Jim Hobbs opened Hobbs Hilltop Automotive and assembled a team to be part of a family that cared about supplying the community with honest and quality work that customer could depend on.

I started working here in about 1986. I have been thrilled to work for our customers has a technician and a manager.

My hobbies are cycling and swimming, I do both on a regular basis but never got up to a triathlon level.

The owner Jim Hobbs loves boating and cooking. If you need to know how or what to cook he is the man to ask.

One of the technicians Lorren builds and flies gas powered remote controlled airplanes. It takes a real talent to keep one them in the air.

The other technician also named Loren is a fishing guru. If there is a fish in the water he will find it even if it takes all day.

Overcharged! Charged for piddly things like washer fluid (I didn’t need nor ask for any, yet, they «topped me off?» I was charged because they reset my oil change indicator (which I could have pushed two buttons on my dash and have done that myself [some favor!]) They used «top quality synthetic oil» and didn’t bother to ask me what I have been using or prefer to use. I just moved to town and couldn’t change my oil due to lack of tools and a proper place to do it. I felt as if I was nickeled and dimed as if I were some ignorant jack-​a-​loon. Shop around…

Just got done getting my car «checked out» to get my rear taillight replaced. He couldn’t figure out that it wasn’t working even though I told him what was wrong. When I showed up i used my turn signals and then it was obvious. I took it to someone else down the street and they figured it out right away. Wow…

We take both our cars here, an old Toyota and a middle-​aged Subaru, and get honest service at a reasonable price. They always manage to fit in our car within a day or two, and call promptly to let me know what needs to be done. I especially appreciate their explanations of the work they did and their recommendations of what my car will need in the future. Having a reliable mechanic to keep our cars going is wonderful!

I’ve been going to Hobbs for years. When I first got my car (16 years ago) I took it to Hob’s for maintenance, and Jim Hobbs suggested that I should take it to a cheap place for ordinary oil changes and bring it to Hobbs when I was concerned about performance or operation. He saved me a lot of money. They are beyond honest, and when they do work — like brakes or transmission — they’re fast, thorough, and do quality work. I can’t say enough good things about these guys. They are the best.

I live just a few blocks from this place, but after having them service and repair my car a few times, I’d gladly drive miles to have them work on my car.

After mechanic nightmares that I’m sure we’ve all had, it’s such a relief to know that I can rely on Hobbs to do great work at a fair (not cheap) price.
Other places will do things cheaper, but if it isn’t done as well or they upsell you on things you don’t really need, then it’s really not a better deal.
The guys at Hobbs do good work, and they are up front and accurate with how they represent cost and timing. I’ve been taking my year 2000 vehicle there for nearly a decade, and I have them to thank for how well it’s still running.

This place has never let me down. They are trustworthy (after getting a second and third opinion, their estimate was still the lowest on two separate occasions) and do an excellent job. They are busy so it can be hard to get your car in at the last minute, but a good mechanic is hard to find and they are well worth it. About two years ago they correctly identified and repaired a problem created by another auto repair shop, saving me a considerable amount of money and possibly preventing a serious accident.

These guys have never let me down, even after 10 years and 3 different beater cars. They have committed the act of motor-​vehicle triage multiple times, bringing my iron chariots back from the dead. I also trust them not to fleece me, which I have heard can be a problem with mechanics (don’t get me started about Los Angeles). Good place. Don’t have enough experience with other mechanics to be that objective, but they’ve always been good to me.

I’ve always had excellent results at Hobb’s. We have them do the regular maintenance on our Honda Odyssey van. I don’t think they are the cheapest around but they are only a few blocks from the house and always do good work.
