LOVE LOVE LOVE Sophia! She cuts both mine and my son’s hair perfectly every time. And, my son is mixed so I always used to get nervous when it was time for his hair cut. Not with Sophia. She cuts it perfectly every time. Every other hairdresser I ever had would tend to get complacent and not cut my hair properly. I have been going to Sophia for a few years and she really cuts it perfect every time :)

I am not one for planning ahead. When I noticed the lion’s mane that was growing out of my head, I thought it might be time for a hair cut. Apparently, these are the sorts of things you need to plan in advance, because when I decided to finally cut my hair every salon was booked.
As a low maintenance gal who usually gets her hair cut by a family friend stylist, I was unaware that hair appointment etiquette frowns upon same day appointments. After being turned away by every high end salon in town, I was beginning to lose hope. Luckily, I stumbled upon Sophia’s Unilocal reviews and decided to give it one last shot.
I texted (yes, texted) her and within minutes I had an appointment for that afternoon. I asked whether or not I needed to print the deal voucher from the site, as I don’t have a printer here. She said not to purchase it online, and that she would honor the price when I came in.
Fast forward 3 years later (I am finally getting around to posting this review) and I have not let anyone else cut my hair since I’ve been going to Sophia. My boyfriend now refuses to go anywhere else either. Sophia is a HUGE upgrade from those supercut haircuts he was coming home with.
She is super quick, affordable, and a great hairstylist/​person. Getting my haircut now feels like just visiting an old friend.

I believe Sophia is one of the best hair stylists that I had before. She does exactly what you want. I always get so many compliments on my hair cut… Highly recommended!

I needed a cut pretty bad and Sophia took my appointment even tho it was after hours– And she did great job! She whipped my stubborn hair into shape effortlessly and did for a price that can’t be beat. I’ve found my new hair spot.

Sophia is great! I like my hair cut and she did it quickly and very affordably. Made me wait a little because her previous appointment went over apparently, but there is a place to sit and read so I was happy. Honestly, for those of us who don’t want to pay double just to experience the «glamor» of a salon environment, Sophia is the only person I’ve heard of who will just wash and cut your hair, no blow dry, for an incredibly decent price. Thank you, Sophia! ^_​^ This lowly college student is very happy to have found you!

I love coming over to Sophia’s to get my hair trimmed. She’s always so sweet and positive and she never fails to deliver. I always leave her place feeling pampered and happy.

Update from 4 to 5 stars. Sophia continues to be great and is now also doing my highlights! She does a great job and is reasonably priced. :)

Sophie is amazing. She made me feel so comfortable. She understands the science behind hair. She is so flexible. Fit me in at the last minute on a Sunday. Even helped a good friend of mine correct an overprocessing issue created by someone else. If she will add me as a Regular customer, I will keep coming back.

I also got the Unilocal deal… Which is not much of a deal, that’s why my review is in between. Sofia, like everyone says, is very nice and sweet– bt the «deal» is nt worth it. I also showed her how I wanted my hair cut. All im going to say is that the last time I was there was a year ago… And dnt plan on going back…

Sophia was awesome! VERY cool and easy to talk to… she also cut my husband’s hair while waiting for my color to process. I have VERY thick hair and she got the color on FAST (I hate it when it takes a stylist forever to put the color on!). Hair looks great! She also gave us a great price and I really like her location. It’s super private if you’re not into all of the chitty-​chat that goes on in most salons. Yay Sophia!

I’ve been to celebrity hair stylists and people who do rock stars’ hair for 5 times the price and no one has given me a better haircut than Sophia. She’s a one-​woman operation in a building with other similar outfits so it’s like a private session. She’s responsive via texts for appointments and is always pleasant. I could not recommend Sophia more.

Called and got a next day appointment which was great. Sophia is her own one-​person-​shop inside of Sola Salons. The «salon» is a one room operation which guarantees personalized service. I got a hair cut and was quoted $ 50 as a new customer. Then I saw the Unilocal deal and paid $ 19 for $ 30 worth of services. Don’t do that new customers because the way the math worked out I paid an additional $ 35 on top of my $ 19 which was $ 54. Sophia explained that this made up for Unilocal’s commission.

Money aside, the cut is great and my hair looks so much healthier. Sophia showed me how to make my hair do soft waves which I haven’t tried yet, but plan to. Will I be back? Likely, not not guaranteed. I may return to Du Japon, but I hate having to drive all the way over to Sawtelle from the SFV.

I’m so glad I listened to the other Unilocalers because words cannot describe how amazing Sophia is! When I first got there I instantly fell for her little space, it’s very intimate and you don’t have to deal with other people yapping around or listening in on your conversations. I was already sold after reading a couple of the reviews before I went in today. She’s a great hair stylist and definitely listens to what you want unlike many others. I gave her two photo references and it turned out exactly how I wanted it! Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I plan on coming back for sure! Thank you, Sophia :)

My navigation totally threw me off today, but boy was I glad to finally find the place!
I called Sophia very last min and asked her to squeeze me in for a bang fix up. The lady who cut my bangs a month ago totally messed it up. Sophia took me in asap and fixed my bands. I absolutely love how she cut my bangs. I haven’t had a full hair cut by her, but I can tell she’s fantastic. I am usually very picky with my hairstylists. Especially after last time. I was very paranoid to go to Sophia because I didn’t know what to expect, but she did a fantastic job.

I had been holding out on getting a haircut for way too long and I couldn’t stand it anymore so I started calling around salons around the Encino/​Sherman Oaks area and Salon Sophia came up on my radar. I called Sophia and she was so kind to fit me into her schedule that afternoon. The experience was just great! Sophia is so sweet and personable, while not being overly aggressive in her chatter. I love my hair cut, exactly how I asked for it! Sophia was also very timely about the hair cut, which is something I worry about and part of the reason it took me so long to get my hair cut. I just don’t have two hours to sit around waiting for my hair to be cut. Her prices are so good too!
All in all, I highly recommend Sophia!

Smiling from ear to ear. Came to Unilocal to find a place my husband could get his hair cut. You could not beat the price and my husband is low maintenance, so we figured why not?
First of all, the concept behind this building is genius!!! Salon Sophia is in the back so it’s nice and quiet. All the features in her salon are perfect! She is the nicest person with such a WONDERFUL personality! So well spoken and kind! My husband LOVED his haircut. Now, my husband doesn’t get excited about ANYTHING! He’s so low key that he never goes out of his way to make a big deal about something, especially a haircut. He CAN’T stop talking about how much he loves his hair and Sophia. I have to agree he looks great and I love her too!
I had an expensive hair stylist in WeHo before. I have very long (gorgeous ;)) hair and I am very particular. So it wasn’t until my husbands 4^th haircut while my stylist was in Europe that I made an appointment for Salon Sophia. With NO exaggeration …
I HAVE NEVER LOVED A HAIR CUT THIS MUCH! It looks amazing!!! My hair is my #1 feature and she made me look beautiful!!!

Sophia is now my hair stylist for as long as I live in L. A! I’ve been to three other stylists since I moved here and had problems with all of them. This has never happened to me in any other city. (My husband’s job moves us around and I guess I got lucky up until L.A.) It was so refreshing to meet Sophia. She has a great personality and is wonderful at what she does. Her prices are also very reasonable. This is something you don’t expect from a Sherman Oaks location on Ventura.
I want to thank Unilocal because this is how I found Sophia. Her five star rating is truly deserved.

I really loved the front part of my hair, but I had this weird, creepy mullet going on in the back. I was Unilocaling to try to find a person who can get rid of it ASAP because I couldn’t keep it tied up in a ponytail any longer and I didn’t want to go to my usual stylist, which would’ve cost me like $ 100 including my tip just to get rid of this monstrosity of a tail that was growing in the back of my head. So I found Salon Sophia. She had great reviews and a Unilocal deal. Well, I was sold! So I bought the Unilocal deal and made an appointment.
I found myself in this building that contained small salon spaces. It was quite interesting, but pretty cool. I parked at a meter on the street, but I believe there was parking in the back. I’m pretty sure she asked me if I needed a validation, but don’t take my word for it.
Anyway, she had a male client and I was just waiting in the hallway because there was a couch that really only sat 1 comfortably and it was taken by the male client’s girlfriend. She finished clipping his hair right on time for my appointment. She cleaned up the trimmings and greeted me in. She thanked me for waiting and she sat me in the chair. We did the usual talk about what I wanted to do with my hair and she got started. She shampooed my hair and started cutting the beaver tail. She was polite and kept the conversation going and it wasn’t awkward at all.
I completely forgot I had the Unilocal deal and so I paid. I think I ended up paying $ 30 with tip. As I was driving away, I got a call from Sophia saying she didn’t know I had a Unilocal deal and told me I could get a refund or that the next time I came, I could use the Unilocal deal. I loved my haircut so I took the latter offer.
I’m going in on Wednesday for a bang cutting appointment. She is super accommodating btw because I bugged her today (Labor Day holiday) which is her usual day off and she was able to get me in after work on Wednesday. She’s awesome! I definitely recommend her. She’s cool to talk to, she has reasonable prices, and she gives a great cut! Thanks Sophia!!!
