I’ve been seeing Chi for my haircuts for many years. She understands my attachment to my hair and takes such good care of me. She has gone through my years of long locks to chopping my hair off for an angled bob. When I was brave enough to add some color to my hair, Chi referred me to Lahiki… both does wonders. I always book to see them the same day and for years… I leave feeling fabulous and fierce. Both are extremely professional and never disappoint. I always refer folks to them and all my family and friends are extremely pleased with the outcomes. I plan on spending more years with their services… forever a Chi and Lahiki client.

I still love Carson. She’s the best. I walk in from out of the rain with my ridiculously fobby, thick, and frizzy hair. I look like I’m wearing a helmet, but no. No, that is my hair. UGH. When I see Carson she can tell how irritated I am by my out-​of-​control hair and she does her magic… Snip, snip, snip, and there’s hair errywhere. I walk out look like a million bucks. God, is she a miracle worker! ASK FOR HER! You won’t be disappointed. She is truly talented and ever so lovely.

Very bad first experience!
Never get a keratin smoothening treatment here nor trust the managers and stylists therr!
I have silky and almost manageable wavy hair and get smoothening treatment once few months but terrible treatment here! The hairs didn’t see any change, it was the same wavy hair. But was billed 500 $ with the treatment and the shampoos, conditioners they recommend with it!!!
I went back to show my before and after pictures and they totally turned back on me. That they don’t assure any kinda results after the treatment!!! Duh. After a prolong conversation they mentioned they would call me back for an adjustment appointment but never called back.
The manager and the stylist Geraldine were in this conversation. Never responded nor they cared! So 500 $ in the drain with my hair still the same to get redone somewhere else!

I went in for a partial foil and color with Kimberly on 12÷2÷15 after finding out last minute that my work was taking professional photographs the next day (while scheduling, I stated that I need an extra 30min for my hair because it’s very long and extra thick).
When I told Kimberly that I wanted to go from my blond (and then yellow) balayage to my natural dark blond, she said she didn’t have enough time for a partial foil and color because I was her last appointment of the day. She said I had time for either a full foil or full color. After an unexpectedly combative consultation, I finally settled for full low-​lights and Kimberly’s snooty attitude because it was better than yellow hair in professional pictures.
When she came back from mixing my color, Kimberly said I had to sign a corrective color form in order to get the service done. When she saw me reading it, she said they were out of tint-​back forms and that she’d make a note since I wasn’t really having a corrective color just a tint-​back (still not sure what a tint-​back is).
When my color was done, it looked ok in the salon under the direct spotlight over my chair. But when I got home and looked in the mirror, I saw how awful my color was. I have 4 inches of roots showing on my right side and about 6 inches of roots showing on my left side. I also have a giant chunk of rust/​orange in the left side of my hair. I am shocked Kimberly let me walk out of the salon that way since I am now a walking ad for who not to see.
I called two days later and spoke with salon manager Rand who said that because I signed a corrective color form, they would fix my hair, but, I’d have to pay for a full corrective color service. Unhappy with that answer, I called the corporate office and spoke to customer service manager Colleen.
My conversation with Colleen revealed that my color appointment was booked wrong from the beginning (the extra 30 minutes was not added) and that apparently Gene Juarez has no such thing as a «tint-​back form.» At this point I was asking for a refund. Colleen’s immediate response was «they couldn’t stay in business if they gave everyone a refund» (So…apparently they are inundated with calls for refunds? That can’t be good…). Unfortunately Colleen, the corporate customer service rep, was snooty as well. Not once did she apologize for the scanty customer service experience, the faulty booking, the colorist’s attitude, the colorist lying to me – nothing. Her solution was for me to go back to the salon for a consultation with another colorist, and if the colorist agreed with me, then I might get a refund. Please, who are we kidding?
I will not get my hair done at Gene Juarez again. Seattle is home to a plethora of salons and spas with lots of tough – and better – competition. I will be going back to the boutique salon a few blocks away to get my color fixed.

While on vacation I thought I would treat myself to a much overdue haircut. Per Unilocal I had to request yvey, he’s in too many of the reviews to ignore it! Thank you so much Unilocal because this was one of the absolute best cuts I have ever had!!! He is extremely talented. As someone who does not color my hair or put a lot of time into styling each day, he truly gave me a cut that lets my hair be the best it should be. Yvey gets 10 stars!!! The only reason I am giving this 4 is because I’m not a huge fan of all the ceremony that goes into a fancy salon like this. The changing rooms for your robe, the separate payment area, the major product pushing, not my thing. I feel it’s all a lot of unnecessary fluff.
Regardless I wish I had another trip planned so I could have yvey cut my hair again and certainly will go there any time I’m in Seattle.

Really liked this place. high end salon with lots of stylists. Friends and I went for a blow dry and we All had a great time. Hair looked good too.

Amazing salon and spa! I always look forward to my visits here :) Paulette is the best if you are looking for a relaxing, calm facial. She is so kind and informative. Gene jaurez sells the best skin care –eminence. If you haven’t discovered the joy of real fruit lotions and face masks, you are missing out!
Hair care– I was walking down the street a few weeks ago and I was literally stopped in my tracks! This woman’s hair cut looked like a million dollars! Her hair looked so good, you could tell someone had spent some serious time and care on sculpting every inch… I couldn’t help but beg her for her secret: Gene jaurez downtown — Yvey! I saw him today and I can’t even express how happy I am. He is so sweet and caring :) He transformed my hair and I feel like a supermodel. He spent so much time perfecting every inch. My husband gasped when he saw my new hair! I feel like I won the hair lottery finding Yvey. Take my advice and prepare to feel AMAZING

The stylists here are top of the line. All of my experiences here have been great. They never fail to make you feel special and important. I’ve had my hair cut and styled and have had it colored. Both my stylist and colorist have been super friendly and are amazing at what they do. Already looking forward to my next appointment.

The single one reason for me to visit Gene Juarez in Downtown Seattle: Yvey Valcin. From the cut to the styling, to the feel, the artist knows what he is doing. I recommend him to anyone seeking style, fabulous hair tips, and good good hair lovin’. So glad to have found you. Thank you Yvey! See you soon…

Fabulous salon. I drive here from Oregon to get my hair colored and cut. Outstanding service. I love Gene Juarez and their many very talented stylists.

I tried to dye my hair myself and did a bad job at it, so I looked online to try to find a place that had good reviews, and Gene Juarez showed up. I went to the downtown location and asked the stylist what we could do, and she basically refused to work with me to get it the color I was going for, she said the only thing she could do was dye it brown again. She did a good job at dyeing my hair, but all she really did was dye it brown.
I went in another time to get my nails done, and for a simple nail polish manicure (and not even a good quality manicure), I was charged $ 90. I’m not originally from Seattle, but never in my life have I paid THAT much for a sloppily done manicure with just nail polish, not even gel or anything.
Also I want to mention that both people who worked on me, both the hair colorist and the woman who did my nails, were honestly acting very pretentious and snobby. They acted like they were VERY important, busy people and I was not worth their time.
Gene Juarez, at least at this location, is completely overpriced, (I’d also like to mention that I honestly do not mind spending a lot of money for beauty services as long as I’m paying for quality, but the quality was just not there), their staff is snobby, and it was just an overall unpleasant experience.

Came to gene juarez for a cut and color recently… I was booked with Andrea for color and Richie for a cut. This was my first experience with this salon, and the only reason i booked it was because the reviews seemed to be good and it was going to be in downtown where i was celebrating a special occasion that day.
I was early for my appointment, but my appointment time came and went. Went to the counter and asked what the deal was. and was told she was running late. Which i should’ve been told that from the beginning so i can make that choice if i want to wait or not. Was finally taken back for my color. told her what i wanted. Richie came over to introduce himself and asked what i was looking for with a cut. He asked andrea if she wanted him to trim my hair first so she can do the all over color, and she said no i’ll pull the color thru. Don’t know what means. She was very quick in doing the color and only did my roots all over. She asked if i wanted a magazine before she left bc id have to wait for 20 minutes. i said yes. She never came back to check on me, no magazine or anything… 30 minutes pass. Finally she comes and brings me to the shampoo area and i think put more hair dye in and had me wait there too then shampoo rinse after.
Richie came and got me, and did a good job with my cut. as i was nervous in going short. He styled it like i wanted, just a straight sleek look. He asked how i liked everything and i told him i liked it as of course most hair in a salon looks great after its styled.
After leaving the salon, i realize my hair isn’t what i asked for. literally my roots are much darker then the rest of hair (hence she only put the color on my roots and not thru my whole hair at first) and i see multiple different browns coming thru. Not what i wanted.
Coming from a person that doesn’t go to salon all that often, i expected a lot more out of this salon especially for what you pay. It was disappointing that my color didnt turn out. and that my service overall wasn’t great with waiting, and being late to begin with. With a high end salon i would expect a lot better out of what i received. Would give a 1 star, but I do like the cut from Richie.

This was my first hair cut at Gene Juarez Salon and I have to say it was an amazing experience. My designer was Bre, and she is absolutely amazing. I am in love with my new hair cut. She had great recommendations for what would look good and how to frame my face nicely! I would highly recommend Bre and Gene Juarez to anyone looking for a great spa/​salon experience.

I had an inexperienced colorist unfortunately dye my hair a blonde/​orange color. I walked into Gene Juarez and was introduced to Allyssa. She is a young but very experienced colorist who turned my awful Smurf orange hair into something that looked very natural and was beautifully conditioned. I cannot recommend her highly enough

I had a bad experience at a Gene Juarez in the U District last December and hadn’t gone back since. However, I’be been needing to get my hair cut and thought i would give Gene Juarez a try again at a different location.
I called and was able to get a same day appointment with Charlie, who I have never seen before. First off I was a few minutes late due to traffic and everyone was so friendly about it and understanding (I’m sure that happens a lot at this location since its downtown). I immediately got a robe and a cup of hot market spice tea (SOOO GOOD).
Charlie did a PHENOMENAL cut on me! I was a little nervous because he said he’d only been doing hair for 2 years, but I’m not super super picky anyways. I showed him pictures of what I wanted and I think that he really understood and was able to give me exactly what I asked for! Also he was very easy to talk to and so funny and sweet. Love him.
Definitely recommend Charlie and this salon location. Will absolutely be back to see him.

I’ve been going to Carson since February 2013, and she is still fantastic!

This review is for Anthony. I’ve moved to Seattle 3 years ago and I’ve been desperately looking for a person who can can cut my hair. I finally found him in Gene Juarez after my friend recommended him. He is very experienced and professional. He listens to you, makes a plan and cuts your hair according to his plan. He understood my concerns with my hair and cut my hair in a way that’s so easy to style now. He also thought me how to do my hair at home. His recommendation for the product was also amazing. I’t’s been a couple of weeks since my haircut and I can still style it the same way as he did. He is amazing and exceptional. I will never let anyone else cut my hair. Usually after I get a haircut, I can not style my hair the same way because simply I don’t have all the products needed. He didn’t use any product in my hair. Wow!

Came here for the first time on an «emergency» visit to fix up something that didn’t go quite right at another salon. I was highly impressed that they were able to get me in *same day* (I called in the morning and got a 4pm appointment)!
It was a little confusing figuring out how to get in but luckily I followed someone else. You go through the little store on the street level to an elevator that goes up to the 4^th floor (the only buttons are 4^th and 1^st floors, thankfully) where you get out to a large, beautiful lobby.
I was offered tea, which is the local Market Spice flavor (yum!) that you find in Pike Place and had only a brief wait before my stylist came out.
Kaylee (sp?) was awesome. I could tell she really cared about doing a great job and she really listened to what I wanted. I was a little nervous when she said a few times that she wanted to leave the color in a little longer, and then use extra toner, but my hair coloring turned out EXACTLY how I wanted it to be!
I’m so happy with the service and will definitely return to her!

Ridiculous. Came here to inquire on Eminence skincare products and a specific eye cream that they make. Got sent upstairs and was told the esthetician that could answer questions was «just finishing up» and could help.
20 minutes later as the front desk chick saw me walk to the elevator to leave the esthetician shows up all of a sudden and proceeds to make some sorry ass apology but she doesn’t actually know anything about the product line, no she won’t open up a tester for it, and that I should just drop $ 70 and buy the cream to see if I like it.
Give me a break. I would have appreciated my wasted time to spend elsewhere for better service.
