Susan puts her vast knowledge and experience to work training dogs and puppies to be well-​mannered pets. Susan is a professional dog trainer and Licensed Veterinary Technician with more than 20 years of experience in the field.

Before starting Paws4training, Susan began her career at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, and then went on to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She has worked as a Surgical Technician at the Animal Surgical Clinic of Seattle, Green Lake Animal Hospital, and Eastlake Veterinary Hospital.

Susan’s dog training and veterinary technician experience has enhanced her passion for promoting the health and well being of animals. Her invaluable skills have helped over 1,000 dogs to become well-​trained pets that their owners are proud to live with. Susan continues her education by attending seminars and workshops presented by top trainers and behaviorists in the field such

We signed up for a puppy middle school class for our newly rescued 7 month old lab/​collie/​shepherd mix with Susan. Our puppy Juneau came to us with no training whatsoever, and after 6 weeks we have a puppy who can sit, down, stay, come, drop, leave it, and is constantly improving her loose leash walking skills.
Susan uses only positive reinforcement methods (which truly are the most effective for training) and is very patient in teaching us humans the best ways to teach and be good leaders for our dogs. All of the people and dogs in our class were friendly and made the whole experience a lot of fun.
We will definitely be returning for some beginning agility and k9 good citizen classes in the future!

I took my puppy Enzi for the kindergarten classes. This is my first puppy and he was more socially awkward that the other puppies in class. Perhaps its related to the fact that he was found on the streets in Tijuana. As hard as it was to have the puppy no one wanted their puppy to play with, Susan had great advice: Day camp and more puppy socialization with feedback. We signed up for day camp and also took him to a social hour (1 social hour is included in the puppy k package). I also exposed him to additional puppy social opportunities at another center (Puppyworks in Capitol Hill). 2 weeks later he was like a different puppy, even his classmates parents noticed.
After he graduated kindergarten class we were able to take him to dog parks. I was glad that we practiced «come» command often in class. Its so nice to have a dog that finds it exciting just to run to you. (My older lab has lost his excitement about this long ago, but with reinforcement we can get it back). Worth the investment!
Since I was at class her space has expanded.

After a lot of messy communication (and one bad Unilocal review), I connected with Susan and she offered me a free session for my yappy Schnauzer. She spent over an hour really trying to understand him and me and our needs. Rigo had a great time! I left with good tips to practice at home and confidence that Susan will be a great trainer to work with if I can just find the time!

We love Susan and her team. Our 9 week old puppy came home from a three day camp, sitting, down and come. We attended a 6 week puppy class, which has helped us continue to train our now 6 month old. We plan on continuing training hete.

Susan was extremely helpful when it came to helping our pup develop his behavior. We were in a small class with 4 dogs total and throughout the 6 week program she helped our puppies develop their skills (i.e. sit, down, wait, stay, leave it, release). Throughout the class, Susan was very knowledgable and always had answers for side questions. After finishing the class our dog is a much better walker, doesn’t jump as much, and has overall become a much more well behaved puppy. My favorite part is how much love she had for the pups! Our dog seriously loved her, and it was great to have a trainer who loved him back equally. We HIGHLY recommend Susan to help train your pup AND you :)

When we got our new 9-​week old puppy, we wanted to make sure he was well-​trained and well-​behaved. However, we both work… and we found out that, as a new puppy parent, there aren’t many good options for your pup during the day.
We signed up for an evening puppy training class with Susan from Paws4Training and it was wonderful. When we saw that she had a day camp, we thought we’d give it a try.
It was great to watch our dog, Cocoa, get personal attention, training, and socialization with a small group of well-​trained and socialized puppies. Susan and her staff would send us videos of the great progress Cocoa was making.
We ended up sending Cocoa to Susan’s camp week after week since it was so great!
Cocoa’s almost 6 months now and he is happy, well-​mannered and has a great foundation of training.
I would highly recommend sending your new pup to Susan’s day camp if you have the chance, especially if you have other obligations during the day.

Susan is great! We took our dog to 2 separate puppy classes and learned a lot! There were multiple times and days offered for classes which worked with our work schedules. She teaches in a relaxed environment and does not allow too many puppies in a class which helps with concentration. She was always willing to offer specific help with questions we had about our dog on an individual basis. We did notice a lot of repeat information attending two classes, but reiteration is important especially for puppies. Our pup is very well behaved and we owe a lot of it to Susan!

We had two puppies join our family at about the same time. We put both of them through puppy classes as Paws4Training. They are so much better behaved as a result. The classes were very convenient. And since one of us took one puppy and the other took the other puppy, we humans got a consistent training too. I ended up continuing classes with my female and she made great progress. We also did a private session with her, which was really really helpful in addressing a specific concern. I highly recommend Paws4Training for puppy classes. Susan is knowledgeable not only about dog (especially puppy) behavior but she also has a medical background and a keen eye toward health concerns as well.

Susan is a great trainer. I enrolled my puppy in her kindergarten classes. I’ve learned a wealth of knowledge from classes, and so has my dog. She teaches you things to to make the puppy process much easier. I look forward to the rest of the classes.

This was a great class for our 9 month Aussie/​Collie mix and she loved it. We also learned so much from Susan and she certainly loves what she does and the animals can tell. Rocket has graduated and will be going back for more classes as this was great. I would highly recommend Susan over any other type of training elsewhere.

After trying another local puppy school and not being big fans, I heard about Susan from another dog park pup-​parent and I’m so glad! The class is flexible, if you miss one Susan is happy to bring you up to speed the next time you come in but I say make the time to go! A 6 week cycle of one class per week and we were given so many awesome tools for communicating with our pup and keeping us on track for ongoing behavior training. Susan is super nice and insightful, answering any questions and addressing problems personally. I highly recommend her classes for whatever kind of dog you have.

Paws4training puppy kindergarten was an extremely effective training class. Having our first puppy, the class was better for us than for her. Everything covered in the class was meaningful and clearly explained. In general, Susan provides instruction on how to train your puppy so that the owner can apply training to pretty much anything else the owner wishes to train the dog to do. The atmosphere was always incredibly pleasant and puppy play time helped our puppy to learn the rules of making puppy friends. We highly recommend paws4training and plan to get enrolled in more classes soon. Do you and your new puppy a huge favor. Enroll in the paws4training puppy kindergarten. As long as you work outside of class on the skills, your puppy will benefit for sure. Also, another bonus is meeting many cute puppies and watching them develop through there cutest years! Paws4Training was awesome! Last thing, Susan is an incredible trainer and our puppy likes here more than she likes us. See you in class.

I definitely learned a lot with my new puppy in the puppy kindergarten classes, but my only suggestion would be to have a more structured schedule (they’re drop-​in classes). Often I went to a class and didn’t learn anything new, because the topics were already covered. Despite the drop in format, I missed a couple classes due to travel, thinking I was ok, but when I came to the next class I was advised that I was NOT to miss a class. Overall I do like Susan’s approach and I think she’s a great trainer (and my little pup definitely learned many valuable skills), I just think the classes need to be structured so you know what kind of class you’re walking into and what you’ll be learning that day.

We started our black lab puppy, Molly, in the Puppy Kindergarten class at around 8 weeks and she continued on into the Puppy Basics class after that. She’s now coming up on 6 months and is a very well behaved puppy thanks to Susan. We learned lots of great techniques in both of the classes and Molly absolutely loved playtime with the other pups. Early socialization with other dogs and people was such a huge benefit to making Molly the lovely puppy she is today. Friendly, outgoing, cuddly and sweet. The only suggestion I might make is to have a more structured syllabus for the classes so that you have a clear idea of what you’ll learn in class and something to refer back to when you’re doing training work at home. I’m sure we’ll sign up for more classes in the future.

Paws4Training was recommended to us by our vet at Maple Lead Pet Corner. As a first time puppy owner, we picked up on very good tricks and strategies for properly raising our little fella, rooney. We took puppy socialization and later puppy basic 1 and were very pleased with the results. Susan is great with dogs and the small class sizes lead to lots of personal attention. Two thumbs up!!!

When I got my puppy — I was clueless. As a first time dog owner — I needed lots of guidance and support. My vet recommended Paws 4 Training and Susan Oshie. She was fantastic! My puppy, Lucy, went through her puppy socialization classes as well as basic obedience. I don’t know what I would have done without them. Susan was so kind and loving with Lucy… and gave me all the tools I needed to feel more comfortable with my dog and the training process. Lucy did great in the classes thanks to Susan’s guidance. And most of all — I felt that Susan was available both in class and out to answer my many questions about the struggles with puppyhood. I would highly recommend Susan Oshie and Paws 4 Training!

Susan Oshie was recommended by our vet to help with our puppy’s barking while on walks. We scheduled an in-​home visit, and worked with Susan to create a plan to help our dog become less reactive.
When the new plan started working, we enrolled our puppy in Susan’s reactive dog class. The class size was small, which gave us a chance to share the happy (and difficult) training experiences we had each week with other reactive dog owners.
By the end of the 6 week class, our puppy went from a dog that barked at other dogs from blocks away to a dog that remains focused on us when only 10 feet away from another dog.
Our puppy still has a little ways to go, but I couldn’t believe how much progress she made in such a short time. Susan is a great listener, and really cares about the dogs and their owners in her class. You should give her a call!

Paws4Training has been a great experience for me and my dog Maggie. We’ve taken 3 courses now and each one has been a great experience. We just finished up the agility training course. Maggie had a blast and learned a few more techniques that will help me and her have a better relationship. I started her early with the puppy basics class and I’m so glad I did! She’s incredibly socialized and gets along with all dogs, big or small. She plays well and follows my commands. It’s been a great experience and I definitely recommend to others that they get their puppies socialized & trained through Susan’s classes.

Susan Oshie was recommended to me by my neighbor who also was the part inspiration to get a dog. (hypoallergenic? yes, hello!!)
I have to travel for work so I havent had a chance to take one of her classes, instead I signed my dog and myself for a private lesson. She comes to your house and then goes over the things I needed to fix (it’s really me, not my dog).
Come, sit, stay — all basics but it’s good to know you’re doing it right. She also went over things like — why does my dog like to be so mouthy, how come he eats gross things like gum on the sidewalk and what tricks I should do to keep him from jumping.
She’s not exactly the dog whisperer but is sure close to it! (ceasar is wicked crazy and I swear he’s made a pact with the devil to get those animals to obey)
