA approaches the real life martial art. Sifu Bartlett’s skillset is diverse and strong. He has been building it a majority of his life, and he knows the difference between what you see in the ring, and what you see on the street. ACMA applies all scenarios in training techniques.
This isn’t a fluffy school, where you can come in to workout and tune out. This is a focused, effort oriented place. We work hard on improving our martial arts, which I have learned improves me as an overall human being. We respect eachother, and everything ACMA stands for.
If you are looking to build a strong martial art, under a strong school and instructor, ACMA is the place I’d point. With a mix of traditional kung fu and present day application, ACMA builds a pathway for warriors… But you must have the dedication. I put all of my trust in this school and Sifu Bartlett. Believe me when I say, this isn’t your typical kung fu school. But if you’re looking for a school that knows it’s martial art, provides discipline, and most importantly teaches you real kung fu… ACMA checks all the boxes
