Edison is one of the best local Mac techs in the business. He was able to run diagnostics on my wife’s MacBook Air and identify the problem in under 1 hr. Unfortunately it was the hard drive which is solid state and from 2012 so it cost me some $ to replace it but nevertheless once he received the replacement, he installed it and reinstalled the OS and I now have a brand new-​like working MacBook Air thanks to Edison. Thanks again for the great services, the fair labor cost, professionalism, and flexibility! I’ll recommend Edison for anyone’s computer problems

Very nice service and timely. Manual Labor is a lot cheaper than other places. He replaced my screen and keyboard and also cleaned my laptop. Overall, a very happy costumer.

Edison has been my computer repair go-​to guy for many years (6+). Not only does he have the most competitive and reasonable rates, but he does housecalls, works very quickly and has often accommodated me same or next day.
Additionally, there have been several times when i was having an issue, called him, we do remote viewer and he fixes it in about 5 – 10 min free of charge or very inexpensive. Edison is one of my top 3 finds ever on craigslist (besides my beloved Saab and web developer).
I can’t recommend him highly enough, he always goes the extra mile to make sure the job is complete.

After checking Craigslist for someone local and cheap to fix my old MacBook Pro and its non-​delivering DVD player, I found Edison. The reviews sounded great and he’s not that far from Seward Park.
As already mentioned, Edison is an old-​fashioned guy, works out of his home on the honor system, no receipts. He fixed my DVD player (dented case was ‘crushing’ the opening, diagnosed a jumpy cursor problem that had been plaguing me (operator error) and determined I had all the speed I was ever going to have out of this old horse and buggy.
Bottom line, great resource for the low budget crowd.

An update:
I think we are all aware that verified business owners can reply on Unilocal to any review. Instead of using this public route, Edison has sent me EIGHT texts and four phone calls asking me to update my review, because it could be unclear to future prospective customers.
His explanation is that he likes to login to the customer’s system to ensure that everything is working properly. He DID, however, add that he didn’t need my password to access my personal information, which sounded a bit like a threat. Whether it was intended that way or not, this is VERY unprofessional.
Although I already recommended him to another friend before the above occurred, I will not be using his service again.

I am so delighted to have found Edison, the owner/​operator of this business. He not only fixed what I’d asked him to repair on my computer, but found several other glitchy things and put them to rights as well at no additional charge. He is professional, courteous, friendly, very good at computer repair, fast, and his prices are beyond reasonable. I ended up paying him more than he charged me, and still felt as if I was getting an amazing deal. I would highly recommend him to anyone. This is a home based business in fabulous north Beacon Hill.

I recently spilled water on my Macbook Pro and the keyboard started to act really funny overnight. I’m usually pretty good at fixing my own computers but after watching a youtube video on replacing the keyboard and how painful it is, I thought I’d let an expert do it and save a Saturday afternoon doing something more productive, like take pictures of my cat.
I did a search on Craigslist for ‘Macbook repair’ and one of his postings came up. Personally, I think if Edison built a business around great Craigslist postings, I think he’d be flat broke. Fortunately for him, I did a Unilocal review and found his track record to be outstanding. I thought I’d put the reviews to the test and called him.
Like many of the other reviewers, I was shocked that he was doing business out of his house but, whatever, I’m Asian and understand the need to be cheap and hustle. His wife opened the door, said ‘hi’ to me, and then asked me to leave my computer with her. I’m not sure why I willing complied, but I did what she asked, and left my computer in someone’s house without any verification that this was even a legitimate business.
Edison call me back 20 minutes after I dropped it off and gave me a diagnostic of what I needed to do to get it fixed. Pretty much I’d have to get a new keyboard ordered from a seller, have that delivered and then he’d have to install it. All it all, it’d take roughly a week to get the whole thing complete. We compared a few sellers and he recommended that we buy from the one that had a better seller rating, which would eventually cost $ 7 more dollars. I agreed that was probably the best move.
The part got in 2 days early and Edison had the whole thing fixed two days ahead of schedule.
I took the machine home but a few of the keys didn’t still didn’t work. I called Edison and brought the laptop back to him. He diagnosed that the connector was a little crooked, whereby making some of those keys not work correctly. Edison fixed the connection and now the whole thing works like a charm. I love his lifetime guarantee on labor!
All in all, excellent experience and I’d take any of my machines back to him that need fixing.

I had my Sony Viao laptop power jack replaced by Edison. Fast service and great price. I had it fixed for almost half the price suggested by other shops. Strongly recommended!

Edison took my ailing computer on a Saturday afternoon, and had it back by Sunday afternoon. First off, that was extremely quick — far surpassing my expectations in timeliness. Furthermore, he completely resolved the issue, and I was nothing less than stoked to have my computer back to full health. And the big coup was the price: what excellent value. I felt like I was underpaying for relief /​security I got in return.
Tend Computer is absolutely worth your time. Avoid any name-​brand Geek Squad-​type stuff. The price and turnaround time here will exceed those companies easily.

Edison was very helpful in replacing my laptop keyboard. He quickly responded to emails, had a location that had ample parking, and his availability to look at my computer fit perfectly with my schedule. I was ready to go again in a week, which is how long it took for the part to come in.
I would highly recommend Edison’s work and will visit again if I have another computer problem. It should be noted that Edison is a cash-​only operation and is not set up to take credit cards.

Thank goodness for both Unilocal and Edison. Without Unilocal I would not have found Edison. Without Edison, my laptop would still be a useless, completely blank screen staring back at me.
I returned from a week long business trip with a crashed laptop. I used a friend’s computer to find a reputable repair person, called Tend (Edison), took my laptop over in the morning, sat down in his living room. He turned it on and diagnosed the problem as a crashed system. I left the laptop with him. He repaired Windows on my laptop for a very reasonable price. I picked it up in the afternoon. This all happened in one day! Now I have a functional computer and I am enormously grateful to both his Unilocal reviewers and Edison. Highly recommended!

This man is very honest. I had an unknown problem with my desktop which causes it to automatically shutdown randomly. I brought it to him to test it. After 3 days, he said he couldn’t find any issue and that it was running fine. So he returned it to my without charging me a penny. Since I took my computer back, it’s been working well. Weird.
I highly recommend this place. You can be sure that he won’t try to cheat you.

I was sure we had an unfixable problem, competing networks, passwords, operating systems. Edison came to our house and waded through all the computer barriers that we had unknowingly installed over the years and solved our problem. YES! I would recommend him to anyone.

My computer got attacked by a malware virus over a month ago. I took it to Office Depot (it was convenient & I was freaked out). They charged me $ 250 + sold me MacAfee protection. And my computer still didn’t really work. I took it back the next week. They held on to it for three days. Things were still a little funky. Until I finally reached the end of my rope– too many crashes, too much weirdness. I needed help I could trust. So I turned to Unilocal.Rather than attempt another Big Box Chain store, I wanted to keep it local. And Unilocal gave me Edison. (Team Beacon Hill!)
His daughter was watching cartoons when I dropped off my laptop on Saturday morning. Edison capably took my tech baby, told me «Tomorrow», told me the (very reasonable) price and gave me his card.
He wiped the drive, installed Windows 7 and bam– back to rights. No drama. (I lost the contents of my hard drive because I effed up the back up but yeah well…)
I wish I’d taken my Toshiba to Edison the first time. Now I know better. Shop local. Tend Computer. I’m a fan.

Took my daughter’s laptop to fix the power port. He had it fixed and ready for pick up in less than 24 hours. Very reasonable price too. I highly recommend him for any laptop needs.

TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO THIS MAN.
His name is Edison (no joke!) & I brought him my laptop, which it turns out had a fried motherboard. However, the laptop is new enough that a motherboard isn’t available to replace my fried one.
So he closed my laptop up, gave me a few recommendations (returning it to Best Buy to have them order me a new motherboard), and charged me NOTHING.
That’s right, NOTHING.
I tried to get him to accept at least some payment, and he wouldn’t because he hadn’t fixed my problem — even though he’d probably saved me at least $ 100 in diagnostic work.
A+++, this guy is awesome. Take your sick computers to him.

I would definitely recommend this to my friends and others, who need computer services/​repair, but I had —-misunderstanding — - and thought I should disclose.
The power jack on my netbook was damaged after an accidental fall. I found out about Tend Computing off of Craigslist. I went to the website, and then called up the number.
Other computer repair services were quoting me anywhere from $ 100 to $ 200 and a 2+ week turn around time. Tend quoted me around $ 30 to $ 40 with a 1 – 2 week turn around time.
I drove over to his place (Tend operates out of a single family home in Beacon Hill) — – . I dropped off my netbook (NOTE: you don’t get a receipt or anything, but you can feel confident and trustworthy with him).
2 days later, he called me to tell me that my computer was ready to pick up. I excitedly drive down to Beacon Hill to pick it up, but it was the wrong computer. —— After some phone calls, he realized I was the wrong person, and my netbook was not yet fixed. He did not have the part and neither did his suppliers. I found the part on eBay, told him about it, and he told ME to order it from there.
This is where the confusion started.
So I ordered the part from eBay. The next day, he called me to tell me that he ended up ordering the part from the eBay also. The following week, the parts arrived, my netbook was repaired, and I went to pick it up. We had some discussion about the ordering of the parts from ebay, which confused me a bit, but I paid him anyway because it was really in expensive. So, in the end, I paid less than $ 50 total, which is a great deal. I simply thought that I should not have had to order the part myself, especially since he ended up ordering the part himself. It would have been less confusing otherwise.
I would not hesitate to do this again.
So, in summary, the services are very inexpensive and the quality is very good. This repair took place Oct 2009 and the netbook is operating just as new as of May 2010. But inquire whether the needed computer parts are in stock or if he has to order them. Let him order the parts.
Keep in mind that this business is a small home business. It is trustworthy and the quality of computer service is good.

Our laptop fell onto the floor and stopped working. We brought it into Edison at Tend Computer. He checked out the computer, determined that the hard drive was broken, identified repair costs, and made the fix. He was responsive, affordable, and did a great job recovering files and setting up programs on the new hard drive.

If you can get past the fact that Tend computing doesn’t have a traditional store front, then you are in for a very pleasant customer service experience.
I needed a new power jack and adaptor for my Toshiba laptop. I also asked them to clean up my operating system to help improve my PC’s performance. They said they would have to order the jack and that my machine would be ready in a few days.
A few days later, they called to tell me that my PC was ready for pickup. Everything worked perfectly. The fee that they charged was very very low (especially compared to other estimates I received). Like another Unilocaler, I wrote the check for more than the cost of the invoice because I thought the price was too low.
After 6 weeks, the computer is still working very well. In summary, if you are looking for friendly, personal service, give Tend Computer a try!

Two weeks ago. I had a few Unilocalers over and when they wanted to see an infamous Unilocaler’s newly posted close-​up photo. I got my computer and brought up the strange photo of the strangest Unilocaler ever. Moans erupted all across the room and apparently the biggest cry was from the computer because after the photo came up on the monitor the computer decided to commit suicide and immediately stopped working.

My attempt to resuscitate the computer was hopeless. I needed help so I turned to Craigslist to find a computer tech. And contrary to popular belief you don’t need to send c*ck photos to get a response from a Craigslist ad.
Being my third P.O.S. Dell laptop with the same problems (power issue burns out the system) I wasn’t very hopeful that my computer could even get fixed. The previous times I’ve had my Dell’s looked at I got charged a flat fee to get told «sorry bub… the computer’s a piece of crap» so I was looking for someone who could diagnose the computer first before charging the typically outrageous tech fees.
I looked for computer services and found Tend Computer. I wrote on their website and Edison emailed me back the next day. I called to follow up and he said I could drop off the computer and he would look at it without charging me.
I dropped off the computer at his house and he called the next day to tell me that the power assembly was broken and that the motherboard and GPU were burned out. That meant that the computer was completely shot.
I had a lot of files from work I needed to get off the computer let alone gigs of music and photos (no porn here suckas). Edison wasn’t going to charge for looking at the computer but I asked him if he could transfer some of the data on the hard drive to a portable drive for me. He said he could and was really flexible as when I could stop by to get it done.
A week later I brought over a portable hard drive and he got all the files I needed off the hard drive. I also asked him to delete files off my hard drive as I was sending the Dell back to the factory and he did it thought it took extra time. We had agreed on $ 35 to do the transfer but charged me only $ 25. I split the difference with him.
Edison is really responsive and did a lot of the work on the weekend. His offer to look at your computer first before telling you what needs to be done is really valuable as other places will charge you a flat or hourly fee just to even drop off your computer. Lastly he is very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. After working with other computer techs (thanks to Dell’s crappy laptops) Edison is definitely the best tech I’ve worked with.
