Josh was friendly. Told me what to look out for on my next appointment. I got no complaints. Will be back here more often now. Having a loaner is huge!

This place is really great and the customer service is outstanding. I called at 12:15 pm on a Friday after realizing my BMW 128i was 4 months!!! past due for an oil change. Josh answered the phone and after talking to a tech, they were able to get my car in for service right away. And did I mention a FREE loaner so I could go back to work and pretend to work all the while worried about Betty (yes, I named my car Betty). Josh called me a little later, told me that I need a few other things fixed in addition to the oil change. Given that Betty is almost at 40k and my gas mileage has plummeted, none of these repairs surprised me. Even though I couldn’t compare prices with another shop, all the prices seemed reasonable and were probably less than I would have paid at the dealer (who couldn’t get my car in until late next week when I called). My car was ready for me to pick up at 5:00pm and they even washed it for me. I am one super happy customer for life now and am looking forward to a sunny weekend driving my convertible Betty.

If you have a Mini Cooper, take it to precision. Not only will they get your car in immediately and get it back to you in a blink of an eye, they will give you a rental car, plus do whatever they can to make sure you’re taken care of. They literally saved me. My car broke down after 3 different engines. I’ve spent almost 20,000 on repairs for it and I’ve only had the car for 3 years. I don’t exactly have the money to put back into my car and they made sure I left without a hole in my pocket. Thank you so much precision, I owe you! My parents and brother all drive BMWs and they will be taking them to u. Trust me, you will not regret taking your car to guys that know what they’re doing and genuinely care about their clients.

Thorough, knowledgeable and competitively priced… Don alone LOVES his MINIs and has been a mechanic for over 30 years. Josh is well-​spoken, informative and responsive, handling all details throughout the process. The work bay was very well organized and all around these guys have it all down. I wish I had cut the apron strings with the dealership long ago!

Took my car a Volvo S80 here because the Goodyear Tire Store told me I needed new struts. I had just bought four new tires and while changing the tires they noticed the front struts were shot. The car only has 30,000 miles and as I learned it would be very unusual for struts to wear out that quickly. Not too mention the car rode very nicely and I had not noticed anything that would indicate the struts needed replacing. I brought the car into Precision Motorworks for a second opinion. They told me it would be $ 110 for a diagnostic to tell me exactly what was wrong. They called me later that day and said they closely examined the struts and all the parts around them and said everything looked perfect. They then told me it only took them 30 minutes to determine this and charged me $ 60! The new struts that Goodyear wanted to put on my car were $ 700 plus dollars! Needless to say I found the guys at Precision to have INTEGRITY and treated me in an HONEST way. I will NEVER go back to Goodyear for anything ever and from now on will take my car to Precision Motorworks!!!

Many Thanks too all the staff at Precision Motorworks. They did a great job of keeping me informed and easing my concerns about my vehicle. They really went the extra mile to get my vehicle right. The loaner car made things super convenient and their shop rate was very reasonable. The best part in my opinion was how the service advisors kept me in the loop throughout the proscess. They explained everything thoroughly. So even though there were surprises I had total faith and confidence in them. Nobody else will ever wrench on my Beemer.

I wasn’t getting an acceptable level of customer service from my previous mechanic so I decided to give these guys a try: boy, what a breath of fresh air! Josh managed to be professional, thorough and friendly at the same time! My Mini Cooper had quite a few maintenance issues to address, but they did a great job of outlining what was needed and prioritizing them to fit my budget. There was one little cosmetic fix on the wheel arch that I had planned to do myself, but I noticed after I picked it up that they just went ahead and fixed it for free; no muss, no fuss!
Also, loaner cars! Mine was a bit beat up and didn’t have air conditioning, but you really can’t complain about free.
I’ll definitely be back, and if each visit is as good as this they have a customer for life!

I am relatively new to Seattle and hadn’t established a local, independent mechanic for our 2003 Volvo XC90. When my car starting making a really loud grinding noise, I took it to three other shops who all gave me different answers, none of which really added up. I was referred to Precision Motorworks through another independent shop who only works on older Volvos.
They were able to get me in as soon as I called, gave me a loaner car so I could get back to work, and inspected my car that afternoon. Turns out I needed a pretty major repair, a bevel gear replacement, which cost about $ 2800 + tax. I made a couple calls for quotes and the price was the same everywhere.
They were able to do the repair the very next day, gave me a loaner car in the meantime, and answered all of my random questions happily.
They ended up fixing a vacuum leak they noticed at no additional cost, and put a new gas cap on for free (mine was cracked). Irish, the Service Advisor (with a super cool name and pretty awesome southern accent to go with it) was probably the friendliest, most helpful person I’ve ever encountered in an auto shop. He spoke at my level, politely answered all of my questions, and most importantly, never treated me like most women in auto shops get treated (like they’re idiots).
All-​in-​all: Fair prices, excellent customer service, very speedy turnaround, courtesy loaner car (a super sweet old-​school Volvo which actually drives way better than my own car), and hopefully high-​quality work that lasts! As I drove off today, my car felt better than ever.
Should I ever need work done on our Volvo, I will absolutely head back to these guys.

I’ve been to Precision twice now since moving to Seattle and could not be happier. John and his team are very honest and trustworthy mechanics that really seem to love what they do (and you can see it in their work)!
Not only were they able to detect the issues with my 06 BMW that others couldn’t, but they provided realistic and fair prices that, in my opinion, are better than dealer prices. Their customer service goes above and beyond what I’ve experienced in the past, and they keep you up to date with their progress along the way. Plus, you can’t argue with a free loaner vehicle.
I will definitely be coming back here for any future services/​repairs. Thanks a ton guys!

Seems like customer service has gone down since John the owner (?) seems to not be working there as much.
I have had minor issues with work here, that have taken weeks to be resolved. The excuse I have heard is «I have to ask the owner and he’s not on the office that much».
So after hearing this excuse, I now take my BMW to another shop where the owner, and staff are competent to answer questions if they may arise.
Precision told me my car has «several oil leaks that are urgent to repair». I went and got two other opinions from Seattle area European car repair shops, and not one of them said there were any oil leaks that were of any concern. That’s when I was finally done dealing with Precision.
My new place does not offer loaner car services, but much more pleasant to deal with.

My wife and I have been going to Precision for four years to regularly maintain our 2000 VW Bettle.
Years ago when we first met their team we had a constant oil leak that no dealership/​shop could repair. Every time we went anywhere it was easily $ 600+ and no permanent fix. After one visit to their shop their team found the problem (gasket in the engine) and replaced it. We never again had a problem with the oil leak.
We have always appreciated their honest evaluations and timely repairs. Not only do they tell you a real price and stick to it but they also let you use a loaner car.
Our car is now on its final leg (189K+ miles). They actually encouraged me to stop getting work done because it would add no real value. Their team does not even specialize in VW but they have done a fantastic job taking care of our car and if we ever buy an Audi, BMW, and or Volvo we will be back for maintenance

I live in Alaska. Had car issues on road trip through Washington. Had to leave my car and get it towed to their shop. Not thrilled about leaving my car in another state. They serviced the next day. I asked them to freeway drive my car to find idle issue (only happens when warm). They asked if tech should bring home. I agreed. Problem was fixed. They even dropped off at barge to send back to AK. Not cheap, but the reality of owning an old bmw is nothing comes cheap. Grateful they saw me quick.
Overall:
1: quick service
2: excellent phone communication
3: reality based fixes
4: went above to return my car to me
They told me what had to be done. Nothing
more. Will use again in the future.

Update: shortly after I had my 60k tune up and a clean bill of health for my car my check engine light came on. I called Precision and they said to immediately bring it in. I did, and they gave me a loaner with no appointment. They kept my car for two days looking for the cause. They found a pinched air intake hose that occured when they were putting back stuff during my tune up. They replaced the hose and didn’t charge me ONE cent for the labor and parts. They couldve taken advantage of me 10 different ways, but didn’t. Customer for LIFE!

With 60% of their service hours dedicated to BMWs and 40% to Volvos, there is no time or intention on the part of these specialists to dirty their hands on any other car models… thank goodness. As a result the mechanics at PM have become highly adept at extending the life of their patients (a sick car may as well be referred to as a «patient»); they have assisted my Volvo S60 consistently over the years, which is now nearing 160,000 miles and still driving like it is new (just about).

Very happy with this shop.
Had an issue with my car, took it back, and they were beyond happy to take a look at it. Turned out to be a minor issue, yet very difficult to find, and they did an excellent job troubleshooting it.
Will definitely return!

I own a BMW, and have brought it in to this place 3 times so far: 1 was a routine oil change, the other was replacing all brakes, and the third was replacing the CAS module.
Let me first say this– their prices here are NOT any cheaper than dealers, although they claim they are. I blindly just brought my car here on all 3 occassions mentioned above without even inquiring with a dealer.
Let me give you an example. Their synthetic oil changes here go for $ 110. If they have to reset your BC system, it’s another $ 50. After tax, you are talking about $ 170 or so.
BMW of Tacoma (or Northwest BMW) will do all of the above for $ 79.99.
Brakes will cost you a few days of waiting for parts, and again, prices that are suspiciously close to or higher than a dealer’s price.
All that is fine, because they seem to do great work. I haven’t had an issue with any of the actual work they did on my car.
But the reason I am giving them two stars is this:
As another review alluded to, these people will take your car out for «joy rides».
I had John, the owner, call me at 3:30PM on the day I got my CAS module replaced. He told me that the work would not be done by end of day, and that they car would need to stay in the shop over night.
«Ok» I said.
That’s when he asked me for a favor that, in retrospect, is completely unprofessional and quite unbelievable.
He said that one of his mechanics had asked if he could take my car home to Woodinville for the night, and bring it back in the morning.
WHAT? Did I just hear that right? I told him no. And even made it a point to call back and say I was not comfortable with this. Whether or not this mechanic actually drove my car home to Woodinville that night or not, I will never know. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t.
But I no longer trust this place… and honestly, given that you can get certified technicians to work on your car at a dealership for the same price or lower, it really begs the question– why would you take your car here?

Understood that a test drive is needed on repairs. Furthermore, it is understood that sometimes, an «extended» test drive is also required. But is it normal practice for a shop to request that one of their mechanics take a customer car HOME, AFTER SHOP HOURS, to a city 20 MILES away?
Or rather, would it be more standard procedure to set aside some time the following day for a mechanic to take an «extended» 10 mile test drive, during business hours, while on the clock at the shop?
If the term «joy ride» has offended you, then I do apologize. But to label the request you made as standard procedure or simply a request for an «extended test drive» would be misleading and inaccurate.

I dropped in w/​o an appointment to get headlight bulbs replaced on my BMW. First time into Precision Motorworks for me. Relatively small job but it was completed in relatively short order, I appreciate that they were able to accommodated the job when I dropped in, and there were no surprises. I’ll give them a shot next time I need service.

As long as I own a Volvo, this is the only local shop I’ll take my V70R to. Went there because I suspected my AWD wasn’t working… happened to be right. The Volvo technician identified the problem and now since my review, AWD still works like a charm. This place won my business over Daisywagen because I couldn’t get scheduled in.
Even though the hourly rate I was charged came out to $ 125/​hr., the peace of mind and great customer service that you may experience makes you either is worth the money.
This is a great repair facility as they have loaner cars. Mind you, the loaner cars are at no additional cost to you and will get you from A to B no problem. So, don’t get upset if you’re in a 97′ 850 T5 sedan (actually, I love the pre-​Ford Volvos, so this was actually fun for me). And as other Unilocal reviewers have posted, the service writers talk to you without the high horse podium giving you feeling questioning if you rode the short bus there.
Great Volvo repair shop in Seattle. Give them your worst Volvo car problem and I’m certain you’ll get honest answers and solutions. Even though this place is located far for some people (I don’t live in Seattle, it’s truly worth the drive) plus, they don’t hassle you about returning their car for yours the moment it’s finished.
Recommendation:
Take a loaner car, bum a ride or walk to Whole Foods up the block, or run an errand or something, there really isn’t a waiting room unless you want to stand.

In a nutshell: excellent, helpful, cordial, timely service. FREE loaner cars! And my Audi has never run better. John is a great shop manager. So much more of a value than taking it to the d… stealer. I agree, they really do need a better website though.
Overall: 3.6 stars.

Here the honest scoop about this place. John really knows his cars and he treats his customers with respect. The costs are very good and he puts some reality into what should be considered to be done right away and what you can take your time on.
Frankly I if you have a German and Swedish car this is one of the only places in town I would recommend.
