After following the same stylist around for years, I was forced to find a new one– (and we all know what kind of trauma that can generate). Now I feel so fortunate to have discovered Shanti in general, and Megan in particular. I’m never going back to box color or looking for a parking space downtown (which drove me to box color in the first place)! The atmosphere there is friendly and professional, the Aveda products are without compare. I love being serviced by Megan, but honestly every client that I have seen in the salon has stepped out of there looking amazing whether they had short, long, straight or curly styles– whoever their stylist was. I wish I had the nerve (or the youth) to rock some of the colors I’ve seen on other clients. I did get creative with a red tone with highlights, and hardly a day goes by that I don’t get complimented on my hair. I highly recommend Shanti salon. (And did I mention that parking is free and plentiful, and there’s a great bar and restaurant across the street –Mio Posto– where you can go celebrate your new look?)

Recently had my hair cut and colored by Christina, and my hair turned out amazing. She really listens well to what you want and has a gift for color. When we talked about me going short someday she showed me some adorable pictures of pixie cuts she has done. So cute I just might go for it! I definitely recommend Christina and the Aveda products, both are excellent!

Lisa Marie provides an incredibly natural color for my hair. The compliments on my hair color come from sales associates at the market or at the post office to events and outings and family and friends. I am 53 and 90% gray and people are shocked when I tell them! She listened to what my goals are for style and color both short term and long term. For a person transitioning from dark hair to lighter over several years and then adding platinum highlights upcoming to gradually blend … I recommend finding hair colors and styles on Pinterest and just having a conversation of your goal with Lisa Marie. She’ll work with you and what YOU want while also given recommendations and blend the two together — your style with her expertise.
I use two products that have lasted me 10 months and will last a good few more months. (Purchased traveled sized and always keep those in my suitcase!) I haven’t ever felt pressure to purchase what recommendations the stylist had for my natural hair and hair style and hair coloring products.

Lisa Marie has been my stylist for about 2 years. She has consistently given me great haircuts and is always willing to talk the plan through first until we both have a good sense of the goal. I was most impressed with her color skill. My Asian, dark hair is very difficult to lift. In the past, I’ve spent up to 6 hours at various local salons (Habitude, Au Courant –Mercer Island) sitting in the chair while they attempted to balayage or highlight my hair. Each visit ended in disappointment and frustration with barely visible streaks. Lisa Marie was not daunted at all when she heard I wanted balayage and sure enough 90 minutes later (cut and color) I was out of there with exactly the style I was looking for. Love at first visit!

got a mani/​pedi here the other day — the service was great, very friendly and excellent job done on my nails. the only drawback was being somewhat pressured to pre-​book another appointment at the front desk when i went to pay — i treat myself to a spa mani/​pedi every so often, but i certainly don’t need one every 4 weeks like they tried to recommend and after i politely declined once, i wish they’d have left it at that.
might be back, but still on the hunt for my glass slipper nail salon.

Lisa Marie has been doing my hair for the last two years! She is awesome. Always listens and sincerely wants to make me look my best! Love the color she does and her cuts are amazing! Besides doing great hair, she is super nice and fun!

I had an opportunity to have Lisa Marie put highlights in my very thick and long hair. Was an awesome experience from beginning to end. Super blessed to have met her and to find THE hairdresser… which I have been searching for since moving here almost 4 yrs ago. Yay!

Lisa Marie is your new hair stylist! I recently moved to Alki from Los Angeles and was super nervous about finding a place to get my hair cut but it turns out I live down the street from Shanti Salon. Lisa took her time and showed me some different ideas for a fresh and up to date cut because I needed to cut a bunch of damaged hair and was nervous for a short cut. If that wasn’t enough of a curveball, I was growing out my natural color from a really dark brown and my roots are dirty blonde so she hooked up this really great bayalage color to help blend it. I get so many compliments on the new look. Heading back real soon for me and my son! I’m super excited for her to be let loose to do something cool for him too. Not to mention, I LOVE that she is also from LA! Little slice of home right here in West Seattle! Go check her out

I love Aveda products and the smells and front desk people are incredible. So I decided to get my hair cut– bad idea! I walked out with a female version of Jon Bön jovi which I did not ask for. I said what I did not want and then the final product was exactly the opposite of what I wanted. Maybe the other stylists are better or it was just a bad day and a clear misunderstanding. So I have now cut off my hair to a short and sassy style so it will grow out to something more my style.
I will go back to shanti for aveda products but not a hair cut.

My partner and I went to get haircuts at this salon. When I went in to get my haircut, I was greeted by a stylist who took me back to get my hair washed. She proceeded to tell me how tired she was from going out the prior night. I should have left then!
After, she begins to cut my hair, doesn’t listen at all, spends approximately 15 minutes on my hair and then puts a nasty gel in to «style» it. I spoke to the manager because I was appalled with how little thought and effort went into my cut. I have a short cut and my side burns were completely different lengths! And there is a patch of hair missing on my head due to the stylist.
The manager had another stylist fix it agreeing that there were issues. it didn’t make up for the poor customer service I originally received. On top of everything, I still had to pay full price for the cut. I will never return to this place.

Cat is amazing!!! First of all I called in on Saturday night and they got me in ASAP Monday morning-​perfect. Second, I had a reddish– brown ombré that my husband HATED (and just decided to let me know on our anniversary road trip) Cat color corrected the red out and added blonde highlights and some warm blonde lowlights. IT LOOKS AWESOME. I could not have expected it to turn out this wonderful and uniform in color. I thought for sure it would take me months to get rid of red. Nope, these Aveda products were gentle as heck too. My hair feels the same after all of that. Thanks again Cat, I feel so blessed to have stumbled across this Unilocal page

A stylist from Shanti Salon put a request on the Buy Nothing Facebook Group, looking for color ‘models,’ to get their hair colored for free (I guess it was for a salon training or something). What seemed like a generous and fun offer turned out to be a bait and switch. After receiving a text confirmation, I was then told of the ‘$ 20 color product charge.’ No biggie I text that I was very appreciative and excited. After rearranging my schedule I received a text the next day stating they had too many people and wouldn’t be able to do it. She then offered $ 20 off on her services. I noted the discount’ is available on their website. Trying to use the ‘buy nothing Facebook group’ to generate goodwill among the community then not following though is underhanded. I feel like the whole ordeal was a blatant and shameless attempt at marketing.

Seen again by Cat this past Sunday I can’t get enough of how amazing she is! We took my color to the next level and I’m in love with both are happy. Cat makes me feel so comfortable like I’ve known her for years; her skills in coloring and cut are by far the best! I definitely found my go to hair stylist and I will not be changing (unless she moves out of state lol) thank you again Cat you truly have a gift!

Best Brazilian wax ever! April was awesome and I would recommend her to anyone! She is very sweet, patient and does great work!

My wife says that this is her favorite place in town – always a quality styling at a reasonable price. It is easy to schedule an appointment with her stylist (Megan), and everyone in the salon is friendly and professional. She has had difficulty in the past, because we were moving so frequently, in finding someone who can help her get the color just right. She says she loves it, and I always thinks she looks fantastic when she comes home.

Love this place and really LOVE that it’s in my neighborhood! Megan is wonderful! She has done my cuts and color for almost a year, and she has given new life to my hair. I always get complements on my bangs and color after getting it done. And she recommends products that work wonders on my hair (I’ve tried so many products from other salons and nothing helped my oily scalp and dry ends like the Aveda products). I’m so happy that I found her. I’ve also seen a few other stylist there for blowouts and they are lovely as well. I defiantly recommend this place.

I love this place. Lisa has been my longest running hairdresser relationship ever. She never fails to go above and beyond to create an amazing look! Her hair coloring is pure art (watch her balayge!), her cuts are spot on (not afraid to give you an opinion, great with cut options, totally open to requests), and her hair straightening makes my hair so soft and so easy to deal with. She’s a great person inside and out and a joy to see every time I come in. She’s just pure art and amazing when it comes to hair! Me and my hair thank her. :)

I just experienced a 90 minute facial with April and I now know what it’s like to have attained Nirvana. I also go to Shanti for cuts and color (last time it was fuscia) and have had a fantastic experience every single time. One of my favorite places in all of Seattle! Bravo!

I am SO disappointed with Shanti. I received a gift certificate for this place and was so excited to get my brows waxed. I was excited because my aesthetician was very friendly but when I got home I noticed that my brow was a little bit waxed too much, meaning somehow I was missing a little more hair than I should have. I called the salon, didn’t get a call back — I sent them an email, never received a response. I even sent them pictures. I’m not so much upset about the mistake since they happen. I so much more upset by the lack of response. No response AT ALL. Never going back there.

I love this place. I usually come in for waxing. Very professional place, nice atmosphere.
