This place was fine until the bartender, Nelson, was a serious a-hole. We requested a song and he literally YELLED at us. Told us to leave, told us to get out. Someone lend him a dictionary open to the word customer service. No tip for you, sir Nelson.

The manager,(Big guy, was wearing a Jameson shirt) was awesome! Kept the drinks coming, let us sit out back so my dog can be with us, checked on us frequently and was very personable.

Last time i was here I remember chasing shots with a cigarette. Heard some kid got shot in the parking lot next door, but if you’re into jenga and living life on the edge you may have found home. Minus one star because the DJ stopped letting me sing Gold Digger on Wednesdays.

Came here for trivia night, one of the best ones i’ve been to in seattle. Very fun with lots of regulars, the host is great and they allow you to buy«rounds» for your table to get a pass on a question in one of the rounds. As for the bar, there is a pretty typical indoor area and a nice outdoor area, pretty chill, you can order pitchers which is nice.

I live right by this bar so I have the displeasure of hearing its music and crowds until closing. But to keep it short: it’s a bar on the ave in the u-district. If you go there Thursday/Friday/Saturday night after 10:00 pm expecting to not run into dozens of obnoxious college students, you need to reevaluate your own judgement. Cheap drinks, super friendly bartenders, and the occasional underground hip hop makes it a pretty decent place to hang out.

Cheap drinks, cute girls, karaōke, and an amazing patio. This is my solid finisher on weds nights. They have Jenga, a photo booth, and a crowded atmosphere. Ages typically range from 21 – 25. Bathrooms are a little rough but it’s the U district, what do you expect. Super fun place!

It is what it is … a freaking bar, so stop complaining about the loud music and late hours! The bartenders are awesome, the drinks are good, and the atmosphere is very fitting for it’s location and demographic. Sure, I’ve been to better bars, but have very few complaints. If you’re leaving looking for a fun place to hangout on a Wednesday, check it out! I would’ve given 5 stars, but I think the bathroom situation is a bit distasteful.

I am writing this at 1:30am on a Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I live a few blocks from the Royal and through my closed window I can clearly hear some guy announcing last call in between bad hiphop. this is a regular occurrence. They don’t listen when you tell them to turn it down, if they answer their phone at all. For the sake of the sanity of the entire neighborhood, please do not go to the Royal.

Never been to such a shitty place. Literally had way too many people in there and would be considered a fire hazard. Several douches smoking inside the bar and patio, waving around their ciggs like they don’t care if they let it touch and burn you. Disgusting place. Could barely breath. Reporting them for fire violation codes.

The Royal Bar is nothing exciting, just a UW hangout crawling with 19-year-olds using their older siblings’ IDs. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to any future visitors, but it gave my friend and me an opportunity to drink and loathe humanity. Our visit started off positive: Snow’s ‘Informer’ was blasting through the speakers, but eventually the experience flat-lined because the bartenders were hard to wave down and it took entirely too long to order a second drink. Fortunately, there’s a by-the-slice pizza parlor next door, so if you need a warm snack for your commute home, it’s a godsend. Once again, not the best bar in Seattle, but it provided shelter from the 25 degree weather outside.

First, let me say, I would rate the place a 1 star but because I was there for a trivia night and I have to say, the bar tender did redeem a star for this place, I am rating the experience I had as well as the food in general. I waited for Trivia to start on a Thursday night. The bar was very warm(compared to the freezing cold outside) so not too cheap on the heater! They had lots of specials and cheap drinks overall. The bar tender was attentive and knew his alcohol. Overall he was very good and also had great customer service. To be fair, if I was to just judge the entire place on him, I would give it a 4 star. Now, the whole package is another story. This place obviously was a Mexican joint at one time because Google still thinks it is some burrito bar. So, if you’re going to take over and rename the place, why name it such a poor name? Not very smart. The back patio is raggedy, old, dirty, not fully enclosed, poor heating, graffiti’ed up, messy area. I could imagine opening it up for the summer if that was a possible option(which it doesn’t look it) or even having it closed due to it not being a usable space during the winter. Guess where the trivia was held? In the back yard of this run down home! That’s what it was! Unfortunately, the back area is actually larger than the whole bar inside. As for service in the back«patio»(as what they call it in the name). . it is non existent. The bar tender delivered of course, because he was good, but no wait service, no bar, nothing. OK, the food. I have to say, the fries were addicting so they got the 2nd star for that. The burger I had tasted very«special» I am unsure as to what kind of meat that was but it definitely had a pungent flavor to it in which I could not put my finger on a description for you all in this review. So the food.. . meh. In conclusion, my review for this place is a. . meh — could have been worse.. could have been better. _________________________________________________________ Just a p. s. on the review.. just to talk about the trivia experience at this place. The trivia was one of the worst I have ever attended. There were no clear categories, no idea on how many rounds, or amount of questions. Just a blank sheet of paper and good luck on where or what to write! Picture round was very poor and inconsistent on what they wanted and with the really bad lighting of the outside back yard, it was a bad choice in delivery. Bottom line, you know it is bad trivia when EVERYONE in the room yells in disappointment that they though it was over but, then there was another round left. Get the hint guys. Most of the best trivia I have ever attended was hosted by 1 person the whole time.. why do 2 guys have such poor trivia? I don’t know! And I don’t care! never going again. ugh.

Super friendly staff and great drinks. Bar tender really knows what he’s doing! This place is a total grungy hole in the wall, but if you’re looking for a good night out and you understand the draw of a dive, this is a great bar with a really friendly atmosphere.

Do you want to meet the loudest, most obnoxious people this side of Greek row? Would you like to experience dubstep tracks at a deafening volume? Do you like to subject those around you to your cheap cologne/perfume by drowning yourself in it before leaving the house? Maybe you want to be accosted by strangers who think they can rap and challenge random bystanders to rap battles? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should definitely go to Royal.

My review isn’t about the food. Just came here late on a Thursday night first week of the quarter. This is from a student’s perspective so keep that in mind. This place is just a fun time. It looks like just a normal bar from the outside but once you get to the back area it’s pretty big. They play good modern hip hop unlike a lot of other places in Seattle. It’s kind of north on the Ave so I wouldn’t think it would be so many people in here but it was a lot. Everyone in here is dancing and enjoying themselves. So if you want to stand around and talk this probably isn’t the spot for you. Drinks are priced right. I can’t say I remember all the details of this place because I was pretty bent but I know I really enjoyed myself. I’ll actually probably be back this Thursday for more fun.

I’ve been here a few times now and can definitely liken it to Bimbo’s on Capitol Hill minus the crowds, slow service, and hipster pretension(that’s a thing, right?). Like Bimbo’s/Cha-Cha Lounge, I would rarely frequent Royal Booze & Burritos on a «busy» night. The off times are the gem, when you can roll in with a group of friends for a low-key, low expectation, chill time. Happy hour is very solid, price-wise and I haven’t had a bad food item yet. It’s a chill summer hangout with a lot of potential — just don’t go on party nights if that’s not your scene.

Their nachos are super good. I had an awesome time when a friend and I went here on a Thursday afternoon in the summer. There was a good vibe with the customers there and the bar tender was super rad. HOWEVER, I went again a few days ago(on a Saturday night) and the people there were really weird. There weren’t a lot of people on the patio, but there was a group of people in the corner humping each other and making out. There was also a guy in this group with his bare butt hanging out of his pants(GROSS). The staff allowed this to happen, even though these idiots were in plain view.

We visited this quick Tex-Mex place in the U-District because we had a voucher for $ 25(if we spent $ 35). There were two of us, and having known the reasonable prices, we would have taken guests with us. We arrived at about 3:45 in the afternoon, and the neons were all off, even though the signage and website said they were open at 2:00. The door was open, so we stuck our heads in and were told that they had new hours beginning at 4:00. OK, fine, but changing the sign would be a good thing to do immediately after switching operating hours. Oh well. We kicked around the Ave for a while until they opened. The atmosphere is best described as «dive,» with wobbly chairs, dim lights, and a rather beat-up appearance. It’s the kind of place I would probably have enjoyed more in college. A fitting establishment in the University District, I suppose. In order to meet our minimum purchase, we started off with«The Royal Mountain,» which consisted of a pile of Tater Tots topped with melted cheese, cilantro, olives, jalapenos, scallions, pico de gallo, guacamole, and spicy sour cream. This dish was amazingly delicious in its trashy way. Although we could have stopped with the app, we had a voucher to use, dammit! We ordered the burritos and booze that were right there in the name of the restaurant. My wife had the«18 Hour Burrito» which featured pork chili verde which had been slow cooked and rolled in a tortilla with guac, rice and beans, and slaw. The flavor was OK, but for pork that had been cooked in sauce for«18» hours, it was surprisingly dry. I ordered the«XX Fish Burrito,» which featured XX(Dos Equis, for you gringos) beer-battered cod fillets, slaw, ginger tartar sauce, and — in theory — tequila corn salsa. When we went, they were out of the corn salsa, so I got pico. No biggie. I actually really enjoyed my burrito, although as a family of burrito connoisseurs, the XX Fish Burrito almost qualifies more as a «wrap,» what with its lack of beans and rice. Service was very attentive and cordial until the server/bartender’s friend came in, and then it slid somewhat. It became an eye contact and wave encounter rather than the effortless service we had started out with. If I wound up at this place in the future, I wouldn’t complain. However, I wouldn’t make it a point to visit again.

I’ve been to this place numerous times from my stint at the UW. Mediocre at best. If you’re a stranger to the area and popped into this place on Thursday-Saturday, you would see what I mean. I’ve heard the scene described as a fraternity party numerous times. The cleanliness lacks that of a more upscale establishment and the crowds(and I mean crowds) get annoying fast. Its loud, boisterous and uncomfortable. On the plus side they do have a cool outdoor seating arrangement and multiple bars for you to try and get your fix. More recently, I’ve seen beer pong games and Mega Jenga being played. I was psyched to see the Jenga, not so much for the pong in a bar. Finally, happy hour is extremely cheap on Sundays. Its a bummer for them that football is coming to an end.

I was able to stop by the RB&B once more after management suggested I do so. They offered to comp my food but i couldn’t find the email that said the person’s name :( anyway, we brought our dog w/us since we had just hit up Magnuson park and heard that this place allowed dogs on the patio. saturday afternoon(1ish), it was really quiet there. Just a few people at the bar. I was alittle sad that they only offered their brunch menu until 2. I wanted lunch! not brunch :( I never seem to choose the right food here! My husband got the pork burrito and i had tacos. His food was way better than mine. I was really appreciative that the waiter brought a bucket of water for my dog, even if she didn’t drink it(she’s alilttle«special»). It was a kind gesture. I swear I’ll come back and order something really good next time!

This bar is going to be the spot to be in the summer They have a huge outdoor patio in the back which is one of a kind in the u-district. The atmosphere is nice and it’s a semi-new(not even a year old) bar so it’s also really clean. The people who own A-Pizza-Mart opened this bar and the type of people you find there frequent here. It’s a nice addition to the bar scene on the Ave. It gets crowded like A-Mart and can be kind of a pain on busy nights to find somewhere to stand without getting pushed. If you find a place to sit keep it!
