History

Established in 2004.

After the group AGHOST had been around for 4yrs. It was time to reach out and offer the community more information about ghosts and what ghost hunters really do. So the tours were developed for the Halloween season, but due to popularity. Now the tours are offered year round.

Ross A.

Business Owner

With over 20 years of investigating the paranormal and 9 years running a non profit group, Ross Allison travels the country and the world investigating paranormal activity, collecting ghost stories and researching cemeteries. He speaks at colleges and universities about his adventures as a ghost hunter and teaches a class based on his book, Ghostology 101 — Becoming a Ghost Hunter.

Ross has appeared on a number of radio and television shows, including The Learning Channel’s America’s Ghost Hunters, ABC’s Scariest Places on Earth, Travel Channel and Sci-Fi’s Ghost Hunters.

In Seattle, he offers ghost tours through Spooked in Seattle Tours and volunteers at the Washington State Historical Society, working to preserve our nation’s cemeteries.

I was looking for an alternative for the Underground Tour that’s located just a block away, and I found Spooked on LivingSocial (90 minute tour for 2 for $ 18).
For the record, the Underground Tour is far better as you really get to travel underground to the old sea level of Seattle.
If you’re looking for some great ghost stories, Spooked might be for you. Not many things scare me, but I can honestly say my heart was pounding a few moments, especially at the end in the haunted room…
I wouldn’t do it again, but if you’re a first timer and can get the LivingSocial deal for $ 18, why not?

This tour was great! This was my first time in Seattle and I wandered into the Spooked in Seattle basement/​1st floor. I went on the history tour with Jim (who was awesome). I would recommend this tour for anyone who would like to know a bit more about the history of the Emerald City.

Last week my sister and I visited Seattle and went on the Spooked in Seattle Ghost Tour. I was a little apprehensive because I easily get spooked and I don’t watch scary movies at all. We emailed them the morning of a Friday and they were luckily able to accomodate us.
Our über driver dropped us out in front of their space and as we entered the building we stumbled upon 2 rats on the stairs. We both screamed and interestingly, although this wasn’t any part of the tour, I think this really broke the ice for the night. We started our tour by learning about Seattle’s history and why there is a lot of paranormal activity in Pioneer Square. I’ve done Seattle’s underground tour in the past and have always thought it was really interesting so I was excited to try the ghost tour. Once we had a little history lesson on Seattle we were off to visit sites in which there was said to be a lot of paranormal activity. Our tour guide brought an ipad with him and after telling a story, he would bring up evidence the event occurred by pulling up pictures or audio. The most interesting space we visited was Merchant Café. We ended our night back at the headquarters where we started and heard a couple more stories about things that have happened in their individual space.
The tour was definitely education and the stories were very interesting. Our guide kept me engaged and his stories kept my sister from sleeping that night. I could’ve sworn I would be the one not able to sleep, but hey… I learn new things about myself every day.

When my partner and I first moved to Seattle we had no idea all the cool history there was to learn! Aten showed us some pretty amazing spots and had a great way of presenting all the history in a fun and entertaining way. I’d highly recommend this to anyone visiting Seattle, and is a great compliment to the other underground Seattle tour as they both give different perspectives and show different sights!

I am glad I choose this tour and not the Paranormal one given by the Bill Spidels Underground tour. We were going to go on thag tour but my stepmother in law steered us clear of that deceitful tour. Ross really knows what he is talking about. He is not just making up stories to scare tourist. The death museum is very creepy. Their part of the underground is cool. They take you in the dark to really get you spooked. We didn’t see or hear anything paranormal while on the tour. When we got home though we had a scary experience. My sister in law made a comment if her boyfriend was in the shower. Well he wasn’t and when she went to check the faucet was on hot. It wasn’t low or very high. It was just on perfect hand washing flow. Who knows we think it may have been that my husband didn’t turn it all the way off. We will never know. Anyway I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about history about seattle and also get spooked in the process.

Very cool tour. Walked through the streets of Poineer Square at night and caught some paranormal experieces on camera. Our tour guide Anten was very cool and informative. We felt safe in a group while simultaneously feeling close to the spirits. The underground tour afterwards was indeed spooky and intriguing. Highly recommended to all who are interested in the paranormal.

There’s history to be learned and jumps to be had (either from something spooky or the usual fare around Pioneer Square). Take your kids or your easily scared significant other (it makes for a great date night). The perfect thing to do for paranormal enthusiasts, history buffs, tourists or locals. Tour itself is fascinating and the Museum of Death is great.
Remember to wear a jacket and comfortable shoes!
Ps: Adrian was our tour guide and you’re in for a treat if you get him.

This is my first time in Seattle and I found this deal with my friend on groupon. Once you get inside the building you really get the feeling you’re in like a horror movie or in dracula’s dungeon. They had some pretty cool artwork from local artists, but it was a little expensive. They have some gifts as well, but nothing super interesting. The furniture and overall set up was what really caught my eye and got me in the mood to hear scary stories about Seattle!
Adrian was our tour guide and he was amazing! He had some much information and had a way of keeping us engaged. He did a great job of making sure we Could all hear him from any vantage point. The tour was also small enough that we didn’t have to fight for prime real estate to hear/​see anything. I learned a lot about Seattle and the history of some of the best local spots. The tour is walking so make sure you wear comfortable shoes, he said about 5 blocks, so it wasn’t bad at all. We did go inside u set ground tunnels a little bit and that was very cool.
I highly recommend this tour if you’re new to the city or even locals who want to learn more about the city. This is NOT a ghost hunting adventure, so don’t expect that. What you can expect is an interesting tour learning about the history of Seattle and it’s hot spots. The only negative thing is that I did see plenty of rats, so if you’re terrified of rats like I am be warned. But what can you expect in the big city :)

This tour should be called Punked In Seattle and not due to the music roots in this city. Between the so-​called tour guide Aten who insisted he always dressed in Victorian era clothing and the fact most of the tour was spent standing in the rain in sidewalks outside of buildings, I felt the spirits lift money out of my wallet and into the hands of slick talkers who say nothing. Aten has precisely the delivery that’d make him great on HSN if they ever get a Goth Clothing for Suburbanites slot.
Oh, and you get to pass an iPad around looking at grainy videos.
This tour is neither scary, not particularly intriguing in any way.

my comments resulted in a message from the tour guide and he even further lowered my opinion of this outfit with a condescending tone:
«it seems you were looking more for a haunted house experience which we do not offer. We do make that clear in the beginning though, so sorry you missed that.»

— yes, I live here and know that. Don’t subject paying customers to standing it without a reasonable payoff.

This tour was a lot more fun then me and my friends expected it to be. Really inexpensive and gives you some good insight on the history of the city too! Totally recommend this for any and everyone!
Side note: Due to the old plumbing, be sure you hold down the flush the ENTIRE TIME… I learned the hard way!

I recommend taking this tour in conjunction with the Seattle Underground tour as the first will give you a good history of the city and Spooked gives you all the things no one wants to talk about. Our tour guide, Jules was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and supplemented her facts and stories with photos and video on an iPad.
The tour doesn’t involve too much walking but I feel that we covered quite a bit in the 90 minutes. It was interesting to hear all the stories, see the photos and see the sites. Jules made it easy to imagine what it was like when the events transpired.
If you’re fascinated by the darker side of history and enjoy ghost hunting shows, I highly recommend this tour.

This Place is so awesome. The people who own/​run it could do so so so much more with it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s horrifyingly beautiful, but other than Crow and I, there isn’t a goth in sight. The place feels like home to us, but just don’t always feel welcomed by everyone there. But I spose that’s like most homes now that I think of it: p
Thank you Ross, for always being enthusiastic and kind, you, along with the Victorian antiquities will always keep us coming back.

If you love knowing about your city’s history, and a good dose of the paranormal, then this is your spot. It was my second time being underground (did the day tour a couple of years ago) and this is a totally different experience. As a person that has a high interest in the paranormal field, I definitely wanted more after the tour was over.
Our guide, Aten was superb. He had a great amount of knowledge about the history of Seattle and he also was willing to answer any questions of the guests. His quick wit and his way of making us feel like he loves what he does. He’s also good at improv it seems, he can make a good joke about anything unexpected.
On a side note, it would be nice if they can filter out intoxicated guests as it really ruins the experience to some people. Aten did a really great job on keeping the crowd together and answering questions, even if the questions are straight up stupid.
Definitely doing this again, only hopefully with a sober group this time around. Looking forward to the Tacoma ghost tour and the Bremerton one. Oh by the way, since you did a great job, your name isn’t Fabio on this one.

Took the tour last night for the first time after purchasing a two for one deal on Groupon. Make sure you reserve your spot in advance because everyday was filled to capacity. Our tour guide Aten was great. He cracked jokes and involved the guests the entire time. We were a pretty big group also and he did a good job with being knowledgable about the area. On the tour you walk around the areas of Pioneer Square that supposedly have hauntings and you get to learn the history behind these stories. It was also cool to learn a little bit more about Seattle. This tour isn’t a ghost hunting tour, it’s a walking tour to learn and get creeped out. Overall the tour was cool and everyone should check it out!
On a side note, if you or anyone in your party decides to drink beforehand please remember to be courteous to others on the tour. We don’t need to hear pointless questions every 2 minutes or listen to you challenge every statement made. Aten did a good job keeping his cool and I applaud him for this. If this annoying female with the spiked starbucks drink is reading my review, realize that everyone on this tour was talking about you behind your back and wanted you to shut your mouth. We all paid money to be there and learn. By the way, I was the one that said shut up to you and your annoying group during the last part of the tour. I’m glad it worked, I should have stepped up earlier because no one else did. Also, don’t think we all didn’t here your racist remark about Asian people which was just plain rude. Ignorance in this day and age is pathetic.
Great tour and I will sign up for one of the public ghost hunts offered monthly!
