History

Established in 2012.

Since the summer 2013, we’ve proudly brewed and served beer from our charmingly funky garage in the alley behind 7-​Eleven near the corner of Nickerson St. and Queen Anne Ave. With tears of nostalgia and an eye towards the future, we closed the doors on the garage in September, 2014. Since then, we’ve been planning and building a 15-​barrel production facility, tasting room, and rooftop deck, just down the street from the original garage brewery.

For a brewery with a tap room, this is pretty great! They have parking, a food truck, and even some popcorn if you dont want to buy food. The bartenders are attentive even when it is busy. The beer is good! Great variety for every style people might like. This is truly a neighborhood place

Love this little place! I would take a star away for not having a consistent schedule for the food truck, and for being closed at 8 on Sundays, but I cannot do that to this great micro-​brewery. Eat before you come, or hope the food truck is there (great tots!), or get pizza delivered, just so you can enjoy the ambiance and, of course, the beer.
Every beer I have tried has always had unique flavors, and I like to taste different ones each time. My husband and his coworkers like to walk up there after work sometimes, and finding a place to sit is usually easy– as long as you’re ok with being outside (there are about 5 spots to sit inside). The heaters make it comfortable, and the rooftop portion is now covered to shelter you from the Seattle rain.
Also, service is always quick, and you can even order from the patio without having to go inside. All of this, combined with usually ample parking, has me going back often.

Its hard to stand out among the many micro breweries in north Seattle, and yet rooftop prevails. Their new space is very nice. The outdoor deck is saturated with nice heaters and they have nice w indscreens and even blankets to borrow. The whole thing works out to a cozy space, even during the current December rainstorm im weathering without a coat!
The beer is top notch and the owner is a real gentleman.
Come to rooftop. You will not be disappointed.

What a cute little place, and surprisingly warm in the outdoor seating area. Popcorn machine is a great idea to tide you over while you try a few beers. Very friendly bartender. Great neighborhood feel.

What a great little place! It’s a cozy size which I really like. Very cool wood and rusted metal accents.
We sat out at the patio with our dog. There were hearing lamps all over which was awesome. You can order outside at the window/​barn door which is super convenient. Otherwise you walk around a wall to go inside. Excellent beer selection at great prices. A friendly guy poured out beers and had awesome Addidas on! Music was indie and at a nice volume. Help yourself to popcorn inside at the popcorn cart. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to visit in the summer!

Amazing Beer! I loved the Stargazer and Simcoe IPAs. Great atmosphere and the bartender (Bill) knew the beers well (with passion). Definitely recommend Rooftop!

This place is solid, there’s no other way of putting it. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and I really love the fact that you can order from the outside walk-​up window. They have a great selection too. A lot of great IPAs (what else is new) and a bunch of experimental offerings as well. I particularly like the Gateway Pale as an alternative to the more hop-​forward beers, and their Coffee Porter, Hoppin Honey (a braggot – a hybrid of mead & beer), and Russian Imperial Stouts are some of the tastiest brews I’ve had in a long time.

This place has a great start on things. Good beers, nice outside seating, free popcorn, and a food truck in the parking lot for grub (gulf tacos tonight, yummy!) unfortunately they allow children in the space. We watched one family move three times after letting their children destroy each table, leaving the mess behind. I’d have given four stars, but kids in a bar is a big NO for me. Get a freaking babysitter you cheapskate and leave us some adults only space, please!

The beverages were amazing. Creative variety while still maintaining traditional quality. I was here a few weeks ago, it was chilly outside, but with heat lamps and blankets provided, this quickly became one of my favorite spots.
The owner was very helpful, and brings a great vibe to the place. I will definitely be back!

Thought I’d check this place out after the gym! The beer I ordered was Belgian Witbier and it was super delicious! The atmosphere was definitely a place where you would drink and just hang out.

GREAT place! Wonderful service and a fun atmosphere. We got there on a Saturday afternoon and tried just one beer. Great place to bring your kids and your pups. They had someone serving ice cream on the deck and next time we will definitely give it a try. Limited amount of seating outdoors. We sat at a large picnic table and another group joined us at the table. Was really fun to chat with them and enjoy the beer.
We will be having a lot of visitors in the next few months and will be back. Try the coffee beer!

After multiple brewery tours this summer, we got really weighed down with heavy Ales, IPAs & Porters. This is the only place I gave 5-​stars based on their craft; most others were gastro-​breweries with good food & okay brew. Others pushed their product and what to enjoy vs. allowing our senses and experience rule the day.
We taste a pint at a time. And enjoyed many here. This place stood out as we were there for over 3 hours; most other places 3 – 4 pints and out in under 45 minutes. We had a table outside with a good view of the bridge so it was really enjoyable.
I only had 5 varieties, and doubled & tripled up on their Stargazer IPA & Golden Stout; which was a refreshing change from the previous 13 breweries we enjoyed.
The owners and staff and friendly, attentive, and truly helpful. No food service (other than pretzels), but there was a food truck outside for at least 2 hours the last time we went. Looking forward to the next visit and their future creations.

Great beer and great people!
After moving from the little garage behind 7 – 11, these folks finally got their rooftop! They have a great open patio to hang out with friends, kids, dogs, and whomever else you might bring along. The beers are all outstanding and keep rotating so we can always try something new. The Golden Stout was one of the most delicious, interesting, and innovative beers I’ve ever had!

Love Rooftop! We have been a few times since they reopened. We particularly like the Stargazer IPA and the Simcoe Singe Hop IPA – very tasty without being too bitter. The deck is so nice and relaxing.
As a side note, we don’t have kids or dogs but it’s nice to have such a great spot to meet up with friends who do.
We’ll be back!

I live in north Queen Anne on Nickerson. It’s a trek to go up the hill or cross the Ballard bridge to get a proper drink. Rooftop Brewing Company is a cozy, neighborhood hangout nestled in an industrial area just south of the Ballard bridge.
I had the Stargazer IPA and really enjoyed the beer. The atmosphere was laid back, some cyclists had stopped on their commute home along the South Ship Canal Trail. Dogs laid on the patio as their owners talked under the lights. My boyfriend and I stood and enjoyed the sunset over the canal and sipped our beers.
While a great summer hang out, I’m interested to see what happens to the patio during the winter, when rain will be more common. The seating is pretty scarce inside.
Overall, a perfect addition to the area, I will be frequenting this place after my bike rides!

Nice brewery! This side of the Ballard bridge needed a brewery. I liked their brewery space a lot. The brewery was small inside but they had a large outdoor space that is perfect on a nice day. I had the coffee blonde. At the first taste I thought it was more on the hoppy side, however it’s just the coffee flavor coming through. After a couple more sips the hop taste goes away and I have to say I really enjoyed this beer. I tried a taste of the wit which was really delicious as well. I would stop by here again.

I went here yesterday. Friendly staff, has two ADA bathrooms and a great outdoor rooftop beer garden. Plans for the winter include a partial covering with heat lamp. A few tables inside and some bar stools. The outside walk up window keeps the main area from getting too, crowded. Clever!
Bike racks and some dedicated parking spaces but there is lots of parking across the street or down the hill.
The beers were pretty good. The pale ale was more potent than the IPA but things can change batch to batch.
The ESB on nitro was quite good and they also had a braggot. Wasn’t a fan of the wit but I’m definitely pickier than most when it comes to that style. Cooffee beers were good!
It’s certainly worth a stop and I am certain to come back. Cheers

5 stars for facility — 2 stars for beer — 2 stars for atmosphere.
Love the outdoor rooftop area and the whole set-​up. The beer was disappointing. Great sounding options but ended up reminding me of home brew beer. ESB still smelled and tasted like wort (wrong yeast or not enough time in barrel)
pale ale was flat.
I will say this was very early and they said they were dialing things in so we will give it another try.
I am not going to debate the «bring your 2 year old to the brewery» phenomenon that is sweeping Frelard (you are one of 2 kinds of people in this world) but this place is one that becomes a ‘mommy and me’ meet up on the weekend. That either appeals to you or not.
Maybe give it until September to get the beer right and stick to weekday happy hours.

Rooftop brewing is open again at a new location on West Nickerson St next to the Ballard Bridge in the Ballard/​Interbay industrial area on the North side of Queen Anne. They have a real rooftop beer garden now and share a building with two coffee roasters so they have 4 coffee beers on tap opening weekend. They will be open Wednesday-​Sunday after opening weekend and open until 10pm Wednesday– Saturday: A much needed addition to this neighborhood on the South side of the Ballard bridge!
