Multi-M Contracting

We hired Mark Schoenfeld /​Multi-​M to completely remodel our 2 bed /​1 bath home to a larger 3 bed /​2 bath home with a detached garage.
The first architects we went to came up with drawings we were unhappy with and the cost estimates from contractors were way over budget. We talked to Mark as one of the contractors who referred us to another architect. I took the base drawings already completed to save some money and had this new guy do new drawings. They were much better. It only took one more meeting and a couple of minor changes to get something we were happy with.
Mark acted as the primary contractor with his employees doing some of the work and other work being subcontracted out with Mark overseeing and coordinating it.
Estimates were all met and change orders given a price *before* work was started. There were *no* surprise charges. Mark always gave us plenty of notice of timelines where our decisions had to be made so work could done on schedule.
The work that was done has all been very good quality and any issues that arose, whether existing previously but unseen, or work that needed correction, was all been handled satisfactorily and professionally.
Our overall experience with Multi-​M was excellent. We would hire Multi-​M again without hesitation.
There were delays in the project, but I do not blame Mark for them. He did a good job of keeping things moving with all the different things that needed to be done in the proper sequence. A couple of examples; we opted to wait an extra week or more for an electrician whose bid was significantly lower than another one who could have started right away. Another was a delay caused when the insulation contractors missed an area that made Mark have to reschedule the city inspector to a later date (inspection required before the drywall can be installed). Still another was the painting contractor losing an employee when our work was scheduled to be done. Honestly we expected a few delays and had told Mark we want the work done right rather than rushing just to get it done. Because the work being done was extensive, trying to coordinate between everyone is not something I think I could even do. Mark has been very valuable with those skills. So yes there were delays, but not the kind that are inexcusable at least.
I am not a good reference for cleaning up after themselves because that is one thing I told Mark I could do though they did all the heavy stuff. Sometimes workers did not do enough cleaning up when they were supposed to but Mark would make them come back and do it. They were also very nice about taking other things I wanted to get rid of with the rest of the construction waste. I would have rather done a lot of the detail clean up than pay someone else to do it. If you want to pay the extra labor for that, I am sure Mark would take care of it. Anytime I asked Mark about cleaning up issues, he always handled it to my satisfaction.
The best thing about Mark Schoenfeld is I never felt like I had to watch my back with him. His honesty and integrity are impeccable as far as I am concerned. The employees and contractors he uses have all been hardworking and never made me feel uncomfortable about their character.
I highly recommend Mark Schoenfeld and Multi-​M Contracting. Mark turned our old 1942 built 2 bedroom /​1 bath house with lots of maintenance issues into a effectively new 3 bedroom /​2 bath house with a new detached alley garage for what I think was a very fair price and all the work done up to code with all of the required permits.
We are loving it and the quality of the work still shows in that we have had no major issues for two years now.
