Mir the Master Barber

Just had a lovely straight-​razor shave and beard trim for the first time in *forever*.
Mir is a total pro and dressed to the nines. How does he keep his white vest & white slacks so impeccable after a day of working with big hairy lugs like me?
Didn’t realize how lucky I was to get a last-​minute appointment today — afterwards I was ready to book my next visit and he was already booked up weeks in advance!
Mir made me look sharp and feel great. Highly recommended, I will definitely come back!

Mir does the job! I couldn’t be happier with my beard trim, it came out exactly how I wanted it to. The guy is very professional and made sure that I was completely satisfied with the cut that i had went in for. Be sure to call early in advance depending on when you need your trimming, I had to schedule my appointment 2 weeks ahead of time because the schedule was booked which tells you the demand for one of his cuts.

After reading the reviews for Mir I felt I could trust my beard with no other and I’m glad I waited.
Mir is typically booked a couple weeks out but he is a master for sure and worth the wait. Very knowledgeable and great at offering tips to take back home with you.

The best don’t need a lengthy description to convince others why they’re the best. Mir, simply IS the best. So long as you care about how your hair, and more specifically, your beard comes out after a cut or trim, Mir is who you NEED to go to. Go to someone else at your own risk.

Before I start my review yes you have to book an appointment in advance I don’t think they do walk ins. This is my third time coming here already and I’m going to be returning again and again. Mir is a professional all around he takes his time he’s patient suggestive and attentive. I grew my beard for about 9 months and I ran into this place on Unilocal and I couldn’t be happier you won’t be disappointed. I go for a beard trim/​shave about every month and half. Hot towel cold towel scented oils scissor trim hot shaving cream and razor. You almost fall asleep on his chair because it’s so relaxing. Try it out !!!
Suggestion if you plan on returning again make another appointment as soon as you pay at the register. Staff is also friendly

Currently booking appointments 5 weeks out. Good for Mir, bad for people reading reviews and getting excited about going. Can’t believe no one mentioned in their reviews that they had to book weeks in advance.

I had been growing my beard out for several months in preparation for a small film role and needed to get it trimmed and under control. After searching Google, I found the Unilocal reviews for Mir the Master Barber and decided it might just be worth the drive from Pasadena to Sherman Oaks. I am so glad I took that chance!
Mir is a delightful person — quiet, calm, extremely professional, and a fascinating conversationalist if one wishes good conversation while getting a haircut. Moreover, «Master Barber» is a very fitting title — this man knows how to handle his shears, and completely understands hair (including facial hair — a rare talent!) and how to trim it so it looks and responds the way one wants it to. The movie I’m preparing for is a sequel, so when Mir asked me what I was looking for, I showed him a photo from the first movie — he recreated the look, only cleaner and better looking than the original! Also, while I have no idea *how* he did it, he made it so I can comb my beard in two different styles (I’ll call them flat and fluffy), and it will remain that way.
Now, two and a half weeks after my appointment, my beard still looks the best it ever has at this length, and my hair still looks great, too. Maybe I should have expected that, but it hasn’t been my experience with other trims/​cuts I’ve gotten from other barbers.
The other thing I would mention is that for me, at least, this was not just a haircut and beard trim, but a real experience. For a slightly increased fee they offer a «full package» that adds a facial as well, something I had never done and decided to try — and it was well worth it. Along with the haircut, trim and share, I was pampered with different warm and cool towels scented with different essential oils that really helped me to relax. I left feeling like I’d been on a vacation, and certain I will be coming back again.

His name is Mir the Master Barber for a reason, it’s exactly true.
He knows your beard better than you know it, he takes his time and makes sure to do everything right.
This isn’t just a pair or clippers and out you go, this is a full service stop.
First of all he sits you down and asks you what you want (if you don’t know, he’ll help you out by showing you the 3 basic beard shapes).
Nothing is gone unnoticed, the neck line, sideburns, mustache, etc. Hot towel treatment, exotic oils, everything.
He keeps great conversation and does a killer haircut too. Highly recommend him to anybody. Having my 3^rd appointment next week!
HOWEVER, the other guys who work at The Art of Shaving (the ones taking the calls) are absolutely terrible, I’ve had 6 appointments cancelled for seemingly no reason and Mir didn’t have any idea about them.

Greatest haircut and beard trim I’ve ever had in my life. The royal shave is quite an experience and definitely worth the money. Mir is a very nice guy and his title as Master Barber definitely shows in his work. For those of you growing a beard and are scared as heck (like me) to go to someone to shape it and not worry that much will be taken, then I suggest you go see Mir. He knew exactly what i wanted, i showed him a picture and that was it. He shaped it flawlessly and believe it or not, my beard looks even fuller just by the way he shaped it. Such a smart and professional man. I really wish i can get his treatment every week but unfortuantely im growing a beard and that would defeat the whole purpose. I HIGHLY recommend Mir.

Best barber in town hands down, Scissor cut for beard and hair is the best, have been going to him for last 2 years and have never had a problem. Aside from the haircuts and shaves his top priority is customer service, most barbers are business first but not with Mir, his main concern is that you’re happy with the service he has provided you. Mir is an artist in every sense of the word.
I have searched and tried several places looking for someone that can handle a shears-​only haircut. I think anyone can learn to trim hair with electric trimmers however it’s near impossible to find someone that can actually use the shears. After my first visit I was sold. He knows what I want and expect in my haircut, he can make recommendations all this done to the utmost attention to detail. After a year of getting my haircuts with Mir I’m not looking to replace this experience any time soon.
Truly a world-​class experience.
Make sure to schedule a cut with time as he is booked a few weeks in advance.

Where do I begin?
After 22 years of failed attempts at facial hair growth, I was finally able to produce decent «mutton chop» sideburns. I was so proud of them, although everyone referred to me as «Wolverine» while I had them, until the time came that I needed to clean them up and line the sideburns up to my jawline.
So I began to research different barbers who specialized in facial hair trimming, because I already knew then, it’s a different beast entirely.
After much deliberation, I found The Art of Shaving and they had good reviews and people had only good things to say about the in-​house barber.
I made an appointment, June 4, 2011 at the Glendale location. Yes you’re reading that correctly, it was in the year of 2011!
Anyway, I come to my appointment a few minutes early and the receptionist informs me that a gentleman by the name Mir will be my barber for today. As the time came for my appointment to begin, she directs me towards the barber spa and I am greeted by a very polite and quiet man whom leads me to my seat.
He flowingly tosses the cape over my torso and legs effortlessly and secures it perfectly around my neck with a pin, tight enough to where it’s as though it’s second skin, yet still allowing for unaltered breathability.
We discuss what it is I was looking for regarding my appointment that day and I tell him I just want my sideburns lined up with my jaw.
After carefully trimming them with scissors, it was time to remove the excessive length going down my neck past my jaws.
Mir reclined my seat, put my footrest and laid a nice hot towel on my face for a few minutes before lathering me up for the shaving portion of my appointment.
And so began the shaving; precise and agile, Mir glided the razor blade across my skin. His movement was so smooth, that I knew then, I had indeed found a Master Barber. He continued to work on my face, not once did the razor drag or tug on my skin, it was as though I had no hair and he was literally rolling over oiled skin.
After several minutes of shaving, Mir put another towel on my face, this time it was soaked in cold water with lemon essential oil infused in it, the towel hit my face and immediately began to soothe my face and rejuvenate my skin. After a few minutes of complete and utter relaxation, the towel was removed and an after shave was applied. Mir’s hands move so wonderfully along my face, I hardly remember he’s there. After my skin is fully moisturized, I was surprised to find Mir beginning to massage my brow, neck, and shoulders, as if I couldn’t relax anymore, the entire experience was blissful to say the least.
After all was done, and my time had come to an end, Mir sat me up and showed me his work in the mirror in front as well as the side and rear angles of my face.
This man’s work was flawless, he took my vision and created a reality for it, a reality where my sideburns came out just how I imagined them, they were perfect.
After such an amazing experience with Mir, I decided to continue my endeavors of facial hair growth and I grew a decent beard, sans ‘stache, I’m still attempting it now 3 years later with no success.
With my beard in full growth potential, I knew I needed to maintain it trimmed with Mir, because he was, is, and will continue to be the one man I trust with it.
after nearly 3 years of service, I am happy that Mir and I have become close friends for the major part of our time.

Growing a beard takes a lot of time and dedication, so you would imagine that I wouldn’t trust just anybody with it. I made an appointment with Natasha at the front desk, who has excellent communication skills. When I first walked in, I was blown away by the warm, yet masculine environment. Throughout the entire service, he had a gentle touch, informed me of different shaving techniques and myths, and was a true master of his craft. I now recognize Mir not only as my barber, but now I consider him a true friend. Mir is a man of intelligence, grace, and charm.
