W Seattle

We made this place our home base for 5 days while visiting Seattle using Starwood points. For a W, I would say it’s average — meeting a expectations but not over-​delivering in any aspect.
Average aspects: Check-​in and check-​out both took longer than I would have liked and scheduling room cleaning was a bit of an ordeal as we had a pup with us and we had to let the cleaning team know in advance when we’d take the dog out for a few hours so they could do their work. Gym was adequate but always a bit crowded.
Above average aspects: The parking attendants were probably the nicest people I met on the staff. They were helpful with our baggage carts and watching our car while we unloaded and loaded up. They also gave us pointers on parking in the city (garages and meter options) since hotel parking was pretty pricey. Location is good for all downtown activities.

This hotel is so-​so. I’ve spent 98 nights of the past calendar year in SPG properties and this is the first property I’ve felt inclined to review. Unfortunately my thoughts are largely negative.
Beginning with check-​in — I have had a handful of experiences where the front desk seems cold and aloof. I’ve written to the hotel complaining about the attitude problem, but it doesn’t seem to get resolved. Given that in general, staff tends to gauge urgency based upon management behavior, I have to assume the management either simply doesn’t care, or doesn’t understand the problem.
Next — there were no upgrades available. This is fine, as I don’t always get upgraded. But the standard room lacks a lot of basic amenities: coffee pot, mini fridge, extra outlets, etc.
This trip (my 3^rd at this property) I am staying in one of the newly remodeled rooms — the design feels inexpensive. Initially, I liked the reclaimed wood look behind the beds, but quickly realized that it is laminate. Further, the walls are furnishings are far too stark. I would say the room is far more consistent with an Aloft room than a W room.
Lastly, I’m just surprised by some of the extra charges the hotel is making me pay. To have a mini refrigerator, I’m paying an extra 25 dollars per night. To have coffee brought to me in the mornings, another 10 dollars. At most other SPG properties, the lack of one amenity can usually be remedied by calling the front desk for little or no charge. That does not seem to be the case at the W Seattle.
Two stars for cleanliness and one star for Trace.

once of my favorite hotels to stay at. i love the W hotel chains. service is always pretty awesome and the gym has some pretty good equipment too. my perk for staying here is Trace the restuarant as they have HH every day. and the W is a good location too. not too far from Pike or the shopping area or even walking to Pioneer Square. the only downfall is the harsh $ 50ish valet overnight parking. but its just the downtown Seattle…

I love staying at the W so call me biased, I don’t care.
The location of this hotel is great. Right downtown and within walking distance to a lot of restaurants, shops, Pikes Market, Century Link Field, etc.
Our room was spacious and clean. Service was superb and the nightlife in this place is jumpin! The lounge/​restaurant off the lobby seems to attract the younger professional crowd for happy hour, which was quite entertaining.
We also appreciated whatever the hotel staff did to either get rid of or mask the scent of all the legal weed everyone was smoking in their rooms! LOL

A glamorous mid-​range hotel, if you will. The lobby was decorated with a fabulous glass Christmas tree which was great fun to sit by and enjoy a drink by the fire. That said, it’s not somewhere you want to spend much time at. The front desk reception was genuine and friendly. I had a great room on the 22^nd floor with a huge clean and comfortable window seat. The bathroom is very standard as the amenities. I also scored a nearby street parking spot on Saturday at 5 PM — making parking free all night and Sunday (after I paid for the 3 hours until 8 PM.). You’ll be happy staying here, just don’t expect Vegas.

I was here on a business trip and like any other W, this one did not disappoint. The staff was warm and friendly. It was in a great location where there’s plenty on dining, coffee, and bars near by. We didn’t do any shopping, but there was some great stores within walking distance too.

Nice clean comfortable bed, beyond that not much to look at. My flight was delayed coming into Seattle. I wanted to cancel but when trying to get ahold of the front desk no answer for over a hour. Putting me past midnight with no option to cancel. No amenities, you have to walk down the street for a pool or hot tub. Your better off staying at the Sheraton.

A good hotel in itself, which pales in comparison to other hotels nearby. Even within the PSG family, the Westin and the Sheraton are significantly better, and more reasonably priced.
The fitness center is a bit of a joke (the Sheraton has a pool and 5 times the gym area) and there are no amenities, no lounge, nothing to make your stay more comfortable. Well, there’s a fireplace at the entrance and a bar, big deal.
The rooms are nice, but I did not enjoy the wooden shutters, where a good ol’ curtain would’ve done the job much better.
The restaurant is actually pretty good, solid dishes, just too slow. My omelet in the morning offset the disappointment of the $ 18 price tag. If you have status, you’re allowed $ 19 for breakfast, so that at least is included. But no coffee!
I also had dinner at the same restaurant and came out quite satisfied. But again, I’d have been better off at the Sheraton anyway.

My family and I recently stayed here, the hotel lobby is beautiful! Big fireplace, little dark inaide but it was cozy and nice. They have a sushi restaurants and bar inside I didn’t have a chance to take advantage of that but my hubby said the bar was really nice and people were cool there!
Can I mention too that we were hanging out at the pike place, we arrived a little early to Seattle so we killed some time and we tried to see if we’re allowed to check in early, we couldn’t and that was understandable but while we were in the lobby they told us to call or come back by 3 o’clock we were at Pike still by 3 o’clock we made sure to call and they told us our room is still not available they didn’t even have here number down correctly until after having a conversation they had a room for us. We reserved our room online weeks before!
The room was nice but outdated, I do enjoy the Bliss Spa kit they give are really nice and useful. I wish they had a actual spa inside! The room was big with a good view, big bed but everything couldve been better for the price and the trademark.
You have to pay for your car each day you stay there which is kinda a bummer but the Valet was nice! When leaving Michael Embaye was our person beinging our luggage to the car, he was very professional nice and friendly! He was talkative and my young son enjoyed his conversation. He even gave us free drinks while heading back home! Thank you again!

The W Seattle is in a prime location for downtown Seattle tourism. It’s one of three Starwood properties downtown, though I prefer the Westin a little farther out. The W seemed a little quieter than the Westin and the Sheraton. It didn’t have the conferences or the cruise ship traffic. It’s a quick walk to Pike Place and other attractions. It’s also near some prime shopping spots and museums.
In general I don’t feel very comfortable at the W and this was no exception. For me it’s style over substance. The beds aren’t that comfortable. The amenities are ok. The biggest pet peeve of mine is that there are no black out drapes, only wooden slatted shutters to block out the light. So if you’re facing east, you get a lot of light in the morning. The best part of the stay was that the climate was actually cool, so the room was comfortable temperature-​wise.

Starwood never lets me down — it’s always style and price over substance. The lobby is super chic with kind of ngg-​tss club music, but the rooms are overpriced and kind of dated. I always wonder what it is people do in these Starwood rooms, but every one, regardless of which chain, always has super dated furniture, with the corners of the desks and nightstands rubbed bare of finish and enormous dents all over tabletops. Maybe I am missing out on all the fun to be had in these rooms?
The bed was fine, except for the lack of fitted sheets, a Starwood hallmark. Bathroom was similarly fine, but nothing over the top. Between the price for the room and the condition of the room, I just can’t say this is a place I would return to on purpose. Then again, I think downtown Seattle is a bit of a wasteland for hotels. Not many of my old reliable Hilton properties, lots of boutique stuff, and then plenty of Starwood disappointment.

I really did not have a horrible time here. My biggest issue was, when we checked in they gave us a room with two doubles. My wife and I are 5’10 and 6’5 respectively. That is it. I tried to ask for one queen, king, or two queens, but that could not be done.
I got a great deal on the hotel, I only paid 150 for the night (thinking that’s why they did not want to change my room).
Nice location in the Heart of Seattle, minutes from most places people want to go see. I was on the 20^th room (was not a spectacular view), but I did not hate the view.
I did have trouble adjusting the A/​C, and window blinds. They do not have black curtains or blinds, so that kind of sucked. I personally like a dark hotel room.
I really had mixed emotions, I had a few things that were annoying, but I did not hate it. I would say I would pay the 260– 280 nightly fee that is the norm.

I stand by my original review. We checked in around 9:30pm on a Thursday on a friend’s SPG points (it was our anniversary) and there was a note on our file that said as much.
Go to check in, and they refuse us, as they can’t find the note on the file. We ask «Who is in charge here?» And two people shout back «no one!»
We get buddy on phone, and a lady comes from behind the iron curtain, finds he note, takes 2 room keys and slams them on the counter, sans word. We stay at W’s in NY, Chicago, Austin… I’m ashamed that the W closest to me has the worst customer service. It’s always been like this, and it baffles me.

I am so torn on how to rate the W Hotel as my last stay in February started off horribly. I arrived at the hotel around 1:30am only to be told my room had been given away and they were moving me to the Crowne Plaza. I was seriously upset since it was so late at night, I had an early meeting and it was going to take another 30 minutes before I could get checked in to my new hotel and go to bed… and to top it off I am a Starwood Platinum — sure didn’t feel like Platinum service! Definitely 1 star for the start of my stay.
However, the next day they had me come back to the W and they upgraded me to a beautiful suite overlooking the mountain. This room was incredible, so it softened my mood on the entire stay. I only wish I could have stayed in that room a few more days.
I’ll be back in two weeks, so let’s hope my experience is a much better one!

Service was pretty solid across the board here from the front desk to the sushi bar/​housekeeping. I’m a big W fan but really disappointed in the room design and décor. Definetly not anything close to the W hotels I’ve recently stayed at in Hong Kong, Taiwan and or even NYC. The rooms reminded me of a Sheraton and had no regular W hotel flair. Usually you can smell that same scent they also pump into the hotel was not there and the gym here was also very small. The service helped to make up for it but I have to say the rooms are really the down fall here and don’t make it feel like a W. First time I’d consider going off my SPG Platinum status to stay elsewhere.

A bit shocking… After staying at W across the country and expecting the high level of swank and sophistication, I was a bit surprised… The room was a bit dated (furniture wise with nicks and scratches), and really didn’t have the expected flair and sex appeal you want at a W. Unfortunately it was topped by multiple apologies of what couldn’t be done during a busy Saturday including confirmation that the room could be cleaned in a generous 2.5 hour window and the inability to deliver bags to a room that was not available upon arrival. In general I wouldn’t complain but when you answer the phone «whatever, whenever», it seems fair to expect something at some time.
There is a new swank hotel called the Motif down the street which unfortunately I will need to try on my next trip.

It was a very comfortable stay for me, I forgot my tooth brush and the staff provide me tooth brush and paste in no time! Great service! Plus it’s close to everything, buses, shopping center, pikes place, everything is in a walking distance. I’d definitely stay here again!

I would give them 10 stars if I could.
We stayed here for one night over the weekend. The hotel is convenient situated near Pike Market and from the downtown shopping areas.
We had a corner room with nice views, and the staff there was super friendly.
Then this happened – I left my wedding rings on the night stand and checked out without realizing it. It wasn’t until the next morning that I realized that my rings were missing.
I called the hotel, and they confirmed that the rings were turned in by the cleaning staff (phew!). The arranged to have them shipped overnight back to me.
I was so grateful and relieved to reunited with my rings the next day.
Huge thanks to the honest and helpful staff at the hotel!

Yeah, I could get used to this.
I’ve stayed at a couple of W’s in different areas, and let’s just say that they fit a certain mold. Perhaps they feel more like a club than a relaxing hotel? So when I was awarded the W in a Priceline deal, I was a little scared.
Luckily, this was one of the normal W’s that I didn’t have to bring my glow sticks to. I was upgraded upon arrival, perhaps because it was a stormy weekend, but it was appreciated none the less. View from the room was great, with a little window bench available for relaxing. The room was clean and comfortable. Not much more you could ask for.
Only complaints? Expensive parking and expensive internet. Come on, W, it’s the 21^st century. Stop overcharging for both.

What I liked best about a recent stay was it’s ideal downtown location. You’re close to cool restaurants, shopping, and of course just steps away from the Seattle library and Public Market.
From SeaTac Airport it was a $ 5 semi-​scenic light rail ride to the last downtown stop and maybe a 2 – 3 block walk. Versus a $ 55+ UberBlack flat rate ride.
Compared to the San Francisco W, the bar and lounge areas, room itself and everything else felt smaller all around. Kinda like Seattle to SF in general. Got a room rate of $ 160. (

Even though with the downtown location, there is a lack of late night nearby eating options. The room service burger is safe to eat, and pretty good! (

The whole Seattle W experience met but didn’t exceed expectations. Convenient for a short weekend getaway!
