Bocz Salon

Had a hair cut and it looked like nothing changed. Made me go out outside with damp hair. Just dont understand how this acceptable. Ending up seeing another hair stylist at a different salon and he ended fixing my hair. The person got lazy and did not want to thin out my hair because I have so much of it. What you end up paying is not worth it. I can go to a salon in California and pay less and get a better haircut with someone who knows what they are actually doing.

First time at Bocz. Had my hair cut by Karen Howard — I think it might very well be the best haircut I ever got. Definitely going back.

Awesome blowout, even though it’s called an «airwave» here. Nice long shampoo, excellent products and great conversation. Andrea did an excellent job transforming my split ends and greasy roots into a full, healthy (sexy)-looking head of hair.

I have been seeing Andrea for over a year now and I won’t go to anyone else in Seattle! She is always a delight to hang around with, she listens to what I want and my hair always looks fantastic when I leave. So glad I found her! I recommend her to all of my friends and coworkers.

As always, I found Bocz Salon on Unilocal.Their website is great because they have a «meet the staff» link and you can learn about each stylist and their specialty. I have fine, wavy hair and bangs and I was looking for someone who could work with both, which can be challenging. I called the salon for a recommendation and made an appointment with Nanealani, who is pretty much the best. Without even having to say anything on my first visit, she was already talking through how she could cut my hair to give it more volume and wave without it looking layered. She also cuts a great bang… they start out the tiniest bit short and a week later are the most perfect bangs. It’s actually really difficult to find someone who can cut bangs just right, so I highly recommend Nanealani on that skill alone. I’ve been thinking of taking my hair shorter for months to make it look fuller and she has gradually cut off almost 5 inches in the last few appointments. My long hair is my security blanket and she totally understood (having beautiful long hair herself) and only cut off the length when she felt I was ready. I recently got balayage with her and it turned out so natural… I might be ready to take it blonder on my next visit since I know she will do an amazing job. Nanealani also has such a great, bubbly personality and is so kind and patient. As for the salon itself, the front desk staff is always very nice and the space is easy to find. If you are looking for a new stylist, I can’t recommend Nanealani enough!

I am visiting from out of town but my usual hair girl at home did a poor job of a balayage so I desperately needed my hair fixed. After asking local friends where to go I was advised to visit Bocz. I got a balayage in half the time and a million times better! Luckily I visit Seattle often so I will be back in the future.

I have very short hair, and I need a good, affordable stylist since I need a trim every 4 weeks. A coworker of mine had short hair and it always looked fantastic, so I asked her where she goes. She referred me to Jay at Bocz Salon. I have been nothing but pleased since he has taken over my hair care. He has been cutting hair for decades and you can tell he is an expert, but his rates are very reasonable. As for the salon itself, it is clean, feels upscale, and the staff are above-​and-​beyond courteous. A great experience every time.

Wandered in to this salon based on Unilocal reviews and haven’t gone anywhere else since! Danielle is amazing and is always a pleasure to see — super knowledgable and professional. The staff is wonderful, and I feel totally spoiled whenever I’m there!

I was in town for a wedding and wanted my hair styled. It was easy to make an appointment. Tania was suggested to me and she was fabulous! She understood from pictures what I wanted and she delivered. Tania is friendly and great at her job. Thank you for making me look spectacular!

I went to see Kince based on Unilocal reviews. I was exited to receive exceptional service.
Unfortunately he wasn’t good at all. First he called me to arrive later because he was running late but I was already on my way. I have long hair and needed a haircut. Since he was running late, he convinced me that it’s better to cut my hair without washing it. So I didn’t get a shampoo and he cut my hair dry. The haircut was bad. He didn’t give me the new haircut feeling by not washing and cutting my hair properly. It was a bad first impression and I won’t be back.

All I can say is wow. Juan is magical. I cannot express how grateful I am to him for what he was able to do for my hair.
I’m new to the neighborhood and started the hunt for a salon pretty much right after I got settled in. I originally found a place in another area, but the stylist completely undid a years worth of effort in one sitting.
She ignored my request for SUBTLE layers and gave me these crazy, choppy, almost shelf-​like blocks of layers that were just… awful. Then to add to the trauma, she screwed up my dye job, so I was left with patches of untouched hair on the side of my head. Not to mention she was ROUGH. I heard an endless stream of snapping hairs as she worked on me. :(It was one for the books.
After realizing what had been done to my hair, I decided to find someone who could hopefully remedy the situation. I called this salon and it just happened that Juan had a same day opening. This man saved my hair. He blended the layers back in, and created a really seamless finish. My hair feels light, without being too thinned out, and everything looks like it belongs again! I could cry because I am so happy! Juan gave me my confidence back. Seriously, if you want a great cut and style, go to him. He knows what he is doing.

Kince was really great. Shopped around on Unilocal for a while after a few bad haircuts and saw his great reviews and decided to give it a shot — really glad that I did! He took time to listen to what I wanted and to fix the mistakes made by other hair salons — «too many cooks in the kitchen» as he put it. Really happy with the results — highly recommend him.

I came to Bocz after being sort of burned by another local salon (that salon will remain nameless; let’s just say I scheduled with them several days in advance, only to have them call me the morning of my appointment day to tell me that the slot they had originally given me was not long enough for both the services I needed, so I had to choose one service instead. Instead of being bullied into getting my hair halfway done, I canceled. That is just bad business.)
Jale squeezed me in at Bocz, which was a relief after being treated as a disposable customer by the other salon. She is something of a bleach and tone specialist, which is exactly what I needed. We had a great time chit chatting and it was one of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. My hair turned out perfectly, and I’m so pleased. I will be going back. Jale is fantastic and Bocz as a whole was super nice. :)

I live about 1,000 miles away from Seattle, but I stop in to see Kince every time I’m in town. He’s more than worth the trip.
Kince is very attentive, and makes sure that you are getting exactly what you want out of every cut/​color. However, if you’re one of those people who lets their stylist take the reins a little, then his creativity and expertise really shines through. I have never walked out with a haircut and color that was less than incredible, and he always manages to exceed my expectations. Not to mention, his cuts and colors look great for a long time — I’ve gone months between appointments and it still looks just as good as the day I left the salon!
I haven’t worked with anyone else at Bocz, but the other staff members I have talked to have always been friendly and professional. I can’t recommend this place enough!

This salon is a classic busy yet trying-​to-​be trendy salon upstairs from an optical store downtown in Seattle. There are a ton of stylists here. My haircuts are good, no funny business. I get a pretty basic bob, but a lot of people can screw that up. My hair stylist is way younger than me, so she is always trying to get me to add more highlights, which my hair has a ton of now. One wears a robe to avoid messing up one’s regular clothes, which is nice when I come from work but it is still hot and bulky to wear a robe plus a drape.
The front desk staff is the typical distant staff type at edgy urban upscale salons; I’m sure after a year of getting my hair done there they still have no idea who I am. This isn’t a salon where you will go in and people will remember you and know you; it is trying very hard to be modern and upscale. It has water and tea that sometimes someone will offer you, mostly not. The front staff are hit and miss with who will actually make huge efforts to make you feel welcome.
There isn’t anything that makes this salon stand out, nor do the staff go out of their way to make it stand out, which is fine if you don’t want your socks knocked off. It does its business of ushering people in and out like a factory super well, and keeps its floors clean. My only real complaint is that there are dressing rooms, robes, tea and water, but they can’t figure out a way to put a bathroom in the place? Traipsing out into the hall to the communal business bathroom with foils in one’s hair can be a pain. I shouldn’t drink so much tea…

Wonderful place– Super high quality; you get a robe to wear for your appointment– refreshments available. Very friendly and professional staff. I’ve paid the same amount for haircuts at other salons that are no where near the quality and caliber of Bocz. I’ve been to 3 salons before Bocz and I’m finally happy with this salon. My stylist was Danielle who’s a huge sweetheart and listened to everything I said– I’m so happy with my cut that I will definitely be returning to see Danielle again. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ I’d recommend this place to anyone I know. Best salon I’ve been to in Seattle for the year I’ve been here.

I had some pretty long hair and I just felt like chopping it all off and starting fresh! Since I was making such a drastic length change I wanted to make sure it would be done right. So I set off on Unilocal to see what I could find. Bocz had 129 reviews (now 130!) and practically all 5 stars. «Hmmm, intriguing» I thought and set to make an appointment.
I got set up with Kince who went above and beyond my expectations. The impression that I got was that he really cared about my hair, my feelings, and that he would do a great job. I told him I wanted it short, but was a bit hesitant about it too because it’s been a while since I’d gone short. Kince made sure I was comfortable as he snipped off my locks and gave me great advice about my hair. Not only that, but he was a great conversationalist which made me feel really comfortable. I’ve had haircuts where I’ve sat there silently for an hour staring into the mirror/​avoiding eye contact in the mirror with my stylist. I felt like I had a friend that I trusted cutting my hair.

I was visiting Seattle for a few months and desperately needed someone to take care of my hair.
Of course, I was afraid to go somewhere I had never been before. Thank the gods for Unilocal!
Firstly, if you have naturally wavy or curly hair, you MUST go to Tania. Hands-​down, no questions asked. She is AMAZING.
In all my life she is the ONLY person who has ever taught me how to actually work with my hair — which products to use to encourage the curl, how to blow dry it properly, and how and where to put finishing touch curls in to make it all look finished.
Not only is Tania talented, but she is ADORABLE. OMG. Her hair will make you want to swoon. Clearly she walks her talk. I saw the pics of her on the Bocz website and they don’t do her hair justice at all! And she’s super cute, fun, and energetic. I promise you will love her. :)
Since I was brand new to the salon and didn’t know anyone, I wanted the color done by one of their master colorists. And Mark is clearly the shizzle. He was friendly and the consummate professional. He knew EXACTLY which color, highlight, and gloss to use on me so when I was all done and looked in the mirror, I felt totally at peace and at home in my own hair — for the first time in a long time.
Tania and Mark were an amazing team. As soon as Mark was done with my color, Tania came to pick me up and bring me over to her chair. It was seamless. You can’t go wrong with either of them.
The salon is very pretty with good music and a relaxed vibe.
By the way, the front desk team was CRAZY GOOD. Super professional and sooooo friendly, which I wasn’t expecting in such a hoity-​toity salon.

I really like this place. Came here with purple hair and Andrea was the best at doing a dramatic change. The receptionist scheduled a consultation first because my hair is a special case and saw Andrea. She was great. She took in what I wanted to do to my hair (go back to being brown) and which way was the best way to achieve this look. She did a test strand to see if the purple would lift and it did but unfortunately the rest of my hair which was dyed a reddish purple did not so we made an appointment for a balayage, tone and hair cut.
Did my hair cut first and she did a great job ($ 50) and the next day I came in for the balayage and tone ($ 150 plus $ 35 for product, I have a lot of hair). She had to go through and bleach out each part of the purple (she did a great job finding all the purple pieces) and pulled the color up a little further to my roots but looks very natural. Then she toned it a caramel color and I love it. Will come back in 6 – 8 weeks so I can get more color put in and hopefully achieve a uniformed color (unfortunately the reddish purple dyed hair will need to grow out first).

Had an amazing men’s haircut with Danielle! I was really happy with the whole experience I had recently getting a haircut at Bocz. If you haven’t been before, prepare to be pampered. They give you a salon robe to wear while you get your haircut, which is a little new for me, but really convenient as I’m usually wearing a dress shirt. The whole staff seems friendly to guests as well as each other and you can tell it’s a friendly work environment. I was most impressed with the attention that Danielle put into giving me a great haircut. She could help me bridge the gap between what I could communicate about my hair that I wanted to do and what she thought would be good. In the end, she put a lot of effort into my haircut and finishing touches. I can honestly say that it is one of the best haircuts I’ve ever received and will definitely be back.
The salon itself is a little bit hidden, tucked in between and optical store and Marios on 6^th avenue. You walk down a long hallway and up some stairs to get there. It’s one of these classic downtown building and you can see some remnants of the workmanship in the building’s ornate ceiling fixtures. There are nice changing rooms for you to put on your robe and the shampoo area for you hair is just okay. The waiting area is nice and I noticed they offered some people some tea while they waited. There are a gazillion fashion and décor magazines to choose from while you’re waiting, but couldn’t find a Sports Illustrated (no surprise there).
