I called these folks from Pittsburgh when i couldn’t get my machine that i ‘adopted’ from my aging parents would not work. Henry walked me thru what should be happening and stayed on the phone with me until the machine WORKED! These guys are the BEST! Henry said they fix over 2000 espresso units a year, half of which are sent in to them! Thankfully, i did not have to do that! He helped me over the phone! YAY and KUDOS to Henry and the rest of the crew there! You sure saved me alot of time, effort, money and energy!

These guys are amazing! Fixed our Delonghi and when I was having trouble with it when I received it back, Henry was on the phone with me and very patiently walked me through fixing the problem. We originally sent our machine somewhere near us in NYC but they said it was «un-​fixable.» But these guys fixed it very quickly and at a great price.

I’m reviewing this business even though they’ve never earned a dime from me. I had a problem with my DeLonghi Magnifica super-​automatic espresso machine, and Henry from this company worked with me via e-​mail to assess my situation. He helped me determine that repair would most likely be a waste of time and money, and he pointed me to a replacement machine from Amazon, so his company didn’t make any money from me. This kind of service is becoming more rare every year, so Espresso Repair Experts has earned a five-​star review from me. Thanks, Henry!

These folks used to have a small shop up north on Roosevelt, in the Wedgwood district of Seattle. I have a gleaming chrome ECM Giotto that we’ve used to pull an average of 8 to10 shots a day for a decade, and when it gave up the ghost, two or three years ago, I took the Giotto and the companion Pasquini Moka grinder in for nose to tail repair and renewal. Thurston quickly diagnosed the problem with the Giotto and within two days, my espresso machine and grinder looked perfectly clean and shiny and worked just as they did when brand new. The price was fair and I was extremely gratified to find a small shop doing such good work for a such a fair price in this day and age.
Alas, when it came time for another repair a day or so ago, I contacted E.R.E. again at their new Georgetown location. The word came back that they no longer work on «prosumer» manual and semiautomatic machines like mine, or at least they do not keep parts on hand and cannot do the work without a long wait for special order parts (mine probably needs a new pump and/​or boiler element, from what I can tell). The reason? Like the five/​six speed stick shift, real espresso machines have pretty much gone the way of the dodo, and E.R.E. had to go with the flow. Seems they mostly work on those superautomatic home machines now, or so Henry advised me.
I’m sure they still do great work and would highly recommend them if you have one of those push-​a-​button-​and-​cappuccino-​spits-​out things. Sad to say, if you have — dare I say it – a real espresso machine, it seems you have to look elsewhere.
If I could still go to E.R.E. for my repair work, I would definitely give them five stars PLUS. I was really, really happy with their work. Alas, I gotta dock a star since it seems they have given up on the few remaining die hards and fanatics who insist on pulling their own shots with high-​end ‘prosumer’ manual or semi-​automatic machines.

I live all the way across the country in Austin, Texas, but I came upon these guys via some desperate google searching after my (fairly expensive) DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-​Automatic Espresso/​Coffee Machine stopped working. When your coffee machine stops working, it’s full-​on crisis mode. A first world problem, sure, but a crisis nevertheless.
I noticed that these guys offer a whole shipping/​repair system for sending in the machine and getting it back, and it seemed like they had a lot of expertise with this particular machine.
I sent in details via email about the problem I was having, with a photo of the jammed piece inside the machine. I got some instructions back on what I could possibly do to fix it. Let me just say that I was skeptical that anything could fix it. It seemed pretty bleak, my problem. We had essentially resigned ourselves to needing to buy a new machine… or paying hundreds of dollars to fix this one. Either way, we were out a bunch of money. We had already removed the back panel and otherwise spent a long time trying to tinker with the machine in various ways to fix it, to no avail. So, really, I wasn’t eager to try anything else. I was kind of «over it,» to be honest, after a lot of frustration. I just wanted to put it in the hands of experts and let them do their thing.
Anyway, I tried what Henry of Espresso Repair Experts suggested, and sure enough, it worked right away. And I am currently drinking a proper espresso for the first time in more than a week.
These guys could have had me send the machine across the country and pay a bunch of money to repair the problem, but they took the time to help me fix my problem, free of charge. I really respect that. So you should totally use these guys if you have a problem that can’t be fixed via email/​phone instructions. They’re obviously good people, and they clearly care about their customers and doing the right thing. If and when my machine ever does bonk in a way that can’t be fixed via phone/​email instructions, I will definitely ship my precious espresso machine to them for fixing/​refurbishment. They’ve earned a five-​star review from me, but more than that– and this sounds hokey, but whatever– they’ve also reminded me the world is a pretty decent place. It’s great knowing that there are small businesses out there that take pride in their craft and commit themselves to doing the right thing with integrity.

I needed to get my espresso grinder repaired, and these guys were the only ones I trusted based on a prior experience with them. They are the best and were able to speculate the fix when I brought it in and talked to them. They are reasonable and fast, delivering with a friendly attitude. Highly recommend them!

We sent our malfunctioning Delonghi machine here all the way from Las Vegas after not feeling confident about the closer repair options. The EasyShip Kit couldn’t have made the process simpler and the communication regarding the problem was excellent. Will not hesitate to use again!

These guys are AWESOME! They got my baby working again! I have a DeLonghi super-​automatic machine that’s approximately 8 years old. It got to the point that the steamer no longer worked. I did a little research on espresso machine repairs and then called around to a few local shops and did not get a feeling of confidence in their abilities. I decided it may be time to ship it for repairs… after speaking to Thurston at ERE, I felt confident that it was the right thing to pack my machine and pay the shipping charges to have it fixed. The experts at ERE called a week later with their diagnosis and recommended steps to correct, along with an estimated fee. I agreed to move forward and a week later, was making my wonderfully delicious lattes at home once again. As a matter of fact, the machine is now working better than it has in years. As others have said, taking the time to send the machine to Seattle has saved me a boat load of money by not having to buy a new machine. If you are in a need of a repair for your espresso machine, I highly recommend ERE… They’re the best!

Truly glad to see they are still in business (and always good to check Unilocal for new locations). The guys have kept our beloved and overworked machine and burr grinder going strong, give great customer service, and charge truly reasonable rates. Without slamming the other shops, this is the only place to go.

It is TRUE! not only true but the machine is actually operating better than new. The look of the froth, the taste of the grind is amazing. This actually saved me $ 3000.00 yes three thousand dollars on buying a replacement for this machine. It took a week and it’s been back a week and I am soooooo happy. I love my coffee can you tell. My experience was similar to the other reviews. I was considering replacing my machine, but after talking to them on the phone I decided to take a chance and have it repaired. They sounded like they were more concerned with fixing the machine than making money. I shipped it from Orange County CA, they called me and discussed the repair and gave me an estimate when they received the machine and then they called me again to ask a few questions regarding the functionality of the machine, just to make sure they fixed everything. In about a week the machine was back home making coffee better than ever. I’d forgotten how good the machine was, since it had gradually deteriorated. I’m glad I decided to have it repaired, I hate throwing things out.

Shipped my Delonghi machine to Espresso Repair Experts and in less than a week it arrived home. Much better than buying a new machine, plus it works better than it ever has. Thank you for being there !!!

These guys are awesome. Took my machine here after another place totally botched it (can’t name the place because they removed my previous review somehow). They guys at Espresso Repair Experts fixed it on the spot, ordered the piece the other piece broke off and installed it later for free when it came in. They know their stuff. Don’t bother shopping around. They are non nonsense, smart and good guys.

First off, people in Seattle are crazy about coffee. Even though I am not originally from Seattle, I pride myself on being one of those crazy coffee people. I love coffee. Especially when it is done right. Sometimes that can only be achieved at home.
Now that I have that out of the way… I have a really old Saeco espresso machine that has been sitting in storage. I could not throw it away because of the history we had together. This was the best machine ever. I could pull espresso shots that rivaled the best coffee shops in Seattle. I was so proud of this machine. A few years back I gave up on it because all of a sudden it stopped working. I decided to buy a new fancy thing that was really expensive and makes just average coffee. I have lived with the average coffee that comes out of a $ 1000 dollar machine for too long. I now find myself buying coffee every morning rather than using my fancy contraption. I really loved my Saeco and miss it. I am tired of paying for coffee so I decided to find a technician to look at my old espresso machine. I took my machine to the guys at Espresso Repair Experts. Josh and Thurston were awesome! I told them my problem and they gave me an estimate. I decided to take a detour rather than go home and went shopping at Northgate Mall. Two hours later I got a call from the guys saying my machine was fixed! I could not believe it. I swung by on the way home to pick up my machine. The guys told me all my machine needed was a tune-​up. They opened up the machine and cleaned out the boiler or lines or something like that. I could not believe it. I was so mad at myself. My machine has been sitting in a closet for years when I could have just taken it to Espresso Repair Experts and had it fixed. Stupid me for buying the $ 1000 dollar machine. My Saeco espresso machine works like new! The best part of my experience with Espresso Repair Experts, the estimate matched the final cost of the repair. If you have an espresso machine that needs some help, take it to Espresso Repair Experts. You won’t be disappointed.

These guys are awesome! My wife was convinced we needed to replace our machine, especially after the first repair shop said it would take weeks to get it back. ERE had it fixed in a matter pf hours and charged me less than $ 100.00! And I think it works better than it ever has.

Ok, Seriously, Thurston is like the espresso machine whisperer. We have an older machine that has some serious sentimental and historical value to us (It used to be owned by Gary Larson, the Far Side cartoonist and we are huge fans). It had some mechanical problems that Visions said they could not fix, another local shop looked at it and said it was dead and could not be revived. I was told that not only was the brain (motherboard) dead but that there were other problems that needed attention as well.
So after some exhaustive research on the best espresso tech in Seattle, the name that kept coming up was Thurston (who at the time worked for another shop and had finally opened up his own shop). We took the machine to him and he never even hinted that it couldn’t be fixed. In fact I think he was relishing the idea of how he could fix the problems. Yes, the brain was dead and was no longer available but he didn’t care. Yes other components needed some work but he didn’t care about that either. Thurston is the Honey Badger of espresso techs.
End result? He fixed the machine. He created a controller that replaced the functions of the old brain, he rewired some components so they worked BETTER than before. Now we have a fully functioning machine that works better than when we took it to him.
He has evened offered tune ups for it as needed. His skill and expertise are far beyond any of the techs I have come across to date and his bedside manner is impeccable. There is only one espresso repair tech in Seattle as far as I am concerned.
