Fixed while I waited! I brought my Kitchen Aid stand mixer to this shop after it started wobbling so badly that I couldn’t use it. Even after a botched home repair job made the wobble worse, these guys were able to do a quick repair in just minutes. The price was much less than I expected. Plus, the shop has a wide assortment of small appliances and Kitchen Aid parts and accessories. I highly recommend this shop and will bring my mixer back if/​when it needs repairs!

I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer that I’ve had for years and it finally stripped its drive gears, so I searched for small appliance repair in Seattle, found Ajax Electric and after reading the other reviews decided to give em a shot. I dropped my mixer off on a Friday and the very next Monday I got a call saying it was all fixed and ready to go. They did an awesome job and the cost was quite reasonable too. I will definitely be a repeat customer, and recommend them to anyone in need of a small appliance repair shop.

I took my broken Kitchen Aid mixer to Ajax, and got back a purring machine less than a week later. They found and fixed stuff I didn’t even know was wrong, and the price was less than I expected. The staff was polite and professional. I would definitely recommend them.

I brought my Waring Blender in and they fixed it right on the spot; super friendly guys.

I had a Kitchen Aide blender that needed repair. I took it in. It was fixed in minutes. Gotta love the service. Love those old time repair shops. Enough flashy high priced high tech shops.

I brought my burnt out KitchenAid stand mixer in to Ajax two weeks ago. They said they’d call me in a few days and give me an estimate and that their repairs were running «about a week out.» After having read the reviews here, I didn’t expect much of anything in terms of service. But after waiting two weeks for a call, I finally broke and called them. They hadn’t even looked at it yet. I really dislike these folks and if I had ANY other option for repairing a KitchenAid in Seattle, I’d totally do it. But I don’t, and I hate that. Old school is right.

My stand mixer broke down just in time for the holidays. I was heartbroken. Not wanting to risk fixing it ourselves my boyfriend called Kitchen-​aid and they led us to Ajax.
I was a little nervous because of all of the negative reviews, but I didn’t have much in the way of choices. My boyfriend was quoted 2 days to repair over the phone. When we got to the shop the woman at the counter told us a week. My boyfriend told her about the earlier quote and she said they would do what they could to get it done quicker. Well less than 24 hours later we got an e-​mail saying it was ready to go!
The cost seemed a bit high, half of it being a flat labor fee, but at the same time I don’t know how it would compare to other places.
All in all they did a fantastic job of getting me back up and running for holiday baking. My only real complaint is the hours. They’re 9 – 5, Monday through Friday. Which means that my boyfriend had to leave work early for drop off and pick up. If they could have some Saturday service, or at least stay open a little later it would be a big help for other 9−5ers.

Don’t risk taking your equipment here for repairs if you are counting on it for your business. First of all, they quoted me one week for the repair of a commercial waffle iron, it took them five. I couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone there as to what was going on with the repair. Then they rushed the repair, did a half ass job, the waffle machine is again broken and going to Action Electric tomorrow. I can’t even risk taking it back to them to have them fix the poor work that they did the first time. Wish someone would come along and fill this niche for local businesses and restaurants and put these guys out to pasture. The worst experience I have ever had with any service or repair business.

Used them years ago to repair a Broan trash compactor and just used them again for a newer Broan trash compactor (different house). They are old school — nothing fancy, cost effective and very good at repairs — I love them.

If you’re Unilocaling for small electric repair, you’ve probably realized by now that the pickings are slim: it’s basically a matter of going with the least of a few evils. Ajax is NOT the least. I would never patronize this place again…
I dropped my Kitchenaid mixer off was told it’d be ready in about a week and they’d call if it’d be over $ 100 to repair. Sounds good, right? 2 weeks pass and I hadn’t heard from them so I give them a call. They hadn’t looked at it yet and it ‘might’ be ready next week but he wasn’t sure… and just plain rude. (Thanksgiving prep is gonna be ugly without my beloved Kitchenaid.) So I did what I should have done 3 weeks ago: picked up my Kitchenaid from Ajax, paid that nasty 520 toll and dropped it off in Action Appliance. (BTW Action’s diagnostic fee is $ 20 less than Ajax and the folks were actually friendly.) Bah-​bye Ajax, hello Action.

This is an old school repair shop… a local treasure.
The technicians have worked there for years and are experts in small appliance repairs and are low key friendly like the pros that used to work in Ballard.
I have used them for years for mixer and bath fan repairs and appreciate the cost and quality of their repairs. This is an honest shop, and if you can leave your impatient attitude behind and treat the professionals with the patience and respect they deserve they will revive your old war horse mixer or save you from ripping out your bath fan because it needs a new motor.
If you are impatient, chuck your stuff in the dump and run to Macys for a truly satisfying and expensive feel good experience.

I brought in my 25 year old Kitchen Aid mixer for repairs. I was going to try to fix it myself following the directions on ehow. I ordered the part, received it and when I attempted to take the machine apart, I got really scared. So I brought it to Ajax. I wasn’t completely sure I had the right part, but I brought that in too. He told me it would take about 2 weeks and they may have to order parts, and would call if repairs were over $ 100.00. They called in about a week, told me it was fixed, and when I went to pick it up, it was a lot less than I thought it would be. They just charged me for labor and grease, they did not charge for any parts.
Yes, it’s a throwback, but some of us find that a good thing. They are honest, keep their word, and I would definitely use them for any appliance repairs in the future. I recommend Ajax.

While Ajax is a throw back to another time in some respects, they do fill an important need in the community. I have had several small electrical appliances fixed that that I otherwise would have thrown away. That’s a valuable service. Everything I have taken them is still working, and while you may pay a bit for that and it may take a while, it’s worth it in the long run. They are taciturn and all business when you go in, but they get the job done.

Worst customer service Ive ever had. Dropped my mixer off, which is a big part of our restaurant kitchen, got a call and a quote the next day and I said yes sounds fine please order parts. Called to get an update on the repair today, 9 days later, and was told they are waiting to hear back from me to see its ok to order parts! Unbelievable, parts are 8 – 10 days out. I’ve been borrowing mixers from my restaurant peers on a daily basis now have to continue to do so for another 2 weeks. This is not the first fumble I’ve had with these guys, i would drive as far as Everett or Olympia but they literally have the market cornered on small appliance repair. The shop is small, dusty and pretty outdated and with experiences like this Its only a matter of time before the doors shut on this place. Someone will replace these guys in the near future.

This place is operating on a schedule from a bygone era. I brought them my mixer to repair which I use daily in a professional capacity while I was slated to be away for two weeks. The dinosaur behind the counter said their policy was to call if the repair was over a certain amount, but since I was going to be out of the country I asked if they could email instead. She said no (of course not, what’s email?) so I said go ahead and repair without giving me the estimate. The most important thing is that the work is completed upon my return. She didn’t write anything down so I asked her to make a note of that on the work order. She told me she’d remember when they started the repair.
Fast forward two weeks and 4 days: I return from my trip and phone Ajax. «Oh, um, the tech is working on it now– we’ll call you tomorrow.» True to their word (on one thing, at least) they call tomorrow, which is today. All they phoned to give me was the estimate to fix the mixer. And to inform me that they’d need to order parts. With zero indication as to how long the repair will take. Meanwhile I’m mixerless and unable to do my job. So awesome.
They have a bit of a monopoly on small appliance repair in Seattle, it seems, so customer service needn’t be a strong suit.
In contrast, I took my knives to Epicurean Edge (the only choice in the Seattle area, btw, cheaper places will seriously eff up your knives) to be sharpened while I was away. They completed the sharpening by day 2 and sent a professional email with the details of my order straightaway.
In this cutthroat world of fierce competition in the brick-​and-​mortar small business sector, I value excellent customer service above all. I will always support a local establishment if that basic tenet of professionalism is met.

We use Ajax Electric to refurbish the built in kitchen fans in our 1920’s apartment building. They are the only people in town that I’ve been able to find that know how to refurbish these kinds of fans.

I had my Zojirushi hot water dispense fixed here. They did a great job and it works great. Very courteous and completed on time. It was a little more than I had expected to pay ($ 50), but it is working perfectly after seven months. I figure this is better than buying a new one.

At last… friendly, competent Seattle-​area help for sick KitchenAids!
Not long ago, my K-​Aid Pro 6 started wobbling and coughing a bit, so I looked on Unilocal and proceeded to read all the horror stories about Action Small Appliance. Yeah — not gonna give them my business. Turns out Ajax is also a licensed K-​Aid repair place, so I gave them a call. They were friendly, informative, and there was no drama at all. I dropped off my machine, and was given lovely customer service.
And just under a week later (none of this two-weeks-to-«diagnose”-it crap), I got a call from Christine, the front desk person. She told me what was going on, and gave me several options… just as nice as could be.
I don’t know how their prices stack up with the Other Guys’…judging from the reviews I read, why would I want to find out?
