We perform all facets of home maintenance, painting, handyman work, and custom interior and exterior remodels. We have extensive experience in performing earthquake retrofits on older houses. Established out of a passion for high-​quality work, BJ’s Painting and Handyman has been steadily growing over the last year with many satisfied customers. As a one-​stop-​shop operation, we stress communication with clients in order to ensure all aspects of a job are done smoothly and according to client specifications.

Business Owner

Hello, My name is Bryce Matthews and I am Co-​Owner of BJ’s Painting and Handyman. My father is a well-​known area architect and my mother ended her career as a project manager and vice-​president of a Seattle area commercial construction firm. To say construction is in my blood is a bit of an understatement! I began working in the field at fourteen years old working with my father and mother building their award-​winning Bainbridge Island home. Later, during college, I worked many part-​time jobs in all facets of the construction industry as well as on yachts and commercial boats.

I started this business with my best friend because we saw that many tradesmen are getting toward retirement age and there seem to be few younger people with interest in trades. I believe that hard work with your hands is vastly more rewarding than any office job and with this Idea in mind Josh McDowell and I started BJ’s Painting and Handyman.
