Food was ok. Seemed kind of like pre-made frozen stuff, but not terrible. Out of several things. Staff was friendly. With so many other good options, though, I’m sorry to say I probably won’t be back.

Went there for Father’s Day breakfast. That was a mistake. Waited over an hour. Still did not get served. We had to go up and remind them that we ordered coffee after about 20 minutes waiting. Others who arrived after us got served before us. Well we actually did not get served because after 11⁄4 hours waiting we got up and left. That was after my wife asked the waitress about our order and she said«Oh my god» and scrambled through her papers. It appeared she lost our order. Service has always been terrible there but breakfasts have always been great so we come back. We have been going since it was in the old location that burned down. We will never come back again. It has been a nice run but you know the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. I am not insane.

I have such a great time when I come here. They may have had some move challenges, but the staff they have now really make it great. It always makes me feel good, the food is good, breakfast, burgers — calamari OMG — so great! I really enjoy local neighborhood bars where the staff is friendly and the live music is awesome too. I recommend you try it for sure! My happy place!

Scarlet Tree has excellent food… it doesn’t taste like the genetic food chain restaurants that serve the same things with the same taste, this is a very homey restaurant that has its own style and taste. The service was very friendly and efficient, and with the new beef burgundy on the menu, I know I’ll be coming back for more.

I came here after running with my running group and we celebrated a girlfriend’s birthday here. I always concern about parking because it’s in Seattle. However, this place is just right across from a Park n Ride. There are tons of parking spots! That night was a bit busy. I think it’s because there would be a live band later that night. One staff by the bar and one staff in the kitchen. You definitely couldn’t get the instant respond. Everything took LONG time. I really enjoyed my Hawaiian Burger. I was surprised that with one staff in the kitchen they burger still turned out well. Kudos to the staff that night. There were approximately 20 plus of us. I have feeling the group will go back again!

I recently went to the Scarlet Tree on a Saturday night to hear some fantastic jazz and celebrate a special occasion. It was crowded, but not uncomfortably so. The cover charge that night was $ 5(I’m not sure if it varies). My friends and I were on the balcony, which offered a more«private» space for our group and a great view of the stage and dance floor. There was also a very basic bar up there. They didn’t serve any drinks I was interested in so I just had a beer instead. The bartender was friendly and helpful. All of the staff members I encountered were very nice. Over time, a bunch of us would go down to the dance floor to get our groove on. The space was a little small but we were happy to have a place to dance and get up and close to the music. There are also a number of tables down there and a larger bar. I didn’t order any food but friends of mine did. I’m not sure if they forgot the order or if it was really busy. It could have been either but it took about an hour. Again, I’m not sure this is typical and want to be fair to say the place was full at the time. I had a fun night and I’m looking forward to going back again soon. Others have spoken about happy hours and breakfast and I’ll have to try that as well.

The bacon was A-MA-ZING. In general, the food was decent, not fabulous. The service was absolutely horrible. Went for breakfast/brunch last weekend with a friend. We were seated right away, got menus right away, all seemed well. We ordered. I ordered a vodka soda(hair of the dog, right?). 15, 20 minutes later, no sign of it, so we asked the kid working, because he was the only person working who ever came by(he was great, by the way, looks about 15, only person there I would give a tip to), and he was like«Oh yeah, that’s been sitting up here, we didn’t know who it was for.» How the wairess not indicate who an order is for? Anyway… We get our food, not quickly at all, but not so slowly I was going to leave. It was okay. My friend always orders biscuits and gravy. Not bad, but definitely overdone and not enough gravy. But I digress, the food is not what bothers me about this place. After we were done eating, we sat for literally 30 minutes before we got out check. It was annoying at first, but we turned it into a game — How Many Times Can She Walk By Without Realizing We Are Done, Especially After Someone Already Cleared The Table.” I think I won. I took the over. Bottom line — hire some more help. The only reason I am writing this is because the service was So. Horrible. The bacon is why I give 2 stars and not 1.

Saturday brunch. The plus side= not too crowded. Dark and cozy but almost bordering on nightclub dark, which makes some sense. We ordered coffee and food, and the coffee came right away. There were a few miscommunications with the server, so we were left sitting around for a while, battling the fruit flies that had decided that we had set up shop in the flight paths. The food came and was very good, and the service, while a bit slow(and a bit disjointed) was extremely friendly and relaxed. If you’re looking for some good food in a very casual setting, it”s a nice spot, but if you’re all about the pomp and circumstance of a manicured dining experience this may not be your place. In reading the other reviews it seems that service and flies are the two big issues. Seems like these would both be fairly easy to fix.

There are a lot of flies buzzing around the dish pit. Lots of flies. Flying into my eyes and ears and nose and mouth. I just couldn’t eat somewhere that had so many flies. gross. Also, the tables are unstable and the service was WEIRD and awkward and made me feel uncomfortable.

After dining here last weekend I was motivated to write a review so I could help keep anyone from eating here again. If I could, I would rank the Scarlet Tree 0 stars. The food was okay, but by no means anything to tell your friends about. The kicker was the service. Our waiter Damian was simply horrendous. He was rude, short tempered and the least friendly waiter I have had. He even argued with us when we pointed out a mistake HE had made on our bills. If you like bad service and an unbelievably rude waiter, this is the place for you. Forgot to mention that they also didn’t bring out one of my friends meal and when he asked about when it was coming the waiter told him«you should have spoken louder because I never took your order.»

This used to be a nice place to relax and converse at over a glass of red, but no longer. The décor, which is a great crimson red accented with gray, has lost its luster since they started turning the lights on at a brighter level, thereby removing their old, cozy ambiance. The music, once comprised of jazzy gems, is now some mix of old American rock and modern who-knows-what, being played from someone’s phone, which became apparent when they received phone calls and their ringtone was played over the sound system. As for the service, it was polite but sorely infrequent.

Came here Monday for cheap drinks and food before doing karaōke next door. Okay service, drinks and food quality. Low prices.

I generally don’t care much at all about service, but this place was so extraordinarily bad I had to comment. It was on a Friday evening and it wasn’t overly packed yet. I joined a few friends at a table and was not approached for service for a good 5 – 10 minutes. Once the waitress finally got our orders, 2 simple beers and a vodka-cran, it took over 20 minutes for her to return with 2 warm beers. Of course she didn’t even bring the 3rd drink and said it was«coming».15 minutes later it came, and was the wrong drink. She definitely didn’t care at all. She also didn’t bother to ask a new arrival at our table if they wanted anything. So awful… They were also setting up some sort of lame event with a $ 10 cover charge for guys only. Awful awful awful. Don’t bother.

I just saw a review filter in for this place and remembered I’d never updated my review to reflect the one star it truly deserves. The food here is flat-out terrible. I revisited twice after my initial rather abysmal visit, which I tried to chalk up to new-venue mishaps. But one of the two times I visited, we ordered about six items from their happy hour menu and some of them were actually *still frozen* when served. I left that meal convinced that there’s no worse food in the city, and since then have wondered how they’re subsidizing their survival. Since they’re frequently advertising Groupons and other discounts, do take note of how many one– and two-star reviews are in here, and of those reviews which are less damning, you will likely find the patrons are fond of the band or the karaōke, and haven’t partaken of the food. This food is several rungs below Denny’s; I would actually accept microwaved frozen food if it were cooked all the way through and not awful to begin with. But as another reviewer wrote, this is the kind of thing where you worry about getting sick afterward.

This place has been around for AGES!!! I knew the address and location sounded vary familiar when I google mapped the place for the event we were attending:) My review is based on the Love Jones Experience event that was held at the Scarlet Tree. The venue itself turned out to be a little too small but hey that’s a good thing for our friend who promoted the event. Walking in to the place was a little euphoric as I remember coming here back in the 90’s lol’! The place has been updated very nicely, modern yet chic, I would say? Our seat were upstairs so I didn’t get wander about much but what I saw of the place was nicely done. As far as the service I am not going to be harsh as the place was packed to capacity and will a $ 3 well drink special and $ 5 henn shots, I knew it’s going to be slow, PLUS we were a party of 9! Drinks were delicious and so was the food and we pretty much ordered everything off the menu. I tried quite a few dishes and were pleasantly pleased. I’m excited to visit again as I am very interested in the calendar of events this venue promotes! Yay for Scarlet Tree and the nu flavor it’s bringing to the 206:)

I picked the wrong night to come in. At least that’s what I told myself after I left. It was open-mic night which I’m always down to watch. There were some rappers doing their thang up on stage but the mic volume was waaaaaaaayyy too loud. I had to almost scream into my friend’s ear to talk with her– she was right next to me. Thought it was just that group, but no, the next people up were just as loud as well. Definitely killed the overall enjoyment. Ordered some food– the reuben was good but nothing too special from what I’ve tried. I was so hungry that I didn’t really care. But the service is what was annoying. Our waitress came to our table only after we flagged her down a couple times. Maybe someday I’ll come back and try it again…

What a horrible experience. my friend and I came here for my birthday because she said she had been eyeing it and it was newer. We looked at various restaurants in the area’s websited and compared menus and we both agreed that this would be a good choice. When we got there the seating was awkward. There was a large group of people in a half circle facing the tvs to watch a game, which was fine, but it really limited our choices of where to sit. We sat in the nook to the left of the bar. We waiting for a long time for our waitress to come and take our order, we finally ordered our drinks and then decided on our choices. We ordered the hummus plate and it was disgusting. The bread was stale and the hummus was so bland. The Tzatziki sauce was nothing special, either. Finally after a LONG, LONG wait our orders came out. I orded the fish and chips and there were 2 very small pieces of fish and a third that was broken up and thrown ontop of what seemed to be over a pound of french fries. Not good french fries, either. Just your average run of the mill frozen fries. The cole slaw was merely shredded cabbage and I don’t think there was any dressing on it whatsoever. My friend ordered the seared tuna and what a joke that was. The fish was way too overcooked and the salad itself was wilted greens and nothing more. It was obvious that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Probably while they were running to the store to get french fries. My friend and I are pretty easy to please, but we both debated and finally agreed that we had to say something, just on moral principles alone. They must know how bad this was if they want to survive, especially in this economy. The waitress apologized and said that there was no manager and one of the two cooks was brand new. Needless to say, she comped our meal and we left and went down the street to Tacos Guaymas and got some nachos. I hope they improve for their own sake. Neither me or my friend will probably ever risk going here again or recommend to anyone.

Really, your better off eating at Whole Foods than here. I came here awhile ago with some people at work for some brunch. The atmosphere was pretty bleak and dark inside. Its already like that most of the time in Seattle so having a warm bright interior would have helped. There were only two people(waiter/cook) working the floor so service was… slow…very slow. There were only 5 of us, we all ordered simple omlettes that seemed to take about 45 mintues to get to us. The menu could use some major revamping as well. Not much in the way for vegetarian options. Most of its items came out greasy anyway — I can think of better places to blow my diet than here.

More like 2.5. I’ve wanted to go to the Scarlet Tree for some time, my bus going past it every morning until it burned down. Dang, no more breakfast special?(I don’t remember what the breakfast special was, just that it sounded really good.) I waited and watched the building sit, get dismantled and then I switched bus routes so I no longer saw it. I heard it was being rebuilt close to its former location, so I started to get excited again. Two mentions of the place actually operating again had me here this past weekend. Parking was easily found, in the P&R lot under the freeway. Plenty of spaces and great weather. Things were looking up. We were greeted upon entry and took in the venue. There are two levels with tables to seat various numbers of groups. The bar to the right had a full line of alcohol and there was a small stage to the left. I could see it operating in an evening fashion w/music but during the day time, it was kind of odd. For instance, there were two skinny tables where 2 people could sit side-by-side and eat. To eat? Weird, but if you’re there at night and it’s more club feel it may be more appropriate. Anyway. The first gal went to find us a table and while we waited, a second gal came by, a bit flustered and asked us if we’d been helped. We said yes that someone was getting around table for 3. She didn’t seem to hear us and gestured to the aforementioned skinny table for 2(our 3rd friend was in the restroom). So we just smiled and remained standing there as she bustled off. Eventually we were lead to a corner booth where we could look out onto the main floor. The large windows let in great light and there were a few tvs playing the game of the day. Our table was near where the orders came out of so it was busy. And there were people coming from the back, dripping buckets/trays to a cart placed under the window. I dunno about you, but I don’t like drips and if they could put the bussing cart somewhere that’s not within 5ft of people eating, I think that would help the atmosphere. Then things got interesting. Within a few minutes of seating, one person dropped a whole pitcher of water on the floor and another person nearly dropped the coffee carafe on some patrons. When I got my coffee refilled, I moved the mug to the edge of the table and scooted away. We received both breakfast and lunch menus to order from with the note that there was no Rueben sandwich(and that really sounded good too!). We weren’t in the mood for breakfast, but it offered the typical fare of pancake, eggs(scrambled or in benedict), potatoes, meat, their famous scone. The lunch menu had salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Decided on our order and 2nd gal from before came by to take it. When she saw we were ordering lunch she asked us if we were sure we could order lunch. We said yes, we got the menus and were instructed there was no Rueben but could otherwise order. She was anxious so she decided to ask the kitchen to make sure. We placed our orders and showed her the items on the menu because the menu was still very new. We ordered and waited. A long time. About 45mins later we get our food. Actually a bunch of food came out halfway through and was all sent upstairs. I’m relieved I didn’t sit up there, it seemed cramped and out of sight. Maybe there were staffing issues with the kitchen, but the floor had plenty of servers. I asked for some cream for my coffee(the carafe read Café Vitta) and a 3rd gal dropped a handful of single serving creamers on the table and said they were all a bit stressed out. Um, okay. She said that in response to there being no creamer dish, but not that I would have noticed or cared. We get our food and it’s…good! The fries had a nice crispy coating on them. My turkey club was heavy on the mayo(I didn’t think to ask about that) and had a 3rd slice of bread in the center(I could have done w/o that). But it was good. My friends liked their sandwiches too. The Coke tasted funny though. We were starving by then, so ate really fast and were ready to pay soon. I asked the girl if they could do split checks. She didn’t seem sure but was open to it. She came back with individual checks for us and then we provided our cards. She was gone a while then came back. We realized that my card was swiped for my food and my friend’s. I decided not to bother with having it corrected, so I just signed both.(Friend now owes me a meal! Heh.) Restroom is single occupancy, clean, but really dark. We were thanked when we left and went about the rest of our afternoon. There are some definite growing pains here. I will be watching and listening for improvement, but will be open to coming back since the food was good when we got it. If they were up and running properly, this would have been a 3.5−4 star.
