North Pacific Property Management

Being new to the Seattle area (and Pacific Northwest in general) I feel very lucky to have found NPP and have had an enjoyable experience renting from them the last 6 months! I am currently a tenant of a condo that NPP manages. I have a great working relationship with our property manager, Jenna, who has been super responsive and keeps open lines of communication. Jenna even answered texts (very early in the morning, I might add) while on vacation/​flying home in order to make sure an emergency maintenance request was being taken care of. There are certain things that are out of NPP/Jenna’s control, such as general building maintenance and issues, however I make her aware of my concerns and she goes above and beyond to pass along my message. It’s nice to know she takes a genuine concern to ensure my happiness as a tenant and make me feel like my voice is being heard. Thank you for such an enjoyable renting experience, Jenna!

Ashley is an absolute professional and a delight to work with. From the first time we met her, her personality and demeanor were totally infectious and a welcome change from other property managers we had worked with at other companies in various cities. She is readily available for any issues that might pop up and always follows through on outstanding issues. We consider ourselves lucky to have worked with Ashley as tenants. I would highly recommend Ashley to friends and family any day of the week. If you get the chance to work with Ashley, consider yourself lucky… you are in good hands!

Anita is a Godsend! She helped me secure an amazing apartment and was patient and understanding when I could only provide an employment letter as I had just moved from out of state and didn’t have any recent pay stubs. She is super responsive whenever there’s an issue with the apartment and even came out to meet me on a Sunday so I could move in. I’m so grateful and lucky to have someone who is on top of things and gets the job done. Thanks, Anita, for making things easier during a tough time for me.

I intent to leave a review here in the most factual way possible.
Rented a house that is shared with a roommate. I found this house/​company through the existing roommate who had lived there for many years. Here are the facts:
— Upon moving in, I was asked to pay $ 900 security deposit. Becca F. entered that money in combination with my roommate who paid less $ amount. Becca did not made a note that I contributed $ 900, until I asked her.
— There was no walk through of house condition from landlord. Blinds were dirty and dusty. I had to clean when moving in.
— Upon moving out (in my case, I had to break a lease), Property Manager, Jenna refused to refund the security deposit. She admit that «security deposit will not be taken out as long as there are tenants there.» She admit that there is no paperwork trail of how much my roommate and I had contributed, but in our contract we had upper/​downstair written with our names.
— I had to get my security deposit back from the next kind tenant that is moving in.
— Jenna refused to contribute in any details of moving in and out, no walkthrough, cleanliness check, etc etc.
— Jenna arranged a roof cleaner without communicating the date to us. It would be nice to know when our house will be visited by strange men.
— During my stay, I had not met with the landlord personally.
— The company is typically responsive on repairs and maintenance.
Conclusion: Document everything. This company will push their action on things that are not documented: security deposit amount, house condition. Overall, be ready to be defensive and protective of your rights, since their current paperwork don’t justify that.

Darla M., the Director of Operation called me this morning about the review. She was professional, systematic and accurate. She apologized on behalf of the company and agreed with me that there was disorganization in a way the security deposit was handled. She listened to all of my concerns and made plans on how to improve the situation. I learned that Jenna was new to the industry and needed more oversight from her. The owner of the company Josh F. (whom I’ve never met), had expressed his dissatisfaction about this review to the current tenants in that house. Darla and I agreed that any negotiation/​concern towards this review should be directed to me, and not the current tenant of the house. Especially since Darla is the Director of Operation that handled day-​to-​day operation.
UPDATE (01/​29/​2016)
I was not surprised to find an email from Darla to ask me to remove Jenna’s name from the review due to a client loss. Her email confirms all my views about the company. Instead of driving conflict resolution, Darla tried to relieved Jenna’s responsibility by mentioning excuses that Darla had apologized for earlier. Professionally, I feel bad for Jenna who hadn’t been set up for success, but it doesn’t justify how she had neglected me multiple times during my stay. Personally, I’m only sorry to not see this Unilocal page before renting at NPP. The company is more reactive than proactive.
Additionally, the company had violated section RCW.59.18.260 of landlord tenant laws. I was never provided with a checklist.

Worst property management company I have ever dealt with. Not only was my property manager Anita rude she was also very very slow in helping with basic tasks. She got overwhelmed easily and then took it out on her customers to the point she had to have her manager Darla deal with her work. She was very unprofessional with how she dealt with her tenants from ignoring calls to writing very aggressive emails. Please reconsider before settling with NPP so you don’t have to go through what I did.

NPP started off strong as a small company, then grew into a nightmare. After repeated problems with my property manager I requested being assigned a new PM, and the owner refused, stating she was the best. She took unprofessionalism to a whole new level, and sadly he followed suit. The whole mess cost me a good deal of time and money, and life is too short to deal with unpleasant people. The owner did not act responsibly to look out for his client. Also I caught several bookeeping errors that had to be adjusted and that makes me wary of the ones I didn’t catch. Not good.

Darla has been the best property manager! We are tenants of a town home that NPP manages. We had a very frustrating experience when we first moved in with a property manager who was seemingly absent and unavailable once we signed the lease… that is until NPP hired Darla. She is wonderful and quick to take action on our behalf. She has helped to quickly resolve any and all issues, maintenance and otherwise. She is friendly, outgoing and easy to work with. We were feeling we had made a mistake renting from NPP at the beginning, until Darla saved the day and redeemed our faith in the company. We plan to stay her as long as we can! Thank you Darla!

Awful experience with this company. I connected with one of the brokers, set up a time to see the apartment, showed up the day of, and was left waiting for nearly 45 minutes before deciding to leave. I contacted the broker by phone and email and never heard back. Maybe I was just unlucky but I’m happy I avoided this company given my experience.

NPP and Ashley Johnson have been perfect. Ashley is always on top of any issue that comes up with my tenants, she lets me know exactly whats is going on and resolves issues promptly to both my satisfaction and that of the tenant. I interviewed four different companies and agents and I could not have picked better. Thank you Ashley for your positive attitude and diligent work!

I’ve been very happy with North Pacific Property Management. Ashley is meticulous and thorough and helped make everything easy through a quick move. Whenever I’ve had a question it’s been answered promptly, and I appreciate the effort they put in to keep you informed but actually take care of what has to be done.

I’ve been satisfied with working with NPPM. My wife and I live in one of the duplexes they manage and recently decided to to extend our lease to two years after living in the space for ~4 months.
The only request we made to have a broken door fixed was addressed promptly.
Email responses are always fairly quick.

I may be biased from so many poor past experiences, but thus far NPP has been truly superb to work with. Direct credit to Ashley Johnson who bent over backwards to meet the pace of our move and make sure the transition was seamless. Communication has been prompt and personable, response to issues addressed immediately and beyond our satisfaction (anecdote below). We are only 2 months into our relationship with NPP, but my girlfriend and I could not be happier with the experience thus far. A breath of fresh air!
We had an interesting moment during our move in: the unit had been vacant for some time and only recently been transferred to NPP to put on the market. They found us and got us in quickly (to our great pleasure), and one of the first nights we had to run the dishwasher. Load it up, turn it on… and we couldn’t believe the racket! We thought it was going to fall apart or explode or both. Then we notice the water leaking all over the hardwood floors and scramble to get things shut down and cleaned up quickly. We shoot an email to Ashley and she responds almost immediately. Within a week, the unit has been inspected and subsequently not only replaced but replaced with a better unit than the original!
Couldn’t be happier thus far with NPP in general and Ashley in particular, and we’ll be happily recommending them to our friends and colleagues.

North Pacific has been so helpful and quick to respond to every question/​need/​request. They are very thorough with every task. I am glad to be working with them with the new place I am renting. Ashley Johnson especially has been such a please and help with everything from showing, renting and service requests.

NPPM has been managing our home in Madison Valley since July 2014, and I couldn’t be happier, especially now that we live out of state. When interviewing five PM representatives, I knew I found the right person to take care of our home when I met Sarah Spring Everett – she’s smart, caring, professional, asked the right questions, and works efficiently and effectively.
The other staff members have also been very helpful and pleasant to deal with, from the handyman to office admin to the accounting department. Easy to contact and problems fixed quickly. So far I am very happy with choosing NPPM and highly recommend them!

Read before you lease with this agency or use them to manage your property:
I am currently renting a home in Bothell for the past 2.5 years as a single mom. I have never once missed or been late making my rent payments plus I took care of the home as if it were mine. I heard that NPP are changing how things are done and so they brought in all of these new people. These new agents don’t care who you are or what kind of tenant you have been. It’s solely based on their commission of our monthly leasing rates and their signing bonus. I was contacted by Marilyn a few days ago that she is my new leasing agent and wanted to do a walk-​through of my place. She mentioned that she was very pleased with how well I’ve taken care of the place. I thought the walk-​thru went awesome until 2 days later she sends me an email stating that my rent is going up $ 400 a month and that I can choose to sign a 1 year lease with that increase or I will be sent a VACATE notice to move in 20 days (i’m month-​to-​month now).
I’ve been loyal for 2.5 years and get a sticker shock of a $ 400 increase and then am told to sign or leave in 20 days? How can a company be okay with treating their loyal clients like this? I am shocked and sick to my stomach that I have to figure out a place to go by the end of this month with my child. How can they live with themselves.
Very Greedy Agency — Property Owners should think twice about using North Pacific Property Management to take care of their rentals — their new slimy practices will no doubt result in high-​turnover of tenants and a high vacancy rate.

We had a rental property over in Phinney Ridge and absolutely loved it and the landlords. It was a very relaxed environment with online payments for rent/​utilites. They were also very attentive – anything we needed they were there. We would 100% rent through NPPM again.

Searching for a rental in Seattle is exhausting and extremely competitive yet once we found our house, NPP has made it a dream from there. Unbelievable service from the start. Our account manager, Becca Fraiman, was able to ask all my questions before moving in, was extremely organized with the paperwork and setting up utility accounts, and promptly scheduled repairs for those that we needed. She also did a great job coordinating with the owner when we wanted to repaint the walls, which was a huge bonus. She is a really warm and friendly person who wants to be sure we’re happy in our new place.
I also love that we can pay rent and put in maintenance requests online.

Im really surprised to read some of these reviews before writing mine. But I’m sure everyone has a different experience. We were tenants of North Pacific for 2 years and ours was great!
Joshua was always friendly, professional, and easy to get along with. No matter the time of day, or day of week, He was always quick to respond to emails and calls anytime we needed him. I do believe he always had the best interest of the owner and tenant at heart. I absolutely recommend working and renting with them.

Well, it was a bit of a rough start with this company. Communication was poor throughout, which would be a 1 star review if that.
Buuuut, a few months ago it seems like they completely overhauled their management. They said they had a few bad apples that weren’t doing their jobs, they canned them and now we have Darla, who is kickin butt! She responds to her calls and emails almost immediately, and gets shit done. She is on top of it and I couldn’t be happier.

This is a update to my previous reviews on the North Pacific Property Management.
A few weeks after my last 1-​star review on North Pacific (NP), their account manager who handled my case called me wanted to know why I was unsatisfied with their service. However, the static noise in her cellphone was really loud and I couldn’t hear her clearly. Then the phone just dropped. And when she called again, I got no voice at her side. I expected an email from her but I haven’t got any. Well, I already have all my comments here so I figured they can always read it here.
Then last week, the owner of NP, Joshua called me again asking about the 1-​star review. I had good experience with Joshua 7 yrs ago when we started using NP, and he’s very polite on the phone so I told him in detail why I gave NP only 1 star, which is pretty much the detailed version of my online review here… delayed reply from account manager, dodging and avoiding answering my questions about annual property inspection… He apologized and admitted that he lost track of feedback from customers.
Considering Joshua’s professional attitude about customer’s feedback, I update the review to 3 stars. Meanwhile, I really wish they will improve on how their account manager treat the customers.
