Replaced my heating element on my Samsung Dryer a year ago and now it’s burnt out again. Charged me $ 400 and now I can’t get them on the phone. Unacceptable.

I would give them zero stars if I could.
Mike came out last month to fix our dishwasher. Last week the problem came back and now we have a leak in our basement. I called him and he directed me to their main line (which is under a different business name) to get something scheduled. I’ve left numerous messages and even called Mike again. He told me that it sometimes takes a few days for a call back.
The problem is worse and no one is returning my call. Don’t waste your money!

Yes, they’re running a completely amateur operation. Really really shocking service, folks. Please don’t use.
They promised to fix my fridge, came to diagnose for 10 minutes, charged $ 360 for labor and parts, came 10 days later to put parts without calling in advance for arrival window. The problem was not fixed, the fridge still leaking inside and no hear no reply from them since then. I tried to call and left msg many times. I would demand a full refund and start over with a better certified company! And more honest.

Called them in the morning, and John arrived in the afternoon. He removed and replaced a hood microwave for me. He arrived on time, was extremely polite and professional, and quickly completed the job. He protected the kitchen with thick blankets, and cleaned up the place Mary Poppins clean when he was finished. The entire experience as fabulous. I’ll never use Sear’s again. Price was much less than Sears, too. These guys rock!

I did not get the opportunity to use there service but I am disappointed that they have false advertising and feel they need to change it. They should not advertise same day services if they do not actually have same day service.
I can not make judgement on their actual work of course as we needed same day service.

I had an issue with my dryer and dishwasher. The service technician was prompt and explained the problems in detail. I was very comfortable with them in my home and the price quoted to repair was fair. There was a little delay on a part that had to be ordered, but I was informed of the status and scheduled as soon as it came in. I would recommend them to my friends. Thank you.

Our Viking microwave stopped working. This happened before and I knew it was simply a broken switch. I looked up the part online on Viking’s website and could find a set of 2 replacement switches and a fuse for $ 11. The previous repair company had charged us $ 20.
Since we wanted to have it fixed as soon as possible, we decided to call Jimmy Z’s since they could come out the next day.
The next day, the serviceman took the cover off and after checking, confirmed that it was the switch and proceeded to tell us that it was a $ 78 dollar part and the total was going to be $ 280 + tax.
After the shock of such a high price, we agreed since we needed to it to work. However, after he replaced the part, the oven still didn’t work.
Then he claimed it was because the motor was burned out. When I asked how he came to that conclusion, he claimed that it is very common to happen in tandem with the switch. Since it was now going to cost more than a whole new microwave, we just paid him for the «consulting» fee. ($ 90)
When he left, I notice that he had reassembled the oven with SECURITY TORX screws so a special tool was needed to reopen it.
Luckily I had one in an electronics repair set. I reopened the microwave and saw that he didn’t reconnect some wires correctly. Everything worked fine once I fixed that.
So not only did they try to overcharge us for a common part and fail to fix the problem, they also tried to make if difficult for someone else to do a repair.

Our fridge decided to «retire» after 15 years. We splurged and decided to make a new purchase on all of our appliances. Our purchase was made through Sears. Sears has two delivery teams. One that can do basic installation for electric ranges and fridge and they hire a third party for complex installs (dishwasher/​Microwave hood). The Sears basic installation team was a nightmare. Unprofessional and caused damage to our home and new fridge. The third party contractor they use called us and stated it would be 3 – 4 weeks to install our new dishwasher/​microwave. I would never use Sears again and choose to seek my ow contractor.
Now on to a positive note… I called many installation locations throughout the Seattle area. Thank goodness I found Jimmy Z Appliance Services. Jimmy had his team come out and install our appliances. Michael and Paul were outstanding. They explained the appliances to us, cleaned the appliances and left us with a sparkling beautiful kitchen! They also looked at the fridge, which Sears had to replace due to damage, and provided recommendations. Did I mention that they were also significantly cheaper than a Sears installation? I would have paid double for the service received today. I feel like I’m robbing Jimmy Z. What a great experience! Michael, Paul and Jimmy, I demand perfection when I am paying for a service. You knocked my socks off! Thank you for turning an awful experience in to a delightful experience.

Jimmy Z dispatched two technicians to my house almost immediately and got to work right away. They totally made sure that my appliance was fixed correctly and I was happy. They did very thorough work but also didn’t waste time with the repair. Great technicians who were completely professional but friendly. An excellent service company that I’d highly recommend. The refrigerator is back in business and running well. Very happy with them!

We had really good luck with Jimmy Z Appliance Services. Our dishwasher was literally spraying water from the bottom. Our insurance company called a repair service to assess the issue and a very knowledgable professional from Jimmy Z arrived our home within a day. The office staff was very clear in communicating scheduling, calling before with a reminder for the appointment and the repairman also called when he was on his way.
He spent time figuring out the issue and also explained the issue very clearly. I really appreciated him taking the time to explain the issue since I clearly knew nothing about it. Just as explained, they ordered the part and were back within a few days to install the part.
I would recommend them to friends and appreciated all of the communication and professionalism of Jimmy Z. We will use them in the future for any appliance issues or installs.

I’ve now used Mike from Jimmy Zs three times… twice for our aging household appliances and once for a refrigerator repair for a rental house. Each time he arrived the day after I called, identified the problem and promptly took care of it. Most impressive for us, he located a Gaggenau grill, though they are no longer making them, and installed it correctly, something Appliance Service Station never managed despite several repair calls for our old grill. After 30 frustrating years of looking for an appliance repair company I can count on, I feel like I’ve finally found one.

Don’t bother.
We called out for a serviceman to repair our dryer. He recommended that, rather than fixing it, we can buy a refurbished one from them for about the same price. It took him about 5 minutes to make this recommendation, for $ 90. The serviceman told us the store is open 9 to 5 Saturday. I call up their store on Saturday to make sure and tell them we’ll be over there before they closed (which the receptionist tells me is 2pm not 5pm). We arrived around noon, and they’ve closed the store for the day. A total waste of our time. Plus, they just lost $ 300 on the purchase we would almost certainly have made. Losers.
They’re running a completely amateur operation. Don’t bother.

We thought we would have to buy a new side by side refrigerator for six to nine thousand dollars. Several repair shops wouldn’t even touch it. These are not easy systems to work on. John from Jimmy Z to the rescue! He not only recharged the system, but found a bad sensor and replaced it at the at no additional charge (no pun intended). John kept us informed every step of the way — when the parts were ordered, when they would arrive, and he came over after work hours to finish the job because we were living out of an ice chest. Wow, does John ever know what he’s doing! He knew exactly what to do and without hesitation fixed it. He had all the tools and supplies on hand. I usually do not post comments when I’m happy — just the opposite. However, I am so happy, relieved and impressed that I just had to find a place to say good things about Jimmy Z Appliance.

All my major appliances are about the same age because I installed everything new with a remodel a number of years ago. Well, its just time that things are starting to go wonky.
I did my research and found that Jimmy Z’s is the only major repair service that applies the diagnostic fee to the repair fee if their technician performs the work. I decided to give them a try. After the first call, I contacted them again for subsequent needs because I felt I received good service.
So, in the past number of months, I have called Jimmy Z’s for 3 separate repairs. My GE Monogram refrigerator, a Viking range, and now my Miele washer. Each time, I received courteous and prompt service. Sometimes, a part needed to be ordered, but I was notified and scheduled in short order as soon a the part arrived.
Its important to note that the technician in each case correctly diagnosed the problem upon the first visit. This is not always easy, given the limitations of testing further than the first major problem encountered when a needed part is concerned. However, the investigation was always as thorough as possible. And once the part installed, Jimmy Z’s always tested and investigated further.
When I did have questions about a repair, Jimmy Z’s satisfied my inquires with cheerful help. What more can a customer expect?
After the latest repair on my washer, I joked with Travis (the tech) that I will probably be calling soon on my Bosch dishwasher since that is the only other appliance that has not been repaired this year. Hearing that, Travis kindly showed me some maintenance tasks I could do to keep the machine in good working order. Maybe I will not need to call…
I, too, noticed that jimmy Z’s has various web portals (with various names) to capture customers searching for services. I actually think that is good business in an internet age, and is not an area of concern for me.
I also think it reasonable that a service-​person not take responsibility for reassembling a machine he/​she did not personally disassemble. If you want to do some investigation on your own, it probably makes sense to just put things back together before calling for professional help. My opinion.
Jimmy Z’s is pretty good with their scheduling, but sometimes jobs in the lineup before you can run longer than expected. They always called me before they were late, and then they called to let me know when the service person was on the way. It worked well.
All in all, I would call Jimmy Z’s again.

Be prepared not only for the bait and switch (i.e. call one company, have another company come out), but also be prepared for unbeliveably rude operators. They seem to have eliminated any sense of customer service from their business model.

Shocking. Absolutely shocking.
Our washing machine just up and broke. Mr. LB called an entirely different place, West Seattle Appliance Repair,
and was told that for $ 85 a repairman would come out and estimate how much it would cost to fix our machine and deduct the estimate from the repair cost.
A surly guy named Dave came by from some place called Jimmy Z, spent about 30 seconds in the laundry room and announced our machine was irreparably damaged. Cost for his visit: $ 85.
We naturally balked, «but you didn’t make an estimate, you just pronounced the machine dead,» we said. «Not to worry, you can the $ 85 from a new/​used washer over at Jimmy Z,» said Dave.
REALLY?
No thanks.
Total time spent in Dave’s company, including fleecing: 3 minutes. Damn! I want to earn $ 28.33 a minute. Maybe I should look into shady appliance repair.

UNBELIEVABLY BAD BAIT AND SWITCH!
First, they operate under many different names. In our case, it was «Mr. Appliance» (they also use the name «Seattle Appliance» and there could be more) but the invoice for $ 90 we have in our hands and had to pay for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING says «Jimmy Z» on it.
Shoddy right there. But it gets worse.
The guy that came over almost wrecked his van into our cars and was doing doughnuts (literally) in the culdesac because he couldn’t drive in the light snow. Then he blocks the neighbor’s driveway and we had to ask him to move his car.
Next, he tried to come into the house without any shoe coverings, trying to drag mud all over our carpet. We had to stop him and he frustratingly ran out to his car to get the coverings.
Then he brutally took our dryer cover off, only to tell us without really looking at it that it was a contact switch and that the part is probably not available anymore and if it was it would be $ 190 and that we might as well buy a used (90 day warranty only) dryer from them (which seems to be their real business, sell used dryers to people, remove the old one as a «courtesy», fix the old one and resell IT to some other sucker).
We asked at least what the model number of the «new» dryer would be, and he called in and I overheard the guy being very rude and then giving model numbers out that DO NOT EXIST (yes, I can Google with the best of them!)
Then, $ 90 later he is out the door with a promise that he will e-​mail us a picture of the dryer they want to sell us. I am not holding my breath, and I also think I’d rather dry my clothes outside on a line, in the rain, instead of dealing with these obviously DISHONEST people ever again.
I have one thing more to say to you, dear Unilocaler, if you are reading this: if you still decide to use this company or any of their spin-​offs (Mr. Appliance, etc.), then you need to have your head examined.
This company, frankly, is ethically reprehensible. I cannot believe that they get away with this.
So here we sit, broken dryer, $ 90 lighter in the wallet, wondering what to do.
We have literally just been robbed of $ 90!
UPDATE: A day later, more travesty:
They promised to call to discuss dryer replacement. NO call. We called demanding the service guy come back and put our dryer back together at least. He refused, saying «it’s broken, anyway». Called the main office and tried to explain all of this to the girl on the phone. She said she would have «George» call us back. He never did.
And that e-​mail? It never arrived.
These people are quite dishonest.
I think it is time to go to the Better Business Bureau. My complaint would be the eighth one against them according to the BBB web site.

Fraud. We called them to repair a dryer that wasn’t working, were told we needed an expensive new control panel. Weeks later when they showed up to install the panel it turned out they never intended to replace the board — instead they waved a part from a cooking stove in front of us and said that was the «new» part. No returned calls from their office. We gave them a few weeks to respond– maybe bad employees, etc. But nothing. Just plain fraud.

To start this review, let me clarify that Seattle Appliance turned out to be Jimmy Z’s. When they called, that’s the name that showed up on the caller ID (the number associated with this listing is what’s on my caller ID). If you take a look at the other Jimmy Z’s reviews, then read the experience below, you’ll understand why I’m only giving them 2 stars.
The only reason it isn’t 1 star is that my fridge now works. My fridge had been out since February (didn’t really need it, but had a hankering for some ice, so…) and I decided to contact a local repair company for service. Because of the good reviews, I contacted Seattle Appliance. After a couple of missed calls, we finally connected and set up the first appointment. I made it clear that I had to leave the house to catch a bus at 11:03. Since they claimed to open at 6am, I figure it’s enough time for the guy to stop by and check everything out. Well, he arrives at 10:20, makes a diagnosis in three minutes, then tells me it’s a two hour fix. I tell him he will have to come back. So we reschedule for the following afternoon. The window of time was from 1pm to 5pm. By 4:15, there was no one at my house. So I rescheduled again for the following day, patiently offering a window between 11am and 5pm. Fortunately, he showed up at 11:30.
When the repair guy did arrive, he was pissy with me because I have enough skill to actually work a screw driver and check things out before calling a repair person (don’t worry, I didn’t break anything). Then, as he is repairing my fridge, he is fielding calls from the home office. His attitude with them was snippy, condescending, and terse. He admitted to my while fixing my fridge that he was lying to them — he did have the parts available and it wasn’t his responsibility to run around wasting his parts. I’m baffled — isn’t he their friggin’ repair guy? When they charge for parts and labor, does he actually use any parts?
So he finishes up in about an hour, then tells me the bill is $ 38 more than what he quoted (a total of $ 438). It’s not feeling right, so I ask him for a break down of the costs. His numbers are vague (both in arithmetic and legibility), and the sales tax doesn’t add up. And he talked nonstop after finishing for nearly half an hour (which explains why it takes three attempts to get him to show up within the window allotted). The office finally called and told him to get to the next appointment.
Note that also on his first visit, he said that the warranty was 5 years on the parts and labor. On his second visit (with the repair complete), he said it was 3 years. Hmmm…
*** Almost forgot: The icing on the cake was that he refused to re-​connect the water line. He said that since he didn’t disconnect it, he shouldn’t have to reconnect it. WTH? He didn’t disconnect the power, either, but… and for $ 438…
I’m feeling pissed that I did not get a detailed repair estimate and warranty info in writing before hiring this guy. He tried to get me to give him my credit card number before he came back for the repair (on his second visit), but I refused to hand over any financial info until the repairs were complete.
I did finally receive a credit card receipt from the company (I was not about to give them my checking account number). I have called the company three times since the repair was completed on 7÷3÷10 to get a detailed breakdown of the charges and a copy of the warranty. The last call was today. They could not find my repair information or name in their computers and promised to investigate and get back to my by the end of the day on 8÷16÷10. So far, I haven’t heard a thing, which is consistent with their customer service so far.
I would recommend that if you need a repair of an appliance (mine was a newer model Kenmore fridge), call Sears and ask that they do not send John (in case he subs with them too). It was a horrible experience and I regret not following my spidey sense and kicking him out before he could whip out his tool box.

He just had a dryer go out, we called Jimmy Z because they were less than a block away. The repairman came out the same day and spent 5 minutes diagnosing the problem, then told us it would cost $ 255 in parts and labor. He explained that because it was a stackable dryer it was hard to get apart and would take about an hour and half. We told him we probably wouldn’t do it, but the next day we decided to go ahead with it.
The same guy came out but this time brought a helper, and it only took them 25 minutes for the whole job. I thought «wow I’m going to save some money on labor» yeah… well, I was still charged the full amount and when I questioned it they said that it was driving time included… um yeah they are less than a block away from my house.
So, they did a decent job and it got fixed quickly but I have to say that I’m pretty disappointed in paying an hour and a half labor for 30 minutes worth of work.
