History

Established in 2011.

The Chronic Effect was started by two best friends in 2011. Colin McAfee, who brought his love for music and DJing and Ian Schuett-​Hall who had a background in theater production lighting. The Chronic Effect grew and branched off from being just a DJ company to an Audio-​Visual provider with multiple employees and a large equipment inventory. The Chronic Effect has provided services for all types of events and clients like The Santa Rosa Symphony and Dutch Bros Coffee.

Business Owner

Colin McAfee (aka DJ McAfee) co-​owns The Chronic Effect Event Services with Ian Schuett-​Hall. An Experienced DJ with roots in all genres of dance music, Colin has an extreme passion for music. Colin is the Principal Bassoonist for the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra and plays for Sonoma State University and the Santa Rosa Junior College. Colin has a certificate in digital sound design from Emory University and has taken many courses on recording and sound engineering.

I would highly recommend The Chronic Effect if you’re looking for an outstanding event anywhere, they were very reasonable and very easy to work with and provided all the music and more in which we requested. This review is way overdue, however I needed to write this because «The Chronic Effect» put out some Great music, MC’d, and provided awesome lighting for our wedding reception at «Epic Steakhouse» on the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Colin and Ian are an awesome team, they showed up ahead time with an awesome Top of the line professional sound system that totally worked in our venue, without affecting the rest of this upscale restaurant. They were more than flexible when we needed to make any musical adjustments during our reception, and made sure it was stress free, quick set up and tear down was awesome, they more than exceeded our expectations, and should we have any type of party, event, or special occasion they would be our only choice.
If you’ve looked around like we did prior to our wedding, you’ll find some DJ’s which are just ridiculous, not only with their pricing for playing music and lighting, but with their attitudes, you won’t get this with The Chronic Effect. What you will get is more than and fair price for some outstanding professionalism and a great package for your event.
Use The Chronic Effect!!! You’ll be more than happy you did and all your guests will as well!

Met these young djs and I have to say they are very down to earth, enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. They really know their stuff and it shows in the services they provide, the equipment they have which is top notch and just their whole attitude and professionalism. Keep up the great work guys!

We hired Chronic Effect DJ and lighting services to perform at a party at our home. Very nice guys, who are very professional and eager. They are extremely nice and exceeded my expectations for the event. Top of the line equipment, which made the experience phenomenal. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for DJ and/​or lighting!
