Jeremiah was amazing! He was extremely friendly and my tattoo turned out even better than I had imagined. Also, the girl answering the phones was friendly and kept my mind off the pain during my whole visit. I highly recommend making an appointment about a month in advance. This place is very popular! I’ll be back in November for my birthday and new tats!

I absolutely loved Jeremiah, he did an amazing job on my tattoo. Took every opinion I had into consideration, super nice, hugged me before I left. I really recommend him. He said he’s only been there for a few weeks so he’s relatively new to the shop. So if you ever had a bad experience before ask for him. I’m sure he’ll make it a good one. Also the after care instructions are adorable.

My daughter turned 18 last year and has been considering a tattoo. she knows what she wants so she is starting to look into places and artists to get some opinions. We stopped in here during our day trip but after hanging out for about 20 minutes, no one even said hello, so after we went through all the books and tried to make eye contact with several people working there, we finally left without talking to anyone. If appointments are required, they could have just said so, but being a tourist town, it seems like they could get more business from walk-​in traffic.

I never write reviews. Just don’t care too. But this place deserves more then five stars. Brandy Coulthard was my tattoo artist. She was extremely helpful and friendly when it came to helping me cover up a really bad tattoo I got at another shop. I met Jen Knox too and she was very friendly. I would recommend this shop to anyone. I have seen much of their work on other people that turned out great. I think I will do more business with Hold Fast Tattoo. Great shop, friendly atmosphere and great work! Thanks you Gus for giving me a great cover up on a horrible tattoo.

Do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT go here unless you are covered head-​to-​toe in tattoos and can pull off a rockabilly look. Wanted to get matching tattoos for my sister and I for a very special reason, so I brought in a sketch and the chick with the rockabilly bangs and glasses immediately said, «Yah, there are lots of these little dorky tattoos online and they will get BLOBBY.» That was her buzzword of choice: BLOBBY.
Apparently she thought I was an idiot, that I assumed tattoos look the same after a few decades. The funny thing was that my tattoo was a solid anchor, nothing fancy and it was definitely not trendy like the bird feather that breaks off into a million little birds. I showed her another tattoo I had that an artist did in Vancouver, WA and she said, «Yah, whoever did that tattoo took your money and ran. It too will get BLOBBY.»
Who the heck does she think she is? She was super condescending, looked at me like I didn’t belong there (sorry I didn’t get the memo that I needed funky bangs and the T-​Bird uniform from Grease), talked to me like I was a fool and insulted my choice of art and the tattoo I already have.
Apparently it is known around town that the ladies (if you can call this one that) at Hold Fast (very forgettable name) are super-​rude, according to a tattoo artist I saw instead (see my two reviews for Lucky Dog Tattoo).

Hold Fast is one of two local ink places (Keepsake in Astoria being the other) that I have ALWAYS heard really good things about. In a time when so many people get inked and have such firm opinions about who is the best (and worst), it speaks volumes when a place’s «word of mouth» stays strong and true for such a long time.
Hold Fast is a super– clean, open, and professional place. They have done amazing work on my sister (Jen’s attention to detail was amazing! One of the most detailed and beautiful works of art that I have seen in a long while) & a few of my friends. Top quality work at a great price.
Really cool art is exhibited there as well. Always some really creative stuff up on the walls to check out and be inspired by. It is nice to see some «edge» in the land of cotton candy, tourist kitsch, and clocks stopped at 4:20.

I have been to a number of tattoo studios and Hold Fast Tattoo is my favorite one. Am I alone on this? Well, considering that I live in Portland and know of half a dozen people who swear by the artist at this tattoo, probably not. People come from Seattle, Portland, and who knows where else to come here.
The studio, operating room status of cleanliness. Pleasant background music in the background music. The studio is professional yet not pretentious and egocentric.
Prices, comparable or even lower than most studios. Even with the time it takes me to drive from Portland to Seaside I always look forward to going back. I have been there at least half a dozen times and had over 15 hours worth of work.
The artist, all I can speak for is Chris. Chris is a gifted and dedicated artist. When he transferred from Keepsake Tattoo in Astoria to Hold Fast in Seaside, I continued going to him. Chris is versatile, he can use your tattoo and modify it to what you envision or he can expand on the design that you provide him. He keeps up on the newest techniques, moves at a continuous pace, and checks in periodically to make sure you are doing well. All the artist get a lot of request and they get very busy on the weekend in the summer. There is a constant demand from all the artist, you just need to find one that fits your style. I didn’t have any tattoos until 2009, and I was in my late 20’s. I waited because I wanted to be sure of the design, now Chris has tattooed my entire back and I love the design. Excellent work, outstanding artist.

Love it here. I am from Seattle and drove all the way to Seaside after seeing the shop on a summer vacation. I got my first tattoo here and loved it. The experience was very enjoyable. The shop is more like a classy art gallery, it’s not the stereotypical tattoo parlor with blaring metal music. Also very clean.
I loved Jen’s work so much that I am going back this summer to get my second tattoo. The staff is very nice, and polite. I would recommend this shop to anyone and everyone.

Amazing work done here! Friendly staff! Jen is the greatest! I live 3.5 hrs. away, but will probably be coming back for my next piece! Also check out the art gallery there are a lot of great pieces.
